NOTABLE QUOTES

Thomas Paine American political activist, revolutionary and author of Common Sense wrote: The strength and power of despotism consists wholly in the fear of resistance.

Daniel Greenfield contributor to FrontPage Magazine wrote: Democrats howled that troops couldn’t be used at the border because of the Posse Comitatus Act. But once they declared that protests from the Right, unlike those from the Left, are insurrection, they can deploy 20,000 armed troops and vet them to eliminate any political sympathies for the enemy. Like every bit of this creepy totalitarian exercise, it’s a test of how much totalitarian theater Americans are good with. And the answer is a lot. This is largely a drill by the Bidentito regime, but the next time it may not be.

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) at a Texas Public Policy Foundation event in Austin, TX said: We need to really think deeply about if we are a disfavored class based on our principles, based on having conservative views, based on being a Christian, based on whatever you can say that is not favored in Silicon Valley, . . I think it’s probably the most important legislative issue that we’re going to have to get right this year and next year.

Stephen Kruiser contributor to PJ Media wrote: Trump may have only given us a four year reprieve from the dystopian hell that the Democrats want to unleash on the America that they hate but I think the time may have given us some ideas about how to fight them.

Kira Editor-At-Large Redstate tweeted: The Left – which has won everything in 2021 – continues to spiral into hopeless insanity. The continue to be miserable. I do not understand what is happening to these people, but it is frightening.

Politico tweeted on Jan. 17,2021: A House impeachment manager acknowledged on Sunday that one reason for charging President Donald Trump with incitement of insurrection was to prevent the outgoing commander in chief from trying to become president again.

Mike Ford contributor to RedState wrote: It’s unclear as to whether or not McConnell will vote to convict President Trump. To be quite frank, it’s not really important. What is important, is his and other RINOs’ objectives for the future. More so than any Democrat, McConnell, Sasse, Cheney, and a host of others, want nothing more than to ensure that the likes of Trump never again appears on the political scene.

PRESIDENT TRUMP

Look at What He’s Done And You’ll Agree – You’re Going to Miss Trump When He’s Gone
Democrat history-spinners will want to put an asterisk on Donald Trump’s presidency because of the frightening Capitol Building attack, which we learned almost immediately was pre-planned and would have been carried out regardless of what the president said on January 6th. But if they do, they’ll get history wrong. If there are any asterisks assigned, the venerated arc of justice will deposit one in the middle of Nancy Pelosi’s forehead. The Speaker, . . . . Indeed, as I explained on PJ Media, the president said nothing that could be construed as inciting a riot. […] . Donald Trump won’t get a gold star for comportment, manners, and speaking off-the-cuff, but the accomplishments of the 45th president are far more than smack-talk and bluster. Indeed, Trump can hold his head up and compare his accomplishments to any president, certainly of recent times. This is a short list of his accomplishments. Get ready. 1. Selflessness Despite knowing the booming economy would be his lasting legacy – with a 33.1% growth rate in Q-3 of 2020, why wouldn’t it be? – Trump was forced to ride the brakes to save his countrymen from the Chinese coronavirus. The White House, . . . 2. God and Babies Trump likes babies. He is the most pro-life president ever. Not only did he show up to the March for Life in person, becoming the first president to do that, but he . . . 3. Trump Loves America After Critical-Race Theorist-in-Chief Obama it was a breath of fresh air to have a president who actually liked America and wanted to see it succeed and its people thrive. Trump fought for . . . 4. Energy . . . 5. Making Peace and Kicking Ass . . . 6. The Law . . . Trump’s accomplishments in one term are more than most presidents have in two. You’re going to miss him when he’s gone.

Hoft: VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: Film Crew Releases Never Before Seen Footage of 2017 Inauguration Riots
13 minute Rumble videoYouTube video: Chicago, Illinois – Documentary film crew releases dramatic, never before seen footage of the 2017 Inauguration riots. The footage was gathered as part of an ongoing documentary about the fight for dominance playing out between establishment and independent news organizations. The shocking footage exposes a coordinated attack on the 2017 inauguration of President Donald Trump. Highlights include anarchists preparing for violent clashes with police (10:22), violent attacks on attendees (2:08), destruction of property (9:50), and the physical premeditated blockades that succeed in preventing voters from attending the Presidential Inauguration (3:29). Additional highlights include interviews with blockade organizers Code Pink and Disrupt J20, whose stated goal was to “shut this inauguration down.” Code Pink organizer Tighe Barry is asked, . . . […] Producers of the documentary explained their decision to release this footage now, “It was never our intent to release any footage while we’re still in production. We have held this dramatic content for 4 years in anticipation of its final release in the completed film, however, recent events have convinced us of the imperative to release this excerpt now.”

Spiering: Donald Trump’s 1776 Commission Releases Report Reaffirming America’s Founding Values
The report notes while modern Americans are deeply divided about their county’s history, they should revisit and find value in America’s founding principles and documents. “The facts of our founding are not partisan. They are a matter of history,” the commission report reads. “Controversies about the meaning of the founding can begin to be resolved by looking at the facts of our nation’s founding.” The 41-page report reemphasizes the idea enshrined in the Declaration of Independence that “all men are created equal” and explores the dangers of modern political movements and identity politics that threaten that concept. Movements that tackled issues of race, slavery, women’s rights, and the unborn rights, the report notes, have been successful by revisiting America’s founding principles rather than rejecting them in favor of a more subjective progressive value system. “Indeed, great reforms—like abolition, women’s suffrage, anti-Communism, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Pro-Life Movement—have often come forward that improve our dedication to the principles of the Declaration of Independence under the Constitution,” the report reads. The report observes how ideological movements that threatened the United States, such as . . .

THE DEMOCRAT LED TOTALITARIAN PURGE

Davidson: House Democrats Say GOP Colleagues Gave ‘Reconnaissance’ Capitol Tours, But Where’s The Evidence?
Democratic members of Congress are peddling theories that their GOP colleagues gave “reconnaissance” tours of the Capitol to “insurrectionists” just one day before a mob rioted at the historic building, but so far, no evidence has surfaced. “I’m going to see they are held accountable, and if necessary, ensure that they don’t serve in Congress,” said New Jersey Rep. Mikie Sherrill, referring to “those members of Congress who had groups coming through the Capitol that I saw on Jan. 5 — a reconnaissance for the next day; those members of Congress that incited this violent crowd; those members of Congress that attempted to help our president undermine our democracy.” While the Capitol was technically closed to the public on Jan. 5 due to COVID-19 restrictions, accepting only tours with members’ families and staff, more than 30 Democratic legislators, led by Sherrill, signed a letter asking for acting House Sergeant-at-Arms Timothy Blodgett, acting Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Jennifer Hemingway, and acting Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman to investigate “suspicious behavior and access given to visitors to the Capitol Complex on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 — the day before the attacks on the Capitol.” […] As Politico noted, neither the letter nor Sherrill named any specific members, explained how giving tours was “reconnaissance,” nor said how tours might have fueled or enabled the riot. Sherrill also did not respond to The Federalist’s questions about who might have allowed these reportedly “suspicious” tours to occur.

Imprimis – Larry Arnn: Orwell’s 1984 and Today
I taught a course this fall semester on totalitarian novels. We read four of them: George Orwell’s 1984, Arthur Koestler’s Darkness at Noon, Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, and C.S. Lewis’s That Hideous Strength. The totalitarian novel is a relatively new genre. In fact, the word “totalitarian” did not exist before the 20th century. The older word for the worst possible form of government is “tyranny”—a word Aristotle defined as the rule of one person, or of a small group of people, in their own interests and according to their will. Totalitarianism was unknown to Aristotle, because it is a form of government that only became possible after the emergence of modern science and technology. The old word “science” comes from a Latin word meaning “to know.” The new word “technology” comes from a Greek word meaning “to make.” The transition from traditional to modern science means that we are not so much seeking to know when we study nature as seeking to make things—and ultimately, to remake nature itself. That spirit of remaking nature—including human nature—greatly emboldens both human beings and governments. Imbued with that spirit, and employing the tools of modern science, totalitarianism is a form of government that reaches farther than tyranny and attempts to control the totality of things. In the beginning of his history of the Persian War, Herodotus recounts that in Persia it was considered illegal even to think about something that was illegal to do—in other words, the law sought to control people’s thoughts. Herodotus makes plain that the Persians were not able to do this. We today are able to get closer through the use of modern technology. In Orwell’s 1984, there are telescreens everywhere, as well as hidden cameras and microphones. Nearly everything you do is watched and heard. It even emerges that the watchers have become expert at reading people’s faces. The organization that oversees all this is called the Thought Police.  If it sounds far-fetched, look at China today: . . .Read more at Hillsdale’s Imprimis.

DiLorenzo: The Democrat Reign of Terror Begins
Mark Twain once said “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes.” The Democrats and the Far Left are using the Reichstag Fire of 1933 as their model to limit or curtail our liberties. They have no intention of creating unity with the Right, only demanding surrender, the end of a two-party system. In 1933, the Reichstag, home of the German parliament in Berlin, was the subject of an arson attack. A German court found that a Dutch communist was responsible, although it still remains a mystery. Some theorize that Hitler’s Brown Shirts were responsible or at least had a hand in it. In any case, the Nazi Party used the incident as a pretext to claim that communists were plotting against the government and were planning a violent uprising. Hitler urged President von Hindenburg to pursue a ‘ruthless confrontation’ with the Communist Party of Germany. It spelled the end of the Weimar Republic’s democracy and the beginning of Hitler’s National Socialism. Soon after the confrontation began, Germany halted freedom of expression, along with freedom of the press, freedom of association and public assembly. The Nazis used gun ownership records to confiscate guns, but many managed to stash away weapons well into the late 30s. Some people will be indignant saying I’m comparing Nazis to the Democrat Party. Well, let’s take a look.

Sundance: Former Facebook Executive Advocates for Reeducation and Deprogramming to Protect The U.S. Totalitarian State
They are no longer hiding it any more. The leftists are publicly demanding that government intervene using the same tactics deployed against ISIS propaganda to target wrong-think by conservative American citizens. Those who helped install the JoeBama administration cannot have subversive voices refusing to comply with their ideological dictates. This is not the slippery slope, this is the full-blown advocacy of the totalitarian state. They openly demand that alternate points of view and opinions must be shut-down to advance the left-wing agenda. Remarkable.

Sacca: Katie Couric wants to know how we will ‘deprogram people who signed up for the cult of Trump’
During her appearance on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” Katie Couric attacked Republican members of Congress and President Donald Trump. Couric went so far as to ask, “How are we going to really almost deprogram these people who have signed up for the cult of Trump?” […] “It is so shocking. … Not only are they not conceding, Bill, but their thoughts – that there might have been some collusion among members of Congress, some are refusing to go through magnetometers … to check for weapons, they’re not wearing masks during this siege,” Couric told Bill Maher.

EDUCATION – NO, INDOCTRINATION

Rufo: Woke Elementary
An elementary school in Cupertino, California—a Silicon Valley community with a median home price of $2.3 million—recently forced a class of third-graders to deconstruct their racial identities, then rank themselves according to their “power and privilege.” Based on whistleblower documents and parents familiar with the session, a third-grade teacher at R.I. Meyerholz Elementary School began the lesson on “social identities” during a math class. The teacher asked all students to create an “identity map,” listing their race, class, gender, religion, family structure, and other characteristics. The teacher explained that the students live in a “dominant culture” of “white, middle class, cisgender, educated, able-bodied, Christian, English speaker[s],” who, according to the lesson, “created and maintained” this culture in order “to hold power and stay in power.” Next, reading from This Book Is Antiracist, the students learned that “those with privilege have power over others” and that “folx who do not benefit from their social identities, who are in the subordinate culture, have little to no privilege and power.” As an example, the reading states that “a white, cisgender man, who is able-bodied, heterosexual, considered handsome and speaks English has more privilege than a Black transgender woman.” In some cases, because of the principle of intersectionality, “there are parts of us that hold some power and other parts that are oppressed,” even within a single individual. Following this discussion, the teacher . . . […] One parent told me that critical race theory was reminiscent of the Chinese Cultural Revolution.
