Daily News Roundup

J.B. Shurk contributor to American Thinker: To stop the massive election fraud built into U.S. election systems, people must realize that most of the fraud is government-sponsored, supported, or tolerated.

Matthew G. Andersson contributor to American Thinker: COVID-related damages may be the next large-scale, long-term litigation project that rivals tobacco and asbestos.  The lawyers in the modern university system know that and have effectively put out a gag order to avoid university self-incrimination.  But the best legal strategy they possess is to push the same COVID explanations, while actually escalating their commitment to them.

Robin Appleby MD tweeted on 1/5/23: Now the FDA is Claiming It DIDN’T PROHIBIT Ivermectin for COVID-19… Does their LYING never cease…?  I tried to get Ivermection & HCQ for my ER Nurse son who was treating hundreds of Covid Patients…and was REFUSED at every pharmacy…

Miranda Sellick contributor to RAIR: Ivermectin, explains Dr. Shoemaker, stops the rouleaux formation, which means that it stops the red blood cells from rolling up on themselves and turning into tubes, which are effectively tiny blockages to the heart and lung vessels. When the rouleaux formations are broken up by Ivermectin, difficulty with respiration diminishes. It also helps with the more serious blood clots in larger vessels. “It’s the only drug with the five-star gold standard of effectiveness in the world,” says Dr. Shoemaker. “Hydroxychloroquine has four-and-a-half-star effectiveness. It’s darn good, too. It’s not quite so good in the late stages of covid. The one thing that is guaranteed to harm you in ICU is Remdesivir. It is virtually a lethal medication when given to covid patients.”

Brian C. Joondeph, M.D. contributor to American Thinker: America has the best and most innovative medical care in the world. Woe to this noble profession if politics, fear, and censorship replace questioning, challenging, and discovery.

Paul E. Scates contributor to American Thinker: The philosophy of relativism claims that all truth is relative, and that there is no such thing as absolute truth.  (Of course, if relativism is true, then based on its own principle it can be dismissed as merely “relative truth,” and is therefore meaningless.  If, however, it’s posited as an absolute truth that applies to all things, people, time and places… then it’s an absolute truth, and gives the lie to the idea that truth is relative!  Yes, parents, such is the “education” you’re paying for your children to receive in the hallowed halls of academia.)

Sundance contributor to The Last Refuge: This is why I do not watch Fox News puppets much. Their production group is a functional set of background puppeteers. This is also why Fox News host Tucker Carlson produces and directs his own show from outside the system, just like Lou Dobbs used to. Tucker Carlson Tonight is essentially a podcast distributed by broadcast media.

Dougherty: Iraq’s High Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Trump Over Killing of Iranian Commander

Iraq’s Supreme Court has issued an arrest warrant for former President Donald Trump over the death of Iran’s Quds Force commander, Gen. Qasem Soleimani, on Iraqi soil, according to a state-run media outlet based in Baghdad. Iraqi News noted that “President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zaidan, announced on Thursday the issuance of an arrest warrant for former U.S. President Donald Trump.” The warrant is also for the killing of the then-Iraqi militia leader, chief of staff of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in Iraq.

Margolis: Sources: Donald Trump Was Instrumental in McCarthy’s Victory

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) was finally elected Speaker of the House in the 15th round of voting, which began shortly before midnight EST Friday night. And according to one report, McCarthy has Donald Trump to thank for it. Sources told Breitbart News that McCarthy’s election as speaker was facilitated by a compromise reached with the help of former President Donald J. Trump. One source was Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the incoming chair of the House Judiciary Committee. “This doesn’t get done without the support and leadership of President Trump,” he told Breitbart. Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) also said that Trump “has played a nice part” in the negotiations that finally saw McCarthy win the gavel.

Kimball: The New McCarthyism

My own take is that McCarthy is an unreliable ally for those on the Right. He was only too happy to shovel billions of your and your children’s money to Ukraine while doing little to secure our southern border. McCarthy is from California, so, naturally, he likes to spend money. He even got behind such improvident and mendacious schemes as raiding Medicare to pay for the U.S. Postal Service. He was happy to fund the January 6 kangaroo court, grant amnesty to illegal immigrants, and support mandates for the useless—indeed, dangerous—COVID vaccine for the military. In plain terms, his voting record is only intermittently conservative. Kevin McCarthy, in short, is a swamp creature masquerading as a swamp critic. The Swamp loves its own, and so it was no surprise that McCarthy eventually prevailed, just barely. He did so at considerable cost to the power of the speaker’s office but also considerable benefit to people who care about accountability. McCarthy had to make many concessions to his vociferous opponents in order to entice enough of them to his side (or in the case of a couple, to absent themselves from the House so that McCarthy could win with fewer than 218 votes).

Sundance: Suggested Roadmap For 118th Congress Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government

As previously noted, the 118th Congress is expected to authorize a “Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.”   The subcommittee will fall under the jurisdiction of the House Judiciary Committee led by Chairman Jim Jordan.   Additionally, Thomas Massie (R-KY) is being reported as a representative under consideration for the chairmanship the House subcommittee. In order to avoid another complete waste of time; and considering the background of the current political dynamic which will surround this subcommittee; and considering my accurate predictions for all other special committees and House investigations; and considering that I have ZERO optimism that this committee will generate anything any different than the prior investigative sub and select-committees that preceded it (Fast and Furious, IRS Targeting, Benghazi, etc.); and with full understanding of the complexity of the daunting challenge such an undertaking would require; I have been asked to outline an actual roadmap for success in this noble endeavor. So, I will….  Even if I believe it is futile. […]  Specifically, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI), and every Republican member therein, including SSCI Vice-Chairman Marco Rubio, will make it their priority mission to block any investigation that touches on how the intelligence apparatus of the United States government is weaponized against the people.   The SSCI facilitated the creation of the National Security State, and any effort to investigate the outcome will make the House investigators mortal enemies to the Senate.[…]  Every member of the subcommittee and their staff will be under constant surveillance.  Phones will be tapped and tracked, electronic devices monitored, cars and offices bugged, physical surveillance deployed, and top tier officials at every subsidiary agency of the U.S. government will assign investigative groups and contract agents to monitor the activity of the subcommittee and provide weekly updates on their findings.  The White House together with the National Security Council will also backchannel to and from these agencies doing the surveillance. The intelligence apparatus media will be deployed, and daily leak . . . […] With all of that in mind, what is the successful path forward?

Turley: Ninth Circuit Rules That an Advisory Board Member Can Be Fired Over Antifa Association

There is an interesting free speech decision out of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit this week. In Lathus v. City of Huntington Beach, a unanimous panel ruled that a member of a municipal advisory board can be fired for her association with Antifa. The opinion is clearly correct on a constitutional level, but there are some troubling elements given the underlying exercise of speech under the First Amendment. Here are the basic facts laid out by the Court: . . .

Timothy: Ron DeSantis to replace Disney’s self-governance with state-run board after CEO attacked Parental Rights Act

On Friday, legislation backed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was introduced that would see Disney World’s self-governing power replaced with a state-run board and would also ensure the company pays $700 million in unsecured debt instead of taxpayers footing the bill.

Jacobson: DeSantis Appoints Chris Rufo and Other Conservatives To Transform Lefty “New College” Into The Hillsdale of Florida

He appointed Chris Rufo and two other conservatives to the Board of Trustees of New College of Florida, a small public lefty college modeled on northeastern liberal colleges. I looked into it when applying to college in the late 1970’s, at which point it was relatively new; I don’t even remember if I applied.

The formal announcement was made today, and if you didn’t know the players, you might think not much about it. Rufo, of course, is the person who more than anyone brought to public attention radical Critical Race Theory in higher education. […]  With the six new members of the school’s Board of Trustees, the DeSantis admin plans to weed out concepts like diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and critical race theory (CRT). The move comes amid low student enrollment at the New College of Florida and as DeSantis ramps up his second term. In a statement Friday, DeSantis Communications Director Taryn Fenske said New College has been “completely captured by a political ideology that puts trendy, truth-relative concepts above learning.”

Blaze TV: THIS Is How Conservatives Stop LOSING in 2023 | Glenn TV | Ep 242

This week during his “Glenn TV” Wednesday Night Special, Glenn is joined by Daniel Horowitz, TheBlaze senior editor, and Harmeet Dhillon, who currently is challenging Ronna McDaniel to lead the RNC. The three explore what’s next for the GOP, what conservative Congress members’ end goal should be in the House speakership vote, and how Republicans can begin to regain the trust of the American voter. Because without regaining that trust, Dhillon explains, “We’re done as a party. And that’s terrible for America.”

(Biden’s War) Wauck: Ukraine Developments

WHAT IS UKRAINE HIDING IN THE BAKHMUT SALT MINES? First, for those not familiar with salt mines, a glance at the famous Wieliczka salt mine near Kraków, in Poland, may be instructive. These mines can be very deep and elaborately constructed. For example, here’s one chamber from the Wieliczka mine: . . .[…]

According to Johnson: “The Salt mine is a monster, with a 125 miles of tunnels.” These are tunnels that are big enough to drive tanks in, and that’s part of Johnson’s point: . . .[…]  National Review, of all outlets, published an article that, according to Twitter, is causing Neocon heads to explode. It’s by MBD and it calls into question the whole rationale Neocon war on Russia. […]  The main point is simply that, even here in the Neocon-verse of the US, doubts are arising, fissures in the wall of Ukraine support are opening up. That’s significant, especially in light of the next point, below, and especially in an outlet like NRO. But first, Baron of the Taiga has provided a summary of the MBD article: . . . […]  Yesterday in a podcast, Tom Luongo described Ukraine corruption as “the third rail of American politics.” Along with FTX, electoral corruption, and much else.  Zelensky has an offshore fortune and nobody is talking about it

Heine: Joe Biden Awards Infamous 2020 Election Workers With Presidential Citizens Medals

Ruby Freeman, the notorious election worker who was caught on surveillance video engaging in highly suspicious activity during the 2020 election in Atlanta, Georgia, was awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal at the White House on Friday. During a White House ceremony recognizing the 2nd anniversary of the January 6 riot, Biden honored Freeman, her supervisor daughter Shaye Moss, and ten other individuals. The White House portrayed Freeman as voting rights heroine who had suffered cruel right-wing harassment in the aftermath of the election. […]  Freeman and her daughter were seen on the surveillance video pulling boxes filled with ballots out from under a table at State Farm Arena after supervisors had told poll workers they had quit for the night. Freeman was employed by the temporary agency Happy Faces Personnel Group, which is a contractor to the Fulton County, Georgia Elections absentee ballot department, and linked to Stacy Abrams. […]  After the surveillance video was released in December of 2020, Ruby Freeman allegedly attempted to become a whistleblower.

Arter: Biden on Why He Chose to Finally Visit the Border: ‘Because the Republicans Haven’t Been Serious About This At All’

“Mr. President, why did you decide that now is finally the right time to visit the southern border? Republicans have been calling on you to do this since the beginning of your presidency,” a reporter asked Thursday after the president’s remarks on border security and enforcement. BIDEN: Because the Republicans haven’t been serious about this at all. Come on. They haven’t been serious about this at all. I wanted to make sure that I knew what the outcome — at least the near outcome was on Title 42 before I went down. We don’t have that yet, so I had to operate — I don’t like Title 42, but it’s the law now, and I have to operate within it.

Arter: WH Press Secretary: ‘The President Inherited a Mess Because of What the Last Administration Did’

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that the Trump administration made a “mess” of the U.S. immigration system, which it passed along to President Biden. “Just in terms of comprehensive immigration reform, which obviously the president has called on Congress to enact over and over again, what is his sort of theory of the case right now for getting that done? Will he be taking his own actions to do outreach to members? Does he basically consider that a top priority going into the new Congress?” a reporter asked. JEAN-PIERRE: So, first of all, it is a top priority.

Catenacci: Biden admin quietly admits canceling Keystone XL Pipeline cost thousands of jobs, billions of dollars

The Biden administration published a congressionally mandated report highlighting the positive economic benefits the Keystone XL Pipeline would have had if President Biden didn’t revoke its federal permits. The report, which the Department of Energy (DOE) completed in late December without any public announcement, says the Keystone XL project would have created between 16,149 and 59,000 jobs and would have had a positive economic impact of between $3.4-9.6 billion, citing various studies. A previous report from the federal government published in 2014 determined 3,900 direct jobs and 21,050 total jobs would be created during construction which was expected to take two years. But immediately after taking office in January 2021, Biden canceled the pipeline’s permits, effectively shutting the project down.

Ashton: Maker of puberty blockers funded original study that led to ‘gender-affirming care’ for minors: Dutch investigative report

A Dutch investigative report has revealed that the 2006 study upon which the entire medical experiment of child sex changes is based was funded by a maker of puberty blockers. The NRC article, published on Dec 31, takes aim at the treatment approach known as the “Dutch protocol,” which involves blocking the puberty of adolescents who are suffering from gender dysphoria and forms the basis for the “gender-affirming care” model adopted by pediatric gender clinics all over the world. The Dutch protocol was the result of a deeply flawed 2006 study which it has now been revealed was funded by Ferring pharmaceuticals, the company that markets the drug Triptorelin as a puberty blocker. But according to investigative journalist Jan Kuitenbrouwer and media sociologist Peter Vasterman, authors of the NRC article, the “scientific underpinnings of the Dutch protocol turn out to be pretty shaky.”

Joondeph, M.D.: Where are the Intellectually Curious Doctors?

Medicine, like most sciences, entails thinking and hypothesis creation to explain the myriad complexities of the healthy and diseased human body. Hypotheses are tested and refined, with new information or insights nudging or abruptly shifting current knowledge in a new direction. […]  Physicians, upon medical school graduation, recite the Hippocratic Oath. Quoting from the revised version (simply because the language is easier to understand), physicians swear, “I will not be ashamed to say, ‘I know not’” and “Above all, I must not play at God.” Saying “I don’t know” is what drives the pursuit of new or alternate hypotheses. Physicians of a few hundred years ago saw their bloodletting patients die and didn’t know why, so they devised better treatments by asking questions and not playing God. Some modern physicians play God by declaring, “I am the science,” as if they are the final arbiter in all of medicine. I assume Dr. Anthony Fauci recited the Hippocratic Oath when he graduated medical school.. What questions should physicians have been asking over the past two years? Are they staying mum because they believe the science is settled and challenges to the status quo are heresy? Or are they cowed into silence over fear over losing their ability to practice the profession which they spent a decade learning and for which they earn their living? Start with the highly touted COVID-19 vaccines.

Spence: Health Care Workers Cry Foul on FDA Claiming It Didn’t Prohibit Ivermectin for COVID-19

Dr. Yusuf Saleeby has practiced medicine for more than 30 years. He serves patients in South Carolina and until recently had never faced an investigation from his state medical board. But after Saleeby started prescribing ivermectin to his patients, he was reported to the board, which opened an investigation, despite the state’s attorney general’s promise that his office wouldn’t prosecute doctors who prescribed off-label medications. Jennifer Wright, a nurse practitioner and clinical director who practices in Florida, but can prescribe across state lines, told The Epoch Times she received a letter from the Office of the Attorney General of New York ordering her not to prescribe ivermectin. “You know, basically threatened me. If I don’t stop prescribing, then they’re going to fine me,” Wright said about the letter, which threatened legal action with fines of up to $5,000 per violation. […]  That advisory and other anti-ivermectin messaging from the FDA are now the subject of a lawsuit brought by three doctors against the agency. The doctors argue that the FDA illegally interfered with their ability to treat patients. The suit was dismissed but an appeal has been filed by the plaintiffs. During a hearing in 2022, attorneys defending the government argued that the agency’s missives were just a recommendation.

Clifford: Inventor in Baja is testing a plan to cool the Earth by mimicking a volcanic eruption

“I’m very opposed to geoengineering. I want no geoengineering to occur,” Iseman told CNBC. “Unfortunately, I was born into a world with a poorly geoengineered atmosphere where I, and everyone before me for the last couple hundred years, were emitting huge quantities of carbon dioxide to build the modern world. So I want to do as little geoengineering as necessary to fix that.” Whatever you call it, we know the cooling part works. The 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines released thousands of tons of sulfur dioxide into the stratosphere, temporarily lowering average global temperatures by about 1 degree Fahrenheit, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.[…]  On the downside, injecting sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere could damage the ozone layer, cause respiratory illness and create acid rain. It would also cost as little as $10 billion per year to run a program that cools the Earth by 1 degree Celsius, UCLA environmental law professor Edward Parson told CNBC in 2022. That’s remarkably cheap compared to other mitigation techniques.

Van Cortright: The Latest Bird Flu Pandemic Is Terrible—And Strange

Bird flu is nothing new. Usually, avian flu viruses multiply and mutate inside species of dabbling ducks without raising too much of a fuss. This results in strains constantly circulating among them, not unlike contagious but mild seasonal colds in humans. But every now and then, a flu virus makes the jump into bird species that have no immunity, such as domestic poultry, and wreaks havoc.  Ducks and other waterfowl that coevolved with avian flu are mostly asymptomatic carriers that can spread the virus as they travel thousands of miles along their migration routes each year. Where migration flyways overlap, the virus can spread farther. “That makes our North American waterfowl just exquisite carriers and shedders of this particular pathogen,” says Bryan Richards, emerging disease coordinator at the National Wildlife Health Center within the U.S. Geological Survey. Bird Flu Is Spilling Over into Other AnimalsIn Wisconsin, people noticed fox kits were strangely easy to approach, wandering alone, often stumbling or walking in circles. The saga of this strain’s lineage begins in 1996, when domestic geese in the southeastern Chinese province of Guangdong began to die from uncontrollable bleeding and neurological symptoms. […]  “Now we seem to be seeing a lot of waterfowl mortality, which is just strange,” says Maurice Pitesky, a UC Davis poultry epidemiologist. “That’s not normal.”
