A Call to Defend and Preserve the First Amendment

Estimated Reading Time: 4 minutes

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances”.

This is the entire First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America. Our Founding Fathers understood how important freedom of speech and freedom of the press is to a free country. They understood this not only because of their personal experiences with the Crown, but also from their deep study of history. The Founding Fathers faced possible execution for what they said because opposition to the king was not allowed. If citizens are not allowed to think and express their thoughts, a nation is not free.

Think about it. Opposition to the king (or ruler of the time) was not allowed. Does it seen as if we have almost gone back to that time? If you are not 110% in agreement with whatever the left is doing at this moment, you are targeted as a racist white supremacist. Take Elon Musk as an example. Musk is in the process of buying Twitter with the intent of promoting and ensuring free speech for everyone on the platform, regardless of political affiliation. He also just announced that, after watching the Democrat party “become the party of division & hate”, he can no longer support it and  will be voting Republican in the 2022 midterms. Isn’t it telling that the CEO and founder of Tesla (an electric car company) has left the party of the “Green New Deal” because of its suppression of free speech and intolerance for diverse points of view? The self-made wealthiest man on earth who makes electric cars for a living and is African American (yes, born and raised in South Africa and now an American!) will be voting Republican this November and has been cast out by the Democrat party and the media. Oh, the irony!

On a more ominous level, the Department of Homeland Security’s Disinformation Governance Board, appropriately nicknamed the ‘Ministry of Truth’ from George Orwell’s book 1984 by opposers of this board, is a direct attack on citizens’ speech, i.e., the First Amendment. The goal of this Ministry of Truth is to “coordinate countering misinformation related to homeland security”. While nobody likes misinformation, who decides what is misinformation? The simple answer is nobody should be allowed to set a single narrative for a free society and nation. Debate should be alive and rigorous allowing truth to surface. While the media has long been deciding what is misinformation and intensely so for the past six years, it is not an established arm of the federal government.

Nina Jankowicz was chosen to head the Ministry of Truth. Jankowicz, a liberal fact-checker (I thought that was a made-up job, but apparently it’s a real thing) who helped to cover up Hunter Biden’s laptop story during the 2020 election cycle. Jankowicz played a role pushing the Trump Russia Collusion hoax in 2016 out to the media. She also posted a video of herself singing about fact-checking on TikTok, in which she called some views or information held by conservatives disinformation. Changing the lyrics to a Mary Poppins song and then singing it on TikTok is silliness and not professional in any way. Ever. Secondly, what happened to the tolerance liberals always preached? Actually, nothing happened to it. It is who it’s granted to – tolerance for them, Ministry of Truth for us.

Thankfully, the American people recognized the threat to the First Amendment posed by the Disinformation Governance Board and responded across the land. The Ministry of Truth was the headline of conservative news outlets for weeks. Millions took to social media and and contacted their legislators to express their outrage. The Ministry has been put on hold, and Nina Jankowicz has resigned. However, the battle is not over. The Department of Homeland Security announced they have appointed former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and former U.S. Deputy General Jamie Gorelick to advise DHS on how they “can garner public trust surrounding its disinformation efforts”. While Chertoff and Gorelick will not be working under the Disinformation Governance Board’s title, their work sounds a lot like what the Board’s mission was. If the government has the audacity to do this, what is next? This is a direct assault on the First Amendment. This obvious violation of our First Amendment rights cannot be allowed. This shows the current government and bureaucracy lack respect for Americans’ constitutional rights. The Executive and Congressional branches think they know best, but We the People actually do and their paychecks come from our pocketbooks, i.e., our taxes. Never forget that they govern by our consent.

The parallels between Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, written in 1931, and our world today are very disturbing. In Huxley’s classic, society is almost always high on drugs, free sex is the norm, children are indoctrinated from birth, and abortion is rampant. Also, those who marry for life and have children are called barbarians and are separated from “decent society”. Instead of nation states, the world is a global nation. You cannot go anywhere to escape its laws and regulations. And that’s just the beginning of a radical and tyrannical power structure with control over everything we do and how we live. Who would want to live in a Brave New World? I don’t. Such a world is predictably godless, miserable and absent of independent thought and action, opposite to the America we know.

The Founding Fathers knew how important free speech is to a free nation because they were being forced to live without freedom of speech. They knew what it was like to be censored. It was dangerous and will become increasingly so today if conservatives do not stand up and fight to protect our First Amendment liberties. Benjamin Franklin said, “Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freeness of speech”. The establishment is trying but, God willing, liberty will prevail for future generations by the actions of all good citizens and patriots of this generation.

Cancel Culture in Action: Wrecking Peoples Lives in Retaliation

Estimated Reading Time: 5 minutes

Let’s face it:  free speech for California’s teachers and educators is dead.  If you are a teacher or guidance counselor in California and make an internet posting that happens to offend students, teachers, and/or administrators who make up the woke mob, you may very well lose your job.  The truth of what you wrote makes no difference to the free speech-haters.  Indeed, the greater the truth, the greater the amount of hatred it’s likely to draw from the mob.  If you doubt this, look no further than the case of Patricia Crawford, formerly a guidance counselor at Rubidoux High School (“RHS”) in southern California.  This case, more so than many, illustrates the total depravity and evil of Cancel Culture.

On February 16, 2017, a host of RHS students skipped school (itself a violation of norms and, technically, truancy) to attend a protest in support of “A Day Without Immigrants.”  The protest was part of a nationwide boycott against President Trump’s immigration policies.  Together with other students who skipped school without necessarily attending the protest, they made up about one-quarter of the entire student body.

RHS was an overcrowded school and, not surprisingly, the absence of one-quarter of the students made it less so.  A teacher emailed the staff about the high rate of absences.  Patricia Crawford emailed back:  “The PROFESSIONAL staff members and SERIOUS students are here today, boycott be darned.”

Later that same day, RHS teacher Geoffrey Greer posted on Facebook that he was uncertain whether the missing workers “had the intended impact or sent the desired message.”  He went on to comment that attendance in the classes he taught was down by 50 percent and proved “how much better things might be without this overcrowding.”  He concluded by stating that “that’s what you get when you jump on some sort of bandwagon cause as an excuse to be lazy and/or get drunk.  Best school day ever.”

Ms. Crawford commented on Greer’s post as follows:  “Cafeteria was much cleaner after lunch, lunch, itself, went quicker, less traffic on the roads and no discipline issues today.  More, please.”  Note the likely truth of these comments:  if attendance was down by one-quarter, it stands to reason that lunch would go quicker and there would be less traffic on the roads.  If students routinely left some trash around, the mere fact of fewer students would imply less trash (with no implication that those who skipped school were any dirtier than their counterparts who chose to follow the rules and attend school).  Discipline issues could be determined based upon the school’s records, but, again, if discipline issues arose equally per capita among those who boycotted and those who did not, fewer students would imply fewer discipline issues.

The Facebook exchanges continued.  Several students responded on Facebook to these two posts, expressing that “many students are taking these comments in a negative way.”  One student wrote that Crawford’s remarks were “very, very disappointing.”  Crawford defended herself as follows:  “Disappointing is to think that some of my students still don’t get it about education.  Staff members who are sympathetic to the cause were at school today.  The kids who care were there . . .   What I saw today was more proof, just like last year, that boycotts, especially of education, aren’t the answer.  It just keeps the ones who need it the most as useful fools.”  Finally, she wrote on Facebook “My post was meant to be snarky.  Get over yourselves.”

It was for this exercise by Patricia Crawford of her free speech rights that the Jurupa Unified School District sought to have her fired.  The stated basis for the dismissal was that she had engaged in “immoral conduct” by writing the things quoted above.  She was placed on administrative leave the next day, February 17, 2017.  In May 2017, the District informed her that it intended to fire her.  An organization named the “Commission on Professional Competence of the Jurupa Unified School District” heard Crawford’s appeal against the District’s decision and ruled in the District’s favor.

If you are shocked to learn that the Commission and the District would regard telling the truth as “immoral conduct,” you will be even more shocked to learn that the District’s and the Commission’s rulings were upheld in the California Superior Court and the California Court of Appeal.

The new definition of “immoral conduct” for educators in California is this:  anything written on Facebook or other social media that happens to offend the woke mob or the media and draws their negative comments.  Effectively, the woke mob and the media have been given the power to strip California teachers and educators of their guaranteed First Amendment free speech rights.

What is most noteworthy about the Court of Appeal’s decision is that nowhere in the Court’s opinion is there any discussion about whether what Crawford wrote was true.  One reads the opinion in vain for any discussion about whether it was true that the cafeteria was cleaner after lunch, whether lunch went quicker or whether there was less traffic on the roads.  In this new Orwellian world, truth is no defense.  And to be sure, that makes sense in a twisted sort of way.  If you had publicly written in Nazi Germany that Hitler was a murdering tyrant, the Gestapo would pay you a visit and your new home, if you were not immediately shot out of hand, would have been a concentration camp.  Arguments to the Gestapo that it was true that Hitler was a murderous tyrant most certainly would have been unavailing.  Here in California, the truth of social media postings is no more defense for educators than truth was a defense in Nazi Germany.

So if the truth was not even the slightest bit relevant in determining whether Crawford had engaged in immoral conduct, what was relevant?  What, precisely, was the immoral conduct?

The District received 51 emails complaining about Crawford’s Facebook posts, she herself received 10, and nearly 40 people complained at a District Board meeting held on February 21, 2017.  There is no indication any of these emails or complaints addressed the truth or falsity of Crawford’s postings; they appear to have expressed only outrage and anger.  Additionally, Crawford’s postings drew widespread negative attention in the media at the time, and this was considered to have bolstered the case for a finding of immoral conduct.  Crawford’s allegedly “immoral conduct” was making postings on Facebook that (1) were in all likelihood either true or an expression of her opinion and (2) happened to offend students, teachers, and members of the media.

There was indeed immoral conduct in this case, but it was not the immoral conduct found by the august body of Solons that calls itself “the Commission on Professional Competence.”  The immoral conduct was that of those who had as their objective the destruction of Patricia Crawford’s First Amendment rights.

This is the new world in which we live, a world where the totalitarian Left and their apparatchiks in government seek to ruin the lives of those who oppose their vision of an Orwellian future for the United States of America.  Other parts of their sinister program are to eliminate the Electoral College, pack the Supreme Court, make the District of Columbia a state, bring in hordes of immigrants who they hope will vote for them, and allow teachers to groom young children without fear of prosecution for child abuse.  To say that we fought the American Revolution to get rid of people like this would be an overstatement, because in truth and fact the British who ruled colonial America were not even close to being as evil as today’s woke mob.

What must be clearly understood is that the Cancel Culture’s minions are not merely people with a different point of view, any more than the murderous Bolsheviks or Nazis were merely people with a different point of view.  To the contrary, they are evil human beings who would do much worse things to us if they could.  During the French Revolution, people who spoke the truth like Patricia Crawford were guillotined, and during the Bolshevik Revolution they were shot or sent to the Gulag.

Although these events occurred about five years ago, it would be a mistake to think things have changed.  Indeed, they have only gotten worse.  The Biden Administration has established a new Ministry of Truth entitled the “Disinformation Governance Board.”  How long will it be before goose-stepping, jack-booted thugs wearing badges and uniforms will knock on your door because of something you wrote on the internet?  Across the pond, Breitbart News reports that the left-wing mayor of Liverpool, England asserts that advertisements on public transit promoting an appearance by the Reverend Franklin Graham constitute “hate speech” and should be removed.  And what do these allegedly hate-filled ads say?  They say “God Loves You Too.”

20 AGs Demand Mayorkas Disband Disinformation Board, Threaten Legal Action

Estimated Reading Time: 3 minutes

Twenty attorneys general are demanding that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas “immediately disband” the agency’s newly created Disinformation Governance Board and “cease all efforts to police Americans’ protected speech.”

In a letter dated May 5, they argue the board is unconstitutional, illegal, and un-American. If Mayorkas doesn’t shut it down, the AGs say they will sue.

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares led the coalition of attorneys general from Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia.

They expressed alarm after learning of the board after Mayorkas announced its creation in his testimony before the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security.

“No statutory authority exists to support your creation of a board of government censors,” the attorney’s general wrote. “Although Congress has considered a variety of measures to address the perceived dangers of ‘disinformation’ in the United States, none has passed.

“Instead, while the people’s elected representatives continue to debate this issue, you have arrogated to yourself the power to address it without congressional authorization, despite the far-reaching effects of the Disinformation Governance Board on Americans and our political process,” they add.

Having a federal board slap a “federal-government label of ‘disinformation’ or ‘misinformation’ on speech that government bureaucrats, operating behind closed doors, decree to be improper” is “an unacceptable and downright alarming encroachment on every citizen’s right to express his or her opinions, engage in political debate and disagree with the government,” they wrote.

“Your censorship will not drown out misinformation; it will suppress the lawful speech of well-meaning but unpopular speakers, and it will turn bad actors into martyrs with far more influence than if you simply allowed ‘more speech’ to combat their alleged misinformation,” they warned.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who signed the letter, said, “I will not allow the Biden Administration to continue to erode our democracy by silencing millions of people in defiance of our Constitution and First Amendment freedoms and deny every American the right to be heard. You cannot simply label as ‘disinformation’ all speech you disagree with or find politically damaging to your cause and expect the American people to tolerate the government telling them what they can think or say.”

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, who also signed the letter, said, “President Biden is attempting to confuse and distort legitimate criticism and the perspective of American citizens. This authoritarian maneuver could be straight out of the novel 1984 and should frighten Americans of all political persuasions.”

The AGs also expressed alarm over the board’s new director, Nina Jankowicz, pointing to erroneous claims she’s made while labeling others as “ dis-informers” and “information launderers.”

Jankowicz previously claimed that Hunter Biden’s laptop was “the product of a foreign disinformation campaign,” which was later proven to be false. She asserted that the coronavirus lab leak in China was “invented because it was ‘politically convenient for Trump,’” even though the U.S. intelligence community “now assesses that this theory may very well be correct,” they write. She also “even praised Christopher Steele, the discredited author of the infamous false ‘dossier’ about President Trump, and one of the most notable peddlers of disinformation in recent memory,” they add.

“It would be amusing that a self-proclaimed expert in disinformation like Ms. Jankowicz has proven to be so bad at identifying it, except that you have placed her in charge of doing so on behalf of the United States government,” they argue.

AG Miyares also it’s extremely troubling that Jankowicz described parents in Loudoun County, Virginia, as “‘disinformers’ engaged in ‘disinformation for profit’” simply because they don’t want their children taught Critical Race Theory.

DHS published a fact sheet about the board, calling it an internal working group with a stated purpose of “protecting free speech and other fundamental rights when addressing disinformation that threatens the security of the United States.”

DHS said it’s focused on “disinformation that threatens the security of the American people, including disinformation spread by foreign states such as Russia, China, and Iran, or other adversaries such as transnational criminal organizations and human smuggling organizations. Such malicious actors often spread disinformation to exploit vulnerable individuals and the American public, including during national emergencies.”

It also states the working group will be coordinating with “other federal agencies and a diverse range of external stakeholders.”

A bipartisan Homeland Security Advisory Council co-chaired by former U.S. Deputy Attorney General Jamie Gorelick and former DHS Secretary under the George W. Bush administration, Michael Chertoff, will also offer recommendations according to the fact sheet.

Biden’s Orwellian “Truth Ministry”

Estimated Reading Time: 3 minutes

Challenging economic times are bringing out the worst in the Biden administration, which has turned desperate to the point of overtly undermining the First Amendment rights of those with whom they disagree. This pernicious trend has been acute in the climate change and Covid issues, and it is accelerating.

The Biden administration’s creation of a “Disinformation Governance Board” in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has made a modern-day reality in the United States stranger than fiction. Indeed, this Board will serve as a real-life “Ministry of Truth” as described by author George Orwell in his famous book1984.

Incredibly, in a recent agency bulletin entitled, the Terrorism Threat to the U.S. Homeland, the DHS subjectively describes terrorism to include “an online environment filled with false or misleading narratives and conspiracy theories and other forms of mis- dis- and mal-information (MDM).”

Yes, Biden DHS bureaucrats really wrote that, including the “MDM” acronym that now belongs in the same category as the 911 attacks.

The new director of this Board, a woman named Nina Jankowicz, makes this story more bizarre to the point of parody. The Biden White House and DHS surely saw the same cringe-worthy videos we viewed, including the one of Ms. Jankowicz embarrassing herself by imitating “Mary Poppins” – yet they appointed her anyway. The fact that her recent past also has been one of partisan dishonesty in advancing the Russia collusion hoax and other false narratives confirms the whole initiative is a political farce and dangerous.

If President Joe Biden and his insidious bureaucracy prevail with this blatant assault on freedom of speech, the First Amendment will become a dead letter since this abridgment will not stop with expression.

Freedom of the press has long become mostly a joke, with the major networks and media outlets willingly transforming themselves into propaganda arms of the Biden administration (and Obama’s previously). That’s not just the malicious Joy Reid or buffoonish Brian Stelter on cable news. That also means you, Nora O’Donnell, David Muir, and Lester Holt; the New York Times, Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post, and other once-serious news journals. They willingly manipulate objective news and science to favor the Biden agenda in Washington, especially by skewing climate change realities – or ignoring facts and science that question that agenda.

There remains a substantial non-conformist media and Internet presence of alternative news and opinion. But for how long when a federal department with “security” in its title takes aim? And what of the other First Amendment freedoms of assembly and religion?

If the Biden administration’s overt attack on freedom of speech is not defunded and stopped, other freedoms will fall like dominos. Already, houses of worship across the country were forcibly closed under the guise of public health during the height of Covid-19. It can happen again.

Politicians and their government speech police trying to curtail the rights and freedom of individuals as a means of preserving and increasing their own power. Perpetuating a false climate change narrative – that humanity itself faces an imminent and existential threat – is a primary way government officials expand their power to direct the economy and society.

Accordingly, dissenters of the man-made global warming narratives must be censored and silenced, especially as the economy spirals downward.

The Biden policies to raise the cost of energy at the gas pump and to heat and cool your home were deliberate and designed to force the nation onto so-called “renewable” wind and solar projects and electric vehicles. But the public is increasingly fed up with higher gas prices and their ripple effect on skyrocketing grocery bills and every other commodity and service.

With inflation running at 8.5 percent in the last 12 months and likely climbing to double-digits, the Biden administration’s climate narrative and accompanying anti-energy policies are becoming way more difficult to inflict on the public.

Rather than take concrete steps to ease inflation by expanding domestic energy production and scaling back on massive new government spending, the administration is raising the stakes by making unprecedented attempts at societal control with the creation of its own Truth Ministry.

Never mind that the President of the United States has the largest bully pulpit in the world. Except, our 79-year-old chief executive can barely read what is scrolled in front of him, much less articulate a coherent response to a simple question, including from pliant media.

And forget the fact that the president’s spokespersons, including daily fabulist Jen Psaki and every cabinet member, can advance a political and media narrative.

Evidently, they’ve determined that their own speech is not enough for them to retain government power to fulfill socialist fantasies for the nation. Contrary narratives and pushback from the public – especially on climate policy – must be combatted by any means necessary.

President Biden’s Disinformation Governance Board is anathema to the U.S. Constitution and has no place in a free society with guaranteed inalienable rights. The Board’s brazen existence and purpose to censor opposing voices and squash dissent make it a threat to the liberty of all Americans, regardless of one’s views of climate change or any other political issue.

6 Dystopian Things Biden’s ‘Disinformation Board’ Pick Nina Jankowicz Has Done

Estimated Reading Time: 4 minutes

Nina Jankowicz wants to police memes, but is totally cool with lies fabricated by the Clinton campaign to take down Trump.

Mere days after eccentric billionaire Elon Musk’s buyout of Twitter sent the political censors into a tizzy, the Biden administration debuted a “Disinformation Governance Board” to crack down on online speech the White House doesn’t like. The proposed agency, which would fall under the Department of Homeland Security, already merits the comparisons many have drawn to George Orwell’s “ministry of truth,” but Joe Biden’s appointment of Nina Jankowicz to be the board’s executive director makes the hackery even more obvious.

Here are six of the most dystopian things Jankowicz — whom DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas ridiculously called “absolutely” politically neutral — has ever said or done.

Shortly after The New York Post broke inflammatory news of damning emails and photos on a laptop belonging to then-presidential candidate Joe Biden’s son Hunter, Jankowicz aided the coordinated effort by legacy media and Big Tech to quash the story right before the election.

The Associated Press (among many other outlets) pooh-poohed the explosive news, citing Jankowicz’s input to claim “disinformation experts say there are multiple red flags that raise doubts about their authenticity, including questions about whether the laptop actually belongs to Hunter Biden.”

“We should view it as a Trump campaign product,” Jankowicz told the AP.

More than a year later, even corporate outlets including both The New York Times and The Washington Post quietly, grudgingly admitted the laptop is indeed real. In other words, the woman tapped to lead Biden’s disinformation Gestapo has herself engaged in textbook disinformation.

2. Her Creepy Mary Poppins Disinformation Song

In February 2021, Jankowicz posted a very weird video on TikTok singing about so-called disinformation to the tune of an iconic “Mary Poppins” song.

“Information laundering is really quite ferocious. It’s when a huckster takes some lies and makes them sound precocious, by saying them in Congress or a mainstream outlet, so disinformation’s origins are slightly less atrocious,” she sang in the bizarre jingle.

3. That Time She Called for Censoring Memes

“The biggest challenge in identifying this content both for our team and for platforms is what we’ve dubbed ‘malign creativity’ — the coded language, memes, and context-based content which allow harmful posts to avoid detection,” Jankowicz tweeted in a thread about the content she thinks needs more censoring.

A related report she co-authored went so far as to claim that “malign creativity,” including “iterative, context-based visual and textual memes,” is “the greatest obstacle to detecting and enforcing against online gendered abuse and disinformation.”

4. When She Suggested Using Cops to Police Online Speech

Discussing “online abuse” toward women in an April interview, Jankowicz insisted, “We need to at least upskill police officers and local law enforcement to deal with these things and perhaps start some collaboration.”

“In the UK, they’re looking at making the content that they call ‘awful, but lawful’ illegal,” she continued. “I think we need to think about that as well, because again, going back to the comparative situation, if I were walking down the street and there were a bunch of men yelling these slurs at me, the police would intervene, I could get a restraining order against these people who are coming back, again and again, to say these things to me. Online, that just doesn’t exist yet. So I’m hopeful for that architecture to come into play.”

5. When She Sang Praises for The Russia Disinformation Hoax’s Christopher Steele

In August 2020, Jankowicz tweeted about what a great authority Christopher Steele was on disinformation.

“Listened to this last night- Chris Steele (yes THAT Chris Steele) provides some great historical context about the evolution of disinfo. Worth a listen,” she tweeted about a podcast appearance.

Steele is the infamous ex-MI6 agent who was hired in 2016 by FusionGPS (which was hired by Perkins Coie, the law firm representing Hilary Clinton’s presidential campaign) to manufacture a collection of sensational lies about then-candidate Donald Trump, which became known as the Steele dossier. The dossier was then peddled to the FBI and various media outlets, and serves as the basis for years of false slanders about Trump via the Russia collusion hoax.

Jankowicz’s praise of Steele is just one more instance of her support for actual disinformation when it fits her agenda. She wants to police Twitter memes, but is totally cool with lies fabricated by a Democrat presidential candidate’s campaign to take down her opponent and choke his presidency.

6. When She Called Insulting Kamala Harris a Threat to Democracy

“I wrote about the online gendered abuse I experienced, and the attacks we tracked against
@KamalaHarris, @AOC, @IlhanMN, & more,” Jankowicz wrote on Twitter, referring to an article she wrote for Wired. “Platforms and governments aren’t doing enough. It’s time to act. Our national security and democracy are at stake.”

It’s certainly unpleasant when cowardly people choose to tear down others for no good reason from behind a computer screen. But you don’t have to defend any actually malicious comments about Democrats like Kamala Harris to remember that the same media types whining now have hurled countless and inexcusable slander at Republican women like Sarah Palin without batting an eye. Double standard aside, online insults are hardly the biggest national security threat to America today.

But with or without her, the proposed agency is just as dystopian as it sounds — and any Americans who value the First Amendment should speak out against it while they still can.

Critics Raise Alarm Over New DHS ‘Speech Police’

Estimated Reading Time: 2 minutes

Critics have raised the alarm after the Department of Homeland Security announced the creation of a new federal board that will monitor and combat speech it deems “disinformation.”

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas spoke about the “Disinformation Governance Board” while testifying before Congress this week. Mayorkas called disinformation a “threat” that needs to be addressed with federal law enforcement power. DHS has pointed to disinformation given to migrants as well as Russian disinformation.

“The goal is to bring the resources of (DHS) together to address this threat,” he said.

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., posted a video on Twitter saying the “Soviet-style censorship agency” is evidence that “the Marxist left is coming after your most basic constitutional rights.

“A lot of people don’t know this, but the Department of Homeland Security just set up a new office that’s going to be a speech police,” Rubio said. “They’re basically going to be focused on misinformation … so instead of the Department of Homeland Security focused on stopping drugs from coming into America or securing the border, stopping illegal immigration, they’re not going to be focused on that. They’re focused on policing speech, on making sure that people cannot share information or say things that they decide is misinformation.

“Guys it’s time to wake up,” he added. “If you don’t think these people are coming after free speech. If you don’t think they are … coming after freedom, you better believe it now.”

Those concerns were heightened when news broke that Nina Jankowicz announced online that she would be “serving in the Biden Administration [DHS] and helping shape our counter-disinformation efforts.” Jankowicz worked as a global fellow at the Wilson Center where her research focused on disinformation.

Critics quickly pointed to Jankowicz’s remarks about the Hunter Biden laptop story and disinformation. The laptop story has become a focal point in the debate over censorship, particularly on social media, as evidence has increasingly verified many parts of that story that was labeled as misinformation and censored by mainstream and social media in the weeks before the 2020 presidential election.

“Back on the ‘laptop from hell,’ apparently – Biden notes 50 former natsec officials and 5 former CIA heads that believe the laptop is a Russian influence op,” she wrote on Twitter during the 2020 presidential campaign.

After taking criticism this week, Jankowicz defended her remarks.

“For those who believe this tweet is a key to all my views, it is simply a direct quote from both candidates during the final presidential debate,” she said. “If you look at my timeline, you will see I was livetweeting that evening.”

The DHS plan comes just days after billionaire Elon Musk has all but secured the purchase of Twitter. Musk has emphasized the need to restore free speech to the platform, calling it a modern “town square” for our democracy.

Notably, Twitter censored the Hunter Biden story during the last presidential election.

‘Who Do I F*ck To Be Famous And Powerful?’: Video Resurfaces Of Biden’s ‘Minister Of Truth’ Singing About Getting To The Top

Estimated Reading Time: 2 minutes

Editors’ Note: We object in the most strenuous terms to the illegal idea of this Federal agency overseeing “truth.” It is a direct violation of the Constitution which applies to government as in “Congress shall make no law…” in the First Amendment. The amendment in the Bill of Rights is specifically a restriction on the government’s suppression of free speech. It is even worse because this new office is created out of whole cloth by a Federal Agency with the intention of interfering with political speech, without any Congressional input, hearings, funding, or citizen input. To add considerable insult to massive injury, Biden has further nominated a woman to head this agency who appears to be a complete psychopath. She does not appear to have the intellect, maturity, temperament, or personality to be in charge of any substantive agency, even if its functions are legal. For those who cherish liberty and the Constitution, this outrage requires immediate action. We cannot relent until this entire idea and agency are scrapped. This is the hill to die on. Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas has violated the law in so many ways that he should be promptly impeached and most of this agency disbanded. We must demand our representatives stand up on this issue now.

President Joe Biden’s new head of the Department of Homeland Security’s Disinformation Governance Board, Nina Jankowicz, appeared to sing a parody song about who to “fuck” in order to be “famous and powerful” in a resurfaced video.

“Who do I fuck to be famous and powerful? I’ve done everything I can and now the rest is up to you,” she appeared to add.

The song was an edited version of “My Simple Christmas Wish (Rich, Famous, and Powerful)” by David Friedman, according to the outlet. The lyrics in her version were edited to include “Who do I fuck” instead of “who do I have to fake.”

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced the creation of the Disinformation Governance Board on Wednesday to combat misinformation before the 2022 midterm elections, Fox News reported. (RELATED: ‘I Don’t Have Any Information’: Fox News Reporter Presses Psaki On Biden’s New Minister Of Truth Being Biased)

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Friday Jankowicz is an “expert on online disinformation” and was “formerly a disinformation fellow at the Wilson center,” as well as an adviser to the Ukrainian foreign minister, among other positions.

“This is a person with extensive qualifications,” Psaki added.

Jankowicz also posted a singing video in February calling herself the “Mary Poppins of disinformation.”
