If the delusional but dead serious demands coming out of the international climate crisis community are to be believed, and as documented in the earlier two segments of this report, achieving universal energy security in the world will require wind energy capacity to increase by a factor of 60, while solar capacity increases by a factor of 100. The mix between wind and solar can vary, of course, but the required overall increase is indisputable. As noted in Part One of this report, that would be a very best-case scenario, where extraordinary improvements in energy efficiency meant that total energy production worldwide would only have to increase to 1,000 exajoules per year, from an estimated 600 exajoules in 2022. Finally, and as explained in Part Two, this is preposterous. Wind and solar energy cannot possibly increase in global capacity by a multiple of 50-100 times. It is utterly infeasible. As noted, “The uptick in mining, the land consumed, the expansion of transmission lines, the necessity for a staggering quantity of electricity storage assets to balance these intermittent sources, the vulnerability of wind and solar farms to weather events including deep freezes, tornadoes, and hail, and the stupefying task of doing it all over again every 20-30 years as the wind turbines, photovoltaic panels, and storage batteries reach the end of their useful lives—all of this suggests procuring 90+ percent of global energy from wind and solar energy is a fool’s errand.” One may nonetheless argue that other forms of energy can supplement wind and solar in order to still fulfill the climate community’s goal to completely displace oil, natural gas, and coal. Mittelstadt: States fight against foreign funding of ballot votes, despite leftist Swiss billionaire’s funding

Some states are fighting back against foreign donations in elections as a Swiss billionaire’s influence in funding nonprofits that support progressive ballot measures has been highlighted. The state legislatures of Arizona, Georgia, and Ohio are all considering bills to prevent foreign funds from being directly or indirectly donated to ballot measures. Wyoming has also warned county clerks to beware of foreign nationals looking to influence election administration, as Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss, a left-wing donor, lives in the state. Wyss, who lives in the U.S. but is not an American citizen, started two nonprofits: the Wyss Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, and the Berger Action Fund, a 501(c)4 organization. According to a report by Americans for Public Trust, both organizations have donated $475 million to influence U.S. politics since the Wyss Foundation’s founding in 1998 and the Berger Action Fund’s creation in 2007.

Lucas: As mail-in voting expands, bipartisan bill would require barcodes on ballots

Mail-in ballots would be required to include a barcode when being processed by the Postal Service, as an extra level of election security under a measure set to be advanced Tuesday by the House Oversight and Accountability Committee. Oversight Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., announced Friday that his committee would hold a markup on several bills, including this one called the Vote by Mail Tracking Act. At a time when almost any election bill is highly divisive and mail-in voting has become increasingly contentious, HR 5658 has attracted broad bipartisan support.

As noted in my book “The Myth of Voter Suppression,” mail-in and absentee voting account for the largest number of adjudicated cases of voter fraud, ballot harvesting, and overturned election results. […] The bipartisan support behind mandating barcodes on mail-in ballots doesn’t mean it’s a certainty that the bill will pass. A nearly identical bill was advanced by the committee in 2022, cosponsored by then-ranking member Comer and then-Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y. However, that bill didn’t pass either the House or Senate.

The GOP establishment may not like Trump, but what alternative candidates have they offered to voters, other than those who give good concession speeches. MAGA may be Trump’s catchphrase but the sentiment has been brewing long before Trump rode down the escalator in Trump Tower. If it wasn’t Trump, it would have been someone else, although Trump’s force of personality doesn’t come along often. Like Rush Limbaugh, Trump gives voice to the frustration of tens of millions of moderate and conservative voters.

Massie first asked Thompson to describe the purpose of the Jan. 6 committee, with Thompson saying the purpose was to investigate the incident and make recommendations to Congress so that it would not happen again. “And so it included things up to January 6th and also including the day of January 6th,” Massie asked. “That’s correct,” Thompson said. “Is it true that the Secret Service cell phone records were deleted for that day on January 6th?” “I’m not certain that all of them – we had difficulties with getting some of them,” Thompson said. “Was your investigation hindered in part by the deletion of those Secret Service text messages?”

Ballasy: Republicans stumble with Senate border bill and Mayorkas impeachment, but may seek do-over

ouse Republicans are hoping for a do-over next week after their effort to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas failed on Tuesday evening 216-214. Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga., told Just the News after the vote that Rep. Blake Moore, R-Utah, changed his vote to no so the resolution can be brought up again next week when House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., is in the chamber. Scalise was reportedly receiving cancer treatment and had to miss the floor vote. Clyde predicted that it will pass whenever it is voted on next week with Scalise present. “There will be a trial,” Clyde said during an interview after the vote. “It is still a live vote. It will come back next week.” […] The resolution faced opposition from a handful of Republicans who argued that it set a precedent that Democrats could use against future Republican cabinet secretaries. “I think that it lowers the grounds of impeachment,” said Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., ahead of the vote.

Joe Biden promised to veto any standalone aid bill for Israel, and Hakeem Jeffries and most House Democrats voted against one. The administration maintains that Israel’s security is so “sacred,” it must be tied to a doomed legislative package containing entirely unrelated issues that deal with border security and Ukrainian aid. Which, of course, makes absolutely zero sense. Does anyone believe that the president would veto a standalone bill for Ukrainian aid? Or what about a standalone bill for “humanitarian” aid to Palestinians? Color me skeptical. Now, a standalone border security bill? That he’d definitely veto. Priorities, you see. In the years before Barack Obama, a vote to help a longtime ally against a proxy terror army that — not incidentally — murdered 30-plus American citizens would have been a no-brainer. Today, a Democrat who takes an unrepentantly pro-Israel position puts himself in a precarious position. Biden is free to play games with Israeli aid because there will be no political repercussions. I hate being treated, for that short length of time, the way women are treated in the societies that produce the men who think these behaviors are fine. Speaking at a rally with New York elected officials on Monday, New York City field office director for Immigration and Customs Enforcement Kenneth Genalo said city and state policies restricting cooperation with federal immigration officials prevent ICE from doing its job. As a result, ICE agents often have to rely on the media for information about potential suspects. “We’re no longer contacted, we’re no longer called, and we have to check our databases, but obviously there’s hundreds of people a week that are being arrested throughout the city,” Genalo said in remarks. “If we can’t determine which one is being the most violent, we have to find out through the media, through the newspapers, through the acts of television outlets.”

The Iran-backed radicals began firing anti-tank missiles and drones at Israel Oct. 8, one day after Hamas carried out its mass slaughter of 1,200 Israelis. Four months later, the attacks — more than 700 and counting — haven’t stopped.

Israel has gotten the better of Hezbollah in most of these exchanges, destroying the group’s strategic assets and killing nearly 200 well-trained fighters. But it has been at a terrible price. Nearly 100,000 Israeli citizens of communities along the border have been forced to flee their homes. Admittedly, roughly that many Lebanese citizens have fled their homes, too. But that’s of little consolation to the Israelis. Hezbollah has achieved something meaningful.

In a tribal society, you can’t win by playing by Western rules. While the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, is still examining the proposal for a hostage deal formulated at the Paris summit, Israel’s News 13 reported that members of his family are receiving life-saving medical treatment at Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheba. Several of Haniyeh’s sisters are Israeli citizens through marriage to Bedouins and live in Tel Sheva in the Negev. In recent days, one of Haniyeh’s nieces gave birth to a baby in Soroka hospital. The baby was born prematurely and has since been hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit. The medical staff at the hospital have been working to save his life. As the story goes on to document, multiple Haniyeh family members have been treated in Israeli hospitals. While some Haniyeh family members were transferred out of Gaza for treatment in the past, this specific niece is apparently from the side of the family that married into a Bedouin clan and has members, including one of Haniyeh’s nephews, who served in the Israeli Army. Like most things in the Arab world, this comes down to tribalism. […] In a society where tribalism or ideology are everything, compassion or humanity buys you nothing. That’s why Israel’s efforts to provide medical care to Arab Muslims have won it zero points from either Arab Muslims or from the pro-terrorist Left.

While the NYT reported that McDaniel had informed Trump she would resign, other outlets citing different sources suggested that the conversation had been less definitive. The Associated Press, for instance, reported that the pair had agreed to delay deciding on her future until after the South Carolina primary, citing “two people familiar with the matter.” CNN, meanwhile, wrote that McDaniel “offered” to resign after the primary, citing “two party advisors.” […] Sources told the NYT that Trump is likely to recommend North Carolina GOP Chairman Michael Whatley to succeed her, though he would need to win the leadership election to claim the job.

A jury has found Jennifer Crumbley, the mother of Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley, guilty of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the shooting deaths of four students at Oxford High School in November 2021. Crumbley was found guilty of four counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the shooting, one for each victim: Madisyn Baldwin, 17; Tate Myre, 16; Justin Shilling, 17; and Hana St. Juliana, 14. The jury deliberated for roughly 11 hours, beginning on Monday morning. Sentencing is scheduled for April 9. […] Jennifer and James Crumbley are a rare case of parents being charged in connection with a shooting carried out by their son. James Crumbley, who also faces four counts of involuntary manslaughter, will have a separate trial in March. The jury foreperson told an ABC News producer as she was walking to her car that the verdict “came down to the fact that Jennifer was the last adult with the gun.” Ethan Crumbley, who was 15 years old at the time of the shooting, has been sentenced to life in prison for killing four students and injuring seven others at Oxford High School. He had pleaded guilty to 24 charges, including first-degree premeditated murder and terrorism causing death.

Doctors warn 60 million Americans could be at risk of deadly stroke due to ‘silent killer’ blood vessel disease

Experts have warned that as many as 65 million Americans could be at risk of suffering a deadly stroke or heart attack in middle-age, due to a little-known, ‘silent killer’ cholesterol disease. It is well known that fatty deposits called high cholesterol – specifically a type called LDL – are a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke, as they damage blood vessels, raising the risk of potentially deadly blood clots. However, doctors are now warning of the harms of a specific type of this substance called lipoprotein a. It is known to be more harmful than other types of LDL, as it is made from ‘sticky’ proteins that enable it to quickly form a clump, interfering with healthy blood flow. Also known as Lp (a), levels of this type of cholesterol are determined almost entirely by genetics and there currently no approved treatments to lower them.
