On that basis they grouped them into four piles. 3,896 papers agreed humans were to blame for climate change; 7,930 took no position either way; 78 rejected the idea of it being humanity’s fault and 40 were uncertain altogether. That initial pass gave a figure of just 32 percent blaming humans for climate change. Obviously, that wasn’t nearly scary enough. So then came the gross and clumsy cheat: the 7,930 papers that took no position on whether humans are to blame were removed from the final analysis. With them gone, the figure of 32 percent went up to 97 per cent. And the likes of Barack Obama and Al Gore have been quoting it ever since. Whedon: Appeals court halts federal rule forcing religious doctors to perform gender transitions
A coalition of Catholic hospitals, along with other organizations connected to the Roman Catholic faith, sued the administration on grounds that the mandate would force them to violate their religious beliefs. A three judge panel of the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a district court decision in Sisters of Mercy v. Becerra that the federal transgender surgery mandate’s “intrusion upon the Catholic Plaintiffs’ exercise of religion is sufficient to show irreparable harm.” Becket Law, a religious freedom group representing the Catholic plaintiffs, celebrated the ruling.
Silvers: Federal judge strikes down Montana vaccine choice law in health settings
A federal judge in the U.S. District of Montana ruled late Friday that Montana’s law barring discrimination based on vaccine status is unconstitutional and preempted by federal law as it applies to healthcare settings, bringing a resolution to a lawsuit filed against House Bill 702 by Montana hospitals, private medical providers, unionized nurses and immunocompromised patients. The 41-page ruling written by Judge Donald W. Molloy found that, while justified by state attorneys as an anti-discrimination measure, the law effectively restricts health care employers from using vaccination status to “assist with setting workplace policies or vaccination regarding any vaccine-preventable disease.”
