Eastman: Biden EPA Pushing New Power Plant Standards, Risking Already Strained Electric Grid

The eco-activists at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have gone hog-wild, in terms of issuing new rules that will reduce the quality of life in this nation, while raising the price of energy that is the life’s blood of this country’s economy. The latest news is that the EPA is slated to issue new rules that will require power plants to install technology to capture carbon emissions to meet the goal of decarbonizing the power sector in 12 years. If implemented, the Environmental Protection Agency would set limits so stringent that fossil-fuel-burning power plants probably would have to use technology to capture their carbon dioxide emissions from their smokestacks or switch to other fuels to comply, according to the three people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a plan that is not yet public. The proposal is still under final analysis at the White House and could change before the EPA completes and announces it.

Unfortunately, that scenario is exactly what America got this past weekend when ABC’s Martha Raddatz held a discussion with a Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence attorney on “stand your ground” laws, in which the so-called expert blatantly lied on the air claiming these statutes and precedents “upend centuries of common law on self-defense and allow people to carry guns outside of the home…” This is utter nonsense. Instead, while she briefly alluded to it on air, this so-called “expert on state gun laws” clearly is a supporter of the ludicrous “duty to retreat” laws that many leftist states still maintain. Despite the recent reinforcement of the inherent right to self-defense in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen, these statutes, as their names suggest, require citizens, when faced with a seemingly life-threatening situation, to determine whether they can refrain from the use of deadly force by essentially running away. Further, a citizen who uses deadly force — even when threatened — could lose a claim to self-defense and potentially be charged with a crime, up to and including homicide, if it’s determined that a “retreat” should have been made.

Seven U.S. Republican Senators nationwide demanded answers from the Biden Administration on Monday, asking if officials were aware of the United Nations-backed report suggesting global leaders normalize pedophilia by allowing children to legally decide on engaging in sexual activities with adults.

“The U.N.’s effort to normalize sex with minor children is barbaric,” Sen. Lawyers for former stripper Lunden Roberts asked an Arkansas court Friday to jail the first son for failing to fork over his financial records as required in her lawsuit over support payments for their 4-year-old unacknowledged daughter, Navy. Roberts claims Hunter, 53, is “flaunting the dignity and authority of the court” by failing to provide “one single item or word [of] discovery” and says, “This court should incarcerate the defendant in the Cleburne County Detention Center until he complies with this court’s orders.”

Roberts, 32, had to get a court-ordered paternity test to prove Navy was Hunter’s, and last year Hunter applied to have his monthly support payments reduced.

Whatever one makes of Fox’s 2020 election coverage, this settlement is a disappointment and a danger. The present regime of press freedom took shape in the 1960s and ’70s with the Supreme Court’s ruling in New York Times v. Sullivan (1964), The Washington Post’s mythic role in breaking open Watergate after 1972, various “sunshine” laws, and a vague set of Boomer ideals. The media were to be protected from any kind of government intimidation. Politicians had to understand they were in a rough business. They would be called names. Journalists had a right to go overboard. They even had a right to be wrong, as long as they didn’t do so with a “reckless disregard for the truth.” The penalty for bad reporting would be paid in the currency of reputation. But the present generation is more preoccupied with “misinformation” and, therefore, more focused on protecting society from the media. Since the First Amendment forbids legislating against press freedoms, the courtroom is the most promising venue for rolling them back. Fox is only the first company to be swept up in this reaction.

When clowns came on the scene in Ancient Greece. their job was to make people laugh with the “familiar comic character of pantomime and circus, known by distinctive makeup and costume, ludicrous antics, and buffoonery, whose purpose is to induce hearty laughter,” according to the Encyclopedia Britannica. Clowns are not to be confused with court jesters or drag queens, for that matter. As you are doubtless aware, the craft of clowning was dealt two near-fatal blows when investigators discovered that rapist and serial killer John Wayne Gacy dressed up as a clown to befriend and entice young men into his serial killer lair in Chicago in the 1970s. Autogynephilia, or a man’s condition of being sexually aroused by the concept of himself as a woman, is a driving force behind male-to-female transgenderism, according to some experts, but activists and a leading transgender medical group have been reluctant to acknowledge the issue. The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), the leading transgender medical organization, removed the term from its standards of care between 1998 and 2001, and proponents of the transgender movement have decried the term as inaccurate and stigmatizing.

The crusade has been urged on by social and corporate media and their celebrity representatives, endorsed by a shockingly complicit medical establishment, promoted by educators, advanced by judges, and applauded by politicians at the highest levels. (“Incredibly brave transgender children,” is President Biden’s characterization.) Whether they realize it or not, supporters are showing a willful ignorance about child nature and endorsing views completely at odds with child psychology and legal and cultural traditions. In the process, they are undermining children’s understanding of, and parental confidence in, the most basic human realities.

Green: Trans Rights Means No Rights at All

“Trans rights” is nothing but the Left’s most recent assault on our individual rights, with sufferers of gender dysphoria used (and abused) as the shiny objects of their attention. Using the cause of “queer rights” to cover for the normalization of pedophilia and grooming is a separate but related issue that I’ll delve into in a future column. The beauty of natural rights is that they recognize our own liberties and responsibilities but place no burden upon one another. My freedom of speech doesn’t compel you to listen. Your liberty to keep and bear arms doesn’t put my law-abiding self in any danger. Our legal rights, as defined by the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th amendments to the Constitution, place serious burdens on the government — due process, speedy trials, etc. — but none on each of us. The fiction of “trans rights” places a tremendous burden on the vast majority of people whose brains and bodies are in sync.

A Rock Springs couple said their school district helped their daughter socially transition to a boy behind their backs and has coerced teachers into secretly affirming transgender students. The couple is suing the district and its top administrators.Sean and Ashley Willey filed a civil rights lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for Wyoming Thursday, against: The Sweetwater County School District No. 1 board of trustees . . . […] The Willeys as parents assert three civil challenges against the district and administrators: that the defendants took away the Willeys’ parental and due process rights, familial privacy rights, and religious rights. […] The lawsuit complaint accuses the district and administrators of calling the Willeys’ then-15-year-old daughter by a boy’s name and he/him pronouns behind the Willeys’ backs, and actively hiding the girl’s transition from her parents. The girl has a history of trauma and has been diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) and post-traumatic stress disorder. She also has a 504 plan, or educational plan to accommodate her conditions, which requires the school to involve her parents in her mental health treatment. The Willeys have taken the girl to see a counselor for years, the complaint states.

St. Thomas More Priory: News on the Dating of the First Gospel

The Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW) has just announced the discovery of a fragment of the Gospel according to St. Matthew presented as the oldest version of a New Testament passage known to date. The traditional hypothesis of an early dating of the first of the Gospels is thus confirmed. To understand this discovery, it is necessary to go back about 1,000 years. Copyist monks from the Holy Land erased a parchment by scraping it in order to reuse it. This so-called palimpsest technique is explained by the scarcity, and therefore the high price, of materials needed for writing. Several centuries later, the palimpsest in question became the property of the Holy See, which kept it in the Vatican Apostolic Library. It was there that the researcher Grigory Kessel found it and began trying to recover the texts scraped off by the monks. The techniquem, using ultraviolet photography, allows the OeAW researcher to unlock the secrets of the parchment which in fact contains two fragments of the Gospel of St. Matthew written in Old Syriac, and which the scientist dates from the 3rd and 6th centuries. This is a major discovery, as it would be the oldest known version of a New Testament text, as reported by the OeAW on April 6, 2023.

A report from MJBizDaily showed Americans spent roughly $30 billion on legal marijuana in 2022 while only spending around $20 billion on chocolate. The Palestinian targeted the popular Mahane Yehuda open-air market. Of those injured, the most serious was a 70-year-old man who remains in critical condition, according to police. Witnesses say the attacker attempted to put his car in reverse after plowing through the crowd, which is when the bystander shot him. Israeli officials identified the attacker as Hatem Nejima, 39, a married father of five who lives in East Jerusalem. Officials said Nejima “deliberately hit several pedestrians, some of whom were crossing the road.”
