The media reported that only 50% of murders were being solved. What was less reported was that this mainly reflected a drop in solving black murders. Homicide clearance rates for white people have actually improved since the 1980s and reached a high during the Obama administration even as black homicide clearance rates dropped catastrophically. In the 70s, 80% of the murders of black people were solved. Under Obama, only 60% were. As the Freedom Center had previously revealed in its investigative reporting, Black Lives Matter, its allied police defunding, decarceration and decriminalization movement helped lead to a nearly 30% surge in murders with 2,244 more black people being murdered.

I was also known as a “vent geek.” In fact, one of the reasons why I became a pulmonary and critical care doc stemmed from an early fascination with operating mechanical ventilators. Subsequently, I have long taught taught the management of acute respiratory failure and mechanical ventilation to medical students, residents, and fellows. Schlott: More than half of college professors bite their tongues over cancel culture fears

Academic freedom is under siege. A new survey from the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) reveals professors are shutting their mouths and biting their tongues out of fear of being canceled. In their newly released report “The Academic Mind in 2022,” FIRE (where I’ve been a fellow since 2021) surveyed nearly 1,500 professors from colleges and universities across the country. The results show mass self-censorship and a widespread fear that saying the wrong thing could cost them their reputations — or even their jobs. “I’ve been defending free speech on campus for twenty-two years now, and it was clear that things have been getting much worse over the past couple years,” FIRE President and CEO Greg Lukianoff told me. “But looking at these numbers, it’s even worse than I thought.”

And they had 24 hours to turn it in. “Anyone who hears that knows it’s a free-for-all,” Beyda told me. Beyda, an economics major, said students texted each other answers; looked up solutions on Chegg, a crowdsourced website with answers to exam questions; and used calculators, which were technically verboten. He finished the exam in under an hour, he said. Other students spent two or three hours on it. Some classmates paid older students who had already taken the course to do it for them. “Professors just don’t care,” he told me.

Dilbert Creator Scott Adams: ‘I Decided to Pay’ High Price of Free Speech to Have a Conversation About Race

Dozens of news organizations and a major comic distributor have announced they will stop running the popular syndicated comic strip Dilbert after its creator Scott Adams said black Americans who think it’s not okay to be white are essentially a “hate group” and that he wants “nothing to do with” them.

Adams made the comments last Wednesday on his YouTube channel “Real Coffee with Scott Adams” in reaction to a new Rasmussen poll that showed 47 percent of black Americans either disagree or are not sure that “it’s okay to be white.” Only 53 percent of black respondents agreed that “it’s okay to be white.” Adams went so far as to say that his “best advice for white people is that they should get the hell away from black people.”

It happened on February 17 in Columbus, GA when police were called to a Shell gas station around 10pm. They found nine juveniles all suffering from gunshot wounds, one of which was only 5-years old. According to the report, all but two were teenagers raging from 13 to 17-years-old. The other two were 5 and 12-years-old. Two of the juveniles were 13-year-old females. […] So the big question is why hasn’t this been a national story like a lot of mass shootings?

Donlevy: Oregon bill would give homeless $1,000 a month to spend with no restrictions

A proposed Oregon bill would provide the deep blue state’s homeless population $1,000 per month that recipients could use at their own discretion. The bill, introduced last month, would establish a People’s Housing Assistance Fund Demonstration Program to give 12 monthly thousand-dollar payments to those suffering from homelessness or who are on the brink of becoming homeless.
