(Arizona) Neff: New Evidence Sent To AG As Congress Hears From Maricopa County, Audit Officials
Three of Arizona’s Congressmen, Reps. Andy Biggs, Paul Gosar, and Greg Stanton, sit on the Oversight Committee. In his opening comments, Biggs called out the hypocrisy of those who championed the fact the Cyber Ninjas’ audit report confirmed Joe Biden’s victory while they also claim such audits are an existential threat to democracy and undermine faith in election integrity. Maricopa County’s board chairman, Jack Sellers, and vice chairman Bill Gates were also in Washington D.C. to testify under oath to the Oversight Committee. At one point in their testimony, the supervisors acknowledged to Biggs that some election-related files were intentionally removed from the county’s election management system. But instead of deleting the files as the Cyber Ninjas report alleges, the supervisors claim the files were simply archived to make room for new files. As to why the county did not turn over those archive records or backup logs, county officials claim neither of the two Senate subpoenas specifically asked for those items, even though the subpoenas did ask for the data from its original location. That response made under oath caught the attention of Senate President Karen Fann. “It was interesting to hear the Supervisors admit they deleted files and then purposely withheld that information from the Senate and the auditors,” Fann said. “Thank you Congressman Biggs for pushing for the truth.”

The Right Scoop: Senate Democrats pass debt ceiling increase with a little help from these Republicans
Democrats in the Senate passed the short-term debt ceiling deal tonight by a two vote margin, 50-48: . . .  In order to get to the actual vote, Republicans had to help them get past cloture since they had a deal. Here are the Republicans who got Democrats the 61 votes they needed: Republican Sens. John Cornyn (R-Texas), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), Rob Portman (R-Ohio), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), John Thune (R-S.D.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D) and Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) — a mix of moderates, retirees and leadership — joined McConnell in helping reach the 60-vote threshold to invoke cloture and move the Senate toward a floor vote. Cloture passed 61-38. Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), who is not running for reelection, didn’t vote.

Like religion, the traditional family poses a rival authority to liberalism’s arrogant conception of the state. Consequently, liberals view religious freedom and parental authority with suspicion and often hostility. Liberals are keenly aware that the fulfillment of their statist goals — pushing propaganda about abortion, transgenderism, critical race theory, socialism, and so on — depends upon isolating children from the influences of religion and family. It is this view that drives liberalism’s opposition to parental consent and notification laws and its distaste for private education and homeschooling. Last year, a Harvard law professor argued for a ban on homeschooling, saying that it represents a danger to a “democratic society.” Hillary Clinton used to say that “it takes a village” to raise a child, a collectivist slogan which suggested that children belonged to the state first, not parents. Spelling this view out even more explicitly, Melissa Harris-Perry, a pundit for MSNBC, said that “we have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to their communities.” In order to succeed in building a “woke” country,” liberals recognize that they have to herd as many children as possible into the collective, so as to make them pliable and easily propagandized.

Rufo: Biden Criminalizes CRT Dissent
The NSBA deliberately misrepresents debates at school board meetings as “threats” and sometimes-vociferous and angry speech as “violence.” The letter refers to dozens of news stories alluding to “disruptions,” “shouts,” “argument,” and “mobs,” but, contrary to its core claim, cites only a single example of actual violence against a school official: a case of aggravated battery in Illinois, which is obviously condemnable, but hardly the justification for a national “domestic terrorism” investigation. The association even fabricated entire storylines to support its political objectives. For example, the NSBA claims that a Tennessee school board official named Jon White resigned due to “threats and acts of violence”; the linked source, however, reports that White resigned for “concerns about too much time away from his family,” with no mention of threats or violence. (In another local report, White complains about parents calling him a “child abuser” and other epithets, which, while harsh, are hardly the equivalent of an “act of violence.”) Still, despite the school board association’s flimsy pretext, the Biden administration appears to be doing its bidding. Garland’s memo instructs the FBI to coordinate with “federal, state, local, Tribal, and territorial law enforcement” to develop plans to “discourage these threats, identify them when they occur, and prosecute them when appropriate.” NSBA director Chip Slaven and national teachers’ union president Randi Weingarten immediately praised Garland’s aggressive actions.
This is a deeply politicized and dangerous escalation in the debate about critical race theory in public schools.

Washington Examiner Editorial: Biden environmental regulations will only sabotage America’s recovery
One would think that with his approval ratings in free fall, including his ratings on the handling of the economy, that President Joe Biden would be looking for every opportunity to stimulate the American economy. Sorry — no such luck. This week, Biden rolled back common-sense regulatory reforms that had been instituted by President Donald Trump, making it easier for environmental activists to obstruct and delay any infrastructure project that receives even a single dime of federal funds. At issue is the National Environmental Policy Act, a relic of the 1970s, which empowers environmental radicals to go to federal court to stop any federal infrastructure project. Whether their case is meritorious or not, they can easily cause significant delays. The cost of interstate highway construction, for example, has tripled since NEPA became law, making the U.S. one of the least efficient infrastructure investors in the entire world. The average environmental review required by NEPA now takes an average of four and a half years and runs thousands of pages long.

GOP support for the legislation is scarce; it passed through the House in August along party lines. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has previously called the bill “unnecessary.” […] Congressional gridlock on voting rights and other Democratic priorities has prompted a growing number of advocates and lawmakers to call for some level of filibuster reform, but moderate Democrats Sens. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) have balked at supporting that strategy.
