Former President Donald Trump defended former Vice President Mike Pence following a report alleging that classified documents were found in his home. “Mike Pence is an innocent man. He never did anything knowingly dishonest in his life. Leave him alone!!!” Trump said in a Truth Social post Tuesday.

Trump’s comments came shortly after a CNN report alleging that Pence’s lawyer found 12 classified documents at Pence’s home. The lawyer alerted the National Archives, which in turn alerted the Justice Department. Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Indianapolis field office reportedly retrieved the documents from Pence’s home that same evening.

Ellmers: We Don’t Need Another Church Committee, We Need a Reformation

If congressional Republicans are going to reform the FBI and the national security state—which is something they should do—they need to understand the real source of the problems. The last thing we need is another Church Committee. I respect Darren Beattie and Steve Bannon—two of the most prominent voices citing the reforms undertaken by Congress in the 1970s as a precedent for congressional action today. They are, however, missing a key point: what Congress did 50 years ago did not fix any problem; it created this problem. The outrageous partisanship and misuse of power we’ve seen over the last few years from the intelligence community and the Justice Department are exactly what Congress intended in the 1970s. […] . . . with such a slim majority, the House Republicans don’t have the votes to pass meaningful legislation. And a Senate and White House controlled by Democrats ensure that any bills passed by the House would go nowhere in any case. The most effective course, therefore, would be to use the power of the committee chairmanships to investigate and expose the unconstitutional usurpations of the permanent government, or “fourth branch.” This must include giving committee chairmen like Jordan subpoena power to compel recalcitrant bureaucrats. But as I’ve pointed out in a recent book review in The New Criterion and a podcast with Lee Smith, today’s CIA and FBI are behaving exactly the way Congress intended. The so-called reforms of the Church Committee . . .

McCarthy has vowed to remove Democrat Reps. Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff of California from the House select committee on Intelligence, while threatening to remove progressive Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar off the Foreign Affairs Committee. […] Meanwhile, Democrats have signaled that they’re ready to call McCarthy’s bluff. On Sunday, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wrote a letter to McCarthy formally renominating Swalwell and Schiff to the intelligence panel. And on Monday, Omar wrote a letter to House Democrats’ steering committee – which is responsible for allocating panel assignments – officially asking to once again serve on the Foreign Affairs Committee. […] Republican Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina indicated that she will also likely oppose Omar’s removal if it comes to a House vote.

McCarthy on Tuesday reiterated his decision and said that Swalwell was banned due to his relationship with a Chinese spy, while Schiff ‘lied to the public’ […] In the previous Congress, Democrats booted Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Paul Gosar of Arizona from their committee assignments for incendiary commentary that they said incited potential violence against colleagues. Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, in a letter sent to McCarthy over the weekend, asked that Schiff and Swalwell be reappointed to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, a prestigious panel with access to sensitive, classified information. There is no ‘precedent or justification’ for rejecting them, Jeffries said.

Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley reintroduced a bill to ban members of Congress and their spouses from owning and trading stocks, and used the name of his legislation to troll former Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The Preventing Elected Leaders from Owning Securities and Investments (PELOSI) Act would give members and their spouses six months after first assuming office to divest any holdings or put them in a blind trust – mutual funds, exchange-traded funds and Treasury bonds would still be allowed. Any members found in violation of the bill would have to ‘return their profits to American taxpayers.’

House Republicans have tapped the members who will lead an investigation into how the government handled the coronavirus pandemic, including conservative firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. Looking to flip the table on years of Democratic-led probes, Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday night named nine Republicans to the select subcommittee, including a chief in Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio), co-chair of the GOP Doctors Caucus. The subcommittee is likely to be at the center of a multi-pronged, GOP-led effort to investigate coronavirus policies. That’s expected to include pandemic restrictions, the origins of the virus and decisions by high-profile health officials, including Anthony Fauci, who stepped down from his post as President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser last year.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said Tuesday that Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., will be removed from Congress if an investigation by the House Ethics Committee concludes he violated the law. The committee’s investigation was launched following reports that Santos fabricated parts of his background, including his education and work history, during his 2022 campaign. The freshman congressman is also being probed by several federal, state and local entities. McCarthy has largely defended Santos against calls for his resignation. The speaker has condemned some of Santos’ conduct, but Tuesday was the first instance in which he suggested potential consequences for the New York Republican.

[…] Margon faced opposition from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s ranking Republican, Jim Risch of Idaho. Risch, citing past tweets of hers, accused Margon of supporting the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, which targets Israel due to its policies toward the Palestinians.

Good for Senator Risch. Politico can cry as hard as it likes, but this is a win for actual human rights.

Right, so there’s a big purge going on in Kiev today—and ongoing purge that will ripple through the Ukro-Nazi regime for a few days. It began under the heading of an anti-corruption drive. An anti-corruption drive in Ukraine is something like a classified documents security crackdown in the US (h/t GT640Z)—a traditional way of removing officials who are viewed, for one reason or another, as a nuisance: The purge began within days of CIA Director Burns’ crash visit to Kiev, supposedly to brief Zelensky on Russia’s planned moves. The reality is that many of the purged officials constitute Zelensky’s inner circle of advisers. Presumably Burns went to Kiev to inform Zelensky that the US was taking over direct direction, and to brief Zelensky on what his new role would be. Interestingly, the last I heard of Zelensky’s whereabouts he was in Boca Raton. Maybe he’s back in Kiev today, but he was out of country for a while. What it actually looks like is the US’s traditional reaction to foreign wars going badly— […] Obviously we’ll need to see how this plays out. It doesn’t bode well for Ukraine. Purges in the middle of a war? Rarely a good idea, no matter what, and especially when the purge is directed by a foreign power.

A committee with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is set to meet this week regarding COVID vaccinations and recommendations for the future. On Thursday, the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee Meeting will meet to discuss various steps with regard to COVID vaccinations.

In a briefing document regarding the meeting, the FDA said that it is hoping the committee will think about several items, including making the immunization schedule easier by giving specific kids, immunocompromised people, and older people two shots, but only one to other people. It also wants the panel to think about making a system for vaccination recommendations akin to the way the flu shot is handled every year.

Prestigiacomo: Hochul Won’t Hire Back Unvaxxed Health Care Workers Despite Overturned Mandate, Worker Shortage.

A state Supreme Court judge in Syracuse last week struck down the statewide vaccine mandate for medical staffers. The mandate was first implemented by former Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) in 2021, and then Hochul supported the edict when she became governor. “Our healthcare systems are in desperate need of staff right now, we’ve had ambulances waiting five hours at our local emergency rooms to unload patients,” Rochester-based reporter Jennifer Lewke told Hochul. “The hospitals and nursing homes say they’re waiting for DOH [New York State Department of Health] guidance on whether they can hire any of those workers back. What’s the latest on that?” Hochul said she’s considering legal options to challenge the decision that overturned the mandate and highlighted recruitment efforts for more vaccinated healthcare workers. The Democrat also acknowledged that the shortage is “a problem,” while claiming the answer is not to hire ousted unvaccinated workers.

A new agenda for future doctors amid major distrust of the medical profession. This spring, Harvard Medical School is slated to begin implementing a new curriculum geared toward getting future doctors to incorporate climate activism into their practices. The Boston Globe reports that instead of adding new classes specifically devoted to the subject, the curriculum approved in January will be incorporating into existing classes material on how “climate change” affects human health, how health care systems supposedly contribute to the phenomenon, and how doctors can “be part of the solution.”

Examples included amending lessons on health problems caused by extreme temperatures to include claims that “climate change” is the underlying cause of those temperatures, and “climate advocacy as a way for medical students and physicians to support their patients” incorporated into an introductory course on the “responsibilities and expectations of medical students and doctors,” something Harvard already did last year and the new curriculum will expand upon. […] In March 2019, Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore called AGW alarmism a “complete hoax and scam,” a “kind of toxic combination of religion and political ideology” that is “as bad a thing that has happened to science in the history of science.”

Duggan: President Of Transgender Medical Org Says Peer Pressure Can Lead Kids To Transition

Marci Bowers, president of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), acknowledged that peer influence or social contagion plays a role in children adopting transgender identities, according to an interview with The New York Times. Bowers, a pelvic and gynecologic surgeon, famously treated Jazz Jennings, a reality television star who underwent medical transition as a minor, and WPATH has supported childhood gender transitions throughout her tenure as president. Bowers said peer influence did play a role in some children’s decision to pursue transgender identities, according to the NYT. “There are people in my community who will deny that there’s any sort of ‘social contagion’ — I shouldn’t say social contagion, but at least peer influence on some of these decisions,” Bowers said in reference to the growing number of children who identify as transgender. “I think that’s just not recognizing human behavior.”

Cosmopolitan magazine defines a transmasculine person as falling on “the masculine spectrum,” per the education director of adult toy retailer and sexual health company Good Vibrations. […] Rantz argued that the DOH’s post was about much more than health, it was about politics. “Raising awareness about the importance of cervical screenings is important. But an awareness campaign that they know will illicit mockery doesn’t help the cause. It does, however, make WA DOH staff seem like victims who fight for the transmasculine persons with cervix community.”

But the marionettes that are implementing the green assault on civilization are everywhere. An elective program at the Indiana University School of Medicine is under federal investigation for discrimination based on color, race and sex after a senior fellow with a nonprofit opposed to progressive ideology in med schools filed a civil rights complaint against it. Applicants to the “Underrepresented in Medicine Visiting Elective Program” must identify as “Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, LGBTQ+” to qualify, according to its website. […] Title IV and Title IX of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibit discrimination based on race and sex, respectively, by institutions that receive federal funds. OCR is responsible for enforcing these laws, the letter stated. “I only file federal civil rights complaints when I determine after careful review that a school is clearly violating Title VI or Title IX,” Perry said in an email to The College Fix last week. […] IU School of Medicine is “no outlier,” Perry told The Fix. “Almost every US medical school now illegally discriminates.” He filed nearly 50 complaints against medical schools in 2022, he said.

Most thinking people would be astonished at this suggestion, “Schools are superior in China?! But that’s where totalitarianism reigns supreme! It’s where children are indoctrinated and forever changed.” They wouldn’t be wrong. But it would be far too easy to dismiss Kaye as just another American leftist who favors communism over freedom. Kaye’s argument on behalf of the virtues of Chinese education is not persuasive, but her experience in China raises significant questions about America’s educational and pedagogical system. Unintentionally perhaps, Kaye highlights the challenges that many schools in America face today.[…] Much of what Kaye lauds about Chinese doesn’t sound so bad. The problem is the government should never be considered a “co-parent.” Kaye’s daughters may have respect for authority but will they be able to tell which authority means well and which means harm? […] Kaye is not anticipating what will happen when her daughters become adults. Will they think critically, or will they choose another substitute authority to follow in order to maintain their good standing as servants of the state? […] But what about the American school system? […] The American school system is an exercise in shapeshifting. Because it’s constantly mutating and is entirely based on some form of Marxism but thriving on ambiguity (in other words, always evading truth and creating metaphysical confusion through the use and abuse of language), it is psychologically more harmful than any concrete rigidity that we might find in communist systems.

Gangel, Herb & Perez: First on CNN: Classified documents found at Pence’s Indiana home

A lawyer for former Vice President Mike Pence discovered about a dozen documents marked as classified at Pence’s Indiana home last week, and he has turned those classified records over to the FBI, multiple sources familiar with the matter told CNN. The FBI and the Justice Department’s National Security Division have launched a review of the documents and how they ended up in Pence’s house in Indiana. The classified documents were discovered at Pence’s new home in Carmel, Indiana, by a lawyer for Pence in the wake of the revelations about classified material discovered in President Joe Biden’s private office and residence, the sources said. The discovery comes after Pence has repeatedly said he did not have any classified documents in his possession. It is not yet clear what the documents are related to or their level of sensitivity or classification.

Greenfield: FBI Makes First Arrests in Pregnancy Center Attacks

It’s amazing.
