We are close to the time when AI will be triggered to help control the content of the internet under the guise of national security. Everything will change. Every route of online traffic including Internet Service Providers (ISP’s) to filters and rerouting on Domain Name Systems (DNS), to the Internet Protocol (IP) itself will be subject to change in the form of background shadow banning. If the DHS partnership is successful, you will not initially notice – much like a shadow banned platform user doesn’t notice their new defined status. The shift will become more obvious over time. One odd outcome will be a regional targeting system. Depending on where you are in the USA, your online experience will be different. There will also be enhancements to your internet travel based on your profile. The School Board had a secret policy (that may be at odds with state policy) that allowed boys to use girls’ restrooms if they identified as transgender. Angela Allen, the board’s vice chairwoman, asked a question of her followers on Facebook: “As a Goochland School Board member, effectively representing your interests is my duty. This week I learned that [Goochland County Public School] students are allowed to use restrooms different from their biological sex. Is this our community’s expectation?” For this, she was censured by the Board, and the censure was incredibly harsh. So harsh, in fact, that Allen considers it defamatory. […] In my experience school boards are elected on the backs of teachers’ union support, almost guaranteeing a left-leaning tilt regardless of the electorate’s inclinations. Unfortunately, most people don’t vote in these elections, mostly due to ignorance, while teachers will cast nearly unanimous votes for the union-backed candidates. It takes an awful lot of controversy to break into the public consciousness. Given that fact, it is a minor miracle that even one sane person got elected to the board, and another minor miracle that she was brave enough to speak up.

To get a handle on the indictment and to stay current with the various developments, it is helpful to put the charges into one of six buckets, starting with the biggest one: the alleged RICO conspiracy. Bucket 1: RICO The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) count runs some 70 pages and says all 19 defendants, “while associated with an enterprise, unlawfully conspired and endeavored to conduct and participate in, directly and indirectly, such enterprise through a pattern of racketeering activity.” The indictment next defines the “enterprise” as “a group of individuals associated in fact,” who “had connections and relationships with one another” and “functioned as a continuing unit for a common purpose of achieving the objectives of the enterprise,” which Willis maintains was “to unlawfully change the outcome of the election in favor of Trump.” There are several problems with the RICO count, most fundamentally, . . . Bucket 2: Alternate Electors The second-biggest bucket concerns the counts related to the naming of alternative Trump electors. The crimes alleged here range from soliciting individuals to violate their oaths of office, to conspiring to file false statements or documents, to forgery. Counts 2, 6, 8-19, 23, and 37 alleged these and other crimes against various defendants all arising out of Republicans appointing an alternative slate of Trump electors who would vote for Trump in the event he prevailed in his then-pending Georgia lawsuit. While the legacy media continue to frame these individuals as “fake electors,” as I’ve previously detailed, that is fake news. Rather, legal precedent indicates that alternative electors should be named to protect a candidate challenging the outcome of an election, as Trump was in Georgia and elsewhere. That is precisely what Democrats did in Hawaii in 1960 when Richard Nixon had been declared the victor in the state, but John F. Kennedy’s court contest remained viable. As a matter of law, these counts should all be dismissed because Republicans naming alternate electors was not a crime — no matter how much the press wants you to believe otherwise.

Other serious abnormalities arose that, in a normal political climate, would have been cause for concern about overall election integrity. The Chinese government counts 531 foreign-funded R&D centers in Shanghai alone. US companies spent $8.2 billion on R&D in China in 2019. A visit to Huawei’s 2,000-acre campus in Shenzhen helps make sense of this cognitive dissonance, in which corporate America makes enormous bets on IP in a country that the FBI claims is stealing IP from them. The simple answer is that Chinese R&D is very good and getting better fast. More critically, Chinese IP theft isn’t simply a matter of this or that technological advancement. It’s much deeper and broader than that: it’s about claiming and replicating the source of innovation. China is engaged in what might be termed the boldest act of IP theft in world history, or to borrow a Woke expression, the most egregious act of cultural appropriation ever. It is “stealing” Western high culture.

Lehman: How to Think about the Drug Crisis

Almost nobody is taking America’s drug crisis seriously. To be sure, the ever-mounting deaths attract headlines. They get a mention in the State of the Union, or on the campaign trail. But based on the outcomes, policymakers appear to have more or less given up. Some numbers put the problem in perspective. After Covid-19, drugs are now the leading driver of America’s steadily declining life expectancy. A reported 111,219 Americans died from a drug overdose in 2021. That figure has risen more or less unabated, and at an increasing pace, since the early 1990s. Back in 2011, 43,544 Americans died from a drug overdose — less than half the 2021 figure. Ten years earlier, in 2001, it was 21,705 — less than half as many again. And the problem keeps getting worse: The 2021 figure is nearly 50% higher than it was in 2019.

[…] This move to ban a popular, populist group isn’t about preserving “democracy,” it’s about suppressing popularity.
