NOTABLE QUOTES

Jordon Peterson is a clinical psychologist and contributor to The Telegraph: I’m increasingly ashamed to be a clinical psychologist given the utter cowardice, spinelessness and apathy that characterises many colleagues and even more so my professional associations. At least in 20 years when we all come to regret this terrible social experiment I will be able to say “I said no when they all came to insist that we participate in the sacrifice of our children.” Other countries, and Britain in particular, must not make the same mistakes as in the US and elsewhere. I cannot consent to what we are doing. I cannot abide by what have become the doctrines of my discipline. I believe that the acts of the medical ‘professional’ rushing to disfigure, sterilise, and harm young people with what are clearly ill-advised, dangerous, experimental procedures cross the line from ‘do no harm’ to outright harm.

Thomas J. Patterson contributor to The Prickly Pear:  As Ronald Reagan might say, the government is not the solution to this problem. It is the problem. There’s no question that the Great Society welfare rules, requiring recipients to be unmarried and unemployed to qualify for benefits, led to countless women making the sensible decision to “marry the government“ rather than the uneducated, undependable father.

Bret Weinstein is a liberal who made his case for gun ownership: This is what gun ownership comes down to, whether you’re a liberal or a conservative. If there is a way to protect liberty from spasms of tyranny that does not condemn us to the spectacular cost of regular gun violence, I’d love to know it. But if the dynamism of the West, the productivity, the ingenuity, and the quest for fairness can only be protected from tyrants at the point of a gun, then so be it.

Tim Meads journalist for The Daily Wire: The Army has hit 40% of its recruiting goals this year, with the struggle to fill the ranks seemingly so grim the Defense Department reduced its planned total force size because prior recruiting goals were out of reach.

Peter T. Calcagno And Edward J. Lopez: Perhaps the central point for today’s inflation problem is that we cannot remove the political dimension, but we can better insulate our fiscal and monetary house from the foul sides of politics. One part of the course forward should be to replace trust in politics and elites with acceptance, followed by restraint. This requires recognition that politicians and ruling elites are neither angels nor wizards, and that voter demand for largesse deserves moral judgment alongside corporate greed.

JANUARY 6 COMMITTEE

Cleveland: Exclusive: Former White House Staffer Confirms Jan. 6 Committee Lied About DOJ Attorney

‘This isn’t about truth, but about making it impossible for conservatives to successfully enter and leave government.’ Over the weekend, former Department of Justice lawyer Ken Klukowski called on the Jan. 6 Committee to release the full transcript of his deposition testimony to correct the lies they told about him to the American public. Now The Federalist has exclusively obtained a statement from a former White House staffer confirming Klukowski’s claims. Last Thursday, the Jan. 6, 2021 show trial continued, with the Democrat-stacked committee presenting testimony concerning a draft letter Jeff Clark, a former assistant attorney general in the Department of Justice, proposed sending to the Georgia legislature. […]  The former DOJ lawyer then detailed in his public statement four false accusations levied against him by the Jan.6 Committee. First, Klukowski exposed Rep. Liz Cheney’s false portrayal of him as being sent by John Eastman to work under Clark. While Cheney fraudulently told the country that Klukowski “was specifically assigned to work under Jeff Clark,” Klukowski provided the committee documents establishing that his transfer to “the Civil Division of the DOJ was in the works since July 2020, long before Jeff Clark was the acting head of that Division.” […]  Republican leaders in the House should demand that the Jan. 6 Committee immediately release the full deposition transcripts for all witnesses—because if they fabricated Klukowski’s role in the alleged conspiracy, they likely lied about what other witnesses said as well.

Morabito: Why The J6 Committee’s Attacks On Ginni Thomas’s Free Speech Are A Totalitarian Attack On Every American

Since they haven’t been able to destroy Justice Thomas after years of trying, they hope to get to him through his wife. It’s a sickening tactic. The left has expressed a special hatred for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas for decades. Thomas stands for everything our elites hate: free speech, due process, fair elections, and every individual right in the Constitution’s Bill of Rights. Paradoxically, the left seems to find this especially galling because he is the descendant of slaves. But for all these decades, they haven’t been able to get him. Cue House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s show trial masquerading as an investigation of a three-hour protest at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. It was a protest that got out of hand when the Capitol Police took the most peculiar step of opening the Capitol doors wide to the protesters. And who is the congressional committee’s scapegoat of choice for the J6 star chamber? Thomas’s wife, Ginni. Interestingly, PolitiFact concluded that there is no evidence Mrs. Thomas had anything to do with organizing the Jan. 6 protests. So the committee and its media cohorts have been on a propagandistic fishing expedition.

THE U.S. SUPREME COURT

Potas: Supreme Court rules school district cannot prohibit football coach’s on field prayer

The Court hands down the 6-3 decision as we near the end of their term. The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that a Washington school district violated the First Amendment rights of a high school football coach when he lost his job for praying on the field after games. Joseph Kennedy, a football coach at Bremerton High school, had engaged in private prayer at the 50 yard line after games. After a parent complained to the district that their son felt pressured to join the prayer despite being an atheist, the district asked Kennedy to stop. After telling the district he refused to comply, and being joined by a number of students and parents in the post game prayer, the district declined to rehire Kennedy upon a performance review. […]  “A government entity sought to punish an individual for engaging in a personal religious observance, based on a mistaken view that it has a duty to suppress religious observances even as it allows comparable secular speech,” Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote in the majority opinion. […]  In the dissenting opinion, Justice Sonia Sotomayor argued . . .

Lyman: ‘They’re Going To Lose Their Liberties’: Clarence Thomas Makes Dire Warning In New Book

Thomas was interviewed by co-editor Michael Pack for more than 30 hours between Nov. 2017 and March 2018 for the book “Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words.” Thomas reportedly said Americans are not interested in the Constitution. “I think we as citizens have lost interest and that’s been my disappointment. That certainly was something that bothered Justice Scalia, that people tend to be more interested in their iPhones than their Constitution,” Thomas said, according to Business Insider. “They’re interested in what they want rather than what is right as a country.”

JUDICIARY

Mann: New York Supreme Court strikes down NYC law allowing noncitizen residents to vote in city elections

Noncitizens who reside legally in New York City will no longer be permitted to vote in city elections, according to the state Supreme Court, which struck down a law that went into effect earlier this year. The law would have granted New York’s more than 800,000 legal noncitizens the right to vote in city elections beginning next year. On Monday, however, the court ruled that there is “no statuary ability for the City of New York to issue inconsistent laws permitting noncitizens to vote and exceed the authority granted to it.” “The Municipal Voting Law is ‘impermissible simply and solely for the reason that the Constitution says that it cannot be done.’ Though voting is a right that so many citizens take for granted, the City of New York cannot ‘obviate’ the restrictions imposed by the Constitution” wrote the court.

GOP

Duke: Tucker Carlson’s Misguided Attack on Republicans

For the record, I believe Fox News host Tucker Carlson is by far the best high-profile TV commentator of our time. I frequently cite him in my news-oriented articles, and his monologues are tours de force. Thus is it notable that I’ve never seen him stumble so badly as on his last Wednesday evening show. […]  The pundit’s point was that while Democrats are alienating even their traditional “minority” base with woke baseness, the GOP is not only failing to capitalize but is aiding the Biden administration in effectuating political correctness. He provided a number of examples, and let’s jump right in with one to illustrate where he went wrong. Carlson cited Arkansas Republican governor Asa Hutchinson’s shameful veto of a 2021 bill that would ban the child abuse euphemistically known as “gender reassignment” treatments (e.g., puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones). With the veto, Hutchinson signaled that he adheres to a self-destructive fantasy about and fear of “government overreach” (his claim), is profoundly ignorant on the subject or is actually in bed with the sexual devolutionaries. Regardless, he should be primaried. Carlson, however, didn’t tell the rest of the story. To wit: That bill is now law because the Republican-controlled legislature overrode Hutchinson’s veto by wide margins the very day after it was announced.

THE DEMOCRAT LED WAR ON CHILDREN

(H/T DM) Peterson: We are sacrificing our children on the altar of a brutal, far-Left ideology

The medical profession is crumbling in response to radical transgender activists. here is good evidence that many ancient societies sacrificed children to their gods. Parents in ancient Phoenician colonies in Carthage, Sicily, Sardinia and Malta slew their offspring prior to cremating them, hoping that the gods would hear their voices and bless them. We are rightly appalled by this, though sometimes I wonder whether we understand child sacrifice far more than we’d like to admit. I saw a video the other day featuring an American surgeon bragging that he had performed more than 3,000 double mastectomies on young women who had paid for gender reassignment, individuals confused – one might say encouraged – by those who profit from it into believing that their adolescent emotional trials can be ‘cured’, and happiness reign forever, if they subject themselves to this brutal practice. And it is brutal – a process that often includes not only the aforementioned mastectomies but other appalling surgical processes: orchiectomy (that’s castration, in blunter language), the removal of the uterus, the demolition of the musculature of the forearm to make what is not a penis but must be referred to as such – all of that.

For someone purporting to be a physician to perform this on children, to me at least, seems like something worthy of a prison sentence.

Stieber: CDC Confirmed Post-Vaccination Death From Blood Clotting Two Weeks Before Alerting Public: Emails

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed in late 2021 that a person died from blood clotting after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine that had been linked with an increased risk of blood clotting, but did not alert the public for two weeks, newly obtained emails show. Dr. Tom Shimabukuro, a CDC official, told colleagues at the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Dec. 2, 2021, “We have confirmed a 9th TTS death following Janssen vaccination,” according to emails obtained by The Epoch Times through a Freedom of Information Act request. TTS refers to thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome, a condition that features low platelet levels combined with blood clots.

Raman: More Flaws in the Vaccine Model Claiming 20 Million Lives Saved

study titled “Global impact of the first year of COVID-19 vaccination: a mathematical modelling study” has appeared in the Lancet Infectious Diseases journal, on 23 June 2022. It has concluded that nearly 14-20 million lives have been saved by the rollout of the Covid-19 jabs. This study immediately gained widespread news coverage worldwide: e.g. The Hindu (India), Mint (India), The Guardian (UK), CBS Detroit (USA), etc. It is thus worth looking at the technical validity of the study. Flawed assumptions in the jab impact modeling study: The modeling study necessarily incorporates various important parameters. A close look reveals that much of the critical parameters are based on assumptions which are known in the literature to be wrong. The table below summarizes this.

BIDEN/HARRIS/OBAMA REGIME: TRANSFORMING THE U.S. MILITARY

Meads: U.S. Army Drops High School Diploma Requirement As It Struggles To Find New Recruits

On Thursday, the Army announced the changes. Recruits must be 18 years old and eligible for a job in other areas of active duty and they also must score at least a 50 on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) to test their academic ability, according to Military.com. The military outlet also noted, “The Army and its sister services have scrambled this year, offering increasingly generous benefits and policy tweaks in an effort to improve recruiting numbers. The Army has hit 40% of its recruiting goals this year, with the struggle to fill the ranks seemingly so grim the Defense Department reduced its planned total force size because prior recruiting goals were out of reach.” Last week, the Army also relaxed its regulations regarding . . .

BIDEN/HARRIS/OBAMA REGIME: TRANSFORMING AMERICA

Solender: Pelosi signals votes to codify key SCOTUS rulings, protect abortion

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Monday said she’s preparing votes on a number of bills protecting abortion as well as codifying landmark Supreme Court decisions as a response to the court overturning Roe v. Wade. Driving the news: In a “Dear Colleague” letter to her caucus, Pelosi hinted at bills to respond to Justice Clarence Thomas’ concurring opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson calling for the court to revisit landmark rulings protecting same-sex relationships, marriage equality and access to contraceptives. Why it matters: Democrats are preparing their legislative fight against the 6-3 conservative court and the Republican-controlled states that moved to ban abortion in response to the ruling.

Pavlich: Biden’s HHS Secretary Is Illegally Using Taxpayer Money to Fund Abortion Tourism

Speaking during an event with NBC News over the weekend, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra admitted the agency is using taxpayer money to help women obtain abortions in states where the procedure is still legal. When asked by the moderator if his actions were against the law, he laughed and avoided answering the question because the event was “being recorded.”

Isaac: Biden’s Abuse of Defense Production Act Will Drive Gas Prices Even Higher

Biden’s exploitation of the Defense Production Act to prop up the renewable energy industry may be his most out-of-touch move yet. With two-thirds of the nation living paycheck-to-paycheck — not to mention serious crises like the baby formula shortage still ongoing — Biden is giving special treatment to energy sources that have never yet proven to be worth the taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars. Decades of subsidies measuring in the hundreds of billions haven’t made renewable energy more reliable or affordable, despite its advocates’ bold claims. The Defense Production Act won’t either; it will just drive energy prices even higher. The Trump administration’s pro-energy policies created real savings for families — and continued our track record of global environmental leadership — but President Biden’s war on fossil fuels has already erased that progress. The average family is now paying nearly $3,000 more on gasoline per year than under the previous administration, on top of sky-high inflation causing higher prices for other essential goods.

Calcagno & Lopez: Want to Understand the Inflation Problem? Look to Harvey Road, Not Pennsylvania Avenue

As news headlines have reported, the US economy today suffers its worst inflation in two generations. Not coincidentally, US public debt is also at its all-time high. As if on cue, opposition pundits are blaming the Biden administration, whose apologists, in turn, blame Russia and corporate greed while touting the success of Washington’s $5 trillion in recent crisis spending. This partisan and ideological bickering misses the central point. Some economists know better than to treat today’s economic woes as a partisan problem with roots in the 2020 election. Alan Blinder of Princeton University, for example, has for several years complained that politics gets in the way of smart ideas. Professor Blinder’s “lamppost problem” suggests that we would not be here had past policies not fallen victim to the politicization of ideal economics. Moving forward, mainstream economists join Professor Blinder in saying that we now must aggressively neutralize politics, unchain the ideas of intellectual elites, and finally—hallelujah!—let smart policies rule. Never mind that these same economists have admitted fault for getting it wrong, thus vindicating the steady analyses of AIER’s Sound Money Project directed by Will Luther. Let’s be honest. Even gifted Ivy League economists must have trouble keeping a straight face while recommending that we take politics out of the equation. This is America, after all. Aren’t we the world’s shining exemplar of political inclusion? Sure we are. Yet puzzlingly, there is a long line of thinkers who say that we should replace politics with the judgment of elites. In today’s monetary and fiscal policy, this thought goes back to at least the days of John Maynard Keynes.

THE DEMOCRAT PARTY’S MARXIST PLAYBOOK: FASCIST ARMIES

Greenfield: Where Are the Abortion Insurrection Hearings?

Friday evening’s Arizona State Senate session had to be cut short as the legislative body came under siege from Abortion Insurrection rioters. “We have a security threat outside,” Senate President Karen Fann announced. Legislators were evacuated into the basement and then had to be evacuated once again from the basement after tear gas fumes being used to stop the insurrectionists entered the building. […]  “Violent pro-abortion protester attempts of an insurrection at the Arizona State Senate were thwarted Friday night, thanks to the swift action from local and state law enforcement,” the Arizona Republican State Senate Caucus stated in its press release. […]  The Phoenix protest was allegedly linked to a branch of Radical Women, “the oldest socialist feminist group in existence,” which has ties to Trotskyists, and the Party for Socialism and Liberation, a domestic Communist party. The media promoted the rallies while failing to disclose the radical nature of the groups involved in it resulting in people bringing children to a riot. Woke corporations, including Patagonia and Live Nation, promised to cover bail so that Woke Capitalists and Communists were working together to enable an insurrection. […]  The Abortion Insurrection has all the hallmarks of a carefully organized and directed campaign. “We are currently there being held hostage inside the Senate building due to members of the public trying to breach our security,” Arizona State Senator Kelly Townsend had tweeted. “We smell tear gas and the children of one of the members are in the office sobbing with fear. I expect a J24 committee to be created immediately.”

THE BIG GUY’S SON

Heine: Joe Biden Tells Hunter in 2018 Voicemail ‘I think You’re Clear’ After NY Times Report on Chinese Business Partner

Joe Biden called his son Hunter in 2018 to discuss a New York Times article about Hunter’s dealings with CEFC, Chinese Communist Party-linked energy firm, a newly released voicemail from Hunter Biden’s iPhone, shows. The elder Biden appeared to be pleased with the Grey Lady’s whitewash of what should have been a massive scandal. “I thought the article released online—it’s going to be printed tomorrow in the Times—was good,” he said in a voicemail obtained by the Daily Mail. Biden told his scandal-plagued son: “I think you’re clear.” Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, Joe Biden has repeatedly denied ever being involved in discussions regarding Hunter’s shady foreign business dealings.

Vespa: LA Times Op-Ed: I Don’t Know About All These Blacks Owning Guns

Well, this was an inevitable piece from the Left’s meltdown over the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Second Amendment.  […]  It was the worst week ever for liberals as they had to deal with this ruling and the overturning of Roe w. Wade the next day in the Dobbs case. So, how does the Left deal with an expansion of civil rights? They worry about gun ownership spiking among nonwhites. Yeah, they’re going all ‘rifle clubs a la Reconstruction’ on gun rights when it comes to black Americans, and we’re supposedly the side taking America backward. That’s what hit the op-ed pages of the LA Times:

Smith: Where Have All the Statesmen Gone?

Daniel J. Mahoney’s The Statesman as Thinker offers an education in how six of history’s most profound political leaders understood the tasks of political life and the lessons that we can learn from encountering these figures today. Mahoney idealizes statecraft as a union of “commanding political reason” with profound moral and intellectual depth. […]    The Statesman as Thinker points us toward the need for both a classical political-philosophic and a theologically informed understanding of how to evaluate political action. Mahoney seeks the best in political life through this dual focus, and rightfully narrows his field of analysis to a handful of the strongest examples of leaders who exercised both prudence and principle in pursuit of such an end. In a half-dozen brief, deeply insightful portraits, Mahoney presents the life and thought of Burke, Tocqueville, Lincoln, Churchill, De Gaulle, and Havel. Although he presents these portraits chronologically, what is particularly effective about his approach is the way Mahoney brings these men into dialogue with one another and with a handful of other important writers that can guide our understanding of high politics—Aristotle, Cicero, Raymond Aron, Hannah Arendt, and Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn all offer important contributions to the development of the argument. Taken together, these portraits constitute an education in what we ought to hope can be restored in the highest aims of Western political life.

Rossi: (De)Grading for Equity: New grading scheme arriving soon to NAIS private schools

The National Association of Independent Schools is hosting an upcoming “Equity Design Lab” in July 2022 for teachers and administrators, led by Joe Feldman, the author of the influential 2018 book Grading for Equity: What It Is, Why It Matters, and How It Can Transform Schools and Classrooms.

Feldman’s book was a primary resource used at a Chicago-area high school to produce controversial grading changes for all their students. Oak Park and River Forest High School administrators plan to “integrate equitable assessment and grading practices into all academic and elective courses” by Fall of 2023.

According to Feldman, group differences in the grade outcomes students earn are inherently discriminatory, and often reflect unexamined teacher biases. To address these injustices requires actively dismantling traditional grading practices, substituting new assessment methods that favor some groups over others.
