The industry provides corporate and government clients with insight into conversations on private, invite-only Discord chats, WhatsApp groups, Reddit forums, and dark web message boards to help those powerful customers keep tabs on a variety of potential threats, from political hacktivists to the illegal markets that traffic in stolen passwords and intellectual property. […] In one video posted by CyberInt, an analyst for the firm discusses her approach to go into online communities and “detect threat actors when they are young or starting out at 14 or 15, that’s when I start observing and documenting their malicious activities.” At that age, they are “more careless and open,” the analyst said. […] Having already gained access to traditional social media platforms, the federal government now has its sights set on private online communities where terrorist groups, radical political activists, and hackers can operate with relative freedom. Some sentiment suggest that this might be a Disinformation Governance Board 2 – what with a similar declarative focus on foreign threat, which is then easy to transition, as a smokescreen, to turning the authorities’ sights onto “domestic dissenters.” And that would mean more censorship, in effect flying under the radar, critics fear. […] Matt Taibbi, who pored over Twitter’s internal documents to become one of those behind the explosive Twitter Files, doesn’t look at this kind of initiative very kindly. In fact, he seems to pretty much consider it a ruse whose real goal is to “slowly adjust aim to domestic targets.”

Solomon: Huge number of border agent candidates failing DHS polygraphs, union suggests it’s intentional

More than half of the job candidates seeking to become U.S. border patrol agents are failing the Homeland Security Department’s polygraph, though many passed such tests in other jobs, a pattern that is alarming some in Congress and leading a prominent union to suggest something sinister is happening.

Brandon Judd, president of National Border Patrol Council union, told Just the News that half to two-thirds of applicants continue to fail the lie detector test, and it is crippling the Customers and Border Protection (CBP) agency’s ability to keep staffed with the ongoing border crisis. “They’re failing an awful lot of qualified candidates,” Judd told the John Solomon Reports podcast on Friday, the day the Trump-era Title 42 policy expired, ushering a new wave of illegal migrants across the southern border. “And the reason why we know that they’re failing them is because these individuals have already passed other polygraph tests, or they fail ours and then they go pass a state polygraph test.”

A test that can accurately determine whether an individual with a positive PCR test result for COVID-19 is infectious was available as early as May 2020 — but public health authorities appear to have ignored it. Researchers at Stanford University who developed the test also determined that the vast majority of asymptomatic individuals who tested positive — 96% — did not transmit the virus. Investigative reporter and author David Zweig, a previous contributor to the release of the “Twitter files,” first reported on the test on his Substack.

Science Alert: Most COVID-19 Deaths May Be The Result of a Completely Different Infection

So while COVID-19 may have put these patients in the hospital, it was actually an infection brought on by the use of a mechanical ventilator that was more likely to be the cause of death when this infection didn’t respond to treatment. “Our study highlights the importance of preventing, looking for, and aggressively treating secondary bacterial pneumonia in critically ill patients with severe pneumonia, including those with COVID-19,” says Benjamin Singer, a pulmonologist at Northwestern University in Illinois. The team looked at records for 585 people admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, also in Illinois. They all had severe pneumonia and/or respiratory failure, and 190 had COVID-19.

The President and CEO of Planned Parenthood, Alexis McGill Johnson, called for packing the Supreme Court and other “judicial reforms” in an interview with Jen Psaki on MSNBC: During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki,” McGill Johnson told host Jen Psaki that the reason why she’s calling for changes to the nation’s court system is due to recent attacks “on our democratic rights and our democratic freedoms.” This is typical left-wing Orwellian rhetoric. She is talking about the Dobbs decision, which took abortion out of the realm of judicial fiat and returned it to the democratic process, where it belongs. To the Left, democracy is “undemocratic.” McGill Johnson also told Psaki that its time for the Supreme Court to expand the bench and implement term limits for justices….

Before people knew Clarence Thomas as a Supreme Court Justice, he considered a life as a Catholic priest in Northwest Missouri. Thomas grew up in Pin Point, Georgia — a tiny, rural community on the Atlantic coast near Savannah. He spent most of his early life growing up in the care of his grandparents, who he credits with his early faith and conversion to Catholicism. “In my generation, one of the central aspects of our lives was religion and religious education,” he said in a speech at the University of Notre Dame in 2021. “The single biggest event in my early life was going to live with my grandparents in 1955.”

He pursued his desire to become a priest by joining St. John’s, a high school seminary in Savannah, Georgia. Meanwhile, halfway across the country, Abbot Benedict Neenan and Tom O’Brien were graduating from a St. John’s high school seminary as well, but this one was in Kansas City. The three would eventually become classmates at Conception Seminary College in Northwest Missouri in 1967. At the time, Conception included four years of college and another four years of graduate theology school, and it was common for students to be from all over the country. In fact, Thomas arrived at Conception with a group from Savannah known at the school as the “Georgia Boys.”

As evidence piles up indicating that President Biden’s family is at the center of a massive international bribery scheme, the mainstream media has been obsessed with documenting the alleged personal corruption of the conservative members of the Supreme Court. Justice Clarence Thomas, whom the liberal media has been denigrating since his nomination three decades ago, has come in for particular scrutiny, but he is not alone. The New York Times recently devoted a lead story to its latest exposé: the fact that the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University had made itself a “friend” of the Supreme Court by lavishing “perks” on its members, such as offering guest teaching gigs in exotic locations like Iceland and Padua, Italy. As explained in a confidential memo issued by a Scalia administrator that the Times obtained, inviting Justice Neil Gorsuch to teach at the school shortly after his confirmation formed part of a strategy that aimed to make it “A Yale or Harvard of conservative legal scholarship and influence.” Other justices invited to teach included Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas. But as the Times acknowledges (below the fold), Supreme Court justices are legally allowed to earn outside income from such sources as book royalties, investments, and teaching.

Ozimek: Judge Orders FDA to Speed Up Release of COVID-19 Vaccine Trial Data From 23.5 Years to Just 2

A federal judge in Texas this week ordered the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to make public data it relied on to license COVID-19 vaccines—Moderna’s for adults and Pfizer’s for children—at an accelerated rate, requiring all documents to be made public by mid-2025 rather than, as the FDA wanted, over the course of around 23.5 years. In a decision hailed as a win for transparency by the lawyer representing the plaintiffs (the parents of a child injured by a COVID-19 vaccine) in a lawsuit (pdf) against the FDA, the Texas judge ordered the FDA to produce the data about ten times faster than the agency wanted.

“Democracy dies behind closed doors,” is how U.S. District Judge Mark Pittman opened his order (pdf), issued on May 9, which requires the FDA to produce the data on Moderna’s and Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccines at an average rate of at least 180,000 pages per month.

During the 2020 presidential election cycle, Matthew M. Graves donated $2,000 to the Biden-Harris campaign. The modest contribution was a no-brainer for Graves. Not only was he a domestic policy advisor for the campaign, he worked at the time for the same white-shoe law firm as Douglas Emhoff, Kamala Harris’ husband. Graves’ kowtowing paid off. In November 2021, Graves took the helm of one of the most politically-charged U.S. attorneys office’s in the country: the District of Columbia. Since then, Graves has escalated the pace and nature of the ongoing investigation into the events of January 6. His fixation on a four-hour disturbance that occurred more than 28 months ago has nothing to do with law and order and everything to do with using the full weight of the federal government to punish Americans who protested Biden’s election that afternoon. At the same time, Graves, who is in the unique position of prosecuting both local and federal crimes in the nation’s capital, has allowed D.C. to descend into violent chaos. Gun crimes and carjackings are skyrocketing: homicides are up nine percent over last year. Graves is under fire from community groups, police, and government leaders. The House Oversight Committee will hear from Graves on Tuesday morning. Finally. Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) threatened to issue a subpoena after the Justice Department first refused to make Graves available for questions. D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, departing D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Robert Contee, and city administrator Kevin Donahue also are expected to testify.

It is the first time in Israel’s short history that a large-scale movement has been launched using undemocratic means to overthrow a democratically elected government.
The new government, in fact, is trying to restore democracy – by reforming Supreme Court practices that were adopted starting in the 1990s, which allow unelected, unaccountable Supreme Court justices to deliver rulings based on “reasonableness” rather than on written law – often meaning, “whatever I think is reasonable”. Israel’s Supreme Court is currently said have “virtually limitless power’: it asserts the right to veto both political appointments and military decisions; it has no mechanism for recourse, and no requirement for “standing” — meaning that the litigant need not be directly affected by the decision, such as having a personal wrong righted. On the contrary, anyone can directly petition the Supreme Court, anytime, about anything. The last provision has opened the floodgates for lawsuits by “concerned” non-governmental organizations dissatisfied with decisions Israel has taken. In addition, sitting Supreme Court justices – not the electorate and not the parliament – have the power to approve or veto any appointment of new justices, leading to a closed “club” in which no one is flustered by dissent.
The Biden Administration, staffed by many of the same people who were in the Obama Administration, has behaved as an enemy of Israel from day one. The Administration quickly restored US funding to the Palestinian Authority without asking it to stop supporting terrorism or even to stop inciting violence. The Biden Administration then opened a U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs and installed, as “special representative for Palestinian affairs”, Hady Amr who has admitted being “inspired by the Palestinian intifada”.

is a subject that I’ve given a lot of thought to and have written about, and it would be easy for me to read to you a long piece that I’ve written on the subject. But somehow in the atmosphere of this delightful college, I want to have a shot at just talking about this notion of the great liberal death wish as it has arisen in my life, as I’ve seen it, and the deductions I’ve made from it. I should also plead guilty to being responsible for the general heading of these lectures, namely, “The Humane Holocaust: The Auschwitz Formula.” Later on I want to say something about all this, showing how this humane holocaust, this dreadful slaughter that began with 50 million babies last year, will undoubtedly be extended to the senile old and the mentally afflicted and mongoloid children, and so on, because of the large amount of money that maintaining them costs. It is all the more ironical when one thinks about the holocaust western audiences, and the German population in particular, have been shuddering over, as it has been presented on their TV and cinema screens. Note this compassionate or humane holocaust, if, as I fear, it gains momentum, will quite put that other in the shade. And, as I shall try to explain, what is even more ironical the actual considerations that led to the German holocaust were not, as is commonly suggested, due to Nazi terrorism, but were based upon the sort of legislation that advocates of euthanasia, or “mercy killing,” in this country and in western Europe, are trying to get enacted. It’s not true that the German holocaust was simply a war crime, as it was judged to be at Nuremberg. In point of fact, it was based upon a perfectly coherent, legally enacted decree approved and operated by the German medical profession before the Nazis took over power. In other words, from the point of view of the Guinness Book of Records you can say that in our mad world it takes about thirty years to transform a war crime into a compassionate act.

Smith: U.S. will start buying oil to refill Strategic Petroleum Reserve next month

The United States Department of Energy is expected to begin refilling its drained Strategic Petroleum Reserve beginning as early as next month, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said Thursday. Her comments were made during a hearing with the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where she explained that the process can begin after a “congressionally mandated sale of 26 million [oil] barrels” is completed, which is expected to happen in June. “It’s at that point,” Granholm continued, “where we will flip the switch and then seek to purchase” more oil to replenish the reserves that have been drained by Biden.

Border Patrol agents have been instructed to begin releasing illegal migrants into the country without a notice to appear in court as officials prepare for the expected surge in immigrants crossing the southern border, according to documents exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz sent the instructions Wednesday, asking senior officials in the agency to begin the mass parole of illegal migrants ahead of the end of Title 42, a Trump-era expulsion policy, on May 11. The illegal immigrants will be “parole[d] with conditions,” meaning they are required to schedule a court date with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or request service of a Notice to Appear (NTA), according to the instructions. However, the paroled illegal migrants will be released without any tracking technology, meaning there is no way to supervise them after their release, according to NBC News.

{Note: On May 12th a judge ruled that the U.S. Border Patrol does not have the authority to release illegal immigrants from custody without giving them a date with an immigration court and setting up a means of tracking them.]

Homeless Veterans Kicked Out Of Hotels To Allow Migrants To Move In, Support Group Says

Homeless veterans are being kicked out of several New York hotels as officials brace to take in more migrants from the southern border, according to a group that works with U.S. military veterans. Sharon Toney-Finch, CEO of the Yerik Israel Toney Foundation, told the New York Post that 20 homeless veterans were told they would need to end their stay early at hotels not far from New York City and find somewhere else to go. “Our veterans have been placed in another hotel due to what’s going on with the immigrants,’’ said Tony-Finch. She said that 15 veterans were kicked out of Crossroads Hotel in Newburgh and five others were moved from a Super 8 and a Hampton Inn and Suites in Middletown.

“Trans Minors Protected from Parents Under Washington Law,” the Associated Press headlined its story. A short time later the story had officially been “withdrawn” by the AP. Withdrawing the story however didn’t change the facts. Washington Senate Bill 5599, titled, “Supporting youth and young adults seeking protected health care services”, allows shelters where a child runaway shows up not to notify his or her parents. While normally, unless a child were suffering “abuse or neglect”, the shelter would be obligated to inform the parents between 24 and 72 hours after arrival. The new law adds minors getting abortions and transgender treatments as “compelling reasons” not to notify their parents. Once a child is listed as transgender, the parents are automatically treated as abusers. […] And those parents who try to fight the mutilation of their children face serious consequences. One parent, told that if he did not consent to transgender child mutilation would lose custody of his son to the state, took him and fled Washington. And he was far from the only one.

A Florida-based Trans activist group called the Queer Trans Project (QTP) “secretly shipped dozens of weapons and hundreds of sex-change kits to children in 45 states across the country,” according to reporting from the Epoch Times. The “build-a-queer kits” contain artificial male genitalia, breast binders, condoms, Tampax, tucking tape, and more. The “Trans Self-Defense Kits” were sent out by Thorn, a group promoting a “self-defense project based in Chicago that works to arm and protect Black & Brown trans folks.” Those kits allegedly contained “a knife, taser, steel baton, pepper spray and instructions on how to use each weapon.” Priority was given to black prostitutes for the weapons kits, according to QTP founder Cielo Sunsarae. No parental consent was required to receive the kits. Sunsarae is featured in a video describing how minors can evade parental knowledge of a request for the kits in the name of “privacy.” Sunsarae suggests several options for minors; obtaining a P.O. Box, requesting that kits be sent to a friend, family member, or teacher’s address, putting someone else’s name on the package, having packages held at the post office, or adding tracking to the kits to intercept more easily from parents.

The school assignment was for students to write a script, and then another student would be forced to read it. But a lawsuit has been filed because after a student was coerced into reading offensive material, for a grade, the school board shut down her mother while reading the same script at a school board meeting. It was determined to be “too explicit to be read in public,” according to a report from the American Center for Law and Justice, which is representing the family. The report from the ACLJ’s Jordan Sekulow explained a student in a Las Vegas area school “was forced to perform a profanity-laced, sexually explicit, and obscene monologue before the entire class as a graded assignment.”

The story of the prohibition on the discussion of autogynephilia — “a male’s propensity to be sexually aroused by the thought of himself as a female” — came to be promulgated in the act of enforcing it is told in Alice Dreger’s book-length study of the campaign to destroy the reputation of the Northwestern University psychology professor Michael Bailey. It is perhaps the single most detailed account of an academic cancel culture campaign ever written and an indispensable guide to the ongoing societal coup for which the attack on Bailey was an opening act. But while this strict separation of gender identity from sexual desire is rigidly policed by those pursuing the special right to legal recognition and inclusion into women’s intimate spaces of men who identify as women, one need only do a few cursory Google searches to see the repressed return in vivid profusion on the venue that has served as the primary vector for the spread of transgender identity, the Internet.

More patients were on puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, especially young girls. And the top-ranked hospital was telling staff that people could change gender based on their “mood,” according to slides from a mandatory training reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon. The training, which was offered as recently as January, included a primer on “zi/hir” pronouns and used a “gender unicorn” to illustrate the “spectrum” of “other gender(s).” By 2022, Rempe said, Children’s National was requiring staffers to use a patient’s preferred pronouns, no questions asked, even as European medical authorities were backing away from that practice, warning that on-demand gender affirmation could entrench dysphoria rather than reduce it, particularly in children. Worried the policy did more harm than good, Rempe asked for an exemption, which the hospital denied. She quit in early 2022. […] As it turns out, there is an outside force pushing hospitals in this direction. The Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index became a flashpoint last month when commentators posited that the scorecard was behind Bud Light’s decision to air an advertisement featuring the transgender TikTok personality Dylan Mulvaney. Well, it has a sibling. […] To earn a perfect score, hospitals must . . . The controversial quality-adjusted life years (QALY) metric can help deliver better health care—if its scope is limited. The House Energy and Commerce Committee recently considered H.R. 485, a bill that would ban all federally funded health-care programs from using the most prominent cost-effectiveness threshold to shape payment for medical care. Committee chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-OR) argued that it’s “unconscionable that a health care bureaucracy would so callously determine that someone’s life is worth less.” She suggested that the quality-adjusted life years (QALY) measurement at issue “is used to discriminate against people with chronic illnesses and disabilities, like cystic fibrosis, ALS, or Down syndrome.” QALY metrics have most commonly been embraced by single-payer health-care systems, where they are often employed to guide across-the-board rationing of treatment. This has tended to steer resources toward younger and fitter patients, whose underlying health is most amenable to improvement. Yet when publicly funded health-care programs are themselves dedicated to the elderly and the disabled, such a diversion of funds is mitigated. Properly used, such assessments could even help ensure that public funds yield the most benefit for those needing assistance.

Republican lawmakers are demanding answers after two young people participating in a transgender hormone study funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) committed suicide. The study, entitled “Psychosocial Functioning in Transgender Youth after 2 Years of Hormones,” was published in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) in January and examined the impacts of gender-affirming hormones (GAH) on “transgender and nonbinary youth” between the ages of 12 and 20. According to the research article, 11 participants reported suicidal thoughts throughout the study and two died by suicide.

NIH gave $477,444 in a five-year grant to the Boston Children’s Hospital, the University of California at San Francisco, and the Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago for the study.

A new Journal of the American Medical Association study finds that more than half of all Chicagoans will witness a shooting by age 40. Researchers found the numbers are even more stark when broken down along racial barriers, with over half of all Black and Latino study participants by that age having already witnessed such an occurrence, compared to one-fourth of all white participants. “We expected levels of exposure to gun violence to be high, but not this high,” study author Charles Lanfear, an assistant professor at the University of Cambridge’s Institute of Criminology, told Fox32Chicago.com. “Our findings are frankly startling and disturbing. A substantial portion of Chicago’s population could be living with trauma as a result of witnessing shootings and homicides, often at a very young age.”

Wall Street is full of lingo and its own aphorisms. One of the more relevant right now is the admonition to “sell in May and go away.” The suggestion is, if you are shorter term in your market view, the market has a “seasonal” pattern of weakness that begins in May and typically follows through October. We emphasize that it is a shorter-term problem where taxes and other considerations must be analyzed before investors should make any decisions. However, in accounts like IRAs and 401Ks, taxes may not be a consideration while transaction costs may still apply. It depends on the investor’s personal situation, personality, and willingness to reengage the market at a later time. Not all investors can do that. Like most “rules”, there are exceptions and in some years the market does not always peak in May and then displays seasonal weakness. However, it does happen often enough that there is a substantial basis for the wisdom. One of the market analysts who has studied this phenomenon is . . .

Hubbard: Automakers’ push to remove AM radio in new cars gets pushback from Hannity to Hill

Some proponents of AM radio, such as Fox News host Sean Hannity, argue that the push to remove the systems is a move targeting conservatives. Video didn’t kill the radio star. But auto manufacturers might, as they consider eliminating AM radio from new vehicles in their transition from gas- to electric-powered fleets. Manufacturers such as BMW, Mazda, Tesla, and Volkswagen are taking AM radio out of new electric vehicles over concerns their engines will interfere with how AM stations sound, according to The Washington Post. Major U.S. automaker Ford is eliminating AM radio from nearly all of its new vehicles – gas and electric – citing data showing less than 5% of in-car listening is from those stations. The proposed transition is already facing opposition from a big-time lobby group, Capitol Hill, and beyond. Trade group the National Association of Broadcasters said in April that over 82 million people in the U.S. listen every month to AM radio, which mostly broadcasts news, talk radio, and sports.

The head of the short-lived Department of Homeland Security (DHS) disinformation board has launched a defamation suit against Fox News, alleging the network published false reports about her that endangered her life. Nina Jankowicz was tapped to lead DHS’s Disinformation Governance Board, and though the board never held a meeting, it was heavily criticized by the GOP and was regularly covered by Fox News. […] What we are witnessing at Fox News is what we might call a self-fulfilling prophecy; when the people in charge of the institution do not align with the content or product the institution is creating. The result is a corporate flippant and cavalier approach toward the collapse of the enterprise. The Lawfare operatives are moving in to clean the bones of the carcass.

An eight-year-old girl was rescued after her brother shot a 17-year-old kidnapper with a sling shot in Michigan. The girl, who has not been identified, was on a mushroom hunt near the woods just outside of Alpena Township in the northern part of the state, police say. The victim’s uncle posted on Facebook that the 17-year-old male suspect had a ‘black mohawk’ and had come out of the woods, covered the young girl’s mouth and then tried to drag her away. Her 13-year-old brother saw the tussle from inside the family’s home and took action, grabbing his slingshot and firing objects at the would-be kidnapper’s head and chest. ‘That caused him to let go,’ said Lieutenant John Grimshaw, commander of the local post of the Michigan State Troopers.

Foy & Dubois: EU says China will take advantage of Russian defeat in Ukraine

The EU’s chief diplomat has warned that China will “take geopolitical advantage” of a Russian defeat in Ukraine and that Brussels needs to respond to Beijing’s global ambitions. Josep Borrell, the bloc’s high representative for foreign policy, has urged member states to find a “coherent strategy” to deal with China that responds to both Beijing’s rising nationalism and a “hardening of the US-China competition”. “The China issue is much more complex than the Russia issue,” Borrell wrote in a private letter to EU foreign ministers seen by the Financial Times. “China’s ambition is clearly to build a new world order with China in its centre . . . A Russian defeat in Ukraine will not derail China’s trajectory. China will manage to take geopolitical advantage of it,” he added.

The teacher from England, who can’t be named to protect the child’s identity, told The Epoch Times she had raised concerns about the potential damage social transition could have on the young pupil. The woman—who is now taking legal action against Nottinghamshire County Council over her dismissal—claimed she was stonewalled by school chiefs after raising concerns over the welfare of the eight-year-old. She was dismissed last year after raising a number of concerns regarding the facilitation of a new school pupil into her class who wanted to be treated as a boy. The child—with the support of both parents—requested to be called a different name and required that staff use pronouns aligned to the child’s new gender identity.
