James’ civil pursuits against him will suffer the same fate. “In all likelihood, I believe that my case, as well as DA Bragg and the Georgia case, will unfortunately have to be adjourned pending the outcome of the federal case,” James said during a recent podcast.

As always, I appreciate Dan McLaughlin’s excellent analysis of the claim that Judge Aileen Cannon should be recused from the Trump case in Florida – including Dan’s consideration of the work I did examining the civil litigation in which Judge Cannon ruled in the former president’s favor, only to be reversed by the Court of Appeals. It really is ridiculous that Republican-appointed jurists are customarily forced to deal with recusal onslaughts from the lefty legal scholars who dominate the profession and the media-Democratic messaging about big cases. […] For those of us who’ve toiled in fraught cases in front of hostile judges, the lefty scholar bleating is galling. Guess what? In courtrooms that are apparently in a different universe from the ivory tower, litigators have to deal with judges ideologically or instinctively sympathetic to the adversary. That’s the hand you’re dealt. Judge Cannon rules against you where the law is on your side? That means you appeal, not that she’s incapable of doing her job. If you win on appeal, that means she was wrong, not incorrigibly biased. Deal with it. Democrats seem to think that if they face ordinary challenges in any situation, those need to be removed by mau-mauing rather than overcome by hard work. That’s not the way the world works – or, at least, is supposed to work. Unhappy about the judge assigned to the case? Welcome to the real world of litigation. The judge is not disqualified because she’s philosophically skeptical about your position. That’s a legitimate mindset . . . so work harder. That’s the skill – persuade!

Now, if that sounds like an unfair description, there’s an easy way for the president to debunk his critics: He can read selected outtakes from some of these innocuous books to the prepubescent kids who show up to the event. Even better, he can do it on TV. After all, “[b]ook banning erodes our democracy,” says White House Domestic Policy Adviser Neera Tanden, and “removes vital resources for student learning, and can contribute to stigma and isolation.” As Biden says: “There is no such thing as someone else’s child. Our nation’s children are all our children.” So, perhaps the White House could set up a themed reading circle on the South Lawn where the president can recite selections from Lawn Boy, which describes 10-year-old boys performing oral sex on each other. He launched an effort to flip “Pride Month” on its head—dedicating the month not to a specific interest group, but to a moral virtue, fidelity. (George is a member of The Heritage Foundation’s board of directors and The Daily Signal is Heritage’s news outlet.) “Fidelity” derives from the Latin word “fides,” meaning “faith” or “trust.” The word implies “strict and continuing faithfulness to an obligation, trust, or duty,” according to Merriam–Webster. George freely acknowledged that “absolutely no one” gave him any authority to declare June “Fidelity Month.” Nonetheless, he has done so, and I believe we as conservatives should join him in this effort.

Under his watch, the bank has brought China’s social credit system to American soil by using arbitrary ESG metrics to potentially lock individuals and businesses out of key banking services. This is the same bank that helped build the Chinese Communist Party, investing billions of American dollars into China to help facilitate its rise. They can call themselves Bank of America, but the truth is that Moynihan and his crew have been working to undermine America at every turn. Torres: The Other CRT

Public education authorities and teachers’ unions aren’t all wrong when they argue that critical race theory, referring to graduate-level legal theory, is not “taught” in K–12 schools. But with that calculated half-truth, they obscure something more troubling. Teachers in many states are being trained to suffuse critical theory throughout the entirety of the traditional curriculum, pursuing what academics call “the other CRT”: culturally responsive teaching. In fact, a majority of state education departments have adopted some form of the pedagogy. This other CRT hasn’t faced much pushback—until now. Families, teachers, and administrators in three western Pennsylvania school districts are suing the state Department of Education over its “culturally-relevant and sustaining education” (CR-SE) guidelines, arguing not only that it illegally skirted public scrutiny but also that the competencies listed in the guidelines violate state and federal civil rights guarantees. According to their complaint, the guidelines dictate what teachers must believe and how they must behave. For instance, one competency requires teachers to acknowledge “that biases exist in the educational system” and to become internal activists who “disrupt harmful institutional practices.” Another requires that teachers “believe and acknowledge that microaggressions are real” and then commit to ridding their classrooms of them, notwithstanding the dubious research behind the concept. And yet another tells teachers to be aware of their “own conscious/unconscious biases,” implying that all must accept their guilt.

Zuckerman: Paul Ryan opens mouth, re-confirms swamp status (again)

Paul F. Ryan declared on Black Tuesday that the federal indictment of former president Trump makes Trump unelectable in 2024. I hasten to put this backstabbing comment into context. Last November, Ryan predicted that Mr. Trump would lose the 2024 presidential election. Earlier this year, Ryan announced that if the former president is the Republican candidate in 2024, he will not go to the party’s convention, to be held in Milwaukee, this July. Ryan is from Wisconsin. It should also be noted that in October 2016, Ryan declared that he will not campaign for, nor defend, Mr. Trump, then the GOP presidential candidate.
