Rowley III and James M. During a Monday meeting with House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY), the FBI refused once again to turn over an FD-1023 (a report from an informant) that allegedly details a bribery scheme between then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national. Comer issued a subpoena for this document three weeks ago. In a May 3 letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), the ranking member on the Senate Budget Committee and Comer wrote that an FBI whistleblower had informed Grassley about an unclassified FD-1023 document in the bureau’s possession that “describes an alleged criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national relating to the exchange of money for policy decisions.”

And plaintiff Ernest Ramirez says his 16-year-old son died of cardiac arrest five days after the boy’s first Pfizer dose. […] The censorship goes beyond social media, with GoFundMe shutting down Ramirez’s fundraising page and keeping the money he already raised to travel to Washington, D.C. to speak about his son’s death, he claims. […] Many defendants appear in both suits, including President Biden and White House officials Rob Flaherty, Karine Jean-Pierre, Clark Humphrey and Courtney Rowe, Surgeon General Vivek Murthy and his adviser, Eric Waldo, CDC communications official Carol Crawford and both the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and its director Jen Easterly. Transplant surgeons at Duke University Hospital told her parents that Yulia could not stay on the transplant list if she did not have a Covid shot, even though she had already had Covid. […] Now, another North Carolina hospital has stepped up, and Yulia will receive a new kidney from a live donor tomorrow. […] The family does not know the identity of the donor . . . […] Meanwhile, the North Carolina legislature is considering “Yulia’s Law,” which would bar transplant discrimination on the basis of Covid vaccination status. In a pair of 9-0 decisions this month, the justices tossed convictions against two men indicted by the Southern District of New York under U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, who made himself a media darling for his campaigns against Wall Street and Albany and ostentatious defiance of the Trump White House. Last term, the justices ruled for two doctors convicted under the Controlled Substances Act for allegedly writing bad prescriptions because prosecutors watered down the law’s intent requirement. Smith: House follows Senate in voting for resolution to halt tougher EPA vehicle emission standards

Optum PBM (pharmacy benefits management) is one of the three PBM companies that control 79 percent of pharmaceutical distribution in the U.S. Optum recently reported a 25 percent increase in its revenue growth. […] Put simply, PBMs make their profits by limiting patients’ access to the cheapest drugs. PBMs save money for third party payors, i.e., health plans or insurers, not patients. Worse, PBMs practice medicine without a license. By suppling limited lists of authorized drugs, PBMs restrict what drugs doctors can prescribe for their patients. If a physician believes a drug not on the PBM “menu” is best for a specific patient, the health plan won’t pay for that prescription. Given the exorbitant prices of modern drugs, most patients cannot pay out of pocket, and thus PBMs deny patients the best drugs for them. When Optum posts record profits, health plans, not patients, benefit financially. Patients do get drugs, just not the ones their doctors would choose for them.
