NBC is clutching their pearls as Texas AG Ken Paxton celebrates dozens of victories for his endorsed state candidates who primaried Bush-supported Republicans. Additionally, his endorsements and support for the challengers in Texas has led to an additional ten runoff elections, including the potential removal of Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan who led impeachment proceedings against him. The media uses terms like “revenge” and “anger,” however, most of the MAGA coalition smile and think of Paxton as the leading candidate to be nominated by President Trump for U.S Attorney General next year. Yeah, this article is buckets of awesome. Out of the 70 candidates on the ballot yesterday that Texas GOP Attorney General Ken Paxton endorsed, 33 won their primaries outright, while 10 have advanced to a runoff.

York: Dems’ double freakout

Democratic fears are rising again about a general election matchup between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. There are two immediate reasons: 1) a new batch of polls showing Biden losing to Trump in every — yes, every — key swing state, and 2) new fears that Biden Justice Department-appointed special counsel Jack Smith might not be able to put Trump on trial and convict him before the Nov. 5 election. Last year, conservatives began taking action against the “diversity, equity, and inclusion” bureaucracy. The Manhattan Institute released a model policy to abolish DEI, exposed abuses in public universities, and advised political leaders, most notably Florida governor Ron DeSantis, in the crafting of legislation abolishing public-university DEI programs at the state level. To date, three states—Florida, Texas, and Tennessee—have passed laws abolishing or restricting DEI. A total of 17 states have either passed such laws or are considering them. Our efforts are bearing fruit. Last week, the University of Florida, the flagship state institution, announced that it had dissolved its DEI department and terminated the employment of all DEI officials. UF was spending an astonishing $5 million per year on DEI programs, which university president Ben Sasse wisely redirected toward faculty recruitment. The new budget would presumably include recruitment for UF’s Hamilton Center, a new home for conservative scholars. Sasse also offered a positive alternative to DEI, promising to hold the institution to the much better standard of “universal human dignity.”

DEI ideology has flourished in our nation’s academic institutions, where it long ago captured faculties and then administrators. Disciplines such as sociology or gender studies have seen the principles of identity politics sewn into their professional standards, so there is no effective difference between subject matter mastery and deep ideological indoctrination. Diversity advocates are absolutely correct that efforts to dismantle the DEI complex on campus mark a civilizational battle. “DEI activities,” writes Mathew H. Grendle of Elon University in Inside Higher Ed, “are designed to address and dismantle structures and systems that perpetuate universal harm” (emphasis mine). The “universal harms” are racial disparities. The cause of such disparities is having standards. Standards are the key to civilization.

And then the governor sends the National Guard to the subway. The Hamas terror group appeared on Wednesday to reject the latest Israeli offer for a temporary ceasefire that will include a hostage deal and the freeing of Palestinian prisoners, as mediators reportedly began a push for a short-term pause in fighting for a few days to build trust between the sides. In a statement to the press, Hamas said Israel has refused to meet the group’s demands for a permanent ceasefire, the withdrawal of troops from the Gaza Strip, the return of displaced Gazans to their homes in the north and “provisions for the needs of our people.”

Despite laying out what appear to be many of its original demands, the terror group claimed it showed the “required flexibility” in talks.

Oliver: One of the Last of the Greatest Generation

William Samuel “Sam” Studstill died last week, in Monroe County, GA, at age 98. He was laid to rest at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery on March 4, 2024. Nothing distinguished Sam from the millions of other World War II vets who were drafted as young men, served and fought honorably, and in the process defeated the greatest evils in history. Then they returned home, had families, and built the largest economy, strongest military, and greatest country the world has ever seen. Now, for the first time in my life, I don’t know a single living WWII veteran.

Growing up in the 1950s, ’60’s, and ’70s, most of the adult males I knew were all WWII vets, or so it seemed. […] Perhaps the best way to repay that debt is to acknowledge their legacy and remember their accomplishments. Western civilization owes our present good fortune and future hopes to the exploits of brave men and women, like Sam.

Why a raging Muslim crowd in Lahore, Pakistan was recently gunning to lynch a woman. A Muslim woman in the United States was recently horrified to discover that her McDonald’s McChicken sandwich was enveloped in a blue and white wrapper, which she was quite convinced showed secret support for the colonial-settler apartheid genocidal state of Israel, as those are the very colors of the Israeli flag. A world away, a maddened Muslim crowd in Lahore, Pakistan was getting ready to lynch a woman because, they claimed, she was wearing a dress with Arab writing all over it which, the crowd claimed, must surely be quotations from the Qur’an. And that would constitute a form of blasphemy. In Islam the punishment for blasphemy is death.
