A gun rights advocacy group and three U.S. military veterans filed separate lawsuits against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Tuesday, saying its recently implemented pistol brace rule violates the Constitution. The final rule, announced in early January and put into effect Monday, redefined a “rifle” as any weapon “designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder,” forcing pistol brace owners to register their pistols as “short barrel rifles” or SBRs with the federal government. The lawsuits challenge the ATF’s authority to implement the final rule, further claiming that the ruling is a violation of the Second Amendment. The Washington Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) filed the first lawsuit on behalf of three United States Marine Corps veterans, alleging the ATF’s new rule violates the Second Amendment and exceeds the ATF’s statutory powers.

Democrats and corporate media joined forces this week to malign a gun manufacturer for selling a gun that will help adults teach their kids how to safely handle and shoot a firearm. There’s nothing inherently illegal about gun manufacturer WEE1 Tactical’s all-black JR-15, a 2.5 lb .22 long rifle designed to function “like a modern sporting rifle.” As a matter of fact, once it hits the market later this year, the JR-15 will be one of the safest introductory firearms for sale. Yet, seven Democrat senators are renewing their demands that the Federal Trade Commission punish legitimate gun manufacturers like WEE1 for allegedly marketing “assault rifles” and “deadly weapons of war” to young children. […] The attempt to discredit a perfectly legitimate company for manufacturing and marketing a perfectly legal gun is clearly a coordinated political move.[…] Brother-sister duo Eric Schmid and Heidi Schaefer of WEE1 designed the JR-15 to be a smaller, lighter, and safer version of an AR-15 that can be used to teach kids about gun safety. “Our goal was to build a truly unique shooting platform that a Parent or Coach can safely use to teach a young enthusiast,” a flyer promoting the firearm states. […] Despite the gun’s above-and-beyond safety measures, gun control groups and Democrats called the JR-15’s first debut at the 2022 Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas a “grotesque joke,” and “sickening,” and wrongfully smeared one of the safest guns on the market as a “weapon of war.”

Schrupp: Environmentalists’ Life-Threatening Sulfur Launch Exposes Carbon Indulgences As A Scam

At the end of 2022, climate startup Make Sunsets announced it had launched two payloads of reflective sulfur into the New Mexico sky as proof of concept for its planet-cooling technology. By filling the sky with sun-reflective sulfur, the company hopes to attack climate change directly by simply reducing the world’s temperature — and it’s hoping to make a fortune in the process by selling carbon credits to greenhouse gas emitters. But because blocking out the sun would produce catastrophic consequences for food and energy production and even human health, these credits would have to include both the “cost” of each ton of carbon dioxide offset by the sulfur and the negative effects of less sunlight reaching the Earth. Once accounting for the damage from blocking our sun, it’s likely Make Sunrise’s credits are worth less than zero and are a net liability for humanity that could, if scaled, cause significant damage to our planet. To prevent financial fraud and ecological catastrophe, including acid rain, the Biden administration must take immediate action to shut the company’s operations down for good.

A harebrained scheme coming out of municipal governments nationwide is the idea of “partnering” (you have to love the language creativity they employ) with solar energy co-operatives. I live in the beautiful (formerly red, then purple, now unfortunately blue) state of Colorado. The co-op being offered here is with Solar United Neighbors (SUN). Partnerships like these are being launched with much fanfare. What is the purpose? Municipal officials say that it is to “demystify” solar energy and to “educate” residents about the virtues of going solar. Huh? Where is the mystery? A few minutes on the ‘net will answer just about all questions about solar energy. And always beware when leftist politicians say they only want to “educate” you. […] . . . this idea of a co-op with SUN is nutty. The Colorado representative for SUN is Tanner Simeon-Cox, who writes that he is “driven to build power with communities toward justice, liberation, and a democratic energy system” (italics are mine). Now, I understand English as well as the next guy, but what does that even mean? […] Elsewhere on the SUN website, one finds another goal: “defend solar rights.” Whoa! Now things are really getting weird. I can’t find those rights in any constitution I ever read.

Biden on Thursday tapped Brown University climate scientist Kim Cobb to serve on the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, the White House announced in a press release. While past presidents have used the board to probe high-profile national security threats and intelligence failures, it’s unclear whether Cobb will be able to stomach such sensitive and unsettling information. That’s because the mere news of Trump’s upset win in 2016 sent Cobb into “an acute mental health crisis” that for weeks saw her unable to “get out of bed, despite having four children to tend to,” the climate scientist told Mother Jones in 2019. […] The President’s Intelligence Advisory Board is by no means a well-known entity—a 2006 Richard Lounsbery Foundation report called it “one of the smallest, most secretive, least well-known … parts of the U.S. intelligence community.”

At the bottom of it all, the tawdriness of McGonigal hooking up in an FBI vehicle and dispatching agents to drive his mistress around, or Hanssen sharing nude photos of his wife in chat rooms, was the smallness of the men in contrast to the seriousness of their responsibilities. Under the suits and ties are men who know all too well the measure of their unworthiness. They sell out their country to afford a nicer house, a boat or a mistress. They have affairs and lie about them. The Russians don’t have to go to any great lengths to compromise them because they have already compromised themselves. They go through the facades of church or politics, but they don’t really believe in anything. Hanssen was outwardly churchgoing, but dove into the sewer. McGonigal’s mistress describes him as “apolitical” and that’s probably true. Even the anti-Trump antics of the Russiagaters was not born out of real passion, but of a career establishment. […] The national security manned by men like McGonigal, McCabe and Strzok, or, for that matter Comey and Wray, is an institutional entity, not a patriotic enterprise. It has no more affinity for America than it does any other country. Its men and women do their jobs, which are hazardous to the mind and the soul, until the task of dealing with the worst of humanity, traitors, drug dealers, con artists and government officials, decays their morals and convinces them that there is no real right and wrong, that the world just consists of those who take what they can get.And so they start taking too.

Imagine if law enforcement officials in Washington, D.C., had acted as swiftly as police in Memphis in releasing body worn camera footage related to the use of lethal force. It took Memphis authorities less than a month to compile security and body camera recordings to show the brutal beating of Tyre Nichols, who died three days after five police officers attacked him on January 7 following a traffic stop for alleged reckless driving. Under pressure from family members and civil rights groups, the city of Memphis made public nearly an hour of footage aggregated from several angles to show what happened to Nichols.

[…] Transparency and justice, to the extent it ever will ease his family’s grief, came quickly for Tyre Nichols. That is not the situation for four Donald Trump supporters who died on January 6, either wholly or partially due to the actions of Capitol and D.C. Metropolitan police officers on duty that day. More than two years after the fact, body worn camera footage is only slowly being released at the criminal trials of January 6 defendants. (Only D.C. Metro police are required to wear body cameras.) And the Department of Justice, unlike the city of Memphis, is making it nearly impossible for the general public to access the very limited trove, which has been uploaded to a platform created to house all digital evidence for the department’s “Capitol Siege” investigation.

Colorado cake artist Jack Phillips is going on 11 years of being harassed by LGBT activists and government authorities for being a practicing Christian. It was 2012 when Phillips was first hauled before his state’s speech tribunal for telling a gay couple he’d happily sell them anything in his shop but he couldn’t create a custom wedding cake celebrating sexual activities that his religion says are wrong. Last Thursday, Colorado’s Court of Appeals ruled he must bake a transgender celebration cake or face legal consequences beyond the 11 years of legal and social harassment he’s already endured — and counting. […] U.S. governments may not prohibit the free exercise of religion, nor the freedom of speech. On both these counts, Phillips’ rights are clear and ought to be secured by courts. Instead, however, his natural human rights have been ceaselessly mutilated by not only the entire machinery of Colorado courts but also the U.S. Supreme Court. In 2018, the Supreme Court ruled in Phillips’ favor, yet in such a narrow ruling as to allow a venomous transgender activist to immediately haul him back into court after speciously demanding that Phillips bake a transgender celebration cake. […] The Supreme Court allowed this unconstitutional and anti-freedom regime to proliferate while pretending to check it with weak and ineffectual action.

“I just don’t see the logic of it,” stated Barranco in an interview with The Epoch Times. “Everybody knows an organ transplant procedure requires the nearly complete suppression of a recipient’s immune system so the body won’t reject it. “Then why do I need to be immunized against COVID before the operation?” When asked if he thought the vaccine would make any difference in his prognosis, he replied, “Yeah, the vax can kill me. “To qualify for a transplant both of my kidneys have to be functioning at 20 percent or less. What if the vax destroys the remaining function before the operation? If it does, I’m done.

Kew: Federal Judge Strikes Down California’s Punitive COVID ‘Misinformation’ Law

A punitive California law that gave the state medical board the power to punish doctors for spreading alleged COVID-19 misinformation has been put on hold by a federal judge. Judge William B. Shubb of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California temporarily halted the law after opponents of the measure began the process of challenging it in court. Five doctors filed a lawsuit against state leaders, claiming the law violates their First Amendment rights to free speech and expression and their Fourteenth Amendment rights to due process of law. […] Judge Shubb, an appointee during the Bush administration, sided with the group stating, “COVID-19 is such a new and evolving area of scientific study, it may be hard to determine which scientific conclusions are ‘false’ at a given point in time.” He went on to describe the term “misinformation” as “unconstitutionally vague.”

Heine: Arizona’s Democrat Secretary of State Asks Democrat AG to Investigate Republican Kari Lake For Campaign Violations

Arizona’s Democrat Secretary of State Adrian Fontes has asked Democrat Attorney General Kris Mayes to investigate Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake over potential campaign violations involving the disclosure of voter signatures. Lake is accused of committing a class 6 felony, which can result in fines, probation or a prison sentence from four months to 5 3/4 years. Lake lost her bid for governor in 2022 to then-Democrat Secretary of State Katie Hobbs amid blatant and widespread voting machine issues that caused long lines and delays in Maricopa County on Election Day. Lake, who lost by approximately 17,000 votes, did not concede, and promptly filed a lawsuit challenging the botched 2022 election. […] While awaiting a ruling from the Arizona Court of Appeals, Lake last week provided evidence of fraud in a Twitter post that included 16 photocopies of voters’ mismatched ballot signatures. “Today’s Senate Testimony CONFIRMS nearly 40,000 ballots illegally counted (10% of the signatures reviewed),” Lake tweeted. “I think all the ‘Election Deniers’ out there deserve an apology.” […] Busch testified that “tabulators failed at 235 times the Election Assistance Commission’s regulated failure rates.” […] During her massive Save Arizona rally on Sunday, Lake said that at a minimum of 140,000 fraudulent mail-in ballots with bad signatures were counted. […] When he was the Maricopa County Recorder in 2018, Fontes was accused of destroying evidence to cover up “voting irregularities” to help then-Democrat, now-Independent Kyrsten Sinema beat Republican Martha McSally. Years earlier, Fontes represented Manuel Celis-Acosta following his 2011 arrest in corrupt Obama-era Operation Fast and Furious investigation, in which federal officers encouraged gun stores to sell firearms to Mexican drug cartels. Conference member Mo Tianquan secured the purchase after a bidding war with another Chinese conglomerate. Two years later, a Chinese education conglomerate purchased the Florida Preparatory Academy as part of its plan to create “a global educational alliance system.” […] Rep. Michael Waltz (R., Fla.), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, says Chinese ownership of these schools could pose a national security threat.

Tapping a single leader “unifies and elevates the program while removing redundancies, enabling the agency to oversee human food in a more effective and efficient way,” Califf said.

Baimadajie Angwang, 33, an ethnic Tibetan and naturalized U.S. citizen, was arrested in 2020 for acting as an agent of Beijing, for wire fraud, making false statements, and obstructing an official proceeding. Prosecutors charge that Angwang reported on Chinese citizens, cultivated intelligence sources, and connected Chinese officials with senior contacts in the New York Police Department. The U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of New York recently filed a motion asking federal Judge Eric R. Komitee, a Trump nominee, to dismiss the indictment due to “additional information.” The Eastern District did not reveal the information or explain its relevance to the case. The move illuminates official Biden policy toward Chinese espionage in the United States.

Cynthia Rivers and her husband decided that their kids, ages seven and nine, deserved a long-promised treat for cleaning their rooms: the right to walk to Dunkin’ Donuts by themselves. Peachy Keenan’s point about illegal drugs being the country’s biggest foreign import appears, while hard to believe, to be accurate. How did it get to a point where the U.S. now imports more illegal drugs than cars, computers, and crude petroleum combined?

State Sen. Megan Hunt says her amendment, which would ban children under 19 years of age from attending a “religious indoctrination camp,” is intended to kill the underlying bill, LB 371, a measure put forward by Republicans to ban minors from attending drag performances. The text of the amendment asserts there is a “well-documented history of indoctrination and sexual abuse perpetrated by religious leaders and clergy people upon children.” It is a tongue-in-cheek response to Republicans who have said children should not be exposed to explicit sexual content at drag shows. […] It defines a “religious indoctrination camp” as “a camp, vacation Bible study, retreat, lock-in, or convention held by a church, youth group, or religious organization for the purpose of indoctrinating children with a specific set of religious beliefs.” The text mimics the underlying bill, LB 371, which Slama said “keeps kids from attending hyper-sexualized events.”

Farrell: California reparations panel calls for ten prisons to be CLOSED, prisoners to be paid ‘fair wage’ and given the right to vote

At their meeting in San Diego this weekend, where expert members of the public testified about various issues including prison reform, the panel preliminary approved recommending that ten prisons be shuddered while debating what should be done with the sites. California state prisons house some of the most notorious prisoners in the country, including serial killers and lifelong gang members. The savings made from closing the prisons will be used to fund the work of the new government agency being set up to dispense the reparations, the California American Freedman Affairs Agency. The group has recommended more cushy treatment for current inmates, that includes eliminating certain types of punishment and paying them more money for work done while incarcerated. [NOTE: California Democrats have to know that the issue of reparations is a nonstarter. Perhaps this is an attempt by the party to incite a race war?]
