Several Biden administration officials notified the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that the agency’s aggressive regulation to massively reduce power plant emissions has serious practical and legal flaws, according to internal documents obtained by the House Oversight and Accountability Committee.

The EPA’s proposal effectively stipulates that existing coal-fired power plants must cut their greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2040, and that new and existing natural gas power plants also make significant cuts to their greenhouse gas emissions depending on their size and situational use by mandating expensive and generally unproven technologies like carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) or blended hydrogen. During the White House interagency review process, several commenters highlighted serious logistical and technological flaws with the proposal, according to documents and communications obtained by the House Oversight and Accountability Committee.

Curry: Why do Republicans roll over on ‘climate change?’

Why are Republicans supine in the fight against the Marxist takeover of our entire way of life? They are petrified, for some reason, about engaging the debate on the “science” of “climate change.” This abandonment of the playing field has allowed climate spending to overtake the landscape like Kudzu vines on steroids. In Joe Biden’s so-called Inflation Reduction Act, signed into law in 2022, estimates are that $1 trillion in climate pork is stuffed into the bill. For perspective, the current federal budget is roughly $7 trillion. All this to support policies that are based on a lot of sound and fury but very little, if any, valid science.

Peter Leithart argues in “Why Trump Is Still Wildly Popular,” that it is based on René Girard’s theory of scapegoating. While this may be true, I think there is a simpler explanation. I also teach classical rhetoric at an Anglican-micro-college in California. I’m attentive to the dynamics of successful rhetorical skills, which Trump demonstrates in spades. He does so in three ways. First, he identifies with his audience. Second, he gains attention space in the media. Third, he reframes the arguments. Trump may be infuriating to some, but he is a uniquely gifted communicator. We’d all do well to learn his game.

Politico came out swinging on Tuesday with the tired “Christian nationalist” slur in an article about a second Donald Trump term. It intended to shame conservatives who “believe that the country was founded as a Christian nation and that Christian values should be prioritized throughout government and public life” — in other words, mainstream Christians. The Politico article closely followed last week’s release of the Rob Reiner-backed “God and Country” documentary, which also uses the “Christian nationalist” moniker and B-roll of so-called “ultra-MAGA Republicans” to scare viewers away from basic Christian beliefs. […] So as the apostle Paul urges in his letter to the Galatians, “Let us not grow weary in doing good.” Follow God’s designed order. Remain faithful and engaged in the seemingly humdrum acts of your life, not only getting married and having children but stewarding your physical and political surroundings for them. And reject the lie that your faithfulness is shameful. The people peddling that lie would love nothing more than for you to take it to heart.

This coming week, the University of Houston will be displaying the sculpture “Witness,” a massive (18 feet by 13 feet by 13 feet) nude woman with braids shaped like rams’ horns, tentacles for arms, and a large hoop skirt marked with Arabic writing in stained glass. Although the description on the UH website claims, “The large-scale sculpture Witness (2023) is a grand allegorical female figure that allows for multiple meanings and possibilities,” the group Texas Right to Life has deemed it “satanic imagery to honor abortion and memorialize the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.” For her part, the artist Shahzia Sikander affirmed this interpretation in an official response, explaining that her work was intended to express justice for nonwhite women, protest the reversal of Roe v. Wade, and celebrate the pro-abortion Ginsburg. […] Like all satanic imagery and ideology, “Witness” is mainly about mockery and spite. Sikander and her fans may serve up some verbal froth about empowerment or justice for nonwhite women, but they know quite well that no one is going to get that from this statue. They want to troll white Christians with a visual monstrosity and then call them hypocrites when they protest.

US Customs and Border Protection has recorded 21,000 encounters with Chinese nationals in the San Diego Sector since the fiscal year began in October, according to CBP data obtained by Fox News that is not yet public. That’s more than the 18,700 encounters with Mexican nationals during the same period, and second only to the 28,000 Columbians CBP reported encountering in the sector. Migrants from Brazil (8,700) and Ecuador (7,700) were the next largest groups, and other countries of origin include Turkey, Guinea, India, Guatemala and Peru, underlining the increasingly global nature of migration at the US-Mexico border. Tlaib, who became the only member of Congress to refuse to vote to condemn Hamas rapes of Jewish women, her goal is to “create a voting bloc” to stop Israel’s campaign to take down the Islamic terror group.
