The ATF has previously hesitated before pulling a dealer’s license. Gun sellers are helpful to law enforcement in identifying suspicious customers and aiding in investigations into illegal gun selling. The ATF has typically chosen to issue warnings instead of full license revocation. “The gun dealers were our first line of defense against gun trafficking,” retired ATF deputy assistant director Peter Forcelli told WSJ. “Why are we now beating an ally into submission?” […] In one instance, the ATF targeted a part-time gun dealer in a small town in Oklahoma. Russell Fincher told the Second Amendment Foundation’s Investigative Journalism Project that the ATF sent seven SUVs full of armed agents to raid his home after he invited them in. In a previous inspection, the agents had identified traces on several of his guns and a paperwork error. Fincher eventually agreed to give up his FFL while the ATF confiscated an estimated $50,000 worth of firearms. “They have my life in the palm of their hands, and they have very little accountability,” Fincher said. “I’m just trying to make a living and it takes three jobs just to make ends meet. Dealing as little as I have with the ATF, when you ask them a specific question, they’ll tell you it’s a grey area. Well, a grey area can send you to jail. I’m not Hunter Biden. Some of the contracts, which are traceable via the federal government’s spending database, are even scheduled to begin in future months such as September and October. The DOD, for example, gave Hologic Sales and Service LLC a $1.5 million contract beginning on October 1st that’s set to conclude in May of 2024. The federal database reveals the funds are for “Hologic covid testing services in support of the department of pathology at Madigan army medical center, Tacoma, WA 98431. (new delivery order).” […] The unearthed contracts follow the mainstream media hyping an alleged surge in COVID-19 cases across America, which also dovetails with COVID-19 vaccine makers such as Pfizer experiencing a rapid decline in profits.

Hagstrom: Biden admin to renew push for Americans to get COVID-19 boosters

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported an increase in COVID-19 infections across the U.S., though it remains far below levels seen during the pandemic. The Biden administration plans to urge Americans to get booster shots this fall, an administration official told FOX Business’ Edward Lawrence. “We will be encouraging all Americans to get those boosters in addition to flu shots and RSV shots,” the official said. The news comes days after the CDC and World Health Organization (WHO) revealed they are tracking another variant of the virus that causes COVID-19. The newly discovered variant, referred to as BA.2.86, has been designated as a “variant under monitoring” by the WHO “due to the large number of mutations it carries.”

The House Freedom Caucus (HFC) issued a list of demands on Monday, which it characterized as requirements for it to support a continuing resolution. The stopgap spending agreements have become an annual spectacle in Congress, as appropriated funds run out at the end of the fiscal year (Sept. 30) before new appropriations have been determined. The alternative is a government “shutdown,” which Democrats in office and the media manipulate into bad press for fiscally responsible, disobedient Republicans. […] What are these demands by the roughly three dozen stalwart conservative reps in exchange for passing spending resolutions? Let’s take a look. In its introduction to the list, the HFC notes, “As Congress continues to work to pass appropriations bills, we must rein in the reckless inflationary spending, and the out-of-control federal bureaucracy it funds, crushing the American people. We remain committed to restoring the true FY 2022 topline spending level of $1.471 trillion without the use of gimmicks or reallocated rescissions to return the bureaucracy to its pre-COVID size while allowing for adequate defense funding.” That would be great. Of course, it will be hard to wrest back crisis-level spending from establishment politicians, but thank goodness a brave few are willing to try. Jipping: 5th Circuit Slaps Down FDA Again for Illegally Dropping Abortion Pill’s Safety Rules

On Wednesday, for the second time, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit concluded that the Food and Drug Administration violated federal law when it removed safety restrictions for mifepristone, the drug used for a majority of abortions in the United States. But despite the intense focus on the FDA’s decision to remove these restrictions, this case is more about whether the FDA followed the law in doing so. Here’s how we got here. Federal law requires that before a prescription drug may be marketed, the manufacturer must provide “substantial evidence” that it is safe and effective for its intended use under the proposed conditions. The FDA approved mifepristone, under the trademark Mifeprex, in September 2000 not through its normal evaluation process, but under special “accelerated approval” rules for drugs intended to treat “serious or life-threatening illnesses.” It’s still not clear why the FDA used this accelerated process since pregnancy itself is obviously not a life-threatening illness. […] Appeals to the Supreme Court have already been filed and, if the court decides to consider it, this case presents important issues about how federal agencies make decisions that affect the lives of millions. This case is less about the FDA’s decision approving Mifeprex than it is about how the FDA made that decision. It is about ensuring that all government agencies follow the law in making their decisions—something especially important when those decisions affect millions of unborn Americans.

Stephen Miller, a senior Trump advisor, says a second Trump administration would construct more wall on the US-Mexico border, extend the floating barrier on the Rio Grande, and deploy a naval blockade against drug traffickers. Pennock: Commercial airlines in the US racked up staggering 46 ‘close calls’ in last month alone – with one American Airlines flight to Dallas traveling at 500mph forced into abrupt 700ft climb to avoid United plane

There were 46 ‘close calls’ in July, according to reports shared by the Federal Aviation Authority, and airline workers fear it’s only a matter of time before a devastating incident in the US. Recent examples include several cases of aircraft almost colliding during take-off or landing at major US airports. Others include a mid-air near miss between two planes traveling in excess of 500mph. Industry workers have blamed a shortage of air traffic controllers which has forced many in the profession to work mandatory overtime. The demands of the job have left some burned out and even using alcohol and sleeping pills to relieve stress. A shocking 99 percent of air traffic control facilities in the US are understaffed, according to the New York Times, which found 310 out of 313 do not have enough workers. Some, including New York’s regional facility and a Philadelphia tower, are operating at around 60 percent of staff or less.

Currently doctors use a prostate-specific antigen, or PSA, blood test to identify cases, but the quick MRI scan produces far better results, according to the study. Under current guidelines, men with a PSA reading of below 3 nanograms per millilitre would be considered at low risk for prostate cancer and would not be referred for further investigations. But, in the trial, more than half of men who had an abnormality detected by the MRI scan and went on to be diagnosed with serious prostate cancer had a PSA below 3. The study was also the first to measure PSA ‘density’ – a figure based on the PSA level from a blood test compared with the volume of the prostate gland.
