Smith: Library group’s ‘intellectual freedom’ director tells libraries how to censor Christian story hours
he American Library Association is offering guidance to public libraries on how to prevent events like an upcoming one by leading Christian children’s book publisher and marquee author Kirk Cameron, arguing they’re an attempt to “censor” or “silence” LGBTQIA library-users and their materials. The guidance came from Deborah Caldwell-Stone, the association’s director of the Office for Intellectual Freedom, during a virtual library conference earlier this month. She said events like Cameron and BRAVE Book’s “See You at the Library” on Aug. 5 are attempts to “exploit the open nature of a public library to advance their agendas” and to “censor LGBTQIA materials or disparage or silence LGBTQIA library users.” BRAVE described the event as an “alternative” to drag queen story hours. Caldwell-Stone said the event is part of a campaign to “take over libraries,” and suggested using policies and procedures to “keep control” of the facilities, arguing the First Amendment “does not require the library to even offer the meeting room spaces.” She also said: . . .
Nelson: Former high school debater left shocked by biased judges: ‘Conform or fail’
A former high school debate champion warned competitions have been hijacked by biased left-leaning judges. James Fishback, founder and executive director of Incubate Debate, recently wrote in a May op-ed that some students have lost debates based on personal social media posts. He went on to explain that students would “automatically lose” if they argued in favor of subjects like Israel, police or capitalism. Judges’ restrictions around other topics, like transphobia or xenophobia, are more subtle, Fishback said in the op-ed. “This ambiguity creates fear and self-censorship in these students who go on to compete,” Fishback explained on “America’s Newsroom,” Tuesday. “They think they can’t make certain arguments. And as a result, high school debate becomes an echo chamber where certain viewpoints are not allowed to be heard.”

Fox Business News recently interviewed a South Dakota farmer named Jared Bossly. A company called Summit Carbon Solutions is laying the groundwork to run pipelines through five Midwestern farming states for the purpose of capturing, compressing, and transmitting CO2 from ethanol processing facilities to a final resting place deep below the ground, somewhere in North Dakota. Fox News reports that more than 80 eminent domain lawsuits have been filed in South Dakota for this purpose. Mr. Bossly’s wife (he was not home at the time) recorded footage of the occupants in an unmarked pickup truck with Louisiana license plates which parked, unannounced, on their property. The occupants entered the workshop on the premises near the farmhouse, rooted around a while, then proceeded to a more remote area of the property and began surveying. Summit Carbon tried to get a restraining order on Bossly and get him cited for contempt of court for allegedly threatening to kill the surveyors — a claim that Bossly vehemently denies, saying he only spoke to the surveyors for a few seconds on the phone. The contempt charges were dropped, but the surveying was approved by a judge. In May, 2022, the Biden Administration announced a $3.5 billion program to capture carbon pollution from the air, and the money has been flowing copiously. A quick search on LinkedIn for companies engaged in Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) projects will reveal dozens of companies, most of which are U.S.-based. They are well-staffed and generously funded with millions of up-front taxpayer dollars. […] The hyperbolic language of the climate change crowd has been wearing thin ever since Al Gore’s dire predictions from 2006 have inconveniently not materialized. It’s up to us to make the left realize they’ve overplayed their hand: they cannot ride roughshod over property rights whenever it suits them, just as they cannot force us to drink Bud Light if we don’t wish to do so.

A UK study led by the University of Leeds found the average electric car puts 2.24 times more stress on roads than a similar petrol vehicle – and 1.95 more than a diesel. Larger electric vehicles can cause up to 2.32 times more damage to roads. The stress on roads causes greater movement of asphalt which can lead to small cracks and eventually expand into potholes with local government authorities left to repair the damage. Impact is even bigger with larger EVs, which can lead to up to 2.32 times more damage to road infrastructure, according to the report as outlined by the Daily Telegraph.

The documents, dated Aug. 18, 2022, and marked “confidential,” show that cumulatively, during the clinical trials and post-marketing period up to June 18, 2022, a total of 4,964,106 adverse events were recorded. The documents included an appendix with further details about the specifics about the identified adverse events. Among children under age 17, 189 deaths and thousands of serious adverse events were reported.

Óscar Cabrera Adames, 28, was battling myocarditis – an inflammation of the heart – prompting a stress test in Santo Domingo this week, where he suffered a heart attack and died, according to multiple reports. It is not clear if the stress test caused the heart attack. Dominican sports writer Hector Gomez was among the first to report on his passing. Myocarditis reduces the heart’s ability to pump blood, making strenuous exercise potentially fatal, according to the American Heart Association. After his death, Cabrera Adames’ old social media posts resurfaced, showing him blaming the rare disease on the COVID vaccine.

Paul has sent a letter to Health and Human Services boss Xavier Becerra demanding to know “Dr. Fauci’s current employment status and whether he is still receiving certain taxpayer-funded benefits associated with active public service, such as legal counsel and protective services.”

Prior to the promotion, Aaron Berman, who served 17 years in the CIA, was in charge of a team that decided what would get classified as “misinformation” on Facebook during the 2020 presidential election, Breitbart News reports. […] Berman’s new position will consist of “Leading a team responsible for elections-related content policies worldwide. Overseeing policy development, advises senior executives, coordinates with teams on implementation via technical and human workflows, and representing Meta with external stakeholders.” He adds that he will also “Put policies into practice on key elections.”

Two environmental groups have filed a federal lawsuit alleging the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Dahlgren, Virginia, violated the Clean Water Act through munitions testing in and over the Potomac. The Potomac Riverkeeper Network and the Natural Resources Defense Council filed suit in the U.S. District Court in Baltimore, alleging NSWC Dahlgren has discharged over 33 million pounds of munitions into the Potomac containing toxic metals, solvents, explosives and other potentially harmful constituents. Though river water downstream of Dahlgren is not harvested for drinking water, the base is located along a stretch of the Potomac, considered a critical habitat for Atlantic Sturgeon. […] According to the lawsuit, NSWC Dahlgren is the nation’s largest over-water firing range and has been conducting weapons testing on the Potomac for over 100 years. In response to the claims from PRN and NRDC, the Navy has agreed to allow testing to determine how munitions activity might affect the sturgeon population, but has not agreed to any other environmental testing.

Wilson: School District Bans Parents From Board Meeting on Policy Restricting Parental Rights
The largest school district in Maryland will limit access for parents at an upcoming meeting where it will discuss a policy that bars parents from opting their children out of lessons on gender identity and sexuality. Montgomery County Public Schools is set to hold a meeting Tuesday evening, and instead of its usual policy of opening the meeting to the public, the district said in a statement it is limiting it to “scheduled speakers, invited attendees, and other guests.” The district cited concerns over “safety” as reason for the limitation. The board will discuss a policy that forbids parents from pulling their children out of lessons they find inappropriate. […] It’s the latest example of Democrats attempting to prevent parents from having a say in lessons for their children on LGBT topics. Just last week, the Democratic New Jersey attorney general announced a lawsuit against three school districts for having policies that mandate teachers to inform parents if a child publicly changes his or her gender identity.

While Target is currently under a nationwide boycott over a recent LGBTQ pride month display that included merchandise for kids, an advertisement from 2015 resurfaced on Tuesday sparking further backlash as the video shows the retail giant using kids to promote pride month. On June 8, 2015, Target released an advertisement on Twitter that encouraged young kids to take pride in the fact that they were born gay. “We weren’t born with pride. We #TakePride in who we were born to be. What do you #TakePride in?” Target wrote in a Tweet with the attached video advertisement.

In a video captured by Katie Daviscourt of The Post Millennial, a man cheers and converses with a young child who repeatedly attempts to throw a plush toy brick into the middle of a display painted to look like a wall. The center of the wall has a large hole with a sign that reads “Basket of Deplorables” and features pictures of notable Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga. and Rep. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.

Figures such as Alyssa Milano, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato and many more signed the letter arranged by GLAAD (formerly Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) and the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), which they sent to the CEOs of Meta, YouTube, TikTok and Twitter. Among other things, the letter takes issue with “misgendering,” or referring to a person by their biological sex rather than their preferred gender, and “deadnaming,” which is calling a person by their birth name rather than their preferred name. “Targeted misgendering and deadnaming of trans and nonbinary people is a widespread mode of hate speech across all platforms, utilized to bully and harass prominent public figures while simultaneously expressing hatred and contempt,” the letter states. According to a Reuters investigation, parents trying to sue Merck were “stymied by one of Corporate America’s most effective liability shields: the doctrine of federal preemption” which says federal law and federal regulations supersede state laws, but some are now moving forward. Dozens of patients, including many children, died by suicide or suffered from neuropsychiatric problems after taking Singulair, Merck’s allergy and asthma medication, according to lawsuits that are finally proceeding, after decades of delays and legal challenges, Reuters reported. Merck is accused of downplaying early evidence of Singulair’s impact on the brain. These claims “later faced intense scrutiny,” leading to “a raft of lawsuits alleging [Merck] knew … that the drug could impact the brain and that it minimized the potential for psychiatric problems in statements to regulators.” Singulair, also known as montelukast, is available to adults and children as a medication for severe allergies and asthma.

A veteran biology professor in Texas who has been teaching that sex is determined by X and Y chromosomes for over 20 years was allegedly fired after four students walked out of his classroom. Dr. Johnson Varkey has claimed he was let go from his teaching position at St. Philip’s College in San Antonio after he was accused of ‘religious preaching’. He was discussing the human reproductive system on November 28, 2022, when four students stormed out of the lecture. Varkey was then accused of ‘discriminatory comments about homosexuals and transgender individuals, anti-abortion rhetoric, and misogynistic banter’.
The professor said he received an email from the Alamo Colleges District Human Resources department in January, which said his credentials would be revoked pending an investigation. He was later fired.

Writing for the Daily Caller about the fate of such executives, Henry Rodgers cited ” a source inside Anheuser-Busch confirmed in texts obtained by the Daily Caller on Tuesday” in his report. Such executives had already taken leave in April. The latest BMA announcement means that the National Health Service faces more damaging industrial action as consultants join junior doctors in walking out, putting at risk Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s promise to get waiting lists down. His spokesman, Max Blain, on Tuesday told reporters that strikes since December caused some 600,000 appointments to be delayed.

- When the Swedish media wrote about the connection between the European Palestinians Conference and Hamas, however, MPs, one by one, began withdrawing from the conference — although, notably, without distancing themselves from Hamas.
- As Hamas is classified as a terrorist organization within the European Union and therefore also within Sweden, it would of course be embarrassing for these gentlemen to admit that they were prepared to participate in a conference with connections to Hamas, and that they only refrained because of negative media attention.
- The MP who did not withdraw… was Social Democratic Party MP Jamal El-Haj, who represents Malmö in parliament. El-Haj, who has Palestinian roots, has sat in parliament since 2016, and has a history of repulsive statements and activism concerning the Israel-Palestine issue.
