Dwyer: Justice Clarence Thomas hospitalized with infection, Supreme Court says
Justice Clarence Thomas has been hospitalized with an infection, the Supreme Court announced in a statement. Thomas was admitted to Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., on Friday evening after experiencing flu-like symptoms, Supreme Court spokesperson Patricia McCabe said in a statement.
He was diagnosed with an infection after undergoing tests and is being treated with intravenous antibiotics, McCabe said. She did not provide more details on the nature of the infection. “His symptoms are abating, he is resting comfortably, and he expects to be released from the hospital in a day or two,” McCabe said.

While clerking for a federal judge, Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson denounced a Boston Herald columnist as “irredeemably evil” for criticizing unrestricted immigration. Jackson wrote a letter to the editor of the Herald in response to a piece from columnist Don Feder that noted that the population of white people in America could decrease steeply as a result of open borders immigration policy. The text of both 1997 writings were obtained by the Free Beacon through a news archive. “To my mind, he’s also like the liberal’s purported view of American history—irredeemably evil,” Jackson wrote of Feder, whose column also attacked black civic leaders such as Louis Farrakhan. The judge disclosed the letter in a questionnaire for the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Brady Knowlton entered the U.S. Capitol building at 2:35 p.m. on January 6, 2021. Like hundreds of other people that day, he walked the halls of Congress — first the Rotunda, then the lobby, then the Senate chamber gallery. A 40-year-old law student, Knowlton and a friend gained access to the Capitol through the Upper West Terrace doors. To do so, they and others passed several police officers walking in their opposite direction, according to footage and discovery materials reviewed by The Daily Wire. Knowlton told The Daily Wire that an officer said, “You can go in, as long as you don’t break anything.” He says he watched police shake hands with protestors. He broke nothing, and left after 18 minutes. He now faces about 20 years in prison. His law degree has been withheld, his lawyers say, Airbnb has banned him and his wife, and, for reasons that remain undisclosed, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection has stripped his Global Entry access. We have a potential Supreme Court justice who thinks kiddie porn pervs should get a slap on the wrist and an election system that is a slap in the face to democracy. Burger is $7 a pound and Jussie Smollett is free – and don’t be surprised if his double jeopardy argument works on appeal! Yeah, there are a lot of bad things going on here in the US of A thanks to that desiccated old pervert in the White House, but we’re not hearing enough about them from Republican poobahs.

The pediatric literature is even more damning. Numerous studies have shown that young children are simply not affected by COVID in a significant way. They don’t get particularly sick. They don’t pass it from one to another easily. And more importantly, they rarely pass it to adults. But Pfizer played games to avoid showing the harms from the vaccine, so Dr. Wilkoff can be forgiven for not seeing the new literature on that. He’s actually busy treating patients. So he wouldn’t know that the British government reports that “N antibody levels appear to be lower in people who acquire infection following two doses of vaccination.” In other words, your immunity drops after vaccination. But I thought that vaccines were supposed to make you immune…. So far, we’ve only looked at the risks from COVID. But as a pediatrician, he should be aware of myocarditis…unless he simply accepts the CDC blather that “Most patients with myocarditis or pericarditis who received care responded well to medicine and rest….” After all, he’s a practicing pediatrician and doesn’t have the time to dig into the data. But he does have time to write several books and prepare his op-ed…. When the facts are on the table, we find that the CDC is lying.

Ozmiek: Russia Uses Hypersonic Ballistic Missiles In Ukraine For First Time

It’s no secret that the United States of America became a superpower as a result of World War 2. Even before the war officially concluded, the United States secured its long-term economic viability with the Bretton Woods Agreement.  The upshot of that 1944 meeting of delegates from 44 countries in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire was the establishment of both the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. But more importantly, the agreement replaced the gold standard with the U.S. dollar as the global currency. In short, America became the dominant power in the world economy. It was a shrewd shift that gave the dollar more value relative to other currencies. But it was also secure and practical: the United States held three quarters of the world’s supply of gold, which made the U.S. the only country with enough gold to back its currency — the dollar — as a replacement for the gold standard.
But this post-war agreement was abandoned in 1971 when President Nixon announced he would unshackle the U.S. from its promise that a dollar was worth 1/35th of an ounce of gold. Since then, the dollar’s value has gone from objective to subjective; from $35 an ounce of gold to whatever people think it’s worth. The long-lasting impacts of ending the gold standard have arguably been devastating. The abandonment of the gold standard has certainly led to great instability and uncertainty with regard to both the diagnosis and treatment of economic catastrophes like inflation.

It is hardly vindication of The Post’s flawless reporting on the Hunter Biden laptop that 17 months late, the New York Times has admitted the laptop is real. It is an indictment of the Times and a betrayal of their readers who were kept in the dark about the true nature of Joe Biden before the 2020 election. But now that we are all on the same page, there are some serious questions the administration needs to answer, which go to America’s national security at a time of international peril. Question 1  President Biden’s press secretary, Jen Psaki, refused to answer The Post’s White House reporter, Steven Nelson, when he had the rare opportunity to ask her two of those questions last week. Psaki’s excuse was that Hunter Biden “doesn’t work in the government.” But she wasn’t being asked about Hunter. She was being asked about her boss, the president.

Paracelsus: You can thank the Civil War for Pfizer
In 1861 the United States descended into civil war. History is written by the victors, and thus many key facts have been memory-holed in favor of a slavery-centered narrative. Sadly lost in today’s ‘civil war history’ is the story of our nation’s first opioid epidemic, Pfizer’s rise as a prominent pharmaceutical company, and the federal government’s hand in both those events. This story starts before the war, when two German immigrants (Charles Pfizer and Charles Erhart) started a chemical company in Brooklyn in 1849. The company had moderate success with its first product, an anti-parasitic drug that was compounded into a candy-like toffee. However, Pfizer was just one of dozens of other companies in the US manufacturing chemicals and pharmaceuticals at the time. Pfizer would use the Civil War to bring itself to prominence and profit, much as ‘defense’ companies do today. Wars have always produced injuries and disease, however a key invention just prior to the Civil War led to exceptionally gruesome wounds. The Minié ball, named after the French army officer who invented it, was a new bullet that expanded when fired while still maintaining relative accuracy. Previous bullets were more likely to travel through bodies, but the Minié ball would lodge inside tissue, creating sucking chest wounds and other fatal injuries. Not only were battlefield injuries horrific, but there were also deadly diseases like measles, dysentery, and malaria, the latter being endemic in the South where the war was mostly fought. Thus, there was a great need for pain killers, antiseptics, anesthetics, and anti-diarrheal medications by both the Union and Confederate armies.

Destroying everything, bombarding and killing everybody in an indiscriminate manner. This is something awful’. Russian news agencies have reported that buses carrying hundreds of refugees from the besieged southeastern port city Mariupol had arrived in Russia in recent days. Moscow officials also said a trainload of over 280 Ukrainians were being ‘rescued’ from Mariupol, showing footage of them thanking Russian forces.
