Federal judges have denied every change of venue motion filed in Jan. 6 cases, arguing those who protested at the Capitol can get a fair trial in the nation’s capital. Affecting approximately 37 million US adults, the disease can lead to dialysis, kidney replacement, and death. […] The ASN/NKF decision is projected to have a substantial impact on white and other non-black CKD patients. When fully implemented, the race-free GFR replacement formula is expected to negate CKD diagnoses in 5.51 million non-black adults who likely have CKD and reclassify CKD to less severe stages in another 4.59 million non-blacks—all in order to expand treatment eligibility to 434,000 blacks who are not likely to have CKD and to 584,000 blacks previously diagnosed with less severe CKD. […] The new race-free formula fails the NKF/ASN assurances that any change in GFR would be unbiased (in fact, it was purposely biased to favor black and disfavor non-black CKD diagnosis), based on rigorous science (none presented), and acceptable performance characteristics (11 million misdiagnoses is unacceptable) and would not disproportionately affect any one group of individuals (whites and other non-blacks disproportionately affected). […] Although I’m not retired, I spent my career as a biostatistician, and I’ve published over 170 scientific papers in peer-reviewed medical journals. With the cost of energy weighing on Americans, a GOP-led House panel considered a bill Tuesday that takes aim at the Biden administration’s green energy agenda, blaming it for rising energy costs. “I believe that this administration is furthering energy poverty as an affirmative policy for the purpose of controlling human behavior and pursuing a radical climate agenda,” said Wyoming GOP Rep. Harriet Hageman, who is sponsoring the bill in the House Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources. Hageman’s bill, the Energy Poverty Prevention and Accountability Act of 2023, would, if passed, require all federal agencies to include an “energy poverty statement” on the first page of each proposed rule detailing how it would not create more so-call energy poverty – essentially defined as the lack of access to modern energy services like electricity. The measure also calls for a federal agency proposing a rule to include a statement that the rule will not increase energy poverty for lower-income Americans.

House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) Chairman Mike Turner is celebrating the passage of HR 6611, the 2023 FISA reauthorization bill. Chairman Turner would have granted a clean FISA renewal, he’s that kind of Republican; however, several Republicans demanded changes to the FISA-702 authorities that capture the data of American citizens without a warrant. Thus, the HPSCI modified the authorities within HR 6611, but they made it worse. […] Here’s the core problem. The DATA COLLECTION is not going away, meaning the wholesale gathering of the metadata on all electronic communication is the baseline. As long as that baseline exists, the debate is about how the metadata can be accessed and what queries into that data can take place without a search warrant. If FISA-702 was completely removed, the executive branch (DOJ-NSD) would be on the honor system, which essentially- they are now.

Here’s what she had to say: IS CHILD TRAFFICKING TAKING PLACE ON ETSY? There are a lot of suspicious listings on Etsy that have people wondering if child porn or children are for sale for sex on the e-commerce site. For example, there is a “picture of a pizza” listed for sale for $9,000 and the listing reads “delivery instant download.” In that photo, there is also a cell phone strategically placed in the pizza box. (See below along with other suspicious listings.) It’s been well-established that pizza is a pedophile code — via the FBI, DOJ, other law enforcement documents and mainstream media articles such as the Wall Street Journal report from earlier this year — which makes these listings extra alarming.

He was instead ambushed by officers and charged with attempted child rape and two counts of attempted solicitation of a minor. […] He told the agent his birthday was December 11 and he was keen to celebrate it with the sordid roadtrip. ‘That sounds awesome. I can’t wait. This is looking to be the best trip I’ve ever taken,’ he said, according to the police document. […] Court records show Gaal was jailed for 10 years after a trial on August 14 to 16, 2000, for sexually abusing a two year old boy.

ProPublica Plots Another Clarence Thomas Hit Piece Based On Recycled, Settled Claims

in its obsession to smear Justice Clarence Thomas, the left-wing billionaire-funded website ProPublica is expected to publish another dishonest hit piece to justify its previous dishonest hit pieces on Justice Thomas’ vacations with his friends. But this new hit job does nothing to change the fact that Thomas acted consistent with the law and the governing legal body’s 2012 ruling that Thomas acted properly. In its first attack piece, ProPublica falsely claimed Thomas violated the law because he did not report various vacations he took with his longtime friend Harlan Crow. To support this claim, ProPublica cited left-wing “judicial ethics” experts who are funded by the same left-wing billionaires funding ProPublica. What ProPublica failed to mention in its story is that the Judicial Conference of the United States, which is comprised of federal judges and is charged by law with implementing and enforcing the ethics law for the federal judiciary, had previously considered these exact allegations and ruled in 2012 that Thomas had not failed to disclose any required information regarding travel reimbursements.

Several of the servicemen were killed by an explosive device, while the remaining soldiers were gunned down by Hamas fighters after being cut off from the rest of their troop, according to Israeli media. It marks the worst loss of life in a single day for the Israeli Defense Forces since they launched their operation in response to Hamas’ ruthless October 7 attacks. On Thursday, 27-year-old Jaifeng Chen was arrested in Arizona after he allegedly spray-painted swastikas on Hanukkah decorations and the wall outside of the Chabad of Kalamazoo in Michigan. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety said that the FBI worked in coordination with other law enforcement agencies in Arizona to locate and ultimately arrest the Chinese national. He was also booked on an unrelated charge on Nov. 27, according to WTVB. Chen is now in federal custody.

Approximately 20 percent of people aged 18 to 29 agreed with the statement ‘the Holocaust is a myth’ and even more believed the death toll has been exaggerated. The results are being linked to data that showed 32 percent of this age group gets their news from TikTok, where misinformation and antisemitism have persisted for years – the platform previously launched campaigns to combat issues. The poll comes amid concerns universities have become breeding grounds for anti-Semitism, which has led Congress to launch an investigation into Harvard University, MIT, and the University of Pennsylvania following their presidents’ failure to condemn students calling for a Jewish genocide.

David Harsanyi Capitalism is taking a beating from both left and right these days. Swedish writer Johan Norberg’s The Capitalist Manifesto is an excellent corrective. Though the book doesn’t exactly plow new ground, it offers a clear-eyed, updated argument for the moral and material benefits of a free-market system. Lots of people should be reading this book. An author who’s spent decades offering readers clarity is Thomas Sowell. Social Justice Fallacies, his slim new book, dismantles the trendy but dangerous identitarian arguments of the modern left. In some sense, it’s a companion to his classic The Quest for Cosmic Justice. […] Joy Pullmann War On The American Republic: How Liberalism Became Despotism isn’t a book for normies. This deeply researched, 456-page history of American leftism by Hillsdale politics professor Kevin Slack helps explain how America “decline[d] from a republic to a despotic kleptocracy” (3) across the last century. It’s a heavily scholarly work bookended by polemic opening and closing chapters, revealing the author’s impressive ability to read great gobs of historical documents and recall their minute details. His ponderous academic ability shines through on every page. Especially interesting to me were the pivot points between what Slack calls the three phases of American leftism: progressivism, liberalism, and radicalism. Leftists kept getting their philosophy shattered by massive events like World War I, World War II, and Vietnam, but responded by doubling down instead of changing course. In other words, leftism has become tyranny by repeatedly refusing to acknowledge its core ideas are false.

Pullmann: Cedric, the Rescue Dog (Ages 10 – Adult)

This novella dramatizes the true story of a British coastal rescue dog, Cedric, one of the famous dog heroes of history. The New Foundland rescued 23 people amid treacherous storms, becoming a Victorian legend.

The author is an American painter who has spent his life painting America and teaching 60,000 children art. One of those children was me. Barry Stebbing was the first person to very strongly encourage me to write, which set off the chain of events resulting in me becoming a professional writer and editor.

He is a profound artist, so this book also contains skillful artwork and illustrations, something I always treasure in books. So many children’s books have terrible art, which seems yet another unfairness to inflict on the young. I recommend Cedric for ages 10 and up, if the 10-year-old is a good reader and likes animals. My 8-year-old will certainly try it, but he’ll need to reread it later in life. For less practiced readers, I’d say 12 and up. The product page contains a sample chapter.
