He spoke recently with journalist Emerald Robinson about what transpired. But what has a lot of people intrigued is an X post and video that Investigative journalist Julie Kelly shared recently. Interestingly, Tarrio spent that fateful day in a Baltimore hotel room, far away from the US Cap building. Widburg: The FBI massively erred about civilians stopping active shooters
I’m one of those who believes that what stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Sometimes, that good guy is a police officer, and sometimes, the good guy is a civilian. Leftists claim that the good guys’ contribution is so inconsequential that it doesn’t justify honoring citizens’ Second Amendment to keep and bear arms. New Mexico governor Michelle Grisham certainly agrees with that viewpoint. Leftists look to FBI statistics to support their arguments—so will you be surprised to learn that the FBI’s statistics are wrong? And, as always, that the error works to support leftist ideology and political positions?
The Crime Prevention Research Center (“CPRC”) has done a deep dive into the FBI’s Active Shooting Reports from 2014-2022 and discovered that the reports grossly underestimate the number of times armed civilians have stopped active shootings. The FBI says that civilians stop fewer than 5% of active shooters, while the actual data say that civilians, on average, stopped over 35% of active shooters, with the number going up to 63.5% if you include defensive use of guns outside of “gun-free guns” (which I call “shooting fish in a barrel” zones).

The Biden administration comes after New College and its conservative reforms, alleging specious civil rights violations. Last week, the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights opened an investigation into New College of Florida, where I serve as a trustee, regarding alleged “disability discrimination.”
The investigation was prompted by a complaint by ACLU attorney Jennifer Granick, alleging that the college’s trustees and administrators violated civil rights law by removing “gender neutral” signage from bathrooms, defunding the DEI and gender studies programs, and “misgendering” the former DEI director and a former student, who use “ze/zir” and “they/them” pseudo-pronouns, respectively. According to the complaint, these actions constitute discrimination “based on perceived disability and gender prejudice.” As a tactical matter, the complaint is a clear attempt to disrupt the conservative reforms at New College, which represent a threat to the Left’s hegemony over higher education. Since January, when the new board of trustees was announced, New College has secured record funding from the state legislature, begun a campus-wide renovation, launched a new core curriculum, and recruited the largest incoming class in the college’s history. For left-wing activists, who had previously considered New College as an outpost for social-justice activism, this state of affairs—conservative leaders implementing conservative reforms—was intolerable. They might chant for “democracy” in theory, but, in practice, they are more than willing to use anti-democratic tools to restrict any democratic action that might undermine their cultural power. On Monday, a group of leftist activists decided it was a good idea to stage a protest in Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s office on Capitol Hill. In a video that was posted on social media, activists can be seen occupying McCarthy’s office in the Rayburn House Office Building, taking part in a protest that looks an awful lot like an “insurrection,” according to Democrats. The activists occupied McCarthy’s office to demand the reauthorization of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), which has invested millions of dollars towards combating HIV/AIDS worldwide since its inception in 2003. Funding for the program is due to expire at the end of the month. [NOTE: If should come as no surprise that no one was arrested for trespassing and occupying Speaker McCarthy’s office.]

The PATIENT Act’s philosophy is quite literally, ‘Buy now, pay later’ — this when our country faces staggering levels of debt. If one wants a microcosm of how our nation accumulated nearly $33 trillion of debt, one could do worse than to examine a bill House Republican leaders might try to pass in the coming weeks. The shady budgetary gimmicks included in the legislation show how desperate Congress — meaning members of both parties, including the conservatives — is to spend more money it doesn’t have. ‘Must-Pass’ Legislation: Many people in health care circles consider the legislation, originally called the PATIENT Act, a “must-pass” measure. That title comes because funding for community health centers, which the bill extends, expires in a few weeks at the end of the fiscal year (Sept. 30). But community health center funding in the PATIENT Act is not part of the larger battle over the spending levels Congress will pass for the 12 appropriations bills that fund much of the federal government. The community health center funding is mandatory spending, distinct from the discretionary spending included in the 12 appropriations measures. […] Here’s another dirty little secret about the PATIENT Act. The mandatory community health center funding that the bill would extend originally comes from Section 10503 of Obamacare. Since Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., requested five years of mandatory funding for community health centers in exchange for his vote on Obamacare, Republicans have consistently extended the mandatory spending, rather than allowing the health center funding to transition back to the regular appropriations process. […] It really isn’t surprising, therefore, that we have a highly regulated health care system on its way to a single-payer mechanism of full government control. The only question is whether Republican and conservative lawmakers (note that the two terms are not interchangeable) will wise up to the left’s tactics before it’s too late.

Amid continued tension with Kevin McCarthy, Republican Representative Matt Gaetz raised the idea of teaming with Democratic Representative Eric Swalwell to rid the House of McCarthy’s speakership. In a post made to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Gaetz teased the idea after replying to Swalwell’s post that called out Gaetz and McCarthy, as well as Gaetz’s inability to have McCarthy removed. “I’ve never seen a colleague make more empty threats — day in/day out than this guy. Gaetz folded like a cheap card table to make McCarthy speaker and will never — I repeat never — make a motion to remove McCarthy. I do not work with serious people,” Swalwell wrote on X. As a direct response, Gaetz wrote: “If I make a motion to remove Kevin, how many Democrat votes can I count on?” He clarified in another post to X the possible team-up with Swalwell to have McCarthy removed.

Unions spent an estimated minimum of about $1.7 billion dollars during the 2022 midterm election cycle, as President Joe Biden is courting unions and will rely on their support for the 2024 presidential election, according to data on 2022 election spending from the National Institute for Labor Relations Research.

President Joe Biden has long sparked controversy with instances of plagiarism, but one former editor of the Harvard Journal on Legislation has recently come forward with details of a particular infraction that he says shows “consciousness of guilt.” The president has previously admitted to prior plagiarism instances, including one in which he plagiarized an article from a law review while attending school, per the New York Times. Earlier this week, Heritage Foundation Vice President Roger Severino outlined his alleged experience in 2000 when he edited a Biden-penned article on civil rights and was “shocked by the plagiarism” he found. […] Severino went on to assert that the method of Biden’s plagiarism betrayed an obvious attempt to disguise the effort, deeming his approach “mosaic plagiarism,” a practice in which an author changes individual words within a larger quote to make the plagiarism more difficult to identify.

Chino Valley’s parental notification policy requires faculty to write parents within three days if a student is involved in violence, talks about suicide, or requests to identify with or participate in programs or use school facilities that are for a gender different from what is on their birth certificate or official records.
Five other schools have adopted similar parental notification policies, and are largely based on AB 1314, a California Assembly measure proposed by Assemblymember Bill Essayli, R-Woodcrest, which failed to earn consideration in a committee. The State of California contends the measure violates the state Constitution’s equal protections clause by singling out gender-nonconforming students for unequal treatment, violates state education and government codes requiring equal rights and opportunities to all students, and violate the state Constitution’s right to privacy for “outing” gender-nonconforming students.

If there is one defining characteristic of the average western feminist it is their propensity for turning their personal problems into everyone’s problems. Meaning, they have a habit of projecting their insecurities and outrage on the rest of the world, weaponizing their own unhappiness and turning it into an activist movement. If they are miserable, other people are not allowed to feel content; that would be unfair. It is for this reason that modern feminism is often accused of being an ideological cult for narcissists. Everything about it seems to be designed to elevate and appeal to the worst kinds of people. Not only that, but the belief system is now so pervasive in western countries, especially among the college educated, that 60% of women say they identify and agree with the “common definition” of feminism, even though the common definition does not match the behavior and motives of most feminists. […] Enter the “Passport Bros”, a movement of men in the west (primarily American men) traveling outside their countries to find wives in foreign places known for more traditional women that defy feminist taboos. The movement has gained exponential traction and attention in the past year as most countries are finally lifting covid restrictions, allowing more men to travel. […] While the mail order bride concept has been criticized by feminism in the past as being “exploitative,” feminists often joke that foreigners are “only using American men” to get green cards and then divorce them to take half of their wealth. In other words, they find it amusing for men to look for love on the other side of the world only to be treated by foreign women the same way they are treated by American women. But the PB movement avoids this dynamic, which is making feminists angrier than ever. […] Their reaction is rather revealing. The above is just a sampling of the salt that has been directed at Passport Bros in the past several months. Mainstream platforms are beginning to pick up on the trend and woke journalists are equally incensed. Clearly, the concept has hit a nerve, otherwise they would not go through the trouble of attacking it in the first place. But the core question is – Why do they care? […] Feminism treats men as oppressors, but ironically it also treats them as a utility to be used. Why not shame men into being submissive and acting as breadwinners if possible? Michelle Lujan Grisham by openly carrying their firearms after Grisham placed a 30-day ban on their Second Amendment rights. Grisham issued an emergency order banning all firearms from being carried in Albuquerque for 30 days, arguing there is a public health emergency. Both open carry and concealed carry were prohibited. […] “All we want to do is protect our families, our friends, our communities, I’ve gone on two combat tours with the Marine Corps and fought on the front lines. I’ve done 11 trips as an independent contractor. She thinks she has the right to take away my freedom to protect my community, I don’t think so,” an unidentified speaker said to the crowd, which proudly donned American and Gadsden flags. “This will not stand, we will not comply!”

Ten years ago, as the iconic youth organization Boy Scouts of America (BSA) kicked its self-immolation into high gear, a group of prescient leaders joined together to contemplate forming an alternative program for boys. Or perhaps a better way of phrasing it is that these leaders wanted to preserve what BSA had always been, as the original group abandoned its principles to morph into an alternative organization. At any rate, the result was the creation of Trail Life USA. […] It looks like those early organizers made the right move: BSA has since completely diverged from its traditionalist roots. Openly gay leaders were okayed in 2015. At the beginning of 2017, the organization opened its tent flaps to “transgender boys.” (On a personal note, that was the point at which I quit any involvement in the organization, even though our local chapter was solid. I have a personal policy against giving time or treasure to woke organizations.) By the fall of the same year, the last great boys-only youth program announced girls would soon be allowed to join. In February 2019, girls were officially admitted, and the name Boy Scouts of America was jettisoned in favor of the more inclusive Scouts BSA. Its moral collapse in full swing, Scouts predictably introduced a new “Citizenship in Society” merit badge in 2021, and took the extra step of making it a requirement for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. “The new merit badge encourages Scouts to explore important topics around diversity, equity, inclusion and ethical leadership,” proclaimed Boys Scouts of America/Scouts BSA/Scouting-dot-org. Thus fell the curtain on a once-great program that had lasted over a century. But thanks to the foresight and organizational work of Trail Life USA’s founders, the old-school, all-American scouting experience lives on. And this year the plucky upstart is celebrating its 10th Anniversary. […]
“Now, 10 years later, [Trail Life USA] is the largest boy-focused, Christ-centered scouting organization in the country,” announced the organization in a press release on Thursday. “Last May, Trail Life announced it had officially chartered its 1,000th local chapter with more than 50,000 members in all 50 states.”

Was 9/11 the beginning of the end for America? In the 22 years since the attacks, I’ve begun to worry that the answer to that question is “yes.” It spawned the worst and most destructive foreign policy in the country’s history. The government response to 9/11 birthed the constitutional abomination that is the modern warrantless surveillance state. The Patriot Act enabled the government to weaponize its vast resources against its own people. Bush’s failed foreign policy led directly to Obama’s presidency, and indirectly to Biden’s, both of which are responsible for diminishing the U.S. at home and abroad, militarily and economically. Durden: Reparations Backlash: California Voters Oppose “Unfair” Cash Payments For Slavery According To Berkeley Poll
The sprawling social experiment known as California faces an uphill battle on reparations, after a new poll from UC Berkeley and the LA Times reveals that voters overwhelmingly oppose the idea of cash payments for black descendants of slaves by a 2-to-1 margin. The poll found that 59% of voters oppose cash payments vs. 28% who support the idea. Four out of 10 voters “strongly” opposed the idea. Interestingly, just 19% of those opposed cited cost as an issue. The majority simply says it’s unfair to today’s taxpayers and wrong to single out one group for reparations.

Born with cerebral palsy and a build-up of fluid in his brain, Wasserman, 7 years old, hadn’t eaten in days when he and two other severely disabled children were rushed from their orphanage outside Port-au-Prince to a hospital in the Haitian capital because they were suffering from uncontrollable seizures.
As they passed a soccer field near a shantytown along a major thoroughfare, their truck suddenly stopped. Heavily armed men had taken over the road and were ordering traffic to turn back.
