The Biden administration is very worried about acute carbon monoxide poisoning, so much so that they are publishing a rule that would ban the sale of nearly all current gas generators on the market. The new rule would force generator manufacturers to create generators that switch off when they reach a certain carbon monoxide output. […] Smaller gas generators would have to cut carbon monoxide emissions by 50 percent, and larger generators would have to cut emissions by up to 95 percent. Nearly all models currently available are expected to not be in compliance with the new standard. Once the proposed rules come into effect, manufacturers would have to comply with them in just six months, a process that usually takes several years. […] There is no way this rule will fly without being challenge in the courts because it’s ridiculous on its face. Acute carbon monoxide poisoning??? C’mon. Gas-powered generators aren’t supposed to be run indoors because of their output and heat they generate, which is why nearly everyone uses their generators outside, where there is ZERO danger of carbon monoxide poisoning. I just can’t see a rule like this surviving legal challenges.

Durden: Endurance Of Electric Vehicles Falters In Extreme Heat

Electric vehicles are known to perform sub-optimally in cold weather — if that’s a loss of range and power. A new study has found similar adverse effects when EVs are subjected to scorching temperatures. Auto blog Carscoops first reported that data science company Recurrent tested several EVs to “analyze the relationship between batteries and their range.” Recurrent’s data found that if temperatures rise over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, then the ranges of EVs diminish. Recurrent did not mention which EVs were most impacted when temperatures climbed but said some vehicles experienced a 31% decline in range when temperatures exceeded 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The data is to be taken lightly as more testing needs to be completed, Carscoops said.

This plan makes schools into one-stop shops for families with all kinds of “wrap-around services” like welfare-to-work programs, caregiving, a legal defense fund and foster care, all staffed by government workers. This won’t do anything for students academically, but it certainly does blur the lines of parent and state, which in turn is not good for the sanctity of the parent-child bond. National Education Association president Becky Pringle, who says she wants every school to be a community school, hopes that there will be 25,000 such schools in the U.S. by the time she leaves office in 2026. […] In fact, California has invested $4.1 billion – more than any other state – to support and expand community schools through the California Community Schools Partnership Program. […] Also, in California, school districts across the state are on a recruitment spree, doing what they can to enroll the state’s 4-year-olds into their brand-new pre-K or “transitional kindergarten” (TK) program. Districts are trying to sell parents on TK by using school banners, bus bench ads, billboards, and texting and robo-call campaigns. […] Sacrificing your 4-year-old to this kind of indoctrination is a terrible idea. The word “transitional” – especially nowadays – should serve as a warning.

An Arizona middle school for LGBTQ students funded by state voucher money is set to launch in August, according to the Arizona Republic. The Queer Blended Learning Center housed by one•n•ten, an activist group, is expected to open with half a dozen LGBTQ youth enrolled, according to the Arizona Republic. Those attending the school are able to pay for their tuition using taxpayer-funded vouchers provided through a state program. “We just had this population of sixth, seventh and eighth graders that could really benefit from a safe space to be able to really have exceptional education while also having education that pertains to their own identity,” Clayton Davenport, one•n•ten’s director of development and marketing, told the outlet. “Being able to raise their hands and ask their questions in a safe, affirming environment is going to be key to their mental health and educational advancement.”

[…] When we hear appalling stories like this, we can’t help but wonder what happened to our society. How can human beings commit such heinous acts against children? […] But after more than 50 years of telling people that they can kill the most defenseless person in the world, is it any wonder that this hatred for babies extends to after they are born? Is it any wonder that some parents feel so little love for their offspring and so much love for the worthless things of this world that they could hire a hit man or cage a child?

Mental illness causes them to believe they should be the opposite sex. 2. They suffer a type of despair, in which they fail to see their own inherent value as they were created. Affirming their self-destructive choices is not an act of charity but of cowardice. […] The modern desire for an amoral state is part of the problem. While those on the left have sought (and accomplished) a government that promotes their causes, as seen by the display of the LGBTQ+ flag on government buildings, many on the right seek only a “morally neutral” government. A “morally neutral” government, however, is a mythical creature—as unreal as the amoral man. If it were set up, it would immediately drift to one direction or the other, for it wouldn’t have the moral grounding to resist the current. It’s thus entirely self-defeating. With the complexity of our voting systems, this is no small feat, so there is significant federal support ensuring that election officials have everything needed to perform the appointed task. Our voting systems are designated critical national security infrastructure. Election conduct is therefore dictated by an interwoven tapestry of state and federal laws that protects and records every nexus where data cross into or out of the system. On the federal level, three primary laws come in to play: the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA), the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA), and the Federal Information Security Modernization Act of 2002, rev. 2014 (FISMA). These laws define exact procedures, audit trails, and system controls from registration through certification. The definition of certification is being officially attested or authoritatively confirmed as being genuine or true as represented, or complying with or meeting specified requirements or standards. We have been force-fed the assertion that the 2020 election was the most secure election in history. Many theories have attacked this idea, some compellingly so, but little has changed. A simple question has been overlooked in the noise: when officials certified the federal elections in 2020 and 2022, did certification meet the standard of accuracy and compliance?

Recently, New York Mayor Eric Adams announced that the city has printed thousands of flyers it plans to distribute at the U.S.-Mexico border. The flyer has a simple message to illegal border-crossers: Don’t come to New York. The headline is in all caps: “UPDATES TO ASYLUM-SEEKERS FROM THE CITY OF NEW YORK.” The flyer goes on to say that more than 90,000 migrants have come to the city since April of last year. Now, the handout says, “There is no guarantee we will be able to provide shelter and services to new arrivals.” The flyer goes on to warn, “Housing in NYC is very expensive,” as is the cost of “food, transportation and other necessities.” And then the message: “Please consider another city as you make your decision about where to settle in the U.S.”

Some emphasize that the most of these crimes are low-level victimless offenses, such as loitering or public urination. But others note the disproportionately high level of all crimes, including assaults and homicides, committed by those battling homelessness and mental issues simultaneously. […] Asylums were created for humane ends. The very term implies refuge for those in distress. The idea was to separate the insane, who were innocently afflicted, from the criminals and prostitutes who were then commonly referred to as the “unworthy poor.” Asylums were popular because they provided treatment in isolated settings, far from temptation, while relieving families of their most burdensome members. In October 1963, President John F. Kennedy put his signature to the last bill he would ever sign—the Community Mental Health Act. It aimed to demolish the walled-off world of the asylum in favor of 1,500 local clinics where patients could receive the drugs and therapies they needed. Kennedy had a personal stake in the legislation: On paper, at least, deinstitutionalization seemed both more humane and more likely to succeed. […] Then reality set in. Closing the asylums was the easy part. Getting people to . . .[…] The enormous vacuum created by deinstitutionalization has been a calamity for both the mentally ill and society at large. The role once occupied by the asylum has been transferred to the institutions perhaps least able to deal with mental health issues—prisons and jails.
