Wyoming Eliminates “Gun-free Zones”

Republican Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon is about to sign a bill passed last week by both houses that will eliminate the last of any “gun-free zones” existing in the Cowboy State. If he doesn’t sign it within three days, the bill will automatically become law. It’s called the “Wyoming Repeal Gun Free Zones Act,” and it allows state citizens carrying a concealed firearm to be present at “any meeting of a governmental entity … or a committee thereof,” as well as at “any public school, public college or university athletic event” and “any public elementary or secondary school facility,” including “any public college or university facility.”

It would repeal the gun-free zones that we have throughout the state, the idea being that these are often targets of soft areas where if somebody wants to do something, they will be focused on going where there aren’t any firearms. If you pay attention to the transgender debate, it’s been obvious for a while now that the trans movement is interested in children. The specter of state lawmakers or even parents hindering or discouraging children from “transitioning” seems to haunt trans activists, who view recent political efforts to ban so-called “gender-affirming care” in some states as the worst sort of tyranny. Children, in their view, have a right to transition, and any obstacle placed in their way, even by parents, is a gross injustice crying out for redress. Up until recently, this argument was simmering just below the surface of the transgender discourse in America. It was the subtext first of the bathroom debate, then of the debate over girls’ sports, then of the debate over the role teachers and public schools are playing in transitioning kids socially without informing parents, and finally of state laws restricting transgender surgeries, puberty blockers, and other treatments for minors. In each case, the unstated argument was that minors who believe they are trans should be allowed to transition, socially and medically, and no one, not even their parents, should have the right to stop them. Now that argument is out in the open — declared in bold black letters against a blood-red field on the latest cover of New York Magazine: “Freedom of Sex, the moral case for letting trans kids change their bodies.”

Not only are students learning less in schools than they did in years past, but student enrollment continues to drop in major cities and even when students are enrolled, they’re not showing up. In huge numbers. […] About 1.1 million of them are black or Hispanic. But what’s really striking here is that younger students have stopped showing up or maybe never did. Elom Tettey-Tamaklo, the Harvard University graduate student who was filmed accosting an Israeli classmate at a campus protest, penned an essay last year glorifying a Palestinian terrorist who was imprisoned for her role in attempting to bomb a movie theater in Jerusalem in 1967.

“When I started learning about Palestine, I was always struck by the women who featured prominently in the movement’s work,” Tettey-Tamaklo wrote in a March 2023 article published in the Institute for Palestine Studies. “However, one woman’s story struck me and has stayed with me ever since: Fatima Bernawi.” Regarded as the first female Palestinian terrorist, Bernawi attempted to bomb the Zion Cinema in downtown Jerusalem in 1967 by leaving an explosive in her handbag. An American tourist spotted the bag and alerted an usher, foiling the plot. Bernawi was nonetheless sentenced to life in prison and said subsequently that her attempted terrorist attack was not a “failure” given that it “generated fear throughout the world.”

A Massachusetts Institute of Technology faculty member went on an anti-Semitic tirade after the House Committee on Education and the Workforce pressed the school to provide internal documents about its response to the outbreak of anti-Semitism on campus. A postdoctoral associate working in MIT’s Tonegawa neuroscience lab, Afif Aqrabawi, derided the committee chairwoman, Virginia Foxx (R., N.C.), as “a treasonous Zionist tool, a genocide enabler, and a disgusting shit stain of a human,” and described other members of the House as “Israeli bootlickers.”

Aqrabawi also referred to American politicians as “loyal prostitutes of Netanyahu,” lamented the influence of Jewish political groups, and referred to Israelis as “parasites.”

This partial victory does not mean the regime has been defeated, of course. The elites have been slightly chastened, but they have kept most of their powder dry and simply wait for the next emergency during which these powers can again be exercised with at least as much vigor.

In this interview with The New American, Dr. Ryan Cole discusses the recent update to RedCross’s policy related to blood donations: potential donors may be disqualified for ever being vaccinated against Covid. Dr. Cole revealed that he has observed that unvaccinated patients who received blood transfusions experienced blood clotting. The latter is caused by spike proteins generated by people’s own cells. As all of the mRNA Covid injections were found to be contaminated with DNA plasmids that can integrate with the human genome, cells became permanent factories of spike protein, causing systemic clotting. Studies on the long-term side effects related to blood and other systems and organs in the human body were never performed, and RedCross appears to be aware of the real dangers posed by the vaccinated blood. Other related topics discussed included self-replicating Covid vaccines; studies showing that as many as five percent of all vaccinated people experienced severe side effects and may have their genome permanently affected; and Covid vaccinations of young children, which Dr. Cole called criminal; the ignorance and compliance of physicians who are encouraging Covid vaccinations.

The victim, identified only as Kaylee is fighting for life in critical condition, with a skull fracture and frontal lobe damage, after her head was repeatedly smashed into the ground during a brawl near Hazelwood East High School on Friday. The family wrote in a GoFundMe: ‘In minutes, this family’s life shattered when their only daughter was assaulted outside of a North County high school. She was left alone on the ground to convulse before EMTs arrived on the scene. ‘She has major brain bleeding and swelling and is in critical condition. We will not know the extent of the brain damage that has occurred until she wakes up but the path to recovery will be extremely hard on the family, not only mentally but financially. Her mother and father are staying by her side night and day hoping to bring her back to the Kaylee they know and love.’ […] Meanwhile Attorney General Andrew Bailey has called on the 15-year-old girl who beat another teen’s head into concrete to be tried as an adult. Bailey announced on X: ‘This evil and complete disregard for human life has no place in Missouri, or anywhere. I am praying for the victim.

Despite the apparent similarities between Catholic Lent and the Islamic season of Ramadan – both include some form of fasting and prayer – the purpose of Ramadan and the Islamic religion is diametrically opposed to Christianity. While Lent is a time for Christians to prepare spiritually and physically for the Triduum, the celebration of Jesus Christ’s Passion, Death, and Resurrection, Ramadan has a very different outlook. As the Islamic scholar Robert Spencer explained, Ramadan is a season in which Islamic attacks against non-Muslims, including Catholics, increase every year.

“[T]he idea of Ramadan providing a possibility of outreach to Muslims is a tragicomic display of the failures and inherent limitations of the ‘dialogue’ imperative,” Spencer said in comments given to the Catholic Herald. “Ramadan is a month in which Muslims are to redouble their efforts to please Allah,” the author of more than 20 books continued. “The highest form of service to Allah, according to Muhammad, is jihad, which principally involves warfare against unbelievers.”

For years, women have bought the lie from pop culture, celebrities, and even ads on college campuses that freezing their eggs and using a third party to fertilize them later is “empowering” and that delaying or even eliminating marriage is best, despite the personal and generational repercussions it brings. The latest trend of embryo freezing between unmarried couples also buys the feminist lie that parenthood is oppression unless it’s on your terms — but it comes with serious consequences. In a disturbing new article, The Cut examines the lives of several women in the later stages of their reproductive lifespan who became so desperate for motherhood and a sign of commitment from their boyfriends that they created embryos with men they weren’t married to.

The article is primarily aimed at condemning the Alabama Supreme Court’s embryo ruling by claiming it will interfere with women’s ability to destroy embryos they’ve created with an ex. The Cut even quotes a Georgetown University professor who claimed without evidence that “the next step in this kind of logic” is forced implantation of these embryos. In reality, The Cut ends up proving that allowing anyone who can pay to take part in the free-for-all that is the American assisted reproductive technology industry does far more harm than good.

Spencer: Foes of Israel Wore Red Hand Pins at Oscars

NPR reported happily on Monday that “a notable accessory on Sunday’s red carpet was a red pin featuring a hand with a black heart in the middle. Celebrities like Billie Eilish, Ramy Youssef and Mark Ruffalo wore the pins in support of Artists4Ceasefire, a group of advocates and artists that opposes the Israel-Hamas war.” The luminaries explain that the pin “symbolizes collective support for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the release of all of the hostages and for the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.” This explanation, however, doesn’t really clarify much. At first glance, it looks as if these enlightened artists are being soberly even-handed: they want “the release of all of the hostages and for the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.” So Israel gets its people who are being held hostage back and allegedly starving Gazans get their humanitarian aid. Sounds great, right? The statement, however, also . . .

Knuffke: 14 years in prison threatened for Hong Kong priests who refuse to break seal of confession

The government of Hong Kong published a new security law last Friday that will require Catholic priests to break the seal of the confessional by revealing any crimes of “treason” they hear confessed, with a potential 14-year imprisonment for those who refuse. The law is a direct attack on the integrity of the sacramental seal to which all priests are bound under the ecclesiastical penalty of an automatic excommunication. The full text of the new domestic security law was made publicly available on Friday and included five more categories of crimes than had been previously made available for public comment. According to reports, “it appears it will be fast-tracked through the pro-Beijing puppet rubber-stamp legislature with alarming speed – perhaps within days.”

I’ve been writing about Islam in Europe for a quarter century, but I’ve never written a word about Islam in Iceland, and at one point I was naive enough to believe that I would never have to. Pretty much everywhere else you go in Western Europe these days, there’s at least a hint of an Islamic presence and hence, to at least some degree, a sense of being in the presence of a hostile and alien threat. It was never like that in Iceland. In no other Western European urban center have I ever felt as safe as I have in Reykjavik. It’s a clean, charming city of 120,000 in a remote island country of 370,000, and until recently virtually everybody there was Icelandic. It’s like one big family – except it’s not really that big. When I walked the streets, at any time of day or night, the sense of security was palpable; indeed, it was less like wandering around a city than like wandering through the comfortable (if chilly) rooms of a well-secured home. There are high-trust societies and there are low-trust societies; Iceland was as high-trust as you can imagine. And a big part of the reason for that was the extremely low level of immigration – especially Muslim immigration. Well, that’s over.
