NOTABLE QUOTES

Allan J. Feifer contributor to American Thinker: Who will fight for the values that our forefathers fought so valiantly for, risking everything in the process? If not you, then who? The blood of an untold number of patriots waits for your answer. God Bless America.

Daniel Greenfield contributor to Frontpage Magazine: Generations of Ivy Leaguers have been told at ponderous graduation ceremonies that they are the hope of tomorrow, and that history has tasked them with solving the troubles of the nation and the world by implementing the dogma of the moment. No king was more blatantly endowed with the right to rule without the fitness for it than these puffed up and well-connected children. Each ruling class is more vicious, hollow and inept than the last.

Jonathan Tobin contributor to Jewish News Syndicate: How is it possible for what is supposed to be the best and the brightest of American students—those who attend Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Cornell and many other elite universities where the “pro-Palestine” protests have sprung up—to embrace such a profoundly evil cause?  The simple answer for what should be seen as responsible points to the intellectual fashion of the day, which, for lack of a better term, we are forced to call “woke” ideologies. The toxic ideas of critical race theory and intersectionality, which teach that the world is permanently divided between “white” oppressors and people of color who are their victims, have decided that Israel and the Jews belong to the former, and Hamas and its mass of Palestinian supporters are among the latter.

Robert Spencer contributor to Frontpage Magazine: Islam is the elephant in the room of this entire conflict: not only do the Columbia students ignore it but also the establishment media and even the Western politicians and policymakers who have attempted for decades now to negotiate an agreement that will end the conflict and bring peace to the region. The only force that is involved in the Israeli/Arab conflict that doesn’t ignore Islam’s key role in it is the Arab side: Muslim Arab and non-Arab leaders routinely speak of their hatred of Israel and desire to destroy it in Islamic terms, which is why it is so short-sighted and foolish of Western leaders and analysts to ignore this aspect of the whole problem.

Andrea Widburg contributor to American Thinker: When the 19th Amendment was passed, American women were secure in who they were. They did not believe that they were men, with men’s emotions, and they did not want to abandon their femininity. They were either the dynamos who fought for women’s rights and education or ordinary women who believed in fulfilling their biological roles, even as they felt (rightly) that they were entitled to demand full civil rights, equal opportunity for equal ability, and equal work for equal pay. On the left, at least, those women are gone, and we’re left with a lot of crazy, ignorant, emotion-led harpies. I know that to get these broken Democrat women out of politics, I would give up my 19th Amendment right to vote. That Amendment should be stayed or repealed until all American women have earned their way back to sanity, at which time it can be reinstated.

Glenn Harlan Reynolds Substack: Top corporate recruiters are now de-emphasizing elite schools, or even skipping them entirely. “The anti-Israel protests now at Columbia, and throughout some of the country’s once revered, top-tiered universities are tarnishing degrees from these places, these people say. Recruiters see the bungling responses from school administrations to the protests — such as Columbia calling for remote learning as officials negotiate with anti-Israel protesters to decamp from their disruptive tent-cities on campus — as endemic of a wider problem at the schools from an academic standpoint. At issue: Can schools that rationalize non-stop protests while allowing course curriculum that imbibes students with a leftist interpretations of world events be trusted to produce quality job candidates?”

Luke Goodrich contributor to FirstThings.com: Over the last decade, a complicated network of state and federal laws has increasingly channeled children down the path of gender transition. These laws operate in a wide variety of settings—from public schools, to professional counseling, to custody disputes, to foster care, to adoption, to health insurance, to the practice of medicine itself. And in each setting, the law places a heavy thumb on the scale, pushing children and parents toward gender transition. The law operates, in effect, as a transgender conveyor belt.

M.D. Kittle contributor to The Federalist: Just in case you’re scoring along at home, the ever-expanding alphabet of depravity in human beings is now being foisted on unsuspecting flora and fauna.

BIDEN’S DEMOCRAT PARTY MARXIST PLAYBOOK: PERSECUTE YOUR OPPOSITION, PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP & HIS FORMER TRUMP EMPLOYEES, SUPPORTERS & WH STAFF

(It was more than banks) WND: Report: Banks Spied on Trump Supporters for Biden

Reported on customers who bought a Bible, used ‘MAGA’ or ‘Trump’. A new report reveals that there are now at least 13 banking institutions that were recruited by the Biden administration to spy on customers, without warrants, in the aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol. And some of them did the bidding and turned over private customer information to the feds. It is the Daily Mail that said in addition to the alleged involvement of Bank of America, Chase, U.S. Bank, Wells Fargo, Citi Bank and Truist in the illicit spying, seven others now have been implicated. They are Charles Schwab, HSBC, MUFG, PayPal, Santander, Standard Chartered and Western Union. Those all are being investigated by the U.S. House “for colluding with the federal government to spy on Americans” after the protest that turned into a riot, the report said.

Hoft: Revealed: Court Document Release Indicates Jack Smith and FBI Were After Obama- and North Korea-Related Documents in Mar-a-Lago Raid

Newly unredacted documents in the Mar-a-Lago raid case indicate that Jack Smith was after Obama and North Korea-related documents. After the raid the DOJ was pleased with their findings and wrote, “I think we are in good shape.” President Trump said two years after he met Obama before his 2017 Inauguration that Obama was on the brink of starting a war with North Korea. Trump claimed that Obama was “close to starting a big war” with North Korea. […] The corrupt and criminal Biden/Obama regime had to conjure up a reason for why they raided President Trump’s home and stole his documents. They apparently had their reason outlined before they raided President Trump’s home and stole documents he legally had in his possession per the Presidential Records Act. In the document below there is a clue: […] We can guess but based on the corrupt Biden/Obama DOJ’s actions to date, we know that for this regime to believe they were “in good shape”, they were either happy about what they obtained that removed the risk of their crimes being exposed, or they were happy about obtaining documents they were going to use to set up President Trump (North Korea communications), or both.

U.S. SUPREME COURT

Lyman: Alito: Criminalizing Close Election Contests Would Destabilize Entire Foundation Of American Democracy

“Let me end with just a question about, what is required for the functioning of a stable democratic society, which is something that we all want?” Alito began. “I’m sure you would agree with me that a stable, democratic society requires that a candidate who loses an election, even a close one, even a hotly contested one, leave office peacefully if that candidate is the incumbent?” “Of course,” attorney Michael Dreeben said […] “Now, if an incumbent who loses a very close, hotly contested election knows that a real possibility after leaving office is not that the president is going to be able to go off in a peaceful retirement but that the president may be criminally prosecuted by a bitter political opponent, will that not lead us into a cycle that destabilizes the functioning of our country as a democracy?” Alito asked. “And we can look around the world and find countries where we have seen this process where the loser gets thrown in jail.”

“So I think it’s exactly the opposite. . . .

Laila: Justice Alito Destroys Jack Smith’s Prosecutor During Trump Immunity Oral Arguments with One Question (AUDIO)

Trump’s lawyers previously argued that Trump is immune from federal prosecution for alleged ‘crimes’ committed while he served as US President. John Sauer, a Missouri-based attorney for Trump, gave an opening statement on Thursday and argued that Jack Smith’s indictment uses vague statutes to criminalize “core authority” of the presidency. As expected, the liberal justices, similar to the appellate court judges, floated absurd hypotheticals. The justices then had the opportunity to grill Jack Smith’s prosecutor Michael Dreeben. Recall that Dreeben was one of Mueller’s goons in the special counsel’s ‘Trump-Russia’ inquisition. Conservative Justice Samuel Alito destroyed DOJ prosecutor Michael Dreeben with one question.

THE CORRUPT & DANGEROUS U.S. INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES & THE ADMINISTRATIVE STATE APPARATUS

Lyman: Biden DOJ Says Droning American Citizens Is Totally Fine Because Obama’s DOJ Said So

Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) argued Thursday before the Supreme Court that droning American citizens is permissible because Obama’s DOJ said so, whereas questioning election results isn’t OK because the government also says so. The Supreme Court heard arguments on the scope of presidential immunity after special counsel Jack Smith alleged that former President Donald Trump should be tossed in jail for questioning the administration of the 2020 election. Justice Brett Kavanaugh posed a series of hypotheticals to DOJ attorney Michael Dreeben about the scope of presidential authority, asking whether Gerald Ford’s pardon of Richard Nixon in 1976 could have been investigated for obstruction of justice “on the theory that [Ford was] interfering with the investigation of Richard Nixon.” Dreeben suggested that particular case would fall under “presidential responsibilities that Congress cannot regulate.”

“How about President Obama’s drone strikes?” Kavanaugh asked. “So the Office of Legal Counsel looked at this very carefully and. . .

(It’s called RATIONING) Daniels: Medicare ignored expert advice to cut tests for transplant patients: Report

Contractors for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) cut access to tests for transplant patients that could show early signs of organ rejection despite expert physicians advising the opposite, a new report has found. The Health Equity in Transplantation Coalition (HEiTC) announced Friday that a Freedom of Information Act request found that Medicare contractors limited access to blood tests even after the recommendations given by the government-chosen panel of medical experts. Al B. Sure!, executive chairman of HEiTC, said he was “incredibly alarmed” by the findings. “Instead of listening to these experts and considering what these tests meant to tens of thousands of transplant recipients, the contractor not only ignored but withheld their expert opinion,” he said. “In the process, they took away a vital tool for other doctors to monitor an overwhelmingly Black and Brown transplant community, which for the last year has lived with more anxiety than they should.”

U.S. CONGRESS

Rodgers: Republicans Sound Alarm On Efforts To Shield Ukraine Funding From American Voters

As President Joe Biden signed legislation Wednesday to send billions of dollars more in aid to Ukraine, officials from Brussels to Washington are working to hamstring former President Donald Trump from taking a different route should he win back the White House. With Congress granting Biden additional “drawdown” authority to send weapons to Kyiv, and NATO allies in Europe seeking to take the power to send aid away from the White House, multiple Senate Republicans, strategists and former Trump officials told the Daily Caller efforts to “Trump-proof” foreign aid are misguided and futile. “There are things that they’re setting in motion here that are going to make it very difficult for Trump to, if he’s elected president, to undo this, to extricate us, from these arrangements,” Utah Sen. Mike Lee said. “I mean, look there are a thousand things you can do with government contracting that can make it either easier or harder for a subsequent administration to take a different approach.”

Emma & Scholtes: Cole tweaks earmark guidelines to curb GOP political headaches

House Appropriations Chair Tom Cole has some revamped guidance on earmarks that Democrats won’t like. The new chair is barring nonprofits from receiving money through the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Economic Development Initiative grant program, hoping to minimize some political headaches that popped up in the last months-long fight over funding the government. That last spending package included more than $3 billion in earmarked funding for the HUD grant program, about a quarter of which flowed to nonprofits.

TUCKER

(Bob Woodward of Deep Throat  fame) Tucker Carlson Explains That Watergate Was an Orchestration to Remove President Nixon From Office

I have several times reported the same. Nixon was removed because he was making arms limitation agreements with the Soviets and opening to China. This was normalizing the enemy that the military/security complex needed for its budget and power. It was for the same reason that President Kennedy was assassinated by the military/security complex. The growing suspicion about Kennedy’s assassination meant that the military/security complex could not risk a second violent assassination, so Nixon was politically assassinated. The same strategy was applied to Trump.

Chen: The Tiny Island That Serves as a Tripwire for War between the US and China

Earlier this year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences nominated Island in Between in the Best Documentary Short Film category at the ninety-sixth Academy Awards. Although it didn’t end up taking home the Oscar, the documentary drew attention to the little-known Kinmen Island and its precarious position as an inflection point in the relationship between Taiwan, mainland China, and the continuing involvement of the United States. Taiwanese American director S. Leo Chiang narrates scenes of the tranquil lives of locals on the island juxtaposed against the dreaded possibility of war that looms larger there than in the rest of Taiwan as the shores of the mainland lay in visible distance. In the film, a massive concrete loudspeaker pointed across Xiamen Bay wafts the voice of classic Taiwanese pop singer Teresa Teng as she sweetly sings her hits and delivers political taunts to the nearest mainland city, proclaiming that “I just hope all of you on the mainland will enjoy the same democracy and freedom that we have.” […] The main island of Kinmen is situated just six miles away from the mainland Chinese city of Xiamen, and some parts of the island group are just 2.5 miles away. While Taiwan and its key role in US-China tensions has been gaining attention, far fewer people have heard of Kinmen. That might be changing as the US raises its level of engagement, sending military advisers and US Army Special Forces, better known as the Green Berets, there.

Harsanyi: The World is Paying a Deadly Price for Barack Obama’s Foreign Policy Legacy

If a belligerent state launched 185 explosive drones, 36 cruise missiles and 110 surface-to-surface missiles from three fronts against civilian targets within the United States, would President Joe Biden call it a “win”? Would the president tell us that the best thing we can do now is show “restraint”? What if that same terror state’s proxy armies had recently helped murder, rape and kidnap more than 1,000 American men, women and children? What if this terror state were trying to obtain nuclear weapons so it could continue to agitate without any consequences? This is what Biden and the Barack Obama acolytes, Iranian dupes and Israel antagonists he’s surrounded himself with demand of the Jewish state.

WAR IN ISRAEL

Cohen: The Last Lebanon War

I have recently concluded a four-month stint on IDF reserve duty in the north, returning home with a bitter sense of missed opportunity. The unprecedented attack by Iran on Israel on April 13 has only heightened this feeling. When war erupted on Oct. 7, I was called up for reserve duty in Har Dov, in northern Israel, where I served as a tactical officer stationed on the Lebanese border. It was a stark contrast to my usual work at Herut, the Center for Israeli Liberty, but it provided me with a broader perspective and deeper strategic insight. Engaging with tactical considerations inevitably prompts deeper reflection on strategic imperatives. From this experience, it became evident to me that while Israel pursues tactical objectives, it often lacks strategic foresight. I’m not alone in harboring this sense of missed opportunity. My fellow reservists feel the same, as they’ve made clear in countless conversations. At the end of the day, we did not provide security to the residents of Israel’s northern communities. Hezbollah militants continue to operate with impunity, firing at will despite sustaining losses. It’s undeniable that we fell short of our mission. I don’t make this statement lightly. Reserve duty demands significant sacrifice. Those of us who serve put our lives, families, and businesses on hold for months at a time. Returning home feeling like we’ve failed is deeply disheartening. Yet we cannot but recognize that while we’ve done our utmost to protect Israel’s north—no small feat amid simultaneous fighting in the south—we missed a rare opportunity for meaningful change. We also anticipate being called back to duty soon to finish the job.

(A must read) Walter: Shedding Light on Governing for Impact

The dark money network shaping the Biden Administration and America’s schools. One of the more notable examples of the coordination between the Soros philanthropic network and Arabella Advisors—and the Biden Administration—came to light in mid-2022, despite extensive efforts to keep it hidden.

In early 2022, Capital Research Center alerted Fox News to the existence of a secret 501(c)(3) “charity” called Governing for Impact. The research organization and its sister (c)(4) “dark money” group, the Governing for Impact Action Fund, exist to research, write, promote, and defend new federal regulations for the Biden Administration to issue. These two groups, sponsored by Arabella’s New Venture Fund and Sixteen Thirty Fund, respectively, received a combined $17.4 million in funding from Soros grant-makers from 2019 to 2021. Most surprisingly, the group intentionally operated far under the radar from its launch in 2019 (long before the 2020 presidential election) because its website was carefully set to be invisible to Google and other search engines. […] The group’s internal presentations to donors in 2022 state that it has drafted more than 60 policy memos designed to shape federal department after federal department, specifically: […] The sweeping agenda of specific radical policies in those agencies is breathtaking. […] “Transgender shelter protections” are among the items on the Department of Housing and Urban Development list, while the Department of Energy is being urged to increase “energy efficiency standards,” which will raise prices on items within every American family’s budget: […] The Treasury Department has an ominous checklist of a half dozen memos with titles like. . . .

Rodriguez & Paleo: REVEALED: George Soros is PAYING left-wing activists to head up camp outs at colleges across America – as huge wads of cash they’re getting are shared

  • Three of the major figures in the pro-Palestine encampments in US universities are fellows at the Soros-funded US Campaign for Palestinian Rights
  • Fellows are given between $2,880 and $3,660 for spending eight hours a week organizing ‘campaigns led by Palestinian organizations’
  • The organization instructs its fellows to ‘rise up’ and spark ‘revolution,’ while specifically telling them to reject ‘reform’

Dershowitz: US Campuses: Incubating Terrorism

  • Some of the signs say “pro-Palestine”, “ceasefire now” and “end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza”. But these benign statements hide a far more malignant agenda, the end of Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people, the end of America as the world’s leading power and the end of democracy and the free market economy. Even if there were a unilateral ceasefire, accompanied by massive humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, many of these protests would continue, because Gaza is merely an excuse for a much wider agenda: to destroy Israel and destroy America.
  • One never sees a sign calling for a two-state solution or for peace between Israel and the Palestinians. These are not the goals. What is demanded is the end of any Jewish presence in the Middle East. “Death to America,” similarly, means the end of America’s influence and Western values.
  • Many of the signs call for “revolution.” These are not directed against Israel, but rather against America, American Jews and all other Western democracies.
  • As in the 1960s, many of these students are being groomed to be the terrorists of the future — in the manner of Kathy Boudin and Bernardine Dohrn back then – and, in the United States, a fifth column, the aim of which is taking down America.
  • That these useful idiots are. . . .

DEMOCRAT PARTY MARXIST PLAYBOOK: CHILDREN ARE THE TARGET OF THE DARKNESS AFFECTING OUR NATION

Kaiser: Inside the twisted minds of female teacher pedos: Sex predator expert reveals what drives these seemingly harmless women – and the disturbing warning signs all parents must look out for

If I hadn’t been inside a California state jail, I wouldn’t have thought twice about the two women in front of me. They were former teachers. One was 40 years old and married. The other was 29 and single. Both were attractive, respectful and articulate – seemingly the portraits of devoted educators whom any parent would gladly find at the head of a classroom. Except, I knew the truth. They were convicted sex predators. Two decades ago, in my role as a state-licensed therapist, I counseled women who were jailed for sex offenses against minors and ordered to undergo psychological treatment as part of their sentence. Those sessions gave me an insight into the minds of perpetrators that still informs my work with abuse victims to this day. And now, as a new DailyMail.com investigation has revealed that at least 25 female teachers across 16 states have been arrested for sex crimes in the last year, I think back to those sessions. I know how devastating the psychological damage wrought by sex abuse is – and how deceptive and remorseless these female predators can be. The typical physical profile of a female sex predator is a caucasian woman in her 30s, according to new research. […] Of course, female sex offenders are not exclusively white or between the ages of 30- and 40-years-old – nor do they only target males. PSYCH PROFILE OF A PREDATOR  The women I counseled told me that they felt […] SEX ABUSE OF MALE VICTIMS IS NO JOKE. . . .

21ST CENTURY LEFTIST (DEMOCRAT PARTY) INDOCTRINATION CAMPS

U. Maryland Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies: A Case Study in ‘Jew Hatred’

The Harriet Tubman Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) at the University of Maryland has repeatedly promoted Jew hatred and demonstrated its disdain for academic neutrality by using official university channels to demonize Israel, condone Hamas terrorism, and delegitimize the world’s only Jewish state. […] Instead of condemning Hamas for its brutal and unprovoked attack on Israeli civilians or excoriating their use of rape as a weapon of war, the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Department attempted to whitewash the terrorist group’s action, urging that “The current escalation must be viewed in the context of decades of illegal Israeli military occupation and systemic violent campaigns.” Using anti-Semitic language which demonized and delegitimized Israel, the world’s only Jewish state, the statement went on to condemn “the ongoing and persistent U.S. government’s support for Israel’s apartheid regime” and to characterize the Palestinians and Hamas as exemplars of “liberation and resistance movements led by other indigenous, colonized, and oppressed peoples everywhere.” Lending a note of irony, the statement claimed that “As feminists. . . .

Richards: Is Columbia funding its own occupation? Student organization policies suggest so

Is the pro-Palestine protest movement has engulfed several prestigious universities over the past week, questions swirl about how these student groups are funding their occupations of centrally located student spaces. These questions have spurred congressional inquiry and testimony who want to probe pro-Palestine protest groups and raising concerns about alleged funding from opaque sources. One member of Congress told Just the News on Monday he wants to find out if any money is coming from foreign sources. There may be another way some of these student groups may be funding their operations: through the direct support of the universities themselves. In other words, these elite universities may be funding their own occupation.

(A solution?) Randall: Higher education’s parasitic infrastructure must be eradicated before a healthy system can be established.

Americans must create an entirely new higher education system that is untainted by the corrupt and radicalized education establishment. In Curriculum of Liberty, a new report from the National Association of Scholars, I lay out a comprehensive plan that is in line with that goal. To start, colleges and universities should institute rigorous and enforceable undergraduate admissions requirements. They have a fundamental responsibility to admit only students who are capable of benefitting from higher education and contributing to the education of their fellow students. Matriculating students should receive high scores on standardized tests, demonstrate an ability to read a 200-page book and write a ten-page paper, and be ready to take introductory classes in Calculus or statistics. […] three particular requirements should be made mandatory that would provide a broader education for character and career preparation. Every student should be required to: Teach one K-12 class as a graduation requirement. Take four summer sequences of basic combat training (one in the summer before they start classes and three in the ensuing summers). Work for one semester in a hospice. These three requirements together will ensure that colleges teach the importance of caring for the body, the character, and the mind. […] Shearing away the excrescences and malign incentives that have corrupted our system of higher education include: . . . .

Wood: The Illusion of Institutional Neutrality

Colleges and universities are now at the center of a heated debate over Hamas and Israel. Some supporters of Hamas justify its massacre of Israelis on October 7; some repeat slogans that assert the goal of Hamas to eradicate Israel; some engage in other forms of verbal denigration of Jews; and some proceed to vandalism, assault, and at least in one case, murder. Supporters of Israel decry the anti-Semitism of the Hamas apologists and the broader wave of anti-Semitism which has followed. After Israel began it retaliatory attacks on Hamas in Gaza, an additional confrontation arose between those who support Israel’s actions and those who denounce those actions. This second confrontation maps onto the first one, but imperfectly. Some who denounce anti-Semitism also denounce Israeli’s action in Gaza. All of this is painfully obvious, but I restate it to provide the context for the emergence of a deeper debate. Should American colleges and universities take positions on any of these matters? Should they have issued strong public denunciations of Hamas immediately after the October 7 massacre? Should they have repudiated the campus apologists for Hamas who began voicing their delight at the killings less than a day later? Should they, on the contrary, have voiced support for the rights of the students to celebrate these atrocities as justified resistance to “settler colonialism”? Should American universities have expressed disapproval of Israeli retaliation? These questions continue to roil American higher education and, in that context, an old idea has resurfaced. Some leaders in higher education have called for “institutional neutrality.”

ON THE ISSUE OF LIFE

Brekenridge: IVF Modernizes Ancient Eugenic Practices Of ‘Selective Breeding’

If states enforced restrictions on IVF, embryos would no longer be commodities that society can do with as it pleases. The Alabama Supreme Court’s recent and right decision to deem embryos created through in vitro fertilization (IVF) as people sparked concern from fertility facilities regarding the future of IVF. This concern resulted in Alabama rushing to pass legislation to preserve IVF, with a push from President Trump urging Alabama to “act quickly to find an immediate solution.” This bill, signed by Republican Gov. Kay Ivey, grants immunity from legal consequences to those providing and receiving services if embryos are damaged or destroyed during the procedure. Despite this legislation, there are still fears surrounding the future of IVF. Since Alabama claimed that the accidental death of three couples’ frozen embryos  qualified under the Wrongful Death of a Minor Act, physicians  have been “…worried that officials might cap the number of embryos that can be created in each treatment cycle, which often entails the fertilization of several eggs, [and that] lawmakers could also ban the freezing of backup embryos, which […] would result in less efficient and more expensive treatments.” There are also concerns about further limitations on embryonic research.

Boyd: Louisiana Republicans, Democrats Advance Bill Granting Immunity For Killing Embryos

Two bills grant broad immunity to the IVF industry, and HB 833 redefines the word ’embryo’ to remove references to an ‘unborn child.’ hen Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss., blocked a vote on congressional Democrats’ radical assisted reproductive technology bill at the end of February, she cited Louisiana as an example of a state with “common-sense” in vitro fertilization restrictions. Those little protections the 1986 law provided to unborn life, however, are subject to change now that the state House has advanced two bills aimed at shielding fertility facilities that handle and store embryos from liability.

A coalition of Republican and Democrat legislators in Louisiana — egged on by corporate media and their fearmongering about the Alabama Supreme Court’s embryo ruling — advanced two bills this week that seek to overhaul the Pelican State’s 1986 law governing embryos.

OTHER NEWS, COMMENTARY, OPINION

Ghlionn: Big Weed

Rising cannabis consumption is a bad omen for our future. […] In the United States, political representatives do not write legislation—that’s a job for lobbyists. This has been the case for decades, ever since Big Tobacco rose to prominence in the fifties and sixties. In more recent times, however, another significant player has emerged, pumping tens of millions of dollars into the pockets of ethically challenged politicians: Big Cannabis. Today, over 50 percent of the American population lives in states where recreational cannabis consumption is legal. As I write this, four more states—Florida, Idaho, Nebraska, and South Dakota—are flirting with the idea of legalizing the drug for both recreational and medical purposes. If the lobbyists have their way, all four will embrace the addictive effects of weed. Of course, it’s not just politicians who are benefiting from Big C’s big bucks. Academics are too. […] In the United States, meanwhile, Big C is also having a big impact. Several universities, including Harvard, MIT, and UC San Diego, have received substantial donations from cannabis investors and organizations linked to the ever-growing industry. This has sparked concerns regarding the impartiality and independence of scientific research on the medicinal benefits of cannabis—as it should.

BOOK REVIEW: ANARCHY, STATE, AND UTOPIA BY ROBERT NOZICK

Amos: Anarchy, State and Utopia: Robustly against Redistributive Taxation for 50 Years

Robert Nozick’s classic of political philosophy Anarchy, State, and Utopia turns fifty this year. His blasting of the redistribution of wealth shook academia to its core in 1974, and its intellectual tremors are arguably still being felt to this day. Nevertheless, Nozick’s arguments are clearly lost in the “real world”; high taxes and high benefits still run amuck. Indeed, even in the heyday of neoliberalism—the 1980s—Margaret Thatcher often justified her tax cuts on the basis that they advantaged the poorest in society. Did Nozick get it right in advocating for libertarianism, or did John Rawls really come to the correct conclusion in defending the social democracy that most states now embody? Little has not been written in the scholarly dispute; yet Nozick’s case remains close to totally unheard in popular debate. It’s about time that is put right. In making his first argument against redistributive taxation, Nozick asks us to picture our ideal distribution of wealth across society. Then imagine that Taylor Swift produces a new album and becomes very rich due to many people buying it. Suddenly, egalitarians argue that there is injustice within society because, for example, the poorest could be made better off via an income tax on Taylor Swift’s earnings. TAKE ACTION

The Prickly Pear’s TAKE ACTION focus this year is to help achieve a winning 2024 national and state November 5th election with the removal of the Biden/Obama leftist executive branch disaster, win one U.S. Senate seat, maintain and win strong majorities in all Arizona state offices on the ballot and to insure that unrestricted abortion is not constitutionally embedded in our laws and culture.

Please click the TAKE ACTION link to learn to do’s and don’ts for voting in 2024. Our state and national elections are at great risk from the very aggressive and radical leftist Democrat operatives with documented rigging, mail-in voter fraud and illegals voting across the country (yes, with illegals voting across the country) in the last several election cycles.

Read Part 1 and Part 2 of The Prickly Pear essays entitled How NOT to Vote in the November 5, 2024 Election in Arizona to be well informed of the above issues and to vote in a way to ensure the most likely chance your vote will be counted and counted as you intend.
