The electoral landscape is not the same as 2016 and Trump is no longer the brash no-holds-barred insurgent candidate with whom the corporate media was infatuated as they gave him nearly $5 Billion in free coverage, which was mostly favorable, during his primary campaign. There are four factors that were not in play in Trump’s successful run in 2016 and that cannot be ignored in 2024. They are Trump’s highly successful but tumultuous presidency, the absolute necessity of overcoming massive voter fraud and manipulation, shifting demographic voting patterns, and as the 2022 mid-terms revealed, reliance on pocketbook and governing competency issues alone no longer win elections.

The way mRNA works is not like the way any vaccine worked before. Formerly, vaccines were created by taking a weakened or dead form of the virus and injecting that into humans. The human body would create antibodies to fight and beat the weakened virus, thus giving the body the instructions to create antibodies against it if the full force virus were to ever attack. The individual was immune. This is not what mRNA does. The CDC literally changed the definition of vaccine so that mRNA fit the category. We saw this happen two years ago, comparing old and new versions of what they posted on their website.

Here was the definition on the CDC website in 2020: . . . The new version became much more general, to include mRNA. Here is the current definition on the CDC website: . . . The first question you may ask is “Why would the CDC want to make it seem like this is just a standard old familiar technology? Why do they feel like they have to call it a vaccine? Are they trying to trick us into feeling comfortable? Why?” […] . . . they already knew that the mRNA vaccine wouldn’t give you lasting immunity and probably wouldn’t work against variants. Not only that, they also had no idea of side effects, because they had never used this technology to create an antigen. So originally, the technology was developed to produce something your body needed that it wasn’t producing. Now the technology would use your own body to create an enemy that it then had to fight. This had never been done before.

What could the possible effects be? They didn’t know.

After three years of speculation, an authoritative study has finally confirmed what humanity gained from all those mask advisories during COVID: approximately Zero. Across the populations studied, masks, regardless of type, had made “little to no difference” in preventing COVID or flu. The Cochrane review seemed to settle the matter once and for all. But alas, the pro-mask establishment responded with a trump card of their own: a New York Times op-ed by sociologist Zeynep Tufekci, “Here’s Why the Science Is Clear That Masks Work,” highlighting a statement of clarification from Cochrane’s editor-in-chief, Karla Soares-Weiser, that the review’s conclusion had been “open to misinterpretation, for which we apologize.” This new trump card was a disaster for mask opponents—the proverbial queen of spades—and it quickly went viral among mask devotees, newly reassured in the righteousness of their talismans. […] Tufekci’s op-ed brought new attention to a question that’s been a bit of a mystery since COVID began. Where exactly did all these mask mandates come from? Why did the US CDC suddenly reverse its longstanding guidance and begin recommending masks for the first time in modern history in April 2020?

European schools reopened in person much faster, without stringent conditions of the kind that American teachers’ unions and other Democratic interest groups said were necessary to mitigate spread, including six feet of social distancing, mask mandates, contract tracing and nearly $200 billion in additional federal appropriations not explicitly conditioned on making schools safer. “I would caution all of us against Monday morning quarterbacking,” Rep. Kweisi Mfume (D-Md.) said, denying an “apples-to-apples” comparison was possible between the U.S. and the 44 countries in Europe.

More than 100 pages of internal communication between the board’s former executive director, Nina Jankowicz, and her staff were released with heavy redactions to the conservative nonprofit Citizens United.

Kelly: Time to End the Veil of Secrecy Inside D.C. Kangaroo Court

Judge Beryl Howell did not get the gushing send off from her colleagues she undoubtedly expected. Howell, appointed to the D.C. District Court by Barack Obama in 2010 and elevated to the court’s highest post in 2016—just in time to oversee numerous criminal investigations into Donald Trump—finished up her seven-year stint as chief judge earlier this month. Colleagues and staff assembled in her courtroom as the proverbial torch was passed to Judge James Boasberg, another Obama appointee. But according to Politico, the retirement celebration turned into a “roast” of sorts as one judge after another chided Howell for her closed-doors dealings. “Howell seemed to freeze in her seat as the most senior jurist on the court, Judge Paul Friedman, publicly described her still-secret rulings in grand jury-related matters,” reporters Josh Gerstein and Kyle Cheney wrote on March 17. “[Her] fellow judges made clear they were as tantalized as the rest of the political world by Howell’s secret work presiding over grand juries that could lead to charges against former President Donald Trump.” Howell sat “stone-faced” when Friedman teased how, “we’d all love to read her opinions, but we can’t.” Friedman also noted that Howell issued “100 secret grand jury opinions” as chief judge.

Cheney: Judge says Pence must testify to Jan. 6 grand jury

Judge James Boasberg largely rejected an effort by the former president to assert executive privilege over Pence’s testimony, the person said. But Boasberg, the chief judge of the federal district court in Washington, agreed, at least in part, with Pence’s legal team that the former vice president enjoys immunity from testifying about certain topics due to his role as president of the Senate on Jan. 6, 2021. It was not immediately clear whether Boasberg’s ruling, which remains under seal, is broad enough to satisfy Pence’s public resistance to the subpoena — issued by special counsel Jack Smith — or whether he intends to appeal.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin testified Tuesday that Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s hold on dozens of military promotions over an abortion issue would have a ripple effect throughout the military and harm readiness. Tuberville (R-Ala.), a former college football coach and Donald Trump ally, has been blocking military nominations from moving forward since last month because he believes the Pentagon is improperly using funding to cover travel costs for service members who obtain abortions. He has used his perch on the Senate Armed Services Committee to hold up the nominations as leverage against the policy.

After the Supreme Court last year overturned the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that recognized a constitutional right to abortion, the Pentagon said it would cover travel costs for service members seeking abortions and up to 21 days off. It was one of numerous actions the Biden Administration took to try to protect abortion rights following the ruling by the 6-3 conservative court. […] During Tuesday’s hearing, Tuberville said the Pentagon’s policy was made without lawmakers authorizing the change. ‘As long as I have a voice in this body, Congress will write the laws not secretary of defense, not the Joint Chiefs,’ Tuberville said.

The Chinese app poses a national security risk, accumulating troves of data on its American users. TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew’s slithery comment that “I don’t think spying is the right way to describe it,” only heightened concerns. Too bad another Chinese threat — bigger and more immediate — isn’t getting the same attention. China has a chokehold on our medication supply chain. Beijing controls many — in some cases, all — active ingredients for the remedies in our medicine chests, the drugs used in emergency rooms and even antibiotics administered to soldiers on the battlefield. The med bottles in your cabinet don’t say “Made in China,” but nearly all are, including 97% of U.S. antibiotics, by some estimates. In a tense situation, Beijing could simply cut off shipments of antibiotics, cancer drugs and other meds, forcing the U.S. to cede to its demands. Our survival hinges on their goodwill. Terrifying.

On Tuesday, the State Department summoned Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Herzog to demand an explanation for the Knesset’s abrogation of the 2005 law banning Jews from living in four communities in northern Samaria. That law was passed in the framework of Israel’s failed plan to disengage from the Gaza Strip and northern Samaria. In August 2005, Israel expelled 10,000 Jewish citizens from Gaza and northern Samaria in the hopes that the Palestinians would take the areas and build a mini-Singapore. Instead, they built a mini-Afghanistan. The Knesset’s decision to abrogate the law was a rare example of a democracy acting to correct its prior mistake. But that’s not how the Biden administration saw it. Around the same time Ambassador Herzog was summoned, the White House said the law was a breach of Israel’s 2004 agreement with the Bush administration. That agreement, which was given expression in an April 2004 letter then-President George W. Bush sent to then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, essentially said that in exchange for Israel’s forcible uprooting of the Jewish communities in Gaza and northern Samaria, the Bush administration would accept the permanence of major Jewish communities in the rest of Judea and Samaria. […] Even worse, the State Department report effectively denies that the Jewish state has the right to enforce its laws toward its Arab citizens.

Thornton: The ‘Woke’ Tyranny

A minor culture-war squall recently happened over the definition of “woke.” Activists have taken to responding to conservatives who use the term by asking them to define it. The various definitions are usually decried as incorrect, then followed up with QED. certainty that conservatives have no clue what it means, and use the term merely as a question-begging epithet and a political smear. The word is indeed a political weapon, one adaptable to various political ideologies. But that doesn’t mean the question of meaning is idle. There are various dimensions of the idea of “woke” that originated over a century ago and continue to shape our culture for the worse. A closer examination of “wokeness” reveals that at its heart lie some of the most destructive ideas of modernity that have been spuriously repackaged as cutting-edge novelties. […] Much of “woke” behavior is redolent of political religions and cults, bespeaking its origins in Marxism. As historian Michael Burleigh has written, from the start Marxism “was a religiously inspired mythopoetic drama carefully camouflaged within various scientific-sounding accretions.” The term “woke” itself echoes the experience of religious converts. Indeed, the memoirs of former Marxists in the classic The God That Failed often explicitly describe their embrace of Marxism in terms of an awakening typical of religious conversion.

Tucker: The Decline in Patriotism

The Wall Street Journal has conducted a poll with the most interesting results. From 1998 to the present, the percentage of Americans who say that patriotism is an important value has crashed from 70 percent to 38 percent. The bulk of the fall has happened since 2019. More results will be discussed in a bit but let’s first focus on this issue of patriotism. The poll doesn’t define for the respondents what patriotism is but reflects on the word. It can mean love of country and homeland. It’s perhaps true that this has fallen. That’s believable since the US in three years ceased to place freedom as a first principle. Indeed, there is a growing cultural movement, extending from academia to the mainstream, that encourages loathing of American history and its achievements. No “founding father” is safe from being called the worst-possible names. Hatred of this country has risen to be an expected norm. But the problem goes deeper even.

Mondoro: Minneapolis school district to host gender clinic director who says 3-year-olds can be ‘transgender’

Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) is planning to host a family event featuring a drag story hour and a talk given by the director of a pediatric gender clinic who has previously claimed that children as young as three years old are able to “identify” as “transgender.” A “gender resource fair” is scheduled for Thursday, April 13, at Loring Elementary School. The Minneapolis school district advertises the event as “a gathering for families and their gender creative young ones.” Dr. Angela Kade Goepferd, director of the “gender health program” at Children’s Minnesota hospital, will be featured as a guest speaker pushing gender ideology and “transition” procedures for gender confusion on the parents in attendance. This messaging has propelled this already disturbing movement into a whole new and violent direction. If you’ve been paying attention lately, you’ll have noticed the subtle transformation from so-called “victims” to “terrorists” that’s taken place within the trans community. We’re starting to see a lot of very agressive and violent marketing campaigns from the LGBTQ. For example, the “Trans Rights…Or Else” movement showcases mentally and emotionally unbalanced people, literally threatening the public with guns. Accept us, or else… Or else what? Well, the shirts they’re wearing leave little to the imagination.

Diaz-Berthiaume: New minor in protest art offered at University of Maryland

“Students in this interdisciplinary minor learn how artists and designers can play a vital role in advancing public dialogue,” and will “[explore] our shared humanity and [while] addressing some of our major challenges,” according to the art department’s website. The new minor will help enrollees spark “conversations about racial injustice, inequitable development, climate change or celebrating the diverse communities and cultures around us.”

(Long overdue) New legal advocacy project will fight ‘equity discrimination’ at universities

The Legal Insurrection Foundation, a nonprofit based in Rhone Island, debuted its project in February. It is “devoted to the fair treatment of all persons without regard to race or ethnicity” and opposes “equity discrimination,” according to its website. In one of its first major moves, the Equal Protection Project on March 22 filed opposition to President Joe Biden’s Education Department rule rescinding campus religious protections instituted by the Trump-Pence administration. William Jacobson, the group’s director and a Cornell Law School professor, told The College Fix he started the project because the LI team has increasingly seen “open discrimination” on the basis of “race and ethnicity in the name of equity.”

In Israel as in states throughout the Western world, the political Left is an ecosystem of power, and not merely a political camp. It starts with the parties of the center- and far-Left. But it encompasses far more powerful institutions and actors, as well. These include the universities, the vast majority of media organs, most of the entertainment industry, and much of the economic elite. The Left also comprises the senior ranks of the security establishment—represented most clearly by politically active retired generals. The most powerful component of the Left’s ecosystem in Israel is the legal fraternity, which is comprised of the Supreme Court, the attorney general, the state prosecution, and the legal advisors to the Knesset and the government ministries. Despite its control over vast power sources in Israeli society, the Left does not control the Israeli people themselves. A significant majority of Israelis define themselves as right-of-center. In the last elections, right-of-center parties won 64 seats in Israel’s 120-seat parliament, the Knesset. The Left’s parties won a mere 46 seats. The other 10 seats went to two anti-Zionist Arab parties, which are supported by, but are not constituent parts of, the leftist ecosystem.
