NOTABLE QUOTES

Aristotle (384–322 B.C.E.) Greek philosopher who was taught by Plato:  “Tolerance is the last virtue of a dying society.”

John Simpson contributor to American Thinker: If we don’t fight out of fear of the tyrannical Marxist Democrat Jokers who are using every weapon at their disposal to corrupt our children, our military, our elections, and our freedoms, for which brave Americans have fought, shed oceans of blood and treasure and died since the Founding Fathers fought the brutal British Empire of King George III, you can look forward to their jackboots stamping on the faces of We the American People forever.

Heather Long WaPo Economics Correspondent tweeted: “BREAKING: Inflation was up 5.4% over last year in September – the highest rate in 13 years. Prices rose 0.4% in Sept, up from 0.3% in August Gas, food and goods continue to be key drivers of inflation. Used car prices fell slightly but remain 24% higher than last year.”

Bruce Thornton contributor to Frontpage Magazine: Holding our energy policy hostage to a dubious hypothesis about a global climate we as yet do not understand sufficiently––not to mention indulging mythic longings and dreams that are the luxuries of the prosperous well-fed––is dangerous. The first obligation of a government, and the people who select the officers of that government, is to protect the nation’s security and interests, particularly its economy–– and the cheap energy that powers it–– that funds their way of life.

Theodore Roosevelt Malloch contributor to American Greatness: Deep state was perhaps best defined by Mike Lofgren, a former congressional aide, as “a hybrid association of elements of government and parts of top-level finance and industry that is effectively able to govern the United States without reference to the consent of the governed as expressed through the formal political process.”

Daniel Greenfield contributor to Frontpage Magazine: We’re talking about the population of Kansas City being dumped into the United States since March. 160,000 illegal aliens, at least, have been allowed to invade America even as much of the country is living under a ruthlessly restrictive regime that prevents them from doing so many things.

Byron York contributor to the Washington Examiner:  The big picture: Only a small percentage of the people at the “armed insurrection” were armed with anything. And just five of them — less than 1% of those charged — have been charged with possessing firearms, which are the traditional weapon of choice for modern armed insurrectionists. One of them didn’t even arrive until after it was all over. And none fired the weapons.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) in a Fox News interview on 10/13/21: “Everyone in the country wants to know. I think most people in the world wants to know how did this virus start except for China, Dr. Fauci and the Democrats. Now, why is that?’

Professor Jonathan Turley legal scholar and Democrat: I do not agree with the arguments against the vaccine. I and my family are vaccinated. However, I am equally concerned with avoiding the growing virus of censorship. In the last few years, we have seen an increasing call for private censorship from Democratic politicians and liberal commentators. Faculty and editors are now actively supporting modern versions of book-burning with blacklists and bans for those with opposing political views. The most chilling aspect of this story is how many on the left applaud such censorship. A new poll shows roughly half of the public supporting not just corporate censorship but government censorship of anything deemed “misinformation.”

Sean Ross Callaghan contributor to American Greatness: . . . around 1974, we got the current word: “transgendered.” Sex is reproductive, but there is no such thing as transsexual reproduction. To conceal the contradiction in the word transsexual, “sexual” got replaced with “gendered.” Gender has nothing to do with reproduction. It’s harder to claim that a transgendered woman is not really a woman because a transgendered woman is explicitly defined to mean whatever results from a s0-called transition, regardless of the capacity to reproduce.

GOP

Bolton: McConnell gets GOP wake-up call
The backlash Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) received from fellow Republican senators last week is a wake-up call to the GOP leader that he doesn’t have any more political capital to spend on helping Democrats raise the debt limit again, say GOP aides and strategists. McConnell is still secure in his position as Senate Republican leader, despite regular attacks from former President Trump, who has called for him to be replaced. Yet at the same time, Senate Republican aides and strategists say McConnell’s reputation took a hit last week when he agreed to a two-month increase of the debt ceiling after saying for weeks that Republicans wouldn’t help Democrats on the issue.  McConnell didn’t announce his offer to Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) until he released a statement Wednesday, and many Senate Republicans were kept in the dark about it until the statement was made public.

2022 ELECTION

Sundance: Peter Thiel Helping to Fund MAGA Primary Challenges Against Republicans Who Voted to Impeach President Trump
Progressive Democrats, Wall Street multinationals and the RNC establishment are pouring money into Republican incumbents like Liz Cheney in order to keep the UniParty structure as strong as possible in Washington DC.   The RNC, led by Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, is upholding a club rule not to give any Republican Party funding to primary challengers.   Ronna McDaniel plays for the other team. Up until now, it has been grassroots donations funding GOP candidates/challengers who seek to defeat the DeceptiCons in the 2022 primary races.  However, some big money is coming in on our side to help the cause.  Removing Liz Cheney is one of the top priorities. According to the latest campaign contributions, constantly reviewed by the Politico strategy team who are aligning the Democrat defenses against a massive MAGA wave next year, PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel, a friend of the blue-collar billionaire team and a Main Street MAGA supporter, is now stepping in to assist the challengers with financing. […]  Here’s the Ten DeceptiCon House members who voted to impeach President Trump over a totally bogus accusation.  These ten House Republican members also supported Nancy Pelosi in creating the January 6th Commission to help re-elect Democrats.  [*Note Anthony Gonzalez (OH) already conceded and will not run again] […]  If you’ve been in the battle for a while, you know what to do: . . .

JANUARY 6

York: Was Jan. 6 an ‘Armed Insurrection’?
It has become common in some circles to call the Jan. 6 Capitol riot an “armed insurrection.” That leads to a few questions: How many rioters were armed? And what weapons did they have? What were the arms in the “armed insurrection”? The Justice Department maintains a website listing the defendants and the federal charges against them in the sprawling Capitol riot investigation. At this moment, about 670 people have been charged, many of them with misdemeanors like “Parading, Demonstrating or Picketing in a Capitol Building.” Of the 670, I counted 82 who face weapons-related charges. That’s about 12% of the total. And of course, the number of people charged with anything, 670, is far smaller than the number who were on Capitol grounds that day. The 82 face one or more of four possible charges: . . . […]  For each charge, prosecutors have specified the weapon the defendant is accused of using. Here is a representative list of those weapons: . . . […]  Obviously, guns are the most serious concern. Of the 670, five suspects — Christopher Michael Alberts, Lonnie Leroy Coffman, Mark Sami Ibrahim, Cleveland Grover Meredith Jr. and Guy Wesley Reffitt — are charged with possessing firearms. But none are charged with using them during the riot. […]  Were there more? Since few arrests were made on the scene, maybe so. We don’t know. What is certain is that none of the suspects fired any guns at any time during the riot, even though the physical fighting became quite intense. The only shot that was fired during that time was by Capitol Police Lt. Michael Byrd, who shot and killed rioter Ashli Babbitt . . .

HISTORY 101

American Minute with Bill Federer: Plato: Tyrants seize Power by Promising to Protect People — A Study of How Democracies Fall
Plato was a Greek philosopher who lived in the city-state of Athens. In 380 BC, Plato wrote The Republic, where he described in Books 8 and 9: “States are as the men are; they grow out of human characters.” “Like state, like man.”  The Republic is written by Plato as a collection of conversations made by his
teacher, Socrates. It gives insights into human behavior which is amazingly applicable to today. Plato described government going through FIVE STAGES: we count as one Royal and Aristocratical…” followed by Timocratical, Oligarchical, Democratical, Tyrannical. Plato’s FIRST stage was called “Royal” or
“Aristocracy … whom we rightly  call just and good.” This is a government led by hard-working, virtuous LOVERS OF “TRUTH” and “WISDOM.” These are responsible individuals who know how to successfully run businesses, farms, and entrepreneurial enterprises, leaving them ideally equipped with the skills to successfully run a city government.

THE DEMOCRAT LED WAR ON AMERICA’S CHILDREN

Hay: Mass COVID vaccination of our youth is a looming moral and public-health catastrophe
Since asking Bishop Richard Stika of Knoxville, Tennessee, to revoke his recommendation that minors be vaccinated, the most common objection we have heard is: “What about the hundreds of children who have died from COVID? Shouldn’t we be vaccinating everyone to protect such vulnerable children?” In a recent interview celebrating the emergency-use authorization of the Pfizer vaccine for children as young as 5, Pittsburgh pediatrician Andrew Nowalk made this argument and said, “Hopefully, we’ll be vaccinating a lot of kids by Halloween.” Before explaining why these vaccinations are bad for our youth, I must first point out that it is unscientific to point to a control group and say, “Look, hundreds of people died! Therefore, we must all take MyPetMedicine to prevent/cure the disease which killed them!” This non sequitur is the purview of snake-oil salesmen, not physicians. I reiterate: There are no double-blind studies published in any peer-reviewed scientific journal which show a superior health outcome for COVID-vaccinated minors vs. unvaccinated.

Martinez: Father whose daughter was ‘raped’ in girls’ bathroom by ‘skirt-wearing’ male student slams AG Merrick Garland for threatening parents who protest school boards after he was dragged out of Loudoun County for trying to say staff ignored incident
The Virginia father who was arrested at a school board meeting while protesting its proposed transgender policies after claiming his daughter was raped in a girls’ bathroom by ‘skirt-wearing’ male student has slammed Merrick Garland for threatening parents who protest school boards. Scott Smith, 48, appeared on Fox News‘ The Ingraham Angle and spoke out after he was  photographed being dragged out of a school board in Leesburg, Virginia meeting this June and was painted by the left to be a deranged, right-wing bigot. Smith told host Laura Ingraham that his daughter was sexually attacked at Stone Bridge High School on May 28 by a boy ‘wearing in a skirt’ who took advantage of the school’s trans policies to get into the girls’ bathrooms and assault her. And he slammed Attorney General Merrick Garland for clamping down on protests at board meetings. […]  Smith told host Laura Ingraham that he was trying to stick up for his daughter when he was dragged from the meeting, and says his family was confronted by activists at the meeting when he spoke out against the trans policies.

Callaghan: The New Gender Religion Tricks Liberals into Betraying Children
The new gospel requires school staff to say “she” even when they mean “he.” It lets boys play on girls’ sports teams and compete against other girls. It lets boys into girls’ locker rooms to change for swim class. Gender may be “reassigned.” Biological sex dissolves. Everything that once reflected sex is now said to reflect gender. “Transitioning” is this religion’s central sacrament. How do gender priests transform the bread and wine of contradiction into undeniable truths? How do they claim to know that your children should be bound by their shocking new laws? Is it biology? Liberal ideals? Divine revelation?
No. Gender priests claim to find their new religion in the mysteries of language itself. In other words, word games. We should no sooner listen to a gender priest inspired by word games than to a medicine man inspired by astrology. A sick establishment uses word games to force society to accept contradictions. That isn’t the theory of some Christian zealot or Reaganite culture warrior. It’s the theory of Herbert Marcuse, the late founder of the New Left. His 1964 classic One Dimensional Man inaugurated a critical theory still used by Marxists today—and gender religion would be far too much, even for a liberal like him.
The new gender religion is, in fact, a triumph of what Marcuse most despised—a bad kind of thinking he ironically called “positive thought.” Positive thought leads to a kind of word gaming called “positive language.”

Simpson: Practical Ways To Push Back Against Leftist Indoctrination In Public Schools
. . .what’s arguably most important for America’s future is what’s happening in America’s schools. The left thinks it’s important too, which is why the FBI, fresh off its legal $86,000,000.00 bank robbery in Beverly Hills, is offering its fedboi protection racket to authoritarian Marxist school board members who are under siege from angry parents nationwide. […]  So, how do concerned citizens respond to the Pearl Harbor perpetrated on American parents by the NSBA, NEA and, now, the FBI?  […]  This is how you do it, people. There are a lot of other legal ways, too. Here are a few ideas, none of which are illegal intimidation, harassment, or threats. I believe they are just part of the public process. Please note, though, that I am not a lawyer and none of what’s in here constitutes legal advice. My understanding about the actions you can take reflects common sense and common knowledge, nothing more. 1. Swamp the school board meetings. You don’t have to be parents to attend. All local citizens who pay property taxes for local education have a stake in the future of their community’s children. If it takes a village to raise a child, it will take a nation of villages to save our children from the educational equivalent of cyanide that will eventually destroy America as we know it. 2.Ask Board members if they support the FBI infiltrating their meetings. They’ll lie, but it will be on record. 3. . . .

Sundance: Joe Rogan Confronts CNN’s Sanjay Gupta About COVID Propaganda Including Ivermectin
Joe Rogan proves a truism that many people have forgotten.  Modern leftists and communist ideologues spend so much time inside their own tribal echo-chamber, they do not know what to do when confronted by intellectual arguments and truth. […] These three video segments below are a case-study in deconstructing and confronting the fallacies of the illogical leftist mind.  Gupta went from having a high opinion of his own intellectual self, to being a puddle of moonbat mush under the microphone.  ENJOY. First segment.  Joe Rogan points out the fallacy of fear behind COVID {Direct Rumble Link}.  Statistics and research show unvaccinated children are not at risk of death from COVID. In fact, they are far less at risk than vaccinated adults. So why all the focus on jabbing a population that is not at risk? Second segment.  Joe Rogan confronts Gupta about his own network CNN lying about Ivermectin and calling it a “horse dewormer”. Third Segment.  Joe Rogan confronts Sanjay Gupta over the Wuhan Lab as the epicenter of the SARS-CoV-2 breakout.  Rogan challenges Gupta to explain why gain of function research was taking place and why the National Institute of Health has lied about it.

AN AMERICA IN DECLINE?

Birzer: Is the American Republic Dead?
In our division and our rage, I must ask, have we lost our sense of Americanness, our pride in our republic, our dignity in the face of the world, our very decorum as a people? Can we—even if we were so inclined—reclaim our nobility? To come to the fine point, what exactly are our Americans Ideals and our American Realities? Can one inform the other? Can one cancel out the other? Can one redeem the other? At the moment, we seem to be the laughingstock of the world, especially after our retreat from Kabul. Imagine what Taipei or Tokyo or Seoul must be thinking right now. It wasn’t always so. Once, we dared to be great. Yes, this is worth repeating. We once dared to be great. Before progressivism, before New Dealism, before Great Societism, before Nixon, Watergate, and Saigon, we dared to be great. After all, we were a republic—the first such republic since Cicero’s head and hands were mounted on the rostrum in front of the Roman Senate. In his first inaugural, George Washington—the American Achilles, the American Aeneas, the American Cincinnatus—spoke beautifully about our destiny: . . . We were meant to be extraordinary.

VDH: Is America Becoming Rome Versus Byzantium?
Our Byzantine interior and Roman coasts are quite differently interpreting their shared American heritage as they increasingly plot radically divergent courses to survive in scary times.  But as in the past, it is far more likely that one state model will prove unsustainable and collapse than it is that either region would ever start a civil war.

Dunn: No, the U.S. is Not on its Knees
Exactly a year ago, in point of fact. At that time the U.S. was on top of the world, respected by our friends and feared by our enemies. ISIS had been destroyed. The U.S. had, in defiance of fifty years of predictions, achieved the status of a fossil fuel exporter. Illegals had been, if not stymied, reduced to a near-trickle, and an actual border wall was being put in place. So what happened since then? As we all know, Joe Biden happened… or (as the Arizona audit results have made clear) was made to happen. Within a matter of days after taking office, Biden, out of sheer spite, undermined all the progress the U.S. made under Donald Trump. The U.S. position, domestically and internationally, has eroded ever since. Afghanistan, energy, and the border are simply symptoms of this. […]  One of the major failings of socialism is that it must be emplaced in a single blow, the way that Lenin and his goons did in 1917. It can’t be put into place gradually. Try that, and the flaws become obvious in short order.

BIDEN/HARRIS/OBAMA REGIME: TRANSFORMING AMERICA

Saavedra: Biden Admin Now Urging Oil And Gas Companies To Bring Down Rising Fuel Costs: Report
A White House official told Reuters that they were “closely monitoring the cost of oil and the cost of gas Americans are paying at the pump” and suggested that “anti-competitive practices” could be responsible for rising costs, although they provided no evidence. […]  Anne Bradbury, CEO at the American Exploration and Production Council, told Reuters, “By pursuing policies that restrict supply and make it harder to produce oil and natural gas here in America, Americans will have to pay more for their energy.”

Breitbart: Heating Bills Set to Soar as Inflation Hits Energy Prices
Get ready to pay sharply higher bills for heating this winter, along with seemingly everything else. With prices surging worldwide for heating oil, natural gas and other fuels, the U.S. government said Wednesday it expects households to see their heating bills jump as much as 54% compared to last winter.
The sharpest increases are likely for homes that use propane, which account for only 5% of U.S. households, but others are also likely to see big increases. Homes that use natural gas, which make up nearly half of all U.S. households, may spend $746 this winter, 30% more than a year ago. That could make this winter’s heating bills the highest for them since the winter of 2008-2009. The second-most typical heating source for homes is electricity, making up 41% of the country, and those households could see a more modest 6% increase to $1,268. Homes using heating oil, which make up 4% of the country, could see a 43% increase — more than $500 — to $1,734.

Malloch: Here are the three things I would recommend to halt the deep state in its tracks. I think Eisenhower would approve.
If we truly want to put an end to the deep state and future misdeeds, it will take real courage and killing it at its roots. Believe me, it won’t be easy to accomplish.  First, restrict all government employees to five-year contracts, renewable only twice. For the military this should be 20 years and out, no exceptions. Then put measures into place that all these bureaucrats, appointees, and congressional staffers are not allowed to lobby or ever work for any government contractor or firm that has such contracts.   Second  . . .

Issues & Insights Editorial Board: Let’s Go Brandon! Looks Like Stagflation Is Already Here
On the same day the International Monetary Fund cut its growth forecast for the U.S. economy, Atlanta Federal Reserve President Raphael Bostic warned that the “transitory” bout of inflation “won’t be brief.” How do you spell stagflation? B-i-d-e-n-o-m-i-c-s. The IMF report, released Tuesday, has the international organization lowering growth globally by a 10th of a percentage point and for the U.S. by a full percentage point. That’s just the latest sign that the economy isn’t building back better under Biden. It might not be building back at all.

CLIMATE EMERGENCY: IT’S POLITICAL

Hayward: THE END OF GREEN DREAMS?
Every day brings fresh news of the how the edifice of “green energy” has hit the wall. It turns out that when nations recognize they need more energy, they are all turning to . . . energy that actually works at scale.
And yet the Al Gores of the world persist: Al Gore’s $36 Billion Fund Sees New Urgency to Cut Off Oil Money in Five Years. That’s roughly how much time the investment universe has left to stop feeding capital to greenhouse-gas emitters before it’s too late, according to the co-founder of Generation Investment Management LLP. David Blood, a long-time top executive at Goldman Sachs Group Inc.’s asset-management unit before starting an investment fund with former U.S. Vice President Al Gore more than 15 years ago, says that efforts over the past two decades to fight climate change are “not going to be enough.”
Five years. Good to know. Except I’m so old that I can remember when Al Gore said the Arctic Ocean would be ice free by 2013. That was back in 2009.* Meanwhile, back in the real world, governments everywhere are facing shortages and soaring costs for electricity and are turning rapidly to . . . fossil fuels!
California and other jurisdictions here and abroad are waiving conventional air pollution regulations so that power companies can use diesel generators to fill the gap. Somehow all those solar panels and windmills just aren’t cutting it. Slowly you can see the entire climate edifice melting away:

Thornton: The West’s Suicidal Energy Policies
Global warmists’ pipe-dreams and bad science. […] History and common sense tell us that for a nation to survive, it must secure and control critical natural resources. In recent decades, Western nations have increasingly ignored this imperative in order to pursue dubious environmental goals dressed up as science, but more often the consequence of cultural ideals, political agendas, or profitable industries supported by government subsidies. The current rise in the costs of energy in the U.S. and Europe is a flashing red light warning us that irresponsible energy policies are threatening the global economy, with dangerous consequences for our freedom, security, and way of life. History provides us with examples of what happens to a state when it loses control of a critical resource. […]  The current energy crisis, with oil prices recently rising to $80 a barrel, is much different from the Athenian grain crisis or Arab oil embargo, both of which were the consequence of war. But it is a serious one, affecting the world’s richest economies. As Ellie Gardey writes in American Spectator Online, “Economists are predicting that Europe and Asia will face a cataclysmic energy crisis when winter weather collides with drastically higher energy prices and shortages of oil, natural gas, and coal. There are warnings about widespread blackouts in Europe, factory shutdowns in China, and economic chaos in poorer countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan.” […] For now the U.S. is in better shape to weather the fuel crisis thanks to the fracking revolution, and Donald Trump’s relaxation of bans on oil development on public lands and waters, and his support for innovations like fracking that have made the U.S. potentially energy self-sufficient and the top oil producer in the world. Trump also left the Paris Climate Accords, . . .[…]  The Biden administration, of course, has reversed most of these policies and renewed the progressives’ war on coal. Now the goal is for . . .

“The city has regressed the past eight years under the mayor,” Gabriel, a lifelong New Yorker who works near Times Square, told Fox News in an interview. “Crime in the subways, old women getting robbed … homicide going up, people getting shot, shootings are up, killings are up, and he’s aloof – he’s walking in Prospect Park, enjoying his daily stroll or going to YMCA,” he continued, referring to Mayor Bill de Blasio. Another lifelong New Yorker, Chris, told Fox News, agreeing with Gabriel: “Liberals. Liberals are killing this city, absolutely killing it.” “It’s a disgrace,” Chris added. “The wild, wild West.”
