But of course, that was meaningless result: who cares whether you contract a disease with a >99.9% survival rate? The question the Cleveland Clinic should have asked is, “What is the All-Cause-Mortality-Rate as a function of the number of Injections?”. That is the only metric one should look at (e.g., Vioxx). The U.K. ONS data show that the mortality rate of those injected is about a factor of 2 higher than those not injected, regardless of age. I conjecture we would see a similar result in the U.S. if these data were made available. he prestigious New England Journal of Medicine in April published an article openly championing segregation as a way for medical students to learn more effectively. Unsurprisingly, the article is steeped in incredible amounts of racism. Seven academics from the University of California at Berkeley and UC San Francisco begin with the premise that traditional medical education is “systemically racist.” They propose to split up medical students into what they call “racial affinity group caucuses,” where would-be doctors can discuss what they have been learning in their antiracism classes with other people who share their skin color. The euphemism may be “racial affinity group caucusing,” but the authors, in fact, are really advocating segregation. The authors demonize white people and infantilize people of every other race. And, as in most diversity, equity, and inclusion literature, they reduce human beings to monolithic groups of “oppressors” versus “oppressed” based solely on race. Everything is boiled down to power dynamics.

Kew: California Legislature Proposes Unemployment Benefit for Illegal Aliens

In merely the latest absurd and unaffordable proposal to come out of the Democrat-controlled state of California, the state legislature is considering offering unemployment benefits to illegal aliens regardless of their immigration status. State Senator Maria Elena Durazo this week put forward Senate Bill 277, which seeks to provide income assistance to unemployed individuals known as “excluded workers” who are unable to qualify for regular state or federal unemployment insurance benefits due to their status as illegal immigrants. Implementation of the program would be handed over to the Employment Development Department, and its execution would be dependent on the legislature allocating adequate funds for its implementation.

Davis: North Carolina Lawmakers Pass 12-Week Abortion Ban, $160 Million In Funding For Women And Children

In another post-Dobbs salvo, North Carolina legislators have kept their promise to tighten abortion restrictions in the Old North State. The “Care for Women, Children, and Families Act,” voted into law on Tuesday, May 16 after hours of contentious debate, repeals and replaces the existing North Carolina abortion law, which allowed abortions up to 20 weeks. Under the new legislation, abortions will be unrestricted for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. The law also allows abortions in cases of rape and incest up to 20 weeks and in cases of a “life-limiting anomaly” for the baby up to 24 weeks. In cases of “medical emergency,” statutory language that has remained unaltered from the previous law, abortion will be permitted at any time.The bill also provides for $160 million in funding for women’s and children’s needs, from statewide parental leave policies to childcare stipends and safe surrender for children given up for adoption

At least four Democrats in Congress have sponsored millions of dollars in federal spending projects for organizations that employed their spouses over the last two years, according to a new report.

Sen. Tim Kaine and Reps. Pete Aguilar, Jason Crow, and Mike Thompson – all Democrats – helped steer the money through earmarks, a political term for provisions that members of Congress write into law directing federal funds to specific local projects in their states and districts, The Messenger reported. The findings reportedly came from more than 1,000 pages of congressional appropriations records as part of an analysis comparing congressional records that identify sponsors of earmarks with the personal financial disclosure forms filed by lawmakers. The financial disclosure forms require lawmakers to identify sources of income for themselves and their spouses.

Podhoretz: REVIEW: ‘BlackBerry’

The new film BlackBerry, a docudrama about the development and the destruction of the titular device, is many things, almost all of them wonderful. It’s a superb portrait of the clash between entrepreneurship and corporate gamesmanship—and it’s so good and so original in its handling of this tricky topic that by the end, it deserves consideration as one of the best movies ever made about business (not that there’s a lot of competition in this category). It’s also a portrait of the clash between the natty marketing guys and the brilliant slob idea men, making it one of the most delightful such depictions since Revenge of the Nerds back in 1984. BlackBerry is set in Waterloo, Ontario, which is where the hardscrabble little company called Research in Motion invented the device in 1996. And Canada is a central character in BlackBerry even though there’s no didactic material about the wonders of the Great White North. The extraordinary cowriter/director/costar of this remarkable film, Matt Johnson, offers us an indelible rendering of his country’s bifurcated nature—how its potential greatness is often subsumed in a modesty that seems to rise from an existential sense of inferiority in relation to the behemoth south of its border.
