And why did Manuel refuse to release the water?

That request went to M. Kaleo Manuel, Deputy Director of Hawaii’s Commission on Water Resource Management, and he delayed approval of that water for five hours – five hours in which the once-contained fire exploded. By the time the approval was received, workers were unable to reach the siphon release so that the water could be diverted. Now we’re learning that Manuel, an Obama Foundation Leader for the Asia Pacific Region, is a climate change activist and DEI devotee who’s said, “Like, we can share [water], but it requires true conversations about equity.”

Wyoming’s leading election official is sounding the alarm about nefarious actors’ attempts to use private money to influence election administration throughout the state. “As Wyoming’s 23 county clerks continue to prepare for the 2024 Election, I am writing to warn and caution against any attempts made by third parties to fund the administration of elections in Wyoming,” Secretary of State Chuck Gray wrote in an Aug. 10 letter to local election officials. In his warning to county clerks, Gray specifically highlighted ongoing efforts by the U.S. Alliance for Election Excellence to use private funds as a means of influencing the electoral process. The Alliance is an $80 million venture funded by left-wing nonprofits to “systematically influence every aspect of election administration” and advance Democrat-backed voting policies in local election offices.

Two people have died in the residence from overdoses during that time. Code enforcement has even cited Arko for not properly maintaining the house he legally can’t access. Accompanying text reports that “Over the past few years, the country has seen a surge of anti-trans rhetoric and legislation – primarily stoked by the Republican party and conservative pundits.” There have been, the text claims, “coded calls for violence.” This broadcast, from award-winning, taxpayer-funded media, disseminates lies about trans extremism. These lies are not victimless, venial sins. These lies are actively damaging the lives of thousands of vulnerable children. These lies have been used to destroy the careers of educators who resist them (example here). These lies have been used to sever the bonds between parent and child. A father has been jailed for resisting these lies. A mother was arrested in front of her children for resisting these lies. Female athletes have lost titles and scholarships. A state task force recommended cash payments for five types of discrimination Black Californians faced. California legislators are expected to consider a plan that would make it the first in the nation to provide reparations for systemic discrimination against Black Americans. Just what those reparations would look like, however, is proving to be a much trickier question. A task force convened by the Legislature’s Democratic supermajority wrapped up two years of work this summer, culminating in more than 1,000 pages of findings that discuss eligibility and compensation in the form of both policy changes and direct payouts. The group considered factors beyond slavery, including housing discrimination, health harms, mass incarceration and excessive policing. It recommended that only residents descended from slaves or from free African Americans who lived in the U.S. prior to 1900 be eligible for reparations. The task of putting those ideas to paper now falls to the lawmakers. So far, few have committed to backing any specific statute, including cash payments. Based on the annual amounts recommended by the report’s authors, a person could receive reparations of more than $1.2 million. Iowa is calling on Congress to prevent California from overregulating the agricultural sector. “California [is] trying to use their market power to change how we farm [and] I think that violates the Constitution,” Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird says. California’s Proposition 12 regulations, implemented in 2022, “require veal calves, breeding pigs, and egg-laying hens to be housed in systems that comply with specific standards for freedom of movement, cage-free design, and specified minimum floor space,” according to the California state government. The U.S. Supreme Court rejected a challenge to Proposition 12 in May, leaving the law in place. Now, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds and 10 other GOP governors have sent a letter to Congress asking lawmakers to protect the “nation’s agricultural interests from states that are working to put onerous and unfounded regulations on livestock producers that will ultimately increase food costs and hurt farming operations.”

That’s more concerning: that a Republican congressman has religious liberty fundamentally backward or that he’s focused on harassing grassroots conservatives while the GOP presidential frontrunner is indicted with the latest of 91 charges? On Tuesday, freshman Rep. Max Miller from Ohio went on X, formerly known as Twitter, to decry a call for “faith in Jesus Christ alone” as “bigoted.” A post from an Ohio activist apparently set him off. “There’s no hope for any of us outside of having faith in Jesus Christ alone,” wrote Lizzie Marbach. Miller, who is Jewish, took offense. “This is one of the most bigoted tweets I have ever seen,” Miller wrote, demanding Marbach “Delete it,” because she had “gone too far.” “Religious freedom in the United States applies to every religion,” he added. It’s quite a comment from a congressman who spoke at the 30-year anniversary of the apparently bigoted Ohio Christian Alliance. Miller didn’t stop there. […] Miller apologized for the post after drawing online rebuke. “I posted something earlier that conveyed a message I did not intend,” Miller wrote three hours after the initial post. “I will not try to hide my mistake or run from it.” Miller’s office, however, did not respond to the Federalist’s repeated inquiries over what the congressman did intend by the Wednesday morning deadline.

The protesters held up signs and chanted “no tent city,” opposing the move by state officials to house illegal immigrants in the new shelter as hotels and homeless shelters in the Big Apple are overrun with thousands of people who illegally entered the country and were bused to New York. The tent city, approved by state leaders, opened Tuesday after being set up in 10 days in the parking lot of a psychiatric facility in Queens, Fox 5 reported.
