Husebro: Democrat David Cicilline Tries to Permanently Bar Donald Trump from White House

Democrat Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) on Tuesday circulated a letter to round up support to permanently bar former President Donald Trump from reelection. Accusing Trump of citing an insurrection, Cicilline cited the Fourteenth Amendment in the Constitution as the basis for which Trump should never again be allowed to govern. […] Cicilline’s letter did not mention that Trump was acquitted in the 2021 Senate impeachment trial. Cicilline’s letter also failed to mention the January 6 Committee has not alleged Trump committed insurrection, the New York Times reported. Instead, the January 6 Committee is trying to pin “criminal violations” on Trump, “including obstructing an official proceeding of Congress and conspiracy to defraud the American people.”

He’ll be running against a man who received 74 million votes—more votes than any incumbent in American history. And as for those who say, “DeSantis is so much better than Trump!” How do you know? Yes, he is great if you’re a Floridan. But that’s one state out of 50. Do they have any idea how he’d run America’s national defense? Or our foreign policy? Would he close the border? Shipping 50 illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard was a cool stunt. But it doesn’t actually stop the cartels or prevent 110,000 fentanyl deaths in a year. He could be a great president—maybe. On the other hand, there is no question President Trump can do the job. Because he did it for 4 years. He crushed ISIS, revitalized the military, brought inflation down to 1.8 percent and gas to under $2 a gallon, revitalized NATO, made America energy independent, pushed unemployment to the lowest levels in generations, and oversaw a stock market boom that helped everyone’s 401k. Need I go on?

Who or what was responsible for the Republican nationwide collapse in the midterms? After all, pundits, politicos, and pollsters all predicted a “red tsunami.” Moreover, the average loss of any president in his first midterm is 25 House seats. And when his approval sinks to or below 43 percent—in the fashion of Joe Biden—the loss, on average, expands to over 40 seats. Barack Obama in 2010 lost 63 seats. Is Biden, therefore, more charismatic or more energetic than Obama? Was his agenda more successful and popular? Given such high Republican expectations, the blame game for the loss is as strident and confusing as was the election itself. Here are some of the most common targets of criticism.

A huge amount of my time, indeed most of it, is spent trying to close down the digital divide, which was a chasm before the Covid lockdowns, but is now more like the Grand Canyon. If I’m not teaching a technology class, I’m helping someone find legal information, affordable housing, medical insurance or social services support. I also spend a chunk of time building our online community archive, which features collections from underrepresented parts of my community. My library is a place of last refuge for society’s discarded, for people who have no shelter, no hope. […] What is now common knowledge, and was very obvious to me after only a short time; this essential/nonessential divide was utterly capricious. […] The “Stay at Home” document for my county was long, brutal and entirely Orwellian. Just reading it again makes me shudder at its totalitarian finality, wiping out whole sectors of human production and movement with the stroke of a pen, with criminality imposed on those who did not abide. Section 4.02. Enforcement states . . . […] What does it feel like, existentially, to be declared “nonessential” in a career that one believes in that one spent two years in graduate school for?

On Wednesday, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors heard from members of the public who are outraged over the Board’s mishandling of the 2020 General Election. The Supervisors, who oversee the Elections Department, are ultimately responsible for the voter disenfranchisement that occurred on Election Day. While few speakers praised the supervisors, the vast majority complained about the gross mismanagement by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors and their Elections Department. Most speakers referenced the approximately 17,000 ballots were unable to be counted on Election Day, as well as the unknown but substantial number of voters who gave up on the process and left without casting a ballot.

But before the election there were some things in Aridzona which one could not shut his eyes to. One was, that ignorance and incompetence in the government but the ingenuity at which the entrenched Party of Government ran elections. The candidate for governor could hide out from election debates and can hardly find words to discuss anything intelligently in an extemporaneous manner. The best and the brightest did not gravitate to the Party of Government as elected officials. As Mark Twain might say, a hod carrier could get elected governor but could scapegoat those in the Party of Non-Government as hogging the vote while the Party of Government pigged out on the spoils. So, what happened during the mid-term “election season” of 2022 in mostly states controlled by the Party of Government is like that just happened in Aridzona where only 16.6 percent of the vote but somehow gained over 50% of the votes.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed said Wednesday the program will provide low-income transgender residents with payments of up to $1,200 each month for up to 18 months.
