From that power flows certain privileges and indeed executive immunities. Among these privileges are those expressly delineated in the Constitution itself. The impeachment process, for example, as stated in Article II, Sec. 4, requires that for all “high Crimes and Misdemeanors,” the president “shall be removed from Office.” In other words, the Constitution lays out a process by which presidents of the United States are to be prosecuted—through impeachment. The reason impeachment, rather than traditional prosecution (and attendant punishments like incarceration), applies to the president is because of the uniqueness of the office itself. The president exposes himself to outsized publicity, controversy, and risk as a result of his office. Therefore, the punitive measures that uniquely attach to the executive officeholder are consonant with the duties and powers of the office itself. In addition, there is a special constitutional prerogative, one might say, in safeguarding the integrity of the presidential office, no matter the character and fitness of its occupant. Specifically, that would mean not imprisoning the officeholder or former occupants of the office based on alleged criminality done within the officeholder’s official capacities as president. It is for this reason that the Department of Justice has confirmed, “to wound [the President] by a criminal proceeding is to hamstring the operation of the whole governmental apparatus, both in foreign and domestic affairs.” (Memorandum from Robert G. The conference was co-hosted by the Indian government and held in Gandhinagar, India, where the WHO had set up a Global Centre for Traditional Medicine, with help from $250 million from the Indian government. Unfortunately, as we have long lamented, the WHO has long had a penchant for promoting “traditional medicine,” particularly Traditional Chinese Medicine but also Ayurveda and others, as “evidence-based” and worthy of being “integrated” with science-based medicine, and this conference is just one more example of how far down that road the WHO has gone. To get an idea of how this meeting is being described and promoted by its stakeholders, I refer you to a statement by the Indian government released on August 17, the first day of the summit: . . . […] In essence, the WHO has been engaged in an effort to “scientify” (which I define as the effort to make practices based in prescientific mysticism and pseudoscience appear scientific) all of “traditional medicine,” as Mao tried (and, unfortunately, largely succeeded) to scientify TCM in the 1950s and as the Chinese government continues to do to this day. A new study from the PLOS Climate journal has pulled back the curtain on the blatant hypocrisy among wealthy people and their agenda for a green world. It found that in the United States, 40% of the greenhouse gases come from only 10%, the richest 10%, of households. The publication, which calls itself a journal to further understanding of climatic patterns, processes, impacts and solutions, explained, “Binning households into income groups, we estimate the highest earning 30% of households are responsible for about 70% of income-based NE while the lowest earning 70% are responsible for only about 30% NE,” where NE stands for natural emissions.

The Environmental Protection Agency approved a component of boat fuel made from discarded plastic that the agency’s own risk formula determined was so hazardous, everyone exposed to the substance continually over a lifetime would be expected to develop cancer. Current and former EPA scientists said that threat level is unheard of. It is a million times higher than what the agency usually considers acceptable for new chemicals and six times worse than the risk of lung cancer from a lifetime of smoking. Federal law requires the EPA to conduct safety reviews before allowing new chemical products on to the market. If the agency finds that a substance causes unreasonable risk to health or the environment, the EPA is not allowed to approve it without first finding ways to reduce that risk. But the agency did not do that in this case. Instead, . . . Or has something more profound happened to our culture which makes such catastrophic prophesying seem more credible than it otherwise would be? Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response Dawn O’Connell made the announcement, saying the funding is part of the $5 billion program they hope will help the country get ahead of any future changes in COVID-19. “This is an investment in expanding our country’s ability to respond to the future variants that we might see coming out of COVID,” Becerra said. “It’s an investment in better protecting all of our community, including those who are immunocompromised, and who don’t respond well to the existing vaccines.”

Any treatment that proved effective would have invalidated the EUA and negated the liability shield that came with the EUA, protecting the vaccine manufacturers from lawsuits. A week ago, in a lawsuit brought by three doctors against the FDA for its Covid-19 restrictions, DOJ lawyer Ashley Honold told the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit in Louisiana that “FDA explicitly recognizes that doctors do have the authority to prescribe ivermectin to treat Covid.” Really? After three years of bad-mouthing the drug in public service announcements — horse and cow de-wormer, not for humans! — and telling national boards of physicians not to use it, and telling the national organization of pharmacists not to fill prescriptions for it… which resulted in many states officially forbidding its use … which led to gross injustices such as the State of Maine Medical Board’s obtuse and insane persecution of bio-warfare expert and epidemiologist Dr. Meryl Nass (for which Dr. Nass is now suing them) … and to many other state boards revoking the licenses of doctors….

The question of whether the nine are guilty hinges, of course, on one’s answer to Louis C. K.’s question: Does abortion actually end a child’s life? The judge has already signaled her opinion, suggesting the defendants’ behavior constitutes vigilantism imposed onto narratives of their own creation. But the judge’s conclusion, whether true or false, raises more questions. For example, even if one agrees with her that there’s no “third person” in need of defense in abortions — a contention which the defendants fiercely dispute — does the punishment fit the so-called crime? Eleven years is a long time. In previous years, pro-life activists convicted of similar behavior have often received one-, three-, and six-month sentences, avoiding longer sentences on the technicality that they have not blocked entrances to the facilities, which the FACE Act specifically prohibits. Father Fidelis Moscinski, for example, is currently finishing a three-month sentence in Nassau County for entering an abortion facility on Long Island and providing roses and counsel for expectant mothers. By the standard of Moscinski’s current sentence (and the fact that no one’s been seriously injured by the defendants’ actions), 11 years seems extreme. But it’s becoming increasingly clear that through the application of the FACE Act, disproportion and immoderation are par for the course for a DOJ that’s excessively punitive toward pro-life Americans.

The J-20 is only the fourth fifth-generation fighter ever designed. Judicial Watch: Soros-Funded Solidarity Journalism Initiative at Public University Trains Social Justice Reporters

As if the mainstream media were not leftist enough, a nationally ranked public university has launched a race-focused journalism center that trains future reporters to abandon objectivity for social justice in news coverage. It is called the Solidarity Journalism Initiative at the University of Texas at Austin and leftwing billionaire George Soros is among those funding it. The new enterprise is part of the school’s Center for Media Engagement and it aims to help journalists, journalism educators, and journalism students improve coverage of marginalized communities. “Solidarity in journalism means that journalists stand for basic human dignity and against suffering, and is practiced through newsworthiness judgments, sourcing, and framing that center the lived experiences of people subjected to unjust conditions,” according to the university’s Center for Media Engagementwebsite.

The professor who founded the Solidarity Journalism Initiative, Anita Varma, does not even pretend that the media should be objective like some well-known news outlets falsely claim to be.

Except, well… there’s a little problem. MacCallum introduces Chris Lawrence as a “Wisconsin GOP voter” who seemingly supports Ron DeSantis. However, MacCallum fails to mention that Chris Lawrence actually works for the Koch Network, who have recently pledged to spend $70 million to defeat President Trump. Not only has Chris Lawrence worked for the Koch Network for the past 9 years, he is also the Senior Field Director for the Koch group Americans for Prosperity. In essence, Lawrence is a political operative planted in the group by Fox News to support Ron DeSantis and make it appear like he is an innocuous voter. Fox News and Martha MacCallum should be embarrassed, but they won’t be.

Emmons: 1 in 4 Maui children ‘likely’ missing from school as classes resume

As classes resume in Maui, it is likely that 1 in 4 children will be missing as a result of the Lahaina fire that devastated the area. 3,357 students will be relocated to different schools due to damage to the schools they were attending. However, only 400 students from the area that burned have been reenrolled in other public schools. Reuters reports that about 200 students have been signed up for distance learning. The schools in Lahaina, elementary through high school, were home to more than 3,000 students, and it is unclear how many of those students have been relocated, enrolled elsewhere, or are deceased.

Last week, a deadly clash between Christian villagers and a heavily armed group of Hezbollah, whose truck was overturned laden with ammunition in the village of Kahaleh, near Beirut caused the death of a Christian villager and a Hezbollah fighter. It was the deadliest confrontation between the Iranian-proxy Hezbollah and Lebanese, particularly Christians, who oppose it. It was the most serious skirmish between Christians and Hezbollah since the clashes two years ago, around the time of the Beirut Port explosion. It has further rocked the stability of Lebanon already beset by deep political and economic crisis. It prompted the Maronite Christian Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rai, to declare in a sermon on Sunday for all parties “to unite under the banner of the state, especially regarding the use of weapons.” Al-Rai pointed out that “It is not possible to live on one land with more than one state, more than one legitimate army, more than one authority, and more than one sovereignty.” He was clearly referring to Hezbollah’s arsenal.
