The rule, proposed by the DOJ and ATF at the behest of Biden’s gun control wish list issued in March 2023, seeks to change the definition of “who is engaged in the business of dealing in firearms” to increase the number of Americans required to become FFLs, a lengthy and far from “easy” process, that must conduct background checks to sell their guns. The ATF and DOJ credits Democrats’ 2022 gun control bill, which passed because more than a dozen Republican senators agreed to betray their base. We knew it all along that Officer Chauvin did not murder George Floyd. In a previous article (Part I) I described the parade of evidence proving that George Floyd died of cardiopulmonary arrest resulting from his rampant drug use, heart disease, enlarged heart, and edematous lungs. I also showed how prosecutors knew that Officer Chauvin’s knee did not restrict the passage of air to Floyd’s lungs. This fact was not in dispute—the medical examiner testified that he informed prosecutors there was no physical evidence of asphyxiation. Notwithstanding this evidence, the legacy media manufactured the narrative that Officer Chauvin killed Floyd by asphyxiating him: a patently false narrative nicely encapsulated in memetic and opportunistic “I can’t breathe” T-shirts and “8 minutes, 46 seconds” ball caps. This rhetoric implied that responding officers’ use of force was unlawful. As I show below, this view is entirely false, though it made for effective propaganda. Responding officers (including Officer Chauvin, who arrived several minutes into the ordeal) handled Floyd’s arrest in a professional, dispassionate, and lawful manner. They managed to deescalate a tense and dangerous situation involving an erratic, powerful, and intoxicated suspect amidst an increasingly hostile and dangerous mob. They should be commended for their work. The bodycam footage proves it. Killough: Analysts: ‘Irrational’ policies drive coal plant shutdowns, incentivize overbuilding wind farms

Despite ongoing warnings that the electricity grid of the United States is becoming increasingly unstable, a major utility is moving forward with the elimination of two major coal-fired power plants in the upper Midwest. Energy analysts say the instability is a byproduct of the shutdown of reliable generation sources. Minneapolis-based Xcel Energy closed one of three coal units at Sherburne County Generating Plant, in December, as part of its plans to deliver 100% carbon-free electricity. It will shut the other two stations down, according to the Star Tribune, by 2030. The utility will also shutter its Allen S. King coal plant by 2028. The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission is asking Xcel Energy to reconsider the plan, warning the “premature closure of these plants adds to the uncertainty of electrical generation resource adequacy in the upper Midwest.”

A cruise missile launched by the Houthis into the Red Sea on Tuesday night came within a mile of a US destroyer before it was shot down, four US officials told CNN, the closest a Houthi attack has come to a US warship. In the past, these missiles have been intercepted by US destroyers in the area at a range of eight miles or more, the officials said. But the USS Gravely had to use its Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) for the first time since the US began intercepting the Houthi missiles late last year, which ultimately succeeded in downing the missile, officials said.

In an interesting datapoint that highlights both the domestic (election ’24) and foreign policy political motivations, John Podesta will work out of the White House and not the State Dept. where Kerry’s current office is located. John “Skippy” Podesta had no experience in “climate policy” prior to being tapped as the climate czar in 2022. Then again, none was needed considering the non-pretending version of his responsibility.

China and India are the only countries with larger militaries. Russia has one about the same size as us, as does North Korea. In addition to our active force, Statista says we have over 760,000 reservists attached to our armed forces.

However, both assessments are wrong: The Supreme Court did not hold (or even imply) that Texas could not erect razor wire, and the state did not flout the court’s decision because the court didn’t order Texas to do anything. Rather, the Supreme Court’s order merely removed the injunction a lower court had entered against the Biden administration, meaning the federal government could continue to remove Texas’ fencing — and Texas could keep installing it.

American history has become a gloomy narrative about race, gender and class struggles in introductory college courses, according to a commission report from Arizona State University. A yearlong study of universities’ introductory U.S. history syllabi found that “identity-focused terms” such as “White supremacy” dominated their content, according to the Jan. 19 report by the National Commission on the Teaching of American History in Our Classrooms. By contrast, the commission said the materials overlooked events such as America’s founding, the Civil War and World War II. By early-to-mid 2020, it became obvious to those paying attention that the Covid “response,” while promoted as a medical initiative, was in fact a military operation. […] The propaganda was as nauseating as it was blatant. And then came the jabs. How did this happen to medicine?

It all seemed so sudden, but in fact it has been in the works for years.

Faculty who work at MCS have been informed that they will be working with vaccinated students and a change in policy would require time for them to decide if they will continue teaching for our program.” Why do these administrators refuse to inform their faculty that a student’s Covid vaccine does absolutely nothing to protect that faculty member from contracting Covid for which they likely took multiple vaccines to keep themselves safe? […] How tragic that these professions were once the epitome of service to others; professions that we trusted to keep us healthy and thriving. Extinguishing the dreams of students called to heal others is perhaps the most diabolical of all agendas, and I am beginning to believe an agenda is exactly what this is.

MOVIE REVIEW: AMERICAN FICTION

Hayward: GO SEE “AMERICAN FICTION”

One Best Pictures nominee that qualifies on the “merits” demanded by the diversity commissars is “American Fiction.” It features a black cast, black screenwriter, and black director. I noted the film here back in October when the first trailer came out (posted below for reference), noting that it seemed like an anti-woke film. I have now seen it in the theater, and it is a superb piece of filmmaking. It does indeed make woke white liberals look foolish and idiotic, but it does so with a two-track story that is quite effective. And it is all the more effective for making its critique with a slow-rolling back story. A lot of people take issue with this discovery, but the story is actually deeper, and yes, even more Machiavellian.

The city initially paused the discharge of migrant families from shelters on Nov. 17 to assist the increasing number of new arrivals.

Those who break the law risk a fine or up to two years in prison […] The purpose of the law is to counter “the systematic mockery” that, among other things, has contributed to intensifying the threat of [Islamic] terrorism in Denmark, the Ministry of Justice said. There is much to say here.

Fleetwood: Red China’s Hong Kong Crackdown Is About To Get Much Worse

Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee revealed that the city would be expanding upon a national security law passed by Beijing in 2020 that effectively stripped Hong Kong of its status as a semi-autonomous region. The law criminalized many basic protest activities, such as classifying “groups speaking of potential independence” as guilty of “subversion.” Activities deemed to involve “secession,” “terrorism,” and “collusion with foreign forces” were also outlawed, all of which “carry a range of sentences up to life imprisonment.” According to Kyodo News, Lee’s proposed legislation would build upon China’s overreaching edict by criminalizing so-called “treason and theft of state secrets.” It would also institute a prohibition on orchestrating so-called “political activities” and bar local groups from “establishing ties with them, a move designed to further crack down on dissent in Hong Kong.”
