In so doing, Alito questioned what other actions a president could take that could be construed as insurrection and lead to that president’s prosecution. “And suppose there’s a country that proclaims again and again and again that the United States is its biggest enemy,” Alito asked. “And suppose that the President of the United States, for diplomatic reasons, thinks that it’s in the best interests of the United States to provide funds or release funds, that so that they can be used by that, by that country could a state determine that that person has given aid and comfort to the enemy, and therefore keep that person off the ballot?”

Scarry: Democrat Lawyer Admits At Supreme Court That Only One Party Can Be Allowed To Rig Elections

There was never a purer demonstration of how traitorous Democrats are about “defending democracy,” or whatever corny phrase they like to use, than what just happened at the Supreme Court. At the very end of oral arguments in the Colorado case determining whether the state had the right to remove former President Donald Trump’s name from the 2024 ballot, Justice Samuel Alito asked the state’s solicitor general, Shannon Stevenson, what’s going to happen if other states “retaliate” by, say, removing Joe Biden from theirs. Elected officials in at least six states have suggested it as a course of action. It’s an obvious question that Stevenson either wasn’t prepared for or knew it would expose her state’s case as a tragic joke.

In Mr. Biden’s interview with our office, he explained that he took his notebooks with him after his vice presidency because “[t]hey are mine,” and explained that “every President before me has done the same exact thing.” He also specifically referenced President Reagan, who, after leaving office, kept handwritten diaries containing classified information at his private home, as discussed in Chapter Ten. In his written answers, Mr. Biden wrote that, “[l]ike presidents and vice presidents before me, I understand these notes to be my personal property.” He declined to answer several questions about whether he believed his notes contained classified information; whether he believed he was authorized to possess classified information after his vice presidency, and whether he took steps to avoid writing classified information in his notebooks. Biden “declined to answer”? What does that mean? Did he plead the Fifth? Is there some other basis on which he could “decline to answer,” based on the Special Counsel’s softball rules? (i.e., “We are sending you some questions. Please answer the ones you feel like responding to.”) I would like to know more about Biden’s declining to answer. Should news stories about Hur’s report headline, “Joe Biden takes the Fifth”?

But why would anyone be calling for American airstrikes against Iran? The answer to both questions is that American deterrence in the Middle East has seriously eroded during the Biden administration.

President Zelensky has confirmed that Gen. Valery Zaluzhny has been dismissed, in what appears part of a broader shake-up of top military and government leadership. Zelensky said it is “time for renewal”. Zelensky said Thursday he met with his army chief and that while it’s time for significant “changes” – Zaluzhny should remain “on his team”. Though the decision had been rumored and reported for over a week, presumably the stall was to negotiate and ensure peaceful transition of the top defense post. There were also widespread reports that Zaluzhny had refused to step down.

Ilhan Omar’s bizarre speech must be understood in the broadest sense of “constituency.” lhan Omar—the sharpest, most duplicitous, and most wicked member of the “Squad”—recently gave a series of speeches, in her native tongue, to Somali-American audiences. In one such talk she addressed her “brothers and sister, people of the same blood, people who know they are Somalians first, Muslims second,” reassuring them that she will “protect the interests of Somalia from inside the U.S. system.” These interests, she explained, consist of unifying Somalian-speaking peoples of Kenya, Djibouti, and Somaliland. “The U.S. government,” she continued “will only do [what we] tell them to do.” Omar claimed that the speech was mistranslated because she later added that Somali-Americans pay taxes and have voting rights in the U.S., but that part was included in the original video. She also insisted that she said “Somalians and Muslim,” not “Somalians first, Muslims second,” but had nothing to say about the omission of the United States from the list. In another talk, she introduced “our” president of Somalia, describing her “special relationship” with him: “I call him uncle and he calls me his girl.” Then she dropped the most disturbing bit. “Welcome to our home, our home is your home. Welcome to Minneapolis! We are very happy that you are our president. Somalia is our home.”

Mercola: The Military Routinely Disperses Aluminum-Coated Fiberglass Into the Air

In addition to the weather modification going on around the world, militaries around the world are also routinely dispersing tiny bits of aluminum-coated fiberglass and plastic — known as “chaff” — into the air column, to shield aircraft and ships from enemy radar. Not surprisingly, this has been done for decades, without clear evidence that it’s safe for humans and the environment. According to a 1998 General Accounting Office report and a 1999 follow-up report by the Naval Research Laboratory, the environmental, human and agricultural impacts of chaff used in military training scenarios at the time were “negligible and far less than those from other man-made emissions,” but does that really mean it’s safe? As explained in a 2001 Navy Medicine paper: […] According to the Naval Medicine investigation, inhalation of whole, intact chaff fibers pose “no risk” to humans due to their larger size. “If inhaled, dipoles are predicted to deposit in the nose, mouth, or trachea and are either swallowed or expelled,” the paper states.6 Note the use of the word “predicted,” however. Predictions are not evidence. They’re basically guessing. Open questions also remain about what happens when the fibers degrade. […] Aluminum and fiberglass are not the only toxins being sprayed across our skies. As detailed by Dane Wigington, founder of Geoengineeringwatch.org, weather modification, also known as geoengineering, in which various toxic metals and chemicals are dispersed at high altitude, has been going on for more than 70 years, and is increasing rather than declining. […] With all of that in mind, it’s highly unlikely that military chaff dispersments have no negative impact. An argument could be made that chaff is too important of a defense system to get rid of, and that may be true. But the climate-specific engineering is another matter altogether.

In years past, it was kept hush-hush, and dismissed as a conspiracy theory. Since then, however, governments around the world, and international bodies like the U.N. have become quite open about the use of geoengineering for climate control, and if the global public does not push back against these efforts, we might not survive to regret it. Lately, violent crime has been surging in cities around the U.S. But more than a year ago, I got interested in how our globalized economy affects property crime. It became quickly apparent that many successful criminals—no different than their counterparts in aboveboard enterprises—can now move almost seamlessly between countries. Yet unlike people in legitimate businesses, thieves have to figure out where the best pickings are, how to deal with local cops, and, once they steal something, how to transfer the proceeds home without getting caught. That led me to spend months reporting on Maldonado after he became the focus of police scrutiny in the New York City region, and I learned he was imprisoned, serendipitously, several miles from where I live. He turns out to have been an unusually adroit burglar and one with a prototypical life story of a very particular type of globe-trotting break-in artist. More importantly, his story, and those of other alleged thieves I tracked, gave me a handle on the operations of a network of gangsters who have been systematically plundering wealthy citizens worldwide. Until now, that bigger picture has not been laid out in full. […] The criminals have become so pervasive that they have earned a moniker among law enforcement officials as “Chilean tourist burglars”—although some call them South American theft groups or “crime tourists,” acknowledging overlaps with other nationalities within the crews. In the coming months, according to an inside source, federal teams are set to fan out and come down hard on the thieves, hoping to finger the shadowy figures they believe oversee the operations: Chilean ringleaders back home and in the U.S. as well as their partners—Colombian coordinators and fences, who manage to turn the stolen caches into cash. But first, some background. […] According to the Los Angeles special agent with the FBI, the crime wave actually started off in 2014, when Chile joined the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) program. The 40-nation initiative grants those countries’ citizens virtually automatic 90-day visa waivers, permitting them, with just a passport, to jump on a plane to other ESTA destinations. (Chile is the sole Latin American country in the program.) Prior to COVID, more than 200,000 Chileans came to the U.S. each year. But within two years of Chile’s new ESTA status, “word of mouth,” the Los Angeles special agent with the FBI asserts, led more and more Chileans with larcenous plans to take quick vacations. The FBI agent says that “they see people come home having made thousands and even millions”—leading others to try their luck.

Australian transgender TikToker Rachel Queen Burton pleaded guilty Tuesday to aggravated child abuse offenses, including producing and possessing child exploitation material, gross indecency and indecent assault. Burton appeared before the South Australia District Court, where victims of the transgender social media star read impact statements detailing how Burton had stalked two children and their families after abusing the kids before he began identifying as a woman, according to The Adelaide Advertiser. The TikToker was arrested by the Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team in Oct. 2022 and initially denied the charges, the outlet noted.

Greenfield: Iranian Muslim Shot After Taking 15 Hostages on Swiss Train

The motive, as usual, remains a mystery. Swiss police say a 32-year-old Iranian asylum seeker armed with an axe and a knife held 15 hostages on a train between Baulmes and Yverdon-les-Bains for almost four hours until police stormed the train and killed the man late on Thursday. “The hostages were all released unharmed,” police in the Vaud canton say in a statement. “The hostage taker was fatally wounded during the intervention.” No details regarding the perpetrator’s possible motives have been released. Asylum seekers who were denied have been responsible for violence in Europe in the past. And the gent in question apparently didn’t speak any of the local languages

Hinderaker: A BITTERLY DISAPPOINTING VERDICT

Today the jury returned its verdict in the defamation trial of Michael Mann v. Rand Simberg and Mark Steyn. The verdict was disappointing to those of us who followed the case and thought that Michael Mann presented a pathetically inadequate case. The jury actually agreed: it found that the defendants had defamed Mann, but awarded only a token $1 in damages, since Mann had failed to prove any. But it found that both Simberg and Steyn acted with actual malice–they didn’t actually believe what they said about Mann–and awarded punitive damages in the amount of $1,000 against Simberg, and $1 million against Steyn. In a sane world, this case never would have gone to the jury. The legal standard is actual malice, which means the defendants must have thought, subjectively, that what they said wasn’t likely true. In this case, there was no evidence whatever that Steyn and Simberg didn’t sincerely believe that what they said was true. Indeed, as Mark pointed out in closing argument, he has been saying the same things about Mann’s hockey stick for something like 21 years, and even wrote a book about it.
