And anyone could sell or buy these guns without a background check,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said Wednesday. “That changes today. This rule will make it harder for criminals and other prohibited persons to obtain untraceable guns. It will help to ensure that law enforcement officers can retrieve the information they need to solve crimes. And it will help reduce the number of untraceable firearms flooding our communities.” […] The Biden administration has framed the rule as part of an effort to crack down on crime.

Perhaps the difference is that Democrats and progressives are collectivist by nature, and therefore following the group is easier for them. Conservatives tend to admire individualism and like to be contrary. However, disproportionately conservatives have served in the military, and there, they seem to have no problem understanding discipline. In a war, it is necessary. Why is this important?

In a recent Fourth Circuit opinion, however, the court opens with the declaration that “Kesha Williams,” the plaintiff-appellant, “is a transgender woman.” Perhaps Walsh needs to do another documentary, filming the answers to the question: what is a “transgender woman?” Well, at least the opinion didn’t refer to Williams as a “transwoman.” It is bad enough that the general public—including reporters, journalists, and other people who write for a living—is not attentive enough to logic to avoid the thoughtless application of the tortured and distorted language advanced by those who support this agenda. But for these new, imaginary, reality-defying terms to be validated by unquestioning use in a judicial opinion is a travesty. There are times when modifying a word deprives it of all meaning. This, like the addition of the words “same-sex” before “marriage,” is one of those times.

Kusisto: Idaho Must Allow Abortions in Certain Emergencies, Judge Rules

A federal judge blocked Idaho from enforcing its near-total abortion ban in certain emergency situations, an early victory for the Justice Department in a case it filed this month. U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill on Wednesday issued a preliminary injunction that prevents the state from enforcing its ban in emergency circumstances where doctors and hospitals deem an abortion is necessary to avoid placing the health of a pregnant patient in serious jeopardy. The judge, an appointee of Democratic President Bill Clinton, said Idaho’s criminal abortion statute conflicted with a federal law that requires hospitals to provide certain basic levels of emergency care. Medicine’s goal, he said, “is to effectively identify problems and treat them promptly so patients are stabilized before they develop a life-threatening emergency. The Idaho law requires doctors to do the opposite—to wait until abortion is necessary to prevent the patient’s death.”

The following metallic elements were found in the vaccines: . . . […] These substances, furthermore, “are visible under the dark-field microscope as distinctive and complex structures of different sizes, can only partially be explained as a result of crystallization or decomposition processes, [and] cannot be explained as contamination from the manufacturing process,” the researchers found. […] Two other important findings were that blood samples from the vaccinated had “marked changes” and that more side effects were observed in proportion to “the stability of the envelope of lipid nanoparticles.”

The efficacy claims, for instance, are based on data from before Delta and before Omicron. Children’s Health Defense also sent a letter to the FDA VRPBA committee explaining the problems with the children’s trials. […] The Pfizer pediatric trial does not end for nearly another year, and yet the FDA committee decided that completion of such longer-term follow-up did not need to be a prerequisite to licensure unless warranted by a specific safety concern. They did not look for problems that, by truncating the timeline of the trials and restricting the data observed, they chose not to find.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) today released new data showing a total of 1,371,474 reports of adverse events following COVID-19 vaccines were submitted between Dec. 14, 2020, and July 29, 2022, to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). That’s an increase of 13,534 adverse events over the previous week. […] The data included a total of 29,981 reports of deaths — an increase of 191 over the previous week — and 249,116 serious injuries, including deaths, during the same time period — up 1,430 compared with the previous week. Of the 29,981 reported deaths, 19,348 cases are attributed to Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, 7,981 cases to Moderna, 2,603 cases to Johnson & Johnson (J&J) and no cases yet reported for Novavax. Excluding “foreign reports” to VAERS, 851,372 adverse events, including 13,894 deaths and 87,050 serious injuries, were reported in the U.S. between Dec. 14, 2020, and July 29, 2022.

The gravest possible charges were being levied against Sen. John McCain, the Republican nominee, coming right at the height of his presidential campaign. And not one word of this was being mentioned in any of our mainstream media outlets, while almost all of the thousands of political websites, large and small alike, remained just as silent. From that day forward, I have never looked upon our national media with the same eye. Everyone to whom I showed the article was just as shocked as myself, except for one or two individuals with a strong Vietnam War background, who privately confirmed that it was all probably true.

Experts believe that Alzheimer’s is triggered by amyloid beta proteins building up in the brain and clumping together, triggering tell-tale symptoms such as memory loss and loss of general cognitive function. Research from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, found that ramping up levels of a separate protein — aquaporin 4 — could help to remove them. In a study on mice genetically-engineered to make more amyloid beta, they found that those given compounds that boosted the levels of aquaporin 4 cleared the harmful proteins faster than those that received a placebo or inert liquid. […] In the study — published Wednesday in the journal Brain — scientists began by studying how aquaporin 4 was made in the brain.

Bond: California State Water Board Tells Ranchers To Stop Taking Water For Agriculture

Farmers and ranchers located near the Oregon state line in Northern California have been informed by the government to stop diverting water from a region dedicated to protecting fish. On Friday, the State Water Resources Control Board sent a draft cease-and-desist order to the Shasta Water Association, informing the group they needed to stop collecting water from the Shasta River watershed, according to the Los Angeles Times. The group is an irrigation organization exempt from taxes and has around 80 members. The Shasta Water Association has twenty days to ask for a hearing or the order will be complete, which could mean that the group has to pay fines of up to $10,000 per day, the state water agency said.

Governor Gavin Newsom first announced the ban in 2020 as a means to reduce the amount of smog-induced pollution in the air, which will improve the state’s air quality that is the worst in the US. The move will also make California the first in the world to mandate zero-emission vehicles on its roads – but many other states and countries have joined the movement, but have not yet began the ban. Thursday’s launch will require that 35 percent of new passenger vehicles sold in the state by 2026 produce zero emissions, then 68 percent by 2030 and ultimately 100 percent five years after.

The 48-year-old man from Alston in Cumbria, a county in North West England, developed an “excruciating” headache on May 13, 2021, eight days after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine. Although he took painkillers, Zion’s headaches increased in severity and four days later, his speech was impaired and he started having seizures. Zion died May 19, 2021, despite emergency surgery to try to treat his “vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia,” which causes swelling and bleeding in the brain. […] As of July 27, the U.K.’s vaccine regulator, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), had received reports of 444 cases — including 80 deaths — of major thromboembolic events (blood clots) with concurrent thrombocytopenia (low platelet counts) in people who received an AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. Six of the deaths occurred after the second dose.

Tomatoes are having a spate of bad luck in recent news. First, I reported we might face a tomato shortage. Now, doctors in India are sounding the alarm over a new virus dubbed “tomato flu” that has infected over 80 children. The infection was spotted in May in the southern state of Kerala and it is feared to be a new variant of hand, foot, and mouth disease. Experts are also probing whether it is the after-effect of a mosquito-borne infection but they have not ruled out an entirely new pathogen.
