NOTABLE QUOTES

Raheem J. Kassam contributor to National Pulse: Americans, let Australia be a lesson, but not in the way the left has suggested for nearly three decades. Never, ever, never give up your guns.

Stacy Weiner senior staff writer for AAMC: Medical students make a variety of promises at graduation and white coat ceremonies — and even write their own oaths. What they include, from social activism to self-care, would surprise Hippocrates.

Robert Busek contributor to The Federalist: For decades, members of the educational establishment have used the need for socialization to argue that kids are better off in government-run schools than being taught at home. Recent developments in American education during the Age of COVID, however, reveal that this argument is not just fundamentally flawed, but officially dead.

Gainesville, Florida court granted a temporary injunction against the vaccine mandate: “Federal law holds that compelled physical intrusion into the human body is an invasion of bodily integrity that implicates significant, constitutionally protected privacy interests.”

PRESIDENT TRUMP

Bartow: Trump Doubles Down On Wuhan Lab Leak Theory, As Former Intelligence Chief Pushes For Declassification
Former President Donald Trump and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reaffirmed that they believe COVID-19 originated from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in comments aired in a documentary Tuesday. “I think that it escaped from the lab through incompetence,” Trump told Australian Sky News host Sharri Markson in the documentary “What Really Happened in Wuhan,” available on Fox Nation. He does not think the virus’s release was on purpose since that would “essentially be war” and China suffered too. Asked if U.S. officials spoke to Chinese defectors from the lab, Trump said he could not discuss that. “Some of the intelligence is classified and I can’t talk about it,” he told Markson. There is “compelling intelligence” the virus originated from the lab but it has not been declassified because it would endanger the people who shared it and expose other sources, former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe said in the documentary.

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS SEIZED CONTROL OF THE MEDICAL PROFESSION

Piper: ‘People are going to die’: Governors, lawmakers rip Biden rationing of COVID treatment as partisan
“People are going to die” because the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is rationing the distribution of Regeneron’s monoclonal antibody treatment to states including Texas, Republican Rep. Brian Babin, a member of the  GOP Doctors Caucus, said on the John Solomon Reports podcast. “This is a federal takeover, and really seemingly punishing six conservative Republican red states” that have successfully treated COVID patients while resisting the president’s mandates, said Babin, a longtime dentist who represents parts of Houston. Texas and other states “are being cut 30 to 50%,” he claimed.
[…]  “The manufacturer has confirmed supplies are ample but due to the Defense Production Act, the White House and [its] agencies are the only entities who can purchase and distribute” what Keough called “a non-controversial and highly successful treatment.” He questioned the timing of the change, less than a week after President Biden blamed unvaccinated Americans for his decision to mandate COVID vaccines for 100 million Americans.

PERHAPS THIS EXPLAINS HOW THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WAS ABLE TO SEIZE CONTROL OF THE MEDICAL PROFESSION

(July 2018) Weiner: The solemn truth about medical oaths
Medical students make a variety of promises at graduation and white coat ceremonies — and even write their own oaths. What they include, from social activism to self-care, would surprise Hippocrates. Each year, thousands of graduating medical students across the country don caps and gowns and vow to uphold the highest ideals of their new profession. The uninitiated might assume they recite the Hippocratic Oath, a venerable document enumerating ideals for physicians that dates back more than two millennia. In reality, though, that’s hardly the case. Instead, today’s medical students recite a vast — and growing — range of oaths. In 2015, more than half of medical school graduations featured an oath unique to that school, compared to 9% in 1982, according to a 2017 Academic Medicine study. What’s more, students increasingly work together before graduations and white coat ceremonies to choose or craft their own oaths, creating a personalized declaration of what it means to be a physician. […]  . . . it was only around 20 years ago that schools began to allow students to craft their own promises. […]  But oath-building is not without its downsides, some note. “Local ownership and pluralism and diversity have their place, but at what cost?” asks Lauris Kaldjian, MD, PhD, coauthor of a 2018 study on oaths and director of the bioethics and humanities program at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, where the curriculum includes content on the school’s oath. Says Kaldjian, “Consistency would help society see that physicians are members of a profession that’s committed to a shared set of essential ethical values.”

(REPOST) Noel, MD: Why Do Doctors Go Along with COVID Panic Porn and CDC Prescriptions?
I recently had a conversation with a reasonably well informed writer who simply missed the real reasons why most practicing physicians go along with the Fauci Fraud.  As a public service, I will attempt to fill in a few gaps.  But first, I must define the fraud. There are two basic legs to the fraud.  First is the idea that the Centers for Disease Control is in any way concerned with a mission related to its name.  The failure of the CDC to endorse any treatment that did not emanate from its exalted halls should give us our first glint of clarity.  There are literally millions of physicians around the world, and the great bulk of them truly wish to treat their patients well.  Among those are thousands of researchers, a number far in excess of those at the CDC, the NIH, and other alphabet soup government agencies.  The very idea that outside researchers are incapable of discovering anything useful without the help of the bureaucrats in D.C. is hubris of the highest order.  And it prevents the CDC, the FDA, or any other such agency from considering the idea that maybe, just possibly, there might be intelligent life down here.  Mount Olympus cannot be threatened. The second leg of the fraud is less visible to the naked eye but much more powerful.  If I wrote this before I retired, I would be called before the Board of my group and told in no uncertain terms to shut up.  I might even be assessed a financial penalty with several zeroes after the one.  That’s a serious impairment of my pursuit of happiness.  The reason for my group’s dislike is more than the fact that I might be an irritant.  They may actually agree with what I have to say.  But they simply cannot afford for me to say it.  That’s right: as a practicing physician in a group, my freedom of speech can become very expensive…to the group.

BEHIND THE DEEP STATE: FDA

Orient, MD: COVID-19: How Good Is The Science On COVID Vaccines?
I’m sure you are in favor of “following the science” on COVID vaccinations. A basic principle of the scientific method is that you need a control group. To detect a difference, say in adverse reactions, between the treated group and the control, you need a big enough control group. As this graph shows, you need to have 50% in the control group to be sure that you have at least an 80% chance of detecting a statistically significant difference. […]  Another absolute requirement for scientific research is complete reporting. Probably, 90% or more of adverse reactions are not reported to the Vaccine Adverse Reactions System (VAERS). As revealed by Project Veritas, reporting may be actively discouraged.

Stark: Hormonal Birth Control Is Killing Women. Why Won’t The FDA Talk About It?
Phexxi was approved by the FDA over a year ago, but only in the past week has its manufacturer, Evofem, begun marketing the product in earnest. With this shiny new campaign, Evofem is betting on the recently heightened search among women for non-hormonal birth control options. […]  When compared to women who are not on the pill or other forms of hormonal contraception, the population of women on hormonal contraception exhibits increased risk (higher prevalence rates) for the following conditions: breast cancer (19-37 percent higher risk), blood clots and other cardiovascular risks (80 percent), cervical cancer (60-220 percent), bone fracture (7 percent for COCs, and 40 percent for progestin-only), certain autoimmune diseases (Crohn’s Disease: 44 percent, Ulcerative Colitis: 18 percent, Lupus: 19-130 percent, Interstitial Cystitis: 131 percent), female sexual dysfunction, depression (10 percent for COCs, and 20 percent for progestin-only), and even attempted suicide (97 percent) and completed suicide (208 percent). When compared to women who are not on the Depo-Provera “birth control shot,” women on Depo exhibit a 40-49 percent higher prevalence for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), the virus that causes Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDs). In other words, the Depo shot appears to increase a woman’s susceptibility for contracting HIV. (Data supporting all of the relative risks deduced in this paragraph by the lead author of the citizens petition, Dr. William V. Williams, can be found in the complete citizens petition, which is available for download here.)

2020 ELECTION

Walsh: What Will Democrats Do about the Maricopa County 2020 Election Audit?
Maricopa’s guilty parties are not going down without a fight.  We need to be ready for what comes next.  Lucky for us, we already know what the adversary’s next few moves will be; it’s not the first time the Democrats have been caught rigging elections.  The Democrats’ standard response is denial and misdirection.  Denial needs no explanation.  As for misdirection, here are an explanation, a demonstration, and a practical exercise in how the game is played. The explanation: The Democrat party, like every leftist organization, is divided into two groups — a small inner cadre of senior party members called the Nomenklatura and all the others.  All others are apparatchiks.  Apparatchiks are expendable items.  When fraud and other crimes can no longer be denied, the Nomenklatura toss an apparatchik or two under the bus.  The public, seeing this, thinks things have changed.  The public is wrong.  The Nomenklatura remains in control, and the corruption continues.

GOP

Strack: Lawmakers Demand National Archives Remove ‘Harmful Content’ Warnings On Founding Documents
House Republicans are demanding the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) stop politicizing American heritage, weeks after the Archives slapped a “harmful content” warning on Founding-era documents including the U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights.
Texas Rep. Brian Babin and 44 other House Republicans authored a scathing letter to Archivist of the United States David S. Ferriero on Tuesday. The letter called on the Archives to remove the warning that is displayed atop all online cataloged documents. “We are deeply concerned by the National Archives Record Administration’s ‘harmful content’ warning displayed on the Archives’ cataloged website, including on seminal documents such as the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and the U.S. Constitution,” the lawmakers wrote.

Piper: ‘Actual malice’: Courts greenlight Devin Nunes defamation lawsuits against mainstream media
Journalists who get into public spats with politicians may want to rethink their eagerness to pour salt into old wounds, at least in the middle of litigation. The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals resurrected a defamation lawsuit by Rep. Devin Nunes against Ryan Lizza and Hearst Media, because the journalist called attention to his article on Nunes and illegal immigrant laborers after the California Republican sued. “I noticed that Devin Nunes is in the news,” Lizza tweeted in November 2019, more than a year after his article was published: “If you’re interested in a strange tale about Nunes, small-town Iowa, the complexities of immigration policy, a few car chases, and lots of cows, I’ve got a story for you.”

FAUCI’S VIRUS: IT’S POLITICAL

Feoktistov: How Massachusetts Annihilated Private Property Rights In The Name Of COVID Restrictions
In the waning days of 2020, as COVID-19 cases in Massachusetts were summiting the highest peak of the pandemic, the Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) of Massachusetts decided that the First Amendment’s Assembly Clause does not protect private assembly by private citizens in “private homes.” According to the state’s high court, whether, when, and how the citizens of Massachusetts may gather in each other’s dens and bedrooms are all questions of “significant government interest” to the state’s governor, and are therefore within his regulatory power. An appeal of this wrong decision, made in a case called Desrosiers v. Baker, is now among the 1,298 petitions that the U.S. Supreme Court will consider for review at its so-called Long Conference on Sept. 27. The odds that the Supreme Court will agree to hear the case are slim. The justices usually deny 99 percent of petitions for review, with only about a dozen cases making the cut. The stakes, however, are high.

BIDEN/HARRIS/OBAMA REGIME: TRANSFORMING AMERICA

Dershowitz: The Squalid “Squad” Is Trying to Destroy Bipartisan Support for Israel
The fact that the Squad picked on the Iron Dome to make its stand against Israel is significant. The Iron Dome is a system developed jointly by the United States and Israel that is purely defensive. It does not kill, injure, or threaten anyone. It only protects civilians against war crimes committed by terrorist groups that direct lethal rockets against innocent civilians. The fact that the Squad would try to deny Israel the right to defend its civilians speaks volumes about the lack of morality and decency among Squad members and their allies. It follows from this effort that the Squad will oppose any and all aid to Israel, including protecting its innocent civilians against Iran’s nuclear threat. The obvious goal of Squad members is to deny Israel the right to defend itself against aggression. At least one of its members has denied that Israel has the right to exist.

(August Imprimis – Hillsdale College) Morgan: The Disaster at Our Southern Border
In just a few short months, the Biden administration has created a disaster on the southern border of the United States. It did so by methodically—and by all indications intentionally—undoing every meaningful border security measure that had been in place. As a result, we have had five straight months of over 170,000 illegal immigrants apprehended at the border. The number in June was the highest in over 20 years. And Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been effectively shut down. Our national discussion of border security is generally misleading, and it is designed to be misleading by those who favor open borders. They frame the issue as if the American people face a binary choice: either let all immigrants in because they are “looking for a better life” or close our borders completely and inhumanely. But this is a false choice. The unspoken alternative is to enforce the law, taking in immigrants who enter the U.S. legally while securing our borders against those who attempt to enter illegally—particularly those meaning to do us harm.

Cunningham: Meanwhile, the Biden Administration Seems Poised to Let Insulin Prices Spike
. . .  the Biden administration is quietly moving ahead with a plan that will cost many taxpayers a lot at the pharmacy. […]  Roughly 10 percent of the American public has diabetes, and a new report indicates that the country’s three major insulin makers are jacking up their profits by refusing to sell it at a discount to a bunch of community pharmacies. […] . . . the Biden administration is, after all, reversing a Trump-era rule, which is the catalyst for the upcoming price hike.

Daley: Biden Nominee Helped Free Robber, Accused Sex-Trafficker
As a lawyer in private practice, Maryland U.S. attorney nominee Erek Barron provided pro bono assistance to Isaiah McCoy, a remarkably successful criminal defendant turned jailhouse lawyer. McCoy avoided a death sentence and federal sex trafficking charges thanks to prosecutorial sloppiness and assistance from lawyers like Barron. McCoy delivered a keynote address at a 2017 American Bar Association awards dinner, where Barron introduced him. “Erek Barron is the latest example of the Biden administration’s focus on criminal leniency rather than public safety or the rule of law,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) told the Washington Free Beacon. “He would bring to the Maryland United States Attorney’s Office more of the same soft-on-crime approach that has already made Baltimore one of the most dangerous cities in the country, and more innocent people would be victimized as a result.”

Hagstrom: Biden Vows Executive Action After Republicans Kill Dem Police Reform Bill
Biden released a statement Wednesday acknowledging that there is no longer a path forward for the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, which had already passed through the House. Democratic New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and Democratic California Rep. Karen Bass introduced the legislation earlier this year, but failed to garner enough Republican support in the Senate.

AN AMERICA IN DECLINE

VDH: Civilization Requires Deterrence
Deterrence is the ancient ability to scare somebody off from hurting you, your friends, or your interests—without a major war.  Desire peace? Then be prepared for war. Or so the Romans believed. It’s an easily understood concept in the abstract. But deterrence still remains a mystical quality in the concrete since it is only acquired with difficulty and yet easily forfeited. The tired democracies of the 1930s learned that lesson when they kept acquiescing to Hitler’s serial aggressions. Hitler’s Germany foolishly later attacked a far stronger Soviet Union in 1941, given Moscow’s lost deterrence after its lackluster performances in Poland and Finland, its pact with the Nazis, and its recent purges of its own officer corps. Deterrence is omnipresent and also applies well beyond matters of war and peace. The current crime wave of murder and violent assault in our major cities is the wage of loud efforts to defund the police and contextualize crimes as somehow society’s rather than the criminal’s fault.

Fischer: How Afghanistan May Have Saved America
Afghanistan — of all places — may have saved America. An important part of our democracy has been stolen from us — far more devastating than the right to vote. Democracy cannot work, despite the ostensible presence of other freedoms, when the mediacracy are tyrannical. The media are called the “Fourth Estate,” and they are a critical lynchpin in democracy. We rely on them to investigate fraud when no one on either side within “The System” will do so. When corruption so permeates the very System itself, when players on both sides come to realize that their best personal game is to allow corruption to fester — “you rub my back, and I’ll rub your back” — all we have left are the media. With their own theoretically independent funding and their own theoretical motivation to lead the way uncovering Truth, they have comprised democracy’s safety net since John Peter Zenger. How sad it is that we now are rearing generations of Ignoranti at colleges that are so focused on 1619 Projects and Systemic Yada-Yada that every college student knows about trash like Cardi B but not one in a hundred knows who Zenger was . . . or Nathan Hale. Patrick Henry got it wrong: Give me education, or give me death. Oh yeah. They never heard of Patrick Henry either. The media uncovered not only Watergate but also the abasements of Monica Lewinsky and Paula Corbin Jones and Gennifer Flowers and Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey. They exposed Iran-Contra but also the Bay of Pigs. Until the past quarter-century, they certainly tilted so far left that, if they were a pinball machine, the game would have been canceled. But they also exposed the other side. They now are a different media.

ANOTHER HOMESCHOOLING MYTH DOA

Busek: Remote Learning Killed The Myth That Homeschooled Children Are The Ones Who Lack Socialization
Ask any homeschooling parent to discuss the pushback that he’s received from friends and family over the years and he’ll tell you that the need for his children to be “properly socialized” has topped the list of concerns. “How will your kids learn to interact with different kinds of people if they don’t go to school?” these mostly well-meaning people ask, implying that learning at home will doom your children to a life of misanthropic isolation. The long-standing myth that homeschooled children grow up to be socially awkward is easily debunked because it proceeds from the false (indeed, patently absurd) premise that, prior to the advent of mass public schooling in the mid-nineteenth century, children did not learn to get along with either their peers or other social groups.  This myth persists despite multiple studies that reveal that a majority of homeschooled children are just as well-socialized (or even better socialized) than their public school peers.  The socialization process is somewhat different for homeschooling parents, but these differences (largely in parental supervision and diversity of age range in social groups) are key benefits of homeschooling, not flaws. For decades, members of the educational establishment have used the need for socialization to argue that kids are better off in government-run schools than being taught at home. Recent developments in American education during the Age of COVID, however, reveal that this argument is not just fundamentally flawed, but officially dead.
