A poll from Pew Research Center released last week shows that a majority of Americans don’t value free speech as a fundamental right. When asked whether the government should restrict free speech online as a means of curbing misinformation, 55 percent of Americans said it should. Even worse, 65 percent of Americans believe tech companies should censor misinformation — as though the unelected oligarchs in Silicon Valley are more trustworthy than the elected oligarchs in Washington, D.C. As one might expect, there was a stark difference in responses when they were broken down by political affiliation. Whereas 39 percent of Republicans approved of restricting online speech, 70 percent of Democrats supported the idea, contradicting the “liberal” label that Democrat supporters often use to describe themselves. Writer and journalist Alex Berenson dolefully concluded, “The left — the entire left, readers and writers, consumers and producers of information — is clearly losing confidence in the First Amendment, telling itself a tale of the dangers of too much speech, and trying to wall off opinions and even facts it does not like.” It wasn’t always this way. Only five years ago, 40 percent of Democrat-leaning respondents approved of restricting free speech online, on par with 37 percent of Republican-leaning respondents. Something happened in society that swayed a significant portion of leftist Americans to flip their position on free speech.

The founder of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Klaus Schwab, routinely applauds China’s surveillance State for its capacity to “nudge” citizens toward compliance. While China apologists turn a blind eye to the one-party communist State’s continuing genocides against Christians, Tibetans, Uyghurs, Falun Gong practitioners, and other minorities, they champion the machinery of China’s technocratic totalitarianism as a model for the rest of the world. It is deeply unsettling to see a destroyer of civilizations held up as the future for global civilization.
Schwab’s influential organization seeks to recreate a Chinese system where a small group of elites bark orders and ordinary citizens dutifully obey.
If the WEF were actually interested in projecting Enlightenment ideals, Western liberalism, and democratic norms throughout the globe, that unelected body of aristocrats would be doing everything in its power to convince Chinese leaders of the fundamental importance of freedom of speech, freedom of religion, private property, the rule of law, and respect for privacy. That they do no such thing suggests that the WEF’s loyalties are more aligned with the Chinese Communist Party’s mandarins than Schwab’s ideological followers are willing to advertise.
Given how synchronized the Chinese Communist Party and the World Economic Forum continue to be, it appears that Schwab is more than willing to help China export its totalitarian police State across the globe.

AZFree: Phoenix Wants to Eliminate Parking Spaces in Another Ridiculous Push to Become a 15-Minute City

How much do you like to walk in 110-degree heat? If you’re a resident of the city of Phoenix, you may need to start getting used to it if the city council gets its way. A proposed ordinance in Phoenix is looking to significantly reduce the minimum number of parking spaces it requires for apartments. Currently, Phoenix requires a minimum of 150 parking spaces for every 100 one or two-bedroom apartments. Under the proposed ordinance, that number would decrease to 125 spaces. But that’s not the end of it. For new affordable apartment complexes near light rail stations, the requirement for most would be reduced to zero! Yes. Zero parking spaces at an apartment complex. The letters obtained by Florida’s Voice did not provide a reason why the accounts were suddenly closed. Florida’s Voice reached out to Chase Bank for a response. Employees of a Florida-based retail health company said JP Morgan Chase Bank suddenly terminated their personal and company bank accounts without an explanation. One of the employees believes the account shutdowns were politically motivated and due to their employer’s controversial stance on COVID-19. […] The owner of Mercola Market, Dr. Joseph Mercola, has criticized the COVID-19 vaccines and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Responding to the report, Chase told Florida’s Voice Wednesday that the accounts weren’t closed for political “affiliations.”

The ruling vacates a 4th Circuit Court of Appeals decision earlier this month that halted the completion of the pipeline and called for a review of authorizations by the Bureau of Land Management and Forest Service for the pipeline to be finished. On July 14th, SCOTUS was presented with the Mountain Valley case, wherein justices were asked to overrule “extraordinary” orders by the 4th Circuit to prevent the project from moving forward, according to SCOTUSblog.

DeCamp: US and Allies Preparing to Support an Open-Ended Conflict in Ukraine

The US and its allies are worried that Ukraine’s stalled counteroffensive means the war between Russian and Ukrainian forces will be an open-ended conflict, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. The report said the US was hoping Ukraine would regain some territory and that would pave the way for a negotiated settlement, although the US has discouraged diplomacy throughout the war. “My hope is and my expectation is you’ll see that Ukraine makes significant progress on their offensive and it generates a negotiated settlement somewhere along the line,” President Biden said in Helsinki earlier this month.

But without significant Ukrainian gains, the West is preparing to support the proxy war against Russia for years to come. “The only real response is an industrial mobilization that will give Ukrainians, and the Russians, a clear message that the Ukrainians will always have plenty of what they need,” an unnamed Western diplomat told the Journal.

Fleitz: An America First Approach to End the War in Ukraine

When the former president was asked if he thinks Putin is a war criminal, he replied, “This should be discussed later, and if you say he’s a war criminal, it’s going to be a lot harder to make a deal later to get this thing stopped.” This was followed by the usual attacks on President Trump by Democrats and the press, accusing him of favoring Putin and ignoring the plight of the Ukrainian people. By contrast, Joe Biden has called Putin a killer and a war criminal. Biden also has stated his support for an International Criminal Court warrant to arrest Putin. So who is being more presidential here? The reality is that unless the U.S. is willing to risk nuclear war to depose Putin and remove him from office, President Trump is right that we need to find a way to work with him. The U.S. needs to find a way to live with Putin. This is not an ideal situation, but we have lived with the leaders of adversary states throughout the history of our country.

I also agree with Trump that the focus of American policy for Ukraine should be a cease-fire and starting peace talks. Talking about this does not mean you’re siding with Russia or Putin. It means you are putting the interests and security of our country first. I want to discuss where we are in this conflict before I talk about what U.S. policy should be. […] So what should the U.S. do?

House Bill 4617 defines conversion therapy as “any practice or treatment by a mental health professional that seeks to change an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity, including, but not limited to, efforts to change behavior or gender expression or to reduce or eliminate sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward an individual of the same gender.” This language suggests clinicians and possibly parents who refuse to “affirm” so-called trans kids by dressing boys as girls and using female pronouns for them, and vice versa, could be accused of unlawful activity.

Online ticketing platform Eventbrite recently unpublished two events from Purple for Parents Indiana, an organization fighting to protect children from indoctrination and sexualization in schools. The first event, “RSVP America: Restoring Social Virtue and Purity to America,” exposes the history and agenda behind laws allowing children to be sexualized in schools. Miller said her group used Eventbrite to sell tickets for a previous RSVP America conference. Eventbrite’s decision to unpublish the upcoming conference followed a July 11 Reddit post on the r/Indiana subreddit asking people to “Report a hate group event!”

In news interviews and on social media, Gonell has told his sob story about how violent rioters inflicted debilitating foot, shoulder, and head injuries that day. He routinely posts images of those alleged injuries, including several photos of a foot with stitches and surgical tape and pictures of his ongoing shoulder therapy.
