Authorities in Los Angeles County are operating an ideologically charged tip line that encourages citizens to report one another to the government for non-criminal “hate incidents.” The project, called “LA vs Hate,” was founded in 2020 and is backed by a handful of corporate sponsors.
LA vs Hate describes itself as a “community-centered creative campaign to encourage and support all residents of Los Angeles County to unite against, report, and resist hate.” The program relies on anonymous reporting online or through a tip line, 211 LA, and is not affiliated with law enforcement.
The organization operates under the authority of the County of Los Angeles Commission on Human Relations and enjoys backing from Kaiser Permanente, Blue Shield of California, and other nonprofits and corporate organizations. It also receives financial support from the American Rescue Plan and local governmental departments. Despite being central to its mission, the term “hate” is not clearly defined anywhere on the group’s website. Nevertheless, its materials are scattered with ideological indicators. […] Asked by The Federalist whether disagreement with trans ideology and the Black Lives Matter movement — both of which are featured approvingly on the project’s website — would constitute “hate,” the group declined to respond.

Every day the Left keeps showing off how the total weaponization of everything, especially government, works. Thunder: You Should Be Very Worried About the Digital Services Act
Article 11 of The EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, which replicates a part of Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights, protects the right of European citizens to “hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers,” and affirms that “the freedom and pluralism of the media shall be respected.” Sadly, the fate of freedom of expression in Europe now very much hangs in the balance, as the European Union has just enacted a law that empowers the Commission to significantly restrict the ability of citizens to use digital platforms to engage in robust and sincere democratic discourse. Under the recently enacted Digital Services Act, the European Commission may apply significant pressures upon digital platforms to curb “hate speech,” “disinformation,” and threats to “civic discourse,” all of which constitute notoriously vague and slippery categories, categories that have historically been co-opted to reinforce the narrative of the ruling class. By giving the European Commission broad discretionary powers to oversee Big Tech content moderation policies, this piece of legislation holds freedom of speech hostage to the ideological proclivities of unelected European officials and their armies of “trusted flaggers.” The stated purpose of the Digital Services Act (DSA) that has just come into force in Europe is to ensure greater “harmonization” of the conditions affecting the provision of “intermediary” digital services, in particular online platforms that host content shared by their customers. […] At a superficial glance, the Digital Services Act (DSA) might look rather innocuous. […] But if you start to dig into the Act, you very soon discover that it is poisonous for free speech and is not in the spirit of Article 11 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, which guarantees citizens the “freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers.” Below, I detail certain aspects of the Act that, taken together, pose an unprecedented threat to freedom of speech in Europe:

“The president refuses to define success and refuses to actually tell us how much money we have to spend and how much time we have to spend to get to that success. This is a classic military quagmire. Smith: Will Democrats False Flag Us into a War with Russia?
The Ukraine war is still blips on radars. Fortunately, more people oppose sending billions to Zelinsky’s corrupt regime. They’re starting to wonder why Biden’s handlers and dazed and confused Mitch McConnell give more of a damn about Ukraine than Maui and East Palestine. But those radar blips may soon balloon. Speculation is afoot that Democrats may provoke a hot war with Russia. A diversion is necessary for 2024. Some speculation exists that Democrats would ignite a major war with Russia to impose martial law and suspend elections. That seems like a bridge too far. But, then again, Democrats and their allies had no worries rigging key state presidential contests to push doddering Joe Biden into the White House. Maybe the prospect of Donald Trump getting a second bite at the apple would drive Democrats to war. Instigating a war with Russia as an election-year ploy would bust the republic. It would literally bust much of Europe and North America. Perhaps it’s better to “rule over the ashes?”

Hubbard: McCarthy announces formal Biden impeachment inquiry
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday approved an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden, even as GOP senators warn against the measure. “I did not make this decision lightly,” McCarthy said when he made an announcement at the U.S. Capitol about his support for an inquiry.
“Through our investigations, we have found that President Biden did lie to the American people about his own knowledge of his family’s foreign business dealings,” McCarthy also said. “Eyewitnesses have testified that the president joined on multiple phone calls and had multiple interactions, dinners resulted in cars and millions of dollars into his sons and his son’s business partners.” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Piper: California quietly disavows medical misinformation law before courts can strike it down
California’s COVID-19 medical misinformation law, which threatens the licenses of doctors who deviate from a fluctuating “scientific consensus” in conversations with patients, got a frosty reception in front of trial and appeals courts this year. Signed into law by Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom nearly a year ago, AB 2098 may not exist by the time judges get around to deciding its constitutionality. A provision to repeal the law was apparently added to Senate Bill 815, which makes changes to the Medical Board of California, in late August or early September with the legislative session winding down. Nobody seems to know, or is willing to say, how it got there. Jenin Younes and Laura Powell, lawyers for one set of doctors who obtained a preliminary injunction against the law in January, told Just the News they were blindsided by the repeal provision, saying it wasn’t part of any settlement talks in their case. […] A huge embarrassment for Newsom and the Supermajority. Their COVID medical censorship law has been so thoroughly condemned across the political spectrum and so roundly rejected by courts that the Legislature is repealing its own law a year after passage.

On Monday, the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) unanimously denied Summit Carbon Solutions’ application for a state permit to install a carbon-capture pipeline across central and eastern South Dakota. The motion came from the PUC’s lead staff attorney, Kristen Edwards, who maintained that Summit could not meet pipeline moratorium and set-back ordinances passed in four counties. Summit admitted it could not adhere to local standards, but it had also sued several counties, contending that they overstepped their authority.

Torrez told the governor in a letter Tuesday that he believed the emergency order, which temporarily bans people from carrying firearms in public spaces across Bernalillo County, violated the state and federal constitutions. Because of that, he said his office would not defend the governor against several legal challenges. “I am writing to inform you that my office will not defend your administration in the above referenced cases challenging” Lujan Grisham’s order, Torrez wrote. “Though I recognize my statutory obligation as New Mexico’s chief legal officer to defend state officials when they are sued in their official capacity, my duty to uphold and defend the constitutional rights of every citizen takes precedence,” his letter continued. “Simply put, I do not believe that the Emergency Order will have any meaningful impact on public safety but, more importantly, I do not believe it passes constitutional muster.”

That amounts to paying $210 per room for each night that an illegal alien invader uses it to smoke meth or abuse their wives and daughters. The Kentucky Republican has vowed to remain Senate minority leader and to complete his current Senate term amid mounting pressure for his resignation due to concerns he is not well enough to serve in office. 73% of respondents in a recent Rasmussen Reports poll opined that he ought to leader Senate leadership. That figure included 74% of Republicans and 73% of Democrats. “I’m going to finish my term as leader and I’m going to finish my Senate term,” he said earlier this month.

Organized Palestinian terror is back to haunt Israeli civilians. In fact, 2023 has been the most lethal year in terms of terror and casualties since 2005, the last year of the Second Intifada. While in the intervening years, terror was essentially committed by individual Palestinians whether by knifing, or car ramming, the current terror unleashed by Palestinian terrorists is organized. It includes a central command of terrorists affiliated with Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah. Most of the recent terror actions have taken place in Judea and Samaria. The Hamas leadership in Gaza is behind the organized campaign. In recent weeks, the Jewish state has been challenged by a strategic turnaround in the way Palestinian terrorists are waging their deadly actions in Judea and Samaria. Although the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have been able to deal seemingly well with the terrorist pockets in places such as Jenin, Nablus, and Tulkarem, it is very clear that there has been an elevated threat to Israelis in terms of the frequency and quality of the terrorist attacks. The change that is occurring in the new Palestinian terror campaign in Judea and Samaria (West Bank) is being expressed in its new sense of purpose, the use of weapons, organization, and fighting spirit, and it has generated an armed uprising. The barely functioning Palestinian Authority (PA) and the feebleness and corruption of its leader Mahmoud Abbas is one contributing factor in the rise of the organized terror campaign. The perceived weakness of Israel’s political leadership, and the turbulence within Israeli society as a result of the chaos caused by the months-old demonstrations by the Israeli left seeking to topple the right-leaning Netanyahu government, using the pretext of the Judicial Reforms, is yet another. The goal of the new Palestinian terror campaign is to force Israel to withdraw from Judea and Samaria in the same way Hezbollah in Lebanon unleashed terror, which allegedly forced Israel to withdraw from Lebanon. Hamas would have you believe that Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip because of Hamas’ resistance.
