Olohan: Leftist Groups Direct Protestors To Descend Upon Supreme Court Justices’ Homes
Activist groups are directing angry abortion protestors to the homes of “six extremist” Supreme Court justices amid swelling abortion protests in major cities around the country. Reacting to a leaked draft opinion showing that the court is likely preparing to overturn Roe v. Wade, abortion supporters protested outside the United States Supreme Court on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Protests also took place in Los Angeles (where protestors violently clashed with police) and in New York City. Now it appears that Supreme Court justices in Maryland and Virginia will be targeted by similar protests. The progressive activist group Ruth Sent Us announced “walk-by Wednesday,” urging protestors to come to “the homes of the six extremist justices, three in Virginia and three in Maryland.”

The judge in the case of Democratic cybersecurity lawyer Michael Sussmann has agreed to review dozens of records currently withheld because of assertions of attorney-client privilege by Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign to see if they have been improperly concealed. The agreement is a win for special counsel John Durham in his case against Sussmann, who has been indicted on charges of concealing his clients, the Clinton campaign and tech executive Rodney Joffe, from FBI general counsel James Baker when he pushed eventually debunked claims of a secret backchannel between the Trump Organization and Russia’s Alfa Bank.

Rugaber: Fed raises key rate by a half-point in bid to tame inflation
The Federal Reserve intensified its fight against the worst inflation in 40 years by raising its benchmark interest rate by a half-percentage point Wednesday — its most aggressive move since 2000 — and signaling further large rate hikes to come. The increase in the Fed’s key short-term rate raised it to a range of 0.75% to 1%, the highest point since the pandemic struck two years ago. The Fed also announced that it will start reducing its huge $9 trillion balance sheet, made up mainly of Treasury and mortgage bonds. Reducing those holdings will have the effect of further raising borrowing costs throughout the economy.

Tolerance, both as a prudential concession to human nature and as a liberal value, has fallen out of fashion. In part, this is because tolerance is judgmental. To “tolerate” something—a poorly cooked meal, an annoying houseguest, the garish paint job on your neighbor’s house—acknowledges the existence of a standard from which the tolerated thing deviates. You “tolerate” your neighbor’s stupid yard sign not because “Science Is Real” qualifies as penetrating insight, but because you want to be polite. The Left is laying the foundation for an insurmountable advantage in the battle of ideas on basic American values.The Biden Administration and Democrats in Congress are infusing critical race theory (CRT), so-called anti-racist (in reality, profoundly racist) teachings, and other progressive ideologies into K-12 curricula. With forceful support from progressive states, there is a coordinated assault at all levels of our educational system to indoctrinate children and professionals in far-left anti-America rhetoric. If this effort succeeds—it is making spectacular progress—our country’s values and future are in jeopardy.

The guidelines call for “the development of culturally responsive teaching and learning” that benefits “underserved populations” as part of “the ongoing national reckoning with systemic racism [that has] highlighted the urgency of improving racial equity throughout our society, including in our education system.” The DOE quotes Biden’s executive order requiring “an ambitious whole-of-government equity agenda,” and urges incorporation of the widely discredited, anti-white and anti-America 1619 Project and “anti-racist” practices. […] There are now at least four bills before Congress proposing to expand federal funding for “civics.” The Civics Secures Democracy Act (”Civics Act”) was introduced by three Democrats and two Republicans “to restore the importance placed on civics education in American classrooms with targeted federal investments to support and expand access to civics and history education” that meet the needs of the “traditionally underserved,” especially students in “rural and inner-city urban areas” and “underrepresented minorities.” The Civics Act appropriates nearly $600 billion over six years for DOE grants to schools and non-profit organizations for subjects, including “civics,” and “political thought,” and to “engage in American democratic practices as citizens and residents of the United States.” The bill defines “civics” to include the “acquisition of civic dispositions, values such as . . .tolerance and inclusion, and understanding perspectives that differ from one’s own as well as a disposition to be civically engaged.” Civics Learning Act of 2021, sponsored by 51 House Democrats, . . . The Inspire to Serve Act, sponsored by eight Democrats and two Republicans, establishes . . . . The Promoting Programming, Research, Education and Preservation in Civics and Government Act, sponsored by 17 Democrats and five Republicans authorizes . . . […] There should be no misunderstanding that in these bills, “civics” means progressive ideology, or that “participation” and “engagement” means protests. It is pathetic that any Republican would sponsor these bills, and that 12 Republicans did not sign Leader McConnell’s letter.

Jackson’s comments about the potential good and the potential evil of prosecutors ring true today. To honor Jackson’s view of prosecutors, I have compiled a list of the five best and five worst in the United States today. The factors under consideration: public safety, fidelity to the rule of law, personal integrity, leadership, responsible innovations and training, community relations, office morale, and teamwork with other players in the criminal-justice system. In the interests of starting with good news, let’s begin with the five best prosecutors. (I will describe the five worst in a separate article.) Fortunately, the United States has more than just five great prosecutors, but these five stand out, in my judgment. […] With violent crime spiking across the United States, we can take heart that plenty of outstanding prosecutors remain on the job. Without question, though, an increasing number of progressive prosecutors are refusing to prosecute criminals, even as lawlessness increases in their jurisdictions. Michelle Chang, Google’s global policy lead for search stated in a recent announcement of the change: “The availability of personal contact information online can be jarring.” She added that the data could result in “unwanted direct contact or even physical harm.” Google previously only offered to remove personal and financial information in a situation where there was a legitimate threat, but now Google is allowing anyone to remove their personal information.
