Mehmet II succeeded his father, Murad II, to rule the Muslim Ottoman Empire. After killing his brothers, he later formalized this practice into law, stating: “Whichever of my sons inherits the sultan’s throne, it behooves him to kill his brothers in the interest of the world order.” On May 29, 1453, at the age of 21, Mehmet II conquered the Byzantine city of Constantinople, the largest and richest city in Europe. Located on the Bosporus, where the East and West met, it largely served as the capital of Christendom for over a thousand years. Mehmet had stated: “The ghaza (holy war) is our basic duty, as it was in the case of our fathers … The conquest of (Constantinople) is … essential to the future and the safety of the Ottoman state.” The fall of Constantinople ended the Byzantine Empire and permanently altered trade routes from Europe to Asia, which had been traveled for centuries by merchants, such as Marco Polo. Detractors of Columbus should turn one chapter back in the history books and lay blame for his voyages on the expansionist policies of Sultan Mehmet II, who blocked Western access to the land trade routes to India and China.

Farrell: Democrats are operating a series of 51 ‘fake news’ websites pushing left-wing stories in toss-up states in a bid to turn the midterms in their favor, shocking investigation finds

A liberal political media operation being run out of Washington, D.C., and Florida is pushing left-wing stories in 51 different fake news outlets in order to influence the outcome of the November midterm elections, it is claimed. The allegations came in a shocking new investigation from Axios that was published on Thursday. The report alleges that in the past 12 months, multiple new ‘news’ website have appeared across the country, all run by a company named Local Report Inc. They do report a wide variety of stories – but sprinkled throughout are news items pushing Democrat lawmakers and policies. Online records show that the Local Report was founded in Tallahassee, Fla. Content is provided for the sites from writers who are employed by another left-wing group, the American Independent. The Independent was founded by David Brock, known for other liberal endeavors such as Fox News watchdog, Media Matters for America.

Heine: America First Legal Sues 14 Federal Agencies for Refusing to Disclose the Biden Regime’s Takeover of Election Administration

The America First Legal Foundation (AFL) has sued fourteen federal agencies for concealing a secretive Biden regime plan to take over election administration ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. In March of 2021, Joe Biden signed Executive Order 14019, “Promoting Access to Voting,” which called for all 600 federal agencies to submit to a “Strategic Plan” to “expand access to voter registration and election information.” The order urges the agencies to use “agency materials, websites, online forms, social media platforms, and other points of public access” to educate the public on “how to register to vote”—including “multilingual voter registration and election information”—”how to request a vote-by-mail ballot, and how to cast a ballot in upcoming elections.”

The media usually find a way to twist facts to fit their political narrative, but their powers of distortion are being tested by Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman. Shockingly, or perhaps not, the soft-on-crime progressive has two convicted murderers working for his campaign. This scandal somehow flew under the radar until September, when Dr. Mehmet Oz, his Republican opponent, started making it an issue. Even now, the self-appointed “fact checkers” have barely touched the story, and with good reason. […] The evidence at trial showed that the Hortons and a third man, a childhood friend named Robert Leaf, held up Filito’s Bar in Philadelphia on Memorial Day. During the robbery, a man named Samuel Alamo was shot dead. A woman and her daughter were also shot. When police caught up with the robbers a mile from the bar, they found a .22 caliber rifle in the back of their car. Eyewitnesses, including the injured woman and her daughter, identified the Hortons as participants in the robbery, and they were convicted of second-degree murder, which in Pennsylvania comes with an automatic life sentence. Leaf was convicted of third-degree murder. […] Even Josh Shapiro, the Democratic progressive candidate for governor, initially opposed pardons for the Hortons. But they became an important piece of a phony personal narrative for Fetterman, who with odd familiarity described the brothers as two of the “kindest and hardest-working people I know.” Coming from the man who was living off his parents until middle-age, that isn’t much of a compliment.

Today, State Surgeon General Dr. Joseph A. Ladapo has announced new guidance regarding mRNA vaccines. The Florida Department of Health conducted an analysis through a self-controlled case series, which is a technique originally developed to evaluate vaccine safety. This analysis found that there is an 84% increase in the relative incidence of cardiac-related death among males 18-39 years old within 28 days following mRNA vaccination. With a high level of global immunity to COVID-19, the benefit of vaccination is likely outweighed by this abnormally high risk of cardiac-related death among men in this age group.

Democrat Sean Casten’s 17 year-old daughter Gwen passed away earlier this year due to sudden cardiac arrythmia, the family noted in a statement today. “In layman’s terms, she was fine, and then her heart stopped,” the statement explained, noting that the young woman was healthy and the family does not know the reason the heart issue occurred. Gwen was a healthy 2022 teenager. She ate well, exercised, got regular check-ups, didn’t suffer from any behavioral health issues, and had close relationships with family and friends. She was fully vaccinated, and quarantined after occasional positive, asymptomatic COVID tests during the omicron wave. She had just come home from an evening with friends, went to bed and didn’t wake up,” the family noted.

US special operations forces are on the ground in Ukraine as part of a broad covert operation that includes CIA personnel, The Intercept reported on Wednesday, citing unnamed US intelligence and military officials. The report said that the US withdrew its CIA and special operations assets from Ukraine shortly before Russia’s invasion, although one US official said the CIA “never completely left.” The CIA initially predicted that Kyiv would fall quickly to Russia, but after it became clear that wouldn’t happen, the Biden administration sent its covert assets back into Ukraine.

The Executive Order of October 7, 2022 (Enhancing Safeguards for United States Signals Intelligence Activities), establishes . . . […] What could the Biden Administration be gearing up for? Why would they want to relax restrictions on intelligence collecting? Are they planning escalation in Ukraine, escalation in their Domestic War on American Patriots, or both?

Former CIA Director Mike Hayden, shortly after the FBI raided the home of former President Donald J. Trump, responded to a tweet by Michael Beschloss in a way that, apart from disregarding any presumption of innocence, seemingly endorsed the idea that Trump was a spy who, for allegedly having taken classified documents, should be executed by the government, as the Rosenbergs were in 1953 for having passed US nuclear secrets to the Soviet Union. “Sounds about right,” Hayden wrote over of photograph of the Rosenbergs on Twitter.Full disclosure There is a bit of history between Hayden and me. I opposed his nomination to be CIA director, by saying at the time, “Bottom line: I do believe he’s the wrong person, the wrong place at the wrong time.” Hayden’s comment reflects what many fear: that there is a real double standard for certain Americans versus protected bureaucrats, politicians, and those favored by a mainstream media that has been accused of behaving like an arm of the Democratic Party (here, here and here). When President Joe Biden stood in Philadelphia before a blood-red wall flanked by U.S. Marines whom the Commander-in-Chief used as political props, he did not condemn Hayden’s suggestion to execute the former president; instead, he attacked everyday Americans with whose politics he disagrees.

ust before leaving town for the August recess, the United States Senate quietly — and unanimously — confirmed the head of the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). The agency’s vision is “economic prosperity for all American business enterprises.” The MBDA will build regional centers, run grant programs, offer training programs, and assist businesses in obtaining financing, among other things. Make no mistake: This federal agency is not an equal opportunity provider. Congress limited the MBDA, part of the Department of Commerce, to assisting only “disadvantaged businesses,” which federal law presumes to be only businesses owned by African Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, Asians, or Pacific Islanders. All white-owned businesses are presumed to be “not disadvantaged.” MBDA’s website is crystal clear that the agency is “solely dedicated to the growth and global competitiveness of minority business enterprises.” Why is this a problem? The Constitution broadly forbids race discrimination by the government.

DiLorenzo: Have You Had Enough?

I insist I am not crazy. But, much of the world is. It is twisted beyond recognition. Politicians, our government institutions, the medical profession, multi-national corporations, almost everything having to do with education, the entertainment industry, even our military leaders. Being absurd seems to be fashionable now. People wear it like a badge of honor, and enlightenment. This just keeps happening, and I’ll just keep writing about it. A 22 year-old Iowa resident named Noah Petersen was arrested this week at a meeting of the Newton City Council after sharply criticizing the town’s police department and refusing to be silent when the mayor told him to stop. You can read a local news story here, or see full video here. Here’s a TV news report that gets in most of the important action: “You are out of order, sir,” and, “Chief, escort this gentleman from the chambers.” Because he criticized the city government. I find the interrupted comment lumpy and cartoonish — more about this in a moment — but it doesn’t matter: The First Amendment protects dumb speech, too. […] Note the absence of a description of the “manner that was deemed to be in violation of the stated rules for citizen participation.” Watch the video, because the manner in which Petersen was speaking was unremarkable. The mayor’s objection, and the thing that led to the arrest, was unmistakably the content of his comments. He criticized government, so government silenced him.

Everyone knows who Colin Kaepernick is—not so much for his feats on the field (he’s now retired from the NFL) but rather because of his politics on the field. There’s another player—still on the field—whose off-field work (and background) more ought to know about. They don’t—because he doesn’t make an issue of it. He is Aaron Judge—who plays for the New York Yankees and was voted American League MVP during the 2017 season, when he was a rookie outfielder. Judge is also known for being physically impressive, standing six feet, seven inches tall and weighing some 270 pounds—big enough to play in the NFL. Judge, who is only 30, is already one of the most successful professional baseball players in the history of the sport. If he retired today, he’d be famous forever. […] What’s more important, arguably, is what Judge does off the field and out of the glare of the press. Judge is a Christian who founded the All Rise Foundation, whose mission statement is to “inspire children and youth to become responsible citizens and encourage them to reach unlimited possibilities.” As he did. As he was given the opportunity to do—by the white couple who adopted him the day after he was born and raised him to become the man—and player— he now is. Clearly, this is evidence of oppression.

The death of George Floyd sparked the violence, but it wasn’t the cause.

Zeisloft: New PayPal Policy Lets Company Pull $2,500 From Users’ Accounts If They Promote ‘Misinformation’

The financial services company, which has repeatedly deplatformed organizations and individual commentators for their political views, will expand its “existing list of prohibited activities” on November 3. Among the changes are prohibitions on “the sending, posting, or publication of any messages, content, or materials” that “promote misinformation” or “present a risk to user safety or wellbeing.” Users are also barred from “the promotion of hate, violence, racial or other forms of intolerance that is discriminatory.” The company’s current acceptable use policy does not mention such activities. The Daily Wire reached out to PayPal for definitions of the added terms, although no response was received in time for publication.

Smith: Texas teen is charged after choking TWO newborns in hospital where his girlfriend was giving birth: Suspect snatched one infant from its mother and broke into the nursery to attack again before being stopped by nurses

First, he snatched a newborn from a carrier while its mother was waiting to leave the hospital. He ran away with that baby to the lactation room where he choked it until a nurse arrived and intervened. Next, he entered the nursery where he scooped up a newborn baby girl. McCowan shook and strangled her while screaming ‘die!’
