Here’s a story that tells you a lot. Last Friday, a 35-year-old convicted felon called Austin Simon walked into a neighborhood convenience store in Harlem in New York City and pushed his way behind the counter. Austin’s girlfriend had just had a dispute with the clerk in the store. The clerk was a 61-year-old Dominican immigrant called Jose Alba. The woman wanted a bag of potato chips, but there was no money left on her government issued food stamp card, so the clerk tried to take back the chips. The woman became enraged and went and got her boyfriend. Now, the boyfriend, Austin Simon, had a long history of violent crime. Simon has spent at least three years in prison for assault. His most recent parole expired last May. Though Simon had no apparent job, he was wearing a $300 designer T-shirt and a gold earring, and he was extremely angry. He was furious. Austin Simon threw Alba into a wall, then leaned down and screamed in his face. When the older man stood up, Simon grabbed him by the neck. Here’s a local news account describing what happened next. […] An openly racist Soros-backed prosecutor called Alvin Bragg, then charged Jose Alba with felony murder. He sent to Rikers Island, a jail famous among Democrats because it’s so squalid and so dangerous that they have spent decades trying to shut it down, but it wasn’t so bad they didn’t send Jose Alba there and then Bragg set his bail at a quarter of $1,000,000—$250,000 in a city that very recently was considering getting rid of all bail.

Without them, you will lose or fail to perform. It is that simple. Many a team and company, in my experience, has put all their eggs in one basket, so to speak, only to find that they get injured, lose it, are traded away, or just don’t live up to high expectations. I could give you hundreds of examples. The landscape is littered with also-rans. This is even more true in the hypercompetitive blood sport of politics.

The pipeline of young candidates coming up and through the ranks, at every level and for every office, determines the quality and quantity of seats a political party will hold—not just in the next election but far into the future. Hoge: Meet the 19-Year Air Force Vet Booted Just Before Retirement Over Refusal to Get COVID Vax

President Biden’s Defense Department has been busy recently gutting our forces of soldiers who refuse to get the required COVID vaccination, including the staggering, 60,000 Army National Guard troops who were told June 1 that they are no longer allowed to participate in their military duties. That move effectively cuts them off from many of their military benefits. It’s one thing to read numbers on a website, it’s another to put a face to the insanity. Meet Air Force Master Sergeant Nick Kupper, a 19-year veteran of the Air Force who was given his walking papers just one month before he was to become eligible for full military retirement. This is especially cruel because he is the father of a special needs daughter, and his family was counting on the health benefits that come after 20 years of service. Kupper appeared Wednesday on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News program, and as if to prove how petty the DOD is being, the Air Force called him right before his appearance to let him know they wanted to process his separation package the next day. […] Kupper has a strong record throughout his career, twice winning the Air Force’s recruiter of the year title and devoting thousands of hours to mentoring youth, raising money for child sponsoring organizations, and helping and sponsoring orphans from Ukraine. He even competed on the “American Ninja Warrior” show in 2019, giving the Air Force’s profile a nice boost on national TV. The Master Sergeant isn’t the only airman denied an exemption. The policy in question is Obama’s Title IX rules governing how schools handle sexual misconduct on campus. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits sex discrimination at any school receiving federal funding. Like all civil rights law, the scope of Title IX expanded dramatically, and in 2011 President Obama took it to it to new, ridiculous heights. The administration required colleges to adopt a “preponderance of the evidence” standard for judging sexual assault allegations, where if an accused person is deemed even 50.01% likely to be guilty, they must be held responsible. Schools were also encouraged to erect star chambers with single investigators, where accused students were denied any right to cross-examine an accuser or even see all the evidence against them. If they resisted, colleges were threatened with the loss of federal money—including access to student loans. For the vast majority of colleges, such a loss would effectively be a death sentence. In one of his most underrated moves to Make America Great Again, President Trump quickly repealed Obama’s policy. That should have sent it permanently to the ash bin of history. But alas, no. Not only is the policy back, but activists have concocted a version that is far more wicked than its predecessor. The new Biden regulations, which total more than 700 pages, once again . . .

Fox 5 NY: Travel warning Mexico: U.S. citizens urged to avoid Tijuana and Rosarito

The U.S. Embassy has issued a travel warning for Tijuana and Rosarito, Baja California due to a risk of kidnappings, injury, or death. The July 4th warning states that there is the potential for confrontations between criminal organizations and Mexican security forces in Baja California, following the July 2 arrest of a prominent cartel leader. “U.S. citizens should expect to encounter increased Mexican law enforcement presence in those areas. Criminal organization assassinations and territorial disputes can result in bystanders being injured or killed,” the travel advisory stated.

Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Japan’s longest-serving leader, died on Friday hours after he was shot while campaigning for a parliamentary election, shocking a country in which political violence is rare and guns are tightly controlled. A man opened fire on Abe, 67, from behind with an apparently homemade gun as he spoke at a drab traffic island in the western city of Nara, Japanese media reported. It was the first assassination of a sitting or former Japanese premier since the days of prewar militarism in 1936.
