Some of the charges carry jail sentences of 14 years and/or a $10,000 fine. At issue is something called a form FD-1023, an FBI document that is said to “memorialize a confidential human source’s conversations with a foreign national who claimed to have bribed then-Vice President Joe Biden,” in the words of Kentucky Republican Rep. James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee. That FBI confidential human source, Comer continued, was no fly-by-night character. Instead, he was a “trusted” source who has worked with the FBI “for over 10 years” and was paid “over $200,000” for his work during that time. “This is one of our highest-paid, most trusted, most respected, most effective FBI informants in the whole bureau,” Comer told Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo on June 15. In other words, it was a serious allegation from a serious source. Yet the FBI, Comer said, “never did one single thing to investigate this.” […] . . . while the FBI excluded IRS investigators in looking at the FD-1023 form, it was happy to include nearly everybody else. “Potentially hundreds of Justice Department and FBI officials have had access to the FD-1023 at issue,” Grassley wrote, “which begs the question that I’ve been asking since the start of my oversight in this matter: what steps have the Justice Department and FBI taken to investigate the allegations? The Supreme Court may soon weigh in on Mountain Valley Pipeline developers’ request to vacate a federal court’s order to halt construction on the project, which developers argue conflicts with a law Congress passed guaranteeing its completion. Developers of the natural gas pipeline filed an emergency application Friday with Chief Justice John Roberts, who handles petitions from the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, asking the Supreme Court to allow the project to continue. The Fourth Circuit sided with environmental groups challenging the pipeline and temporarily halted the project last week, an order the developers argue “flew in the face” of Congress’ command.

Illinois is set to become the first state in the nation to end cash bail after the state Supreme Court ruled that a landmark state law did not violate its constitution. A provision in the state’s controversial SAFE-T Act was set to end cash bail on Jan. 1, but it was met with legal action from prosecutors and sheriffs in dozens of counties who said the law was unconstitutional, diminished public safety and put law enforcement at risk. For McConnell, Murkowski is another beholden senator kept securely in his pocket who will vote how he wants on any given day. That might not be so bad (except for the good people of Alaska, whom she purportedly represents) if McConnell were not also an aristocrat who routinely betrays Republican voters. However, because his loyalties lie with President Xi, multinational corporations, the World Economic Forum, and his good friend Joe Biden, China Mitch uses the leash around Murkowski’s neck only when he needs help sticking it to the American people. And oh, how Senate Republicans love to screw over the American people! I mention this person because she and other backstabbing Senate Republicans (think John Cornyn, Mitt Romney, John Thune, etc.) got together to do their version of Festivus in July, during which they told The Hill how much they absolutely loathe normal Republican voters. “[O]ur party is becoming known as a group of kind of extremist, populist, over-the-top [people] where no one is taking us seriously anymore,” Murkowski laments. On Tuesday, Joe Biden met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog at the White House in an attempt to smooth over what has been a rough relationship with the long-time American ally. Unfortunately, Biden began to deteriorate rapidly during their joint presser in the Oval Office. As the press corps looked on, the US president’s head drooped down dramatically and his speaking became incoherent. Biden begins by claiming that he brought Israelis and Palestinians together on a political level. On that front, I have no idea what he’s talking about. The relationship between the two sides is as bad as it has been since the aftermath of the Yom Kippur War. For its part, the Biden administration has done everything it can to alienate the Israelis despite continued acts of terrorism from the Palestinian territories. To say that Biden has brought the two sides together is just laughably false.

Iger seems to think that slowing the release of any new Marvel and Star war projects as well as focusing on quality and lower production costs is the elixir that the company needs. Thiede: Train derails near Cook in St. Louis County
