The study is a roadmap on “how to censor people using secret methods so that they wouldn’t know they’re being censored, so that it wouldn’t generate an outrage cycle, and so that it’d be more palatable for the tech platforms who wouldn’t get blowback because people wouldn’t know they’re being censored,” Mike Benz, a former State Department diplomat specializing in U.S. foreign policy on international communications and information technology matters told the “Just the News, No Noise” television show Monday night.

What should happen… when it is virtually impossible for the defendant to get an impartial jury in that state or district?
The prosecution of Donald Trump for the events around January 6, 2021 would seem to call for a change of venue. The District of Columbia is the most extreme Democratic district in the country. Approximately 95% of the potential jurors register and vote Democrat. Whereas approximately 5% voted for Trump. Furthermore, the anger against Trump is understandable in light of the fact that the events of January 6th directly involved many citizens of the district. Moreover, the judge randomly selected to preside over this case has a long history of bias against Trump and his supporters, and her law firm has a long history of conflicts and corruption.
It is imperative, therefore, that in a case where the incumbent president has urged his Attorney General to pursue his political opponent aggressively, that all efforts must be made to ensure fairness. Prosecutors must lean over backwards to persuade the public that partisan considerations played absolutely no role in the decision to indict. Agreeing to a change of venue and judge would go a long way toward seeing that justice is done.

The Biden administration’s top energy official held multiple talks with a Chinese Communist Party official linked to an oil company counting investment from Hunter Biden’s private equity firm just days before the U.S. moved to release oil from its strategic reserve in 2021. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm controversially spoke with China National Energy Administration chairman Zhang Jianhua one-on-one multiple times in meetings that had not previously been reported, according to internal Energy Department calendars obtained by Fox News. Granholm and her Chinese Communist Party counterpart met on November 19th and 21st, 2021, just days before the White House announced its decision to release oil from the strategic reserve on November 23rd. The story, which has already called into question the Chinese Communist Party’s continued influence over the Biden administration, also has a link to President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter. The first son has financial ties to the phone call participant through his previous employer, Sinopec.

A new CNN poll indicates that just 37% of Americans give President Joe Biden a positive approval rating for his handling of the economy. For inflation, his approval rating slips to only 30%. Democrats and media cheerleaders are perplexed about why Americans are unhappy about the economy. They claim the economy has stabilized and the inflation rate has been significantly lowered since the record was established in 2022. […] Incredibly, some Democrats believe that Americans are not aware of the true successes of the Biden administration, while others claim that Biden does not boast enough of his accomplishments. What baloney! There are no significant economic accomplishments of this administration and Americans are very aware of the damage that Biden and his policies have caused.

In 2023, grocery prices increased 5.8%, which is why 71% of Americans are changing their spending habits according to the CNN poll. Although the national average price for a gallon of gasoline has fallen from the all-time high of $5.02 in June of 2022, there is still pain at the pump for Americans. When President Donald Trump left office in January of 2021, the nation average price for a gallon of gasoline was only $2.38 per gallon. Today, the national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.83, an increase of 61% since the last day of the Trump administration. No wonder 48% of the CNN poll respondents indicated that they drive significantly less today and 50% have either cancelled or changed their vacation plans.

[…] Board president Sonja Shaw was elected after she grew angry over Newsom and the schools’ mask mandate and other COVID-19 regulations. Ohio’s special election on August 8 puts the Ohio General Assembly’s proposed “State Issue 1” on the ballot. A consequential change, Issue 1 raises the threshold from a majority vote (50+1) to 60 percent. It also requires petitioners to gather signatures from voters in all 88 counties to fully represent the will of the people. Currently, petitioners need only collect signatures from 44 counties. The full text of Issue 1, explanations, and the arguments surrounding it that were certified by the Ohio Ballot Board can be found here. Ohio’s State Constitution is vulnerable to change from outside interests because the only thing needed to amend it is to collect petitions and put them on the statewide ballot. According to its proponents, a “Yes” on Issue 1 would make the ability to amend the Ohio Constitution more representative of the will of its people. Issue 1 brings Ohio’s state constitution in line with most other states and the federal Constitution. National Review states, “In the 50 states, 32 do not allow outside groups to propose constitutional amendments, and half of the remaining 18 have greater requirements than a single simple-majority vote.” […] . . . “[r]adical activists have figured out a way to bypass the legislative process and insert their extreme agenda directly in our state constitution. As I write this, special interests are advancing citizen-initiated constitutional amendments to shut out parents from their child’s health care, remove our right to self-defense, force struggling small businesses to pay job-killing mandatory wages, and even roll back many of the election-integrity safeguards I’ve fought for as Ohio’s chief elections officer.”

A University of Kentucky clinic is admitting it performed gender reassignment surgeries on minors before state lawmakers passed a ban on those procedures—legislation that Democratic governor Andy Beshear vetoed because he said the surgeries “don’t happen in Kentucky.” In a March 2 letter obtained by the Washington Free Beacon, the university’s Transform Health clinic said it has “in recent years performed a small number of non-genital gender reassignment surgeries on minors, such as mastectomies.” Gender reassignment mastectomies, or so-called top surgeries, remove a biological female’s healthy breast tissue to create “a more masculine-looking chest.” The University of Kentucky confirmed the letter’s accuracy, telling the Free Beacon that it has performed “non-genital gender reassignment surgeries” on patients as young as 16.

Lamb: Minnesota babies who survive abortions no longer entitled to lifesaving medical care

The new law removed a requirement that abortion reporting forms include information on “whether the abortion resulted in a born alive infant,” “any medical actions taken to preserve the life of the born alive infant,” “whether the born alive infant survived” and “the status of the born alive infant, should the infant survive.” The law also changes the “reasonable measures” requirement to say that “medical personnel” should provide “care for the infant who is born alive.” There is no longer a requirement to “preserve the life and health of the born alive infant.”

Miller: Oregon county lost $1 billion in 2020 as residents fled crime, homelessness: ‘It’s like Portland died’

Portland lost 6th-most residents in United States over past year. The data showed that higher earners were more likely to leave since their jobs could be done remotely during coronavirus shutdowns, and the average income of people leaving was 14% higher than people who left the year before. Before 2020, Portland had experienced 15 consecutive years of growth, Fox 12 Oregon reported. The 2020 exodus came at the same time that crime in Portland began spiking and the city broke its homicide record in 2021 and then again in 2022. In addition, the homeless crisis in Portland has continued to spiral out of control and several Portland business owners have sounded the alarm about the issue and the crime associated with it.

There is a fascinating passage in Rising Star, David Garrow’s comprehensive biography of Barack Obama’s early years, in which the historian examines Obama’s account in Dreams from My Father of his breakup with his longtime Chicago girlfriend, Sheila Miyoshi Jager. In Dreams, Obama describes a passionate disagreement following a play by African American playwright August Wilson, in which the young protagonist defends his incipient embrace of Black racial consciousness against his girlfriend’s white-identified liberal universalism. As readers, we know that the stakes of this decision would become more than simply personal: The Black American man that Obama wills into being in this scene would go on to marry a Black woman from the South Side of Chicago named Michelle Robinson and, after a meteoric rise, win election as the first Black president of the United States. Yet what Garrow documented, after tracking down and interviewing Sheila Miyoshi Jager, was an explosive fight over a very different subject

“He’s not normal—as in not a normal politician or a normal human being.” That was David Garrow, author of the 1460-page Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama, in a recent rambling interview with Tablet’s David Samuels headlined, “The Obama Factor.” Barack Obama is the author of Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance, published in 1995. On page 537 of Rising Star, David Garrow writes: “Dreams from My Father was not a memoir or an autobiography; it was instead, in multitudinous ways, without any question a work of historical fiction. It featured many true-to-life figures and a bevy of accurately described events that indeed had occurred, but it employed the techniques and literary license of a novel, and its most important composite character was the narrator himself.” (emphasis original) “He wants people to believe his story,” said Garrow, author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Bearing the Cross. “For me to conclude that Dreams from My Father was historical fiction—oh God, did that infuriate him.” Samuels, who writes for Harpers, the Atlantic and New York Times Magazine, countered that “the pose of being a writer is actually one that he prefers in many ways to being a politician.” “Oh God, yes. Yes, yes, yes,” said Garrow. “He doesn’t want the writerliness challenged. It’s my story and I’m sticking to it. The book [Dreams] is so fictionalized.” And it “completely omits women. I’ve always thought that there’d eventually be a feminist critique of Obama because his mother and all the girlfriends—they’re not there. They don’t exist.” As Garrow reveals, the Dreams author wrote to Alex McNear, his girlfriend at Occidental College, “about how he repeatedly fantasizes about making love to men.” But there’s more to the man who is “not normal,” such as the question of his provenance.

New York Mayor Eric Adams announced a plan Monday to house as many as 2,000 migrants on an island in the East River where a migrant center was set up last year and then taken down weeks later. She wants to clear her desk, finish the work she set out to achieve when she took over as Supreme Court head in late 2017 and let the chips fall where they may. Shortly before Hayut assumed office, she set out her judicial vision in an address before the Bar Association. The central challenge facing the court, she declared, was surmounting the rule of law. Comparing herself and her colleagues to God, she bloviated: “There’s a disadvantage that we flesh and blood judges have in comparison to the Creator of the Universe. Even in the situations where we understand fairly quickly the dilemma that brought the petitioners before us, it often happens that the solution we view as just and proper isn’t possible under the practice and requirements of law. These situations in my view are among the most difficult and complex ones that we as judges are called upon to contend with.”

I have long said that when the costs of fossil fuel suppression policies start to hit home to average consumers, the whole climate alarm movement will become politically toxic, and will fade away. So far in the U.S. we haven’t seen much movement in this direction. The red states are mostly alert to the issue of the costs of Net Zero, and want no part of fossil fuel suppression. At the federal level, the misnamed “Inflation Reduction Act” passes out hundreds of billions of dollars worth of handouts and subsidies to hide the cost of fossil fuel suppression from the public. It could be several more years before blue state voters figure out how they are getting fleeced. But in Europe, and particularly in the UK, there are serious signs of shifting political winds. The Global Warming Policy Foundation is the UK’s leading think tank opposing Net Zero energy policies; and as a board member of its U.S. affiliate American Friends of the GWPF, I have a ringside seat to observe the shift.
