On July 1, the program will expand to cover eligible illegal immigrants between the ages of 42 to 54 as well. The initial program was approved by state lawmakers in 2021 and has now gone into effect. Illegal immigrants who qualify will not have to pay for doctor and hospital visits, lab tests, physical and occupational therapy, mental health, substance abuse disorder services, dental and vision services, or prescription drugs.

In California, parents are abandoning the k-12 system, college enrollment is down, and now the state is trying to lure 4-year-olds to transitional kindergarten. According to just released data from the California Department of Education, the state has lost 110,000 students this school year, and has fewer than 6 million students for the first time this century. Additionally, on the college level, California’s fall 2021 undergraduate enrollment dropped by nearly a quarter-million students since pre-pandemic fall 2019, according to a survey released in January. The report from the National Student Clearinghouse shows that California saw an overall decline of more than 99,000 (4.3%) in undergraduate enrollment from fall 2020 to fall 2021, driven mostly by a 9.9% drop in the community colleges. So now the government is doing what it can to expand the system by adding bodies – specifically 4-year-old bodies – by implementing universal free transitional kindergarten. […] Not surprisingly, teacher union honchos are salivating over the vision of thousands of new dues-paying teachers. […] But then, there is reality. In fact, studies invariably show that pre-K school doesn’t help, and can even damage young kids. The results of a study done in Tennessee were released in January 2022, revealing . . .

If we are going to avoid the type of debate that we saw after the November 3, 2020 election and restore confidence, then transparency is important. Take one of the least obvious places where people have concerns about the election — Montana. Donald Trump won the state in 2020 by 16.4 percent. But there is an election transparency problem in Missoula County, Montana’s second-most populous county. If errors can occur in even relatively uncontested parts of the country, we should be broadly concerned. What went wrong? Well, it all got worse after Covid-19 made mail-in voting mainstream. Last January 4, a recount of the 2020 election in Missoula made national news when it found 4,592 fewer envelopes than the County Election Office’s tally of 72,491 votes. That is a 6.33 percent difference in votes counted. The county’s election was entirely mail-in, and envelopes were crucial for checking dates and signatures. […] If Americans don’t trust the election results, they will be discouraged from voting in the future. Montana is hardly on anyone’s radar for vote fraud. But the concern is that if these problems can happen in Montana, they can happen anywhere.

A deleted newsletter reveals that a Dean from the U.S. National Defense University led a delegation to a Chinese Communist Party think-tank labeled as a “front group for Chinese intelligence collection and overseas spy recruitment” by the FBI, The National Pulse can reveal. The higher education establishment in Washington, D.C. has operated since 1976. Details of the 2005 visit were posted to the website of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS), which has been flagged by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for its close ties to the Chinese Communist Party’s top spy agency: the Ministry of State Security. The FBI has described the Chinese Communist Party as dependent upon SASS employees to serve “spotters and assessors” of potential Western spies. Ministry of State Security officers – described by the FBI as keen on “influencing the foreign policy of other countries” – have also “used SASS affiliation as cover identities.” […] The unearthed ties between the leading U.S. military educator follow The National Pulse reporting how high-ranking personnel in the Biden White House – including the individual overseeing the National Security Agency’s hiring process – have been affiliated with SASS. Kim: North Korea tests new weapon bolstering nuclear capability

North Korea has test-fired a new type of tactical guided weapon designed to boost its nuclear fighting capability, state media reported Sunday, a day before its chief rivals the United States and South Korea begin annual drills that the North views as an invasion rehearsal. The 13th weapons test this year came amid concerns that North Korea may soon conduct an even larger provocation. Elected governments were rare in the past. They did not appear until over four millennia after civilization first emerged in the Near East. Constitutional systems were fragile at birth. And they are on the wane today. Nation after nation seems to be devolving into autocracy. Multiethnic, multiracial consensual governments have been even more brittle and sporadic in history. The Roman, Ottoman, and Soviet empires were multiracial. But they were not consensual. Instead, they required a degree of force to ensure calm among rival tribes and warring peoples—violence that we would find incompatible with our notions of modern democracy. Today, India and Brazil are large multicultural and multiethnic democracies. But neither, so far, has guaranteed their citizens either prosperity or security. So present-day multiracial America is a great experiment in the unknown. Can its various tribes, and races unite around the Constitution? Or will they inevitably revert to form and give their first loyalties to those of shared superficial racial or ethnic affinities?

The posting explained, “Criticizing the church, Justis Mitchell, a first-year M.Div student, stated, ‘In the pews we listen to the pastor who preaches about commandments, condemning those who disobey, predicating a future of fire and turmoil.’ However, Mitchell believes that ‘We can become holy, we can become worthy, we can become valued…even as we remain queer, even as we discover our own queer God whose presence is within these walls.'”

A future OB/GYN and current University of Chicago medical student believes that abortion is both a “gift” and “life-saving.” “I felt a connection between my having an abortion and my ability to pursue my own education, to have economic freedom, to live my life the way that I wanted to,” Shira Fishbach (pictured) told MedPage Today for an article about physicians and medical students killing their own babies. “It felt like they were literally handing me that gift,” she said of her 2017 abortion. Fishbach will soon head to the University of Michigan to complete her residency. “Dreams come true— I’m going to be an abortion provider!” she tweeted. Her comments to MedPage elicited praise from Vineet Arora, the dean of medical education at the University of Chicago.

A public university in Ohio will pay $400,000 to a philosophy professor who refused to use a student’s preferred pronouns. The settlement arrives four years after the school punished the professor for not using a student’s preferred pronouns. The legal team for the professor argued the university violated the professor’s First Amendment rights. During a political philosophy class in January 2018, Shawnee State University professor Nick Meriwether responded to a biological male student’s question by saying, “Yes, sir.” When the class ended, the student confronted Meriwether. The student declared to be transgender, and to be referred to as a woman, with feminine titles and pronouns. “When Meriwether did not instantly agree, the student became belligerent and promised to get Meriwether fired,” according to the Alliance Defending Freedom.

Not all senior military officials approved the plot, but Winston Churchill, who wanted the German military not to be able to anticipate the 1943 Allied landing in Sicily, did. […] The concept starts with the Trout Memo, officially written in 1939 by Admiral John Godfrey, director of Naval Intelligence, but almost certainly written by his subordinate Lieutenant Commander Ian Fleming, not yet dreaming of 007, about the deception of an army in wartime by fly fishing.
