A few weeks ago, I reported that Ohio Senate candidate Bernie Moreno was a member of the board of the Cleveland Foundation when it doled out millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood and other left-wing organizations. It turns out that the Cleveland Foundation wasn’t the only board Moreno—who is locked in a tight GOP Senate primary with Sec. of State Frank LaRose and state Sen. Matt Dolan—sat on that made questionable (to say the least) decisions. While Moreno served on the Board of Trustees at Cleveland State University, the school established a partnership with the very questionable Confucius Institute. Moreno, who was anti-Trump before he embraced the former president, had called Trump a “fake Republican” who stokes “hatred and fear” and blamed “ignorance in our society” for his popularity. Nevertheless, Trump has endorsed him in the race and Moreno is now singing a different tune on China.

Maybe the problem with all of the government can be summarized by what the Federal Reserve is doing. The Federal Reserve lost $114.3 billion in 2023 and doesn’t seem to care. Maybe that is why the federal government has run up $34 trillion in debt, while they pretend government programs are paid for. They don’t care. They can always print more money. So what does the Federal Reserve do on its books when it has this massive loss? It just books a fictitious asset and fictitious equity. It cooks the books. It has no justification to claim it has money coming but does it anyway. It just assumes it will make money in the future. It certainly is not based on generally accepted accounting principles. How many other fictitious assets are on the books at the Federal Reserve or other government agencies to intentionally mislead the public?

I don’t fault any Zionist or ally of Israel for having embraced the two-state solution, as I did for many years. No other peace plan could reconcile self-interest and lofty principles so seamlessly. No other plan could offer a better way to transcend the contradictions that reality imposed on Israelis, by making a Zionist argument, no less, for Palestinian statehood. Far more powerful than a mere solution to a problem, the idea of two states was, for many of us, an irresistible form of seduction—a promise that partition could make Israel whole. The seduction came from our core Zionist beliefs. Our own Declaration of Independence says that “It is the natural right of the Jewish peoples to be, like all peoples, masters of their own fate, in their own sovereign state.” Partition would make that stance internally coherent, validating our own right by fighting for theirs. It would also reconcile liberalism with nationalism. After all, the occupation threatens both, because it not only violates the human rights of Palestinians, it also endangers the Jewish majority. Partition would solve both problems in one fell swoop.

The IDF has released video of Hamas leader Yahwa Sinwar heading down a Hamas terror tunnel under Khan Younis on October 10 with one of his wives and three children. Among the stories on the video I have found most worth reading are those by JNS and the Times of Israel here and here respectively. I should think Sinwar is getting nervous. He must be hearing footsteps. According to IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari, the IDF has arrested family members of Hamas leaders who are “providing us with large amounts of intelligence.” The IDF wants Sinwar dead or alive.
