[…] On the anniversary of the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, President Biden took to the teleprompter to celebrate the successes of his signature law and of “Bidenomics.” Bidenomics—a pejorative originally coined by the Wall Street Journal—has been repurposed by the regime to mean something like “any good economic news is because of us.” The crux of the prepared remarks was that the Act and Bidenomics are great for America and Americans: “Bidenomics is anchored in what’s always worked best for the country: investing in America, investing in Americans.” At nearly the same moment that the president was touting his administration’s supposed success in creating jobs for Americans, the Justice Department filed a lawsuit to enjoin Elon Musk’s Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) from creating jobs for Americans.

Any informed observer would recognize this move as a deliberate power play: the regime says one thing to deceive its low-information voters while doing another to destroy its opponents. Here, since Elon Musk is a regime opponent, it is irrelevant that SpaceX’s hiring practices are consistent with the president’s supposed economic goals. Musk must be stopped (or at least deterred), even if it means Americans will lose their jobs. In this respect, the suit is a lame attempt to sideline Musk prior to election season. Second, the suit also reveals what the regime (and the ruling class that supports it) think about America and ordinary Americans. They don’t like or care about them.

An expression of that attack was on display this past Aug. 22 in a federal courtroom in Austin, Texas, as both sides set forth their cases in United States v. Abbott: the federal government’s lawsuit against the governor of Texas that seeks to compel him to — there is no other way to phrase it — stop defending Texas.

The agency recently rejected two-thirds of the nearly 100 claims filed, giving a maximum of $2,500 to the approved claims, CBS News reported. “While the EPA regrets the loss, the claim does not meet the standards for coverage under the Federal Tort Claims Act,” the EPA wrote in a letter to one of the individuals who submitted a claim, The Durango Herald, a local outlet, reported. “Accordingly, the claim is denied.”

Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Annette Ziegler accused the court’s liberal majority of staging a “coup,” according to emails obtained by The Associated Press. After gaining a majority August 1 for the first time in 15 years, liberal justices quickly moved to fire state court director Randy Koschnick, drawing immediate backlash, and create a committee responsible for many of the tasks that the chief justice has typically handled, the AP reported. Ziegler wrote in two emails obtained by the AP that the majority’s actions were illegal and amounted to “nothing short of an unprecedented coup.” “You are making a mess of the judiciary, the court and the institution for years to come,” Ziegler wrote to the other justices and the new interim director of state courts, Judge Audrey Skwierawski, per AP. “This must stop. … I have no confidence in the recent hostile takeover and the chaotic effect it has had on the court, staff, and the overall stable functioning of the courts.”

Jarrett: Governors urge Congress to address prescription drug shortages

Eleven governors are asking Congress to adopt policies to ease the nation’s prescription drug shortages. The governors said in a letter sent Tuesday to Congressional leaders that 80% of active ingredients in prescription drugs are made outside of the U.S., mainly in India and China. But little is done to change that, they said. “States are taking what limited action we can to combat prescription drug shortages,” the governors said. “Individual states have expanded our medical caches to increase the diversity of prescription drugs that are stockpiled in case of emergency shortages. To create real change, the states need Washington to take action.” The governors are asking Congress to consider policies that would “increase diversity in the manufacturing of generic medications with regards to both raw materials and final manufacturing,” require the FDA to be more transparent about shortages and supply disruptions and reexamine expiration date guidance to extend medicines shelf lives.

Michael McCaul, Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, is concerned about what appears to be sensitive U.S. government documents ending up in the hands of Iranian regime friendly media. ecently released federal pricing analysis from the U.S. Department of Agriculture projects that food prices will continue to rise through 2024. The USDA pointed to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index released earlier this month, which showed consumer prices overall rose 3.2% in the previous twelve months. Food prices, though rose more quickly at 4.9% during the same time. Now, USDA says that increase will continue. “Food prices are expected to grow more slowly in 2023 than in 2022 but still at above historical-average rates,” USDA said in its analysis. “In 2023, all food prices are predicted to increase 5.9%, with a prediction interval of 5.3% to 6.5%. Food-at-home prices are predicted to increase 5.2%, with a prediction interval of 4.4% to 6.1%. […] There are quite a few disturbing incidents (from a psychological and parenting perspective) portrayed in the video that bolster the argument that children seeking hormone therapy and puberty blockers aren’t capable of giving informed consent – something rational adults already understand. I’ll list a few here, and I’d challenge those who think that even teenagers are capable of making such decisions to watch the video and honestly say that Josie was making an informed, non-manipulated choice. The video (from 7:17-8:36) shows that even before age 9 Josie believed that she was starting puberty and was anxious about this – so anxious that, according to Vanessa, Josie nearly performed “surgery” on herself.

Neff: Trial Date Set In Lake’s Public Records Claim Against Richer And Maricopa County

Judge John Hannah of the Maricopa County Superior Court issued an order last week setting a two-day trial starting Sept. 21 on Lake’s claims that the county defendants violated state law by denying inspection of the 2022 General Election ballot affidavit envelopes. The second day of the trial will occur Sept. 25, according to Hannah. In the meantime, the parties are awaiting Hannah’s ruling on whether Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes can intervene in the case on behalf of Secretary of State Adrian Fontes. “Our lawsuit against Maricopa County seeking to review envelope signatures is moving to trial in September. Judge Hannah has declared that the envelopes are not part of the “voter record,” which destroys the county’s motion to dismiss & their entire defense case,” Lake told the Arizona Daily Independent. “This is a huge victory for election transparency. We’re moving forward. The public records case is not the only legal action involving Lake and Richer that is being closely watched.
