Sundance contributor to The Last Refuge: Ignore the prior precedent of Attorney General Eric Holder refusing to appear before Congress and give testimony; the rules are different for Trump Republicans. Peter Navarro refused to testify to the J6 committee. The committee held Navarro in contempt of Congress; they forwarded the case to the corrupt Merrick Garland Dept of Justice. The DOJ pursued the case against Navarro, and he was convicted today of two counts of contempt of Congress by a DC jury.
J.B. Shurk contributor to American Thinker: Meanwhile, the Republican Wing of the Uniparty sits back and says little, or worse, it condones the government’s ongoing campaign of intimidation and incarceration. If Republicans who hold power in D.C. were truly committed to the principles of America’s founding, they would have spent the last three years vehemently condemning the police State’s persecution of J6 protesters, the Deep State’s continued efforts to destroy Donald Trump, and the Biden regime’s portrayal of MAGA voters as “disloyal” Americans. Instead of erecting a statue in honor of veteran Ashli Babbitt, the Uniparty promotes her killer. Then, for good measure, it sends a man dressed as President George Washington to prison. If that doesn’t symbolize the Republic’s impending doom, what does?
Willie Wilson Chicago business owner: Political leaders passed sanctuary laws without fully appreciating the plans and resources needed to take care of migrants and asylum-seekers. These laws appear to be in conflict with the U.S. Constitution and encourage illegal immigration. We are a nation of laws, and directing law enforcement to ignore immigration laws will erode our democracy. According to FAIR, the cost of illegal immigration to U.S. taxpayers has reached $115.6 billion, a 30% increase over five years. I write this commentary to make those comfortable with open borders uncomfortable. The poem at the base of the Statute of Liberty reads in part: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” Perhaps we should add “until resources run out.”

I hope there are enough of us to exact a terrible toll on the next fascist, communist, or progressive who thinks so little of you and so much of himself and his ideas. You will decide whether to go along quietly or exact revenge on those destroyers. There is nowhere for you to hide. Cars and cattle first, then they’ll come for what’s left.
Llyod Billingsley contributor to Frontpage Magazine: In its ongoing divide-and-con game, the left has pitted peasants against nobles, workers against bosses, blacks against whites, Hispanics against “Anglos,” and so forth. The trans revolution arrays those who, like people though the ages, recognize biological and scientific reality against those who deny it. Beyond boilerplate charges of “transphobia,” the trans types now imagine that they are victims of “genocide,” a justification for deadly violence against innocents, even children.
BIDEN’S DEMOCRAT PARTY MARXIST PLAYBOOK: PERSECUTE YOUR OPPOSITION, PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
Justice: New Poll Shows Trump Won’t Get A Fair Jury Trial From D.C. Residents Who’ve Already Decided He’s Guilty
Americans are constitutionally entitled to a trial by an impartial jury of their peers in criminal trials. But a new poll out Monday suggests former President Donald Trump can’t get a fair trial in Washington, D.C. in the case his 2024 rival’s Justice Department is pursuing against him over his objections to the last presidential election. According to an Emerson College survey, a majority of Washington D.C. residents, 64 percent, said they would vote in favor of a conviction over the former president’s objections to the 2020 election results. Only 8 percent said they would find Trump innocent, and another 28 percent were unsure. […] The former president cited D.C.’s far-left voting record last month as a reason to move the trial, which pertains to the events of Jan. 6, 2021, out of the Beltway bubble. The district overwhelmingly voted to deliver its three electoral votes to President Joe Biden in the last election, 92 to 5 percent.

Whedon: Peter Navarro convicted of contempt of Congress for ignoring Jan. 6 committee subpoena
A jury on Thursday convicted former Trump advisor Peter Navarro of contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena from the Jan. 6 committee to testify and provide documents. Navarro faced two misdemeanor counts, each of which carry a maximum of one year in prison, the Associated Press reported. Each count further comes with a possible $100,000 fine. The former Trump advisor had publicly argued that Trump personally directed him not to cooperate with the committee, citing executive privilege, the New York Times noted. D.C. Federal District Court Judge Amit P. Mehta, however, refused to permit Navarro to make the argument in court. [Note: Greg Price on X: This is especially insane weaponization of the Biden DOJ given what we have learned about the number of lies the J6 committee told and the records they destroyed.]
THE CORRUPT & DANGEROUS U.S. INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES & THE ADMINISTRATIVE STATE APPARATUS
Shurk: Ruling Regime Locks Up George Washington
A Missouri man walked into the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, dressed as George Washington. He caused no damage, engaged in no violence, and was even recorded peacefully speaking with police before leaving. For daring to dress as America’s pre-eminent Founding Father and symbolically rebuking our corrupt ruling class, Isaac Yoder was surveilled for seven months, eventually arrested, fined, and sentenced to a year in prison. Welcome to the Imprisoned States of America, where patriotic love of country is condemned and political persecution flourishes. At a time when the Biden regime is trying to imprison President Donald Trump for the rest of his life, Yoder’s story seems particularly poignant. If the American War for Independence were being fought today, there is no doubt that the D.C. despots squeezing the life out of the American people would enthusiastically take sides with the British. As soon as dishonest and nefarious lawmakers, police officers, prosecutors, and judges decided to treat the J6 protest against election fraud as an “insurrection,” the miscreants who imperiously occupy D.C. made clear that they have fully rejected both the spirit and the principles of 1776. If Americans cannot assemble to petition their government for redress of grievances without fear of being labeled “insurrectionists” or “terrorists,” then there is no First Amendment protection remaining

Gaty: Uncle Sam’s Making Me Take The Covid Jab To Become An American Citizen
Nearly a million legal immigrants became American citizens last year, the third-highest number in history. One angle missing from the news coverage: Every single one of those immigrants was required, as a precondition of citizenship, to get a Covid booster. The Immigration and Nationality Act and related federal regulations were designed from a reasonable public health perspective to require immunization against “vaccine-preventable diseases.” However, this regulation has since been expanded to require immunization with any product recommended by CDC guidance, whether or not it prevents disease at all and regardless of any harm such a requirement could inflict. I refer not only to the harm potentially caused by an experimental injection to its individual recipients but to the harm done to the future of the nation by forcing immigrants to submit to mandates widely understood as unscientific. I’ll admit, this is personal. I have thus far made it to the fall of 2023 without a trace of Pfizer lipid nanoparticles in my circulation. Indeed, in my work as a pediatrician, I consider it a moral duty to speak out against unserious mRNA vaccine studies and to do all I can to protect the children here in my Texas community from Covid vaccine mandates. […] I am faced with the “choice” to leave my patients, my (American-born) wife and children, and my church — or submit to a medical intervention with no feasible public benefit and significant potential health downsides. […] I love America so much, getting the jab is a price I’m willing to pay. Standing before the official with my hand over my hopefully undamaged heart, saying my oath, clutching my little flag, I still may shed a tear that day, but it will not be for myself: It will be for a land that once was free. [NOTE: And yet, millions of illegal aliens invited to cross Biden’s open southern border are not required to receive the Covid mRNA jab.]
Raleigh: Renewed Hysteria Shows Why We Need A Commission For Covid Accountability
One of the most disturbing images of the Covid-19 pandemic was when a teacher tried repeatedly to force a mask on a crying toddler, despite his visible distress. In some ways, the U.S. government at all levels, especially among public health officials, treated all of us like toddlers, compelling us to endure draconian Covid measures from mask mandates to vaccine mandates despite many scientific studies showing none of them have stopped Covid from spreading in our society and infecting people. There has been no national reckoning on what went wrong in our pandemic response and who should be held accountable, and there are new signs those same ineffective and sometimes cruel Covid measures are coming back to dictate Americans’ lives this fall. White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre announced this week that President Joe Biden would start wearing a mask again after his wife tested positive for Covid. The president and the first lady had received Covid vaccines and boosters before and were infected anyway. But the facts haven’t stopped President Biden from encouraging all Americans to get Covid booster shots this fall. Meanwhile, Rosemary Hills Elementary School in Maryland handed out KN95 masks to third graders because more than three students were infected with Covid. At the University of Michigan, students who test Covid-positive still have to leave their dorm (even if in a single room) and isolate themselves in a hotel for five days.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan on Thursday informed special counsel Jack Smith that he was investigating an alleged incident in which an attorney in the special counsel’s office appeared to entice an attorney representing a defendant in the Trump classified documents case to convince his client to cooperate with prosecutors. “Last year, Jay Bratt—one of your senior prosecutors and top aides—allegedly improperly pressured Stanley Woodward, a lawyer representing a defendant indicted by you, by implying that the Administration would look more favorably on Mr. Woodward’s candidacy for a judgeship if Mr. Woodward’s client cooperated with the Office of the Special Counsel,” Jordan wrote. “This attempt to inappropriately coerce Mr. Woodward raises serious concerns about the abusive tactics of the Office of the Special Counsel and the Department’s commitment to its mission to uphold the rule of law and ensure impartial justice.”

The Daily Caller spoke with a number of Senate staffers, current and former, about a possible McConnell replacement and all of them were on the same page, saying that there will be no outsider who will challenge McConnell for leadership and win. The Caller granted anonymity to allow discussion on a sensitive topic. “The alternative is really just a look-a-like in Cornyn or Thune. My understanding is that Thune is likely to really inherit the McConnell infrastructure and he seems to be the one that is likely to get it. At some point when McConnell does leave in some form or fashion, I don’t think Cornyn is without a shot. I think he has a chance but I don’t see anybody else. I don’t see a viable outsider alternative coming into play,” a former Senate Chief of Staff told the Caller of Sens. BIDEN/HARRIS/OBAMA’S AMERICA LAST REGIME: THE FUNDAMENTAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE U.S. MILITARY
CatGirlKulak Threadreader: Why no one wants to Join the Military
I’ve been reading “The Second World War” by Sandhurst military Historian John Keegan… It explained a ton about 19th century/early 20th century military culture I didn’t get. The Edwardians were patriotic as hell. the Military was massively popular. The Average person ate 1200 calories a day, whereas soldiers in Garrison ate 1400 and higher quality food at that, it was a massive education and networking opportunity for people of all classes, and produced bonds that would be necessary for social advancement. Conscription was massively popular and demanded from the population during peacetime, less because they wanted to make sure no one was shirking, and more because they didn’t want lower class people left behind and all the opportunity in the army hoarded by the connected who’d be able to get into a volunteer force. In Britain which had always abhorred conscription and had Whig (proto-libertarian) objections to it… the populace practically rebelled and formed illegal regiments and militias and drilled to participate in martial life… this was a phenomenon across europe and after the treaty of Versailles restricting Germany to a scant 100,000 strong army, the country was flooded with Freikrops, non-government paramilitaries and militias to either advance some political movement or just be part of military life. This was after WW1! Millions of young men had just died as part of regiments many little different than this. And yet there was this much demand from young men to be part of the martial world. This is because the Military and military life was ACTUALLY a good career move, and ACTUALLY formed life long bonds in the early 20th century. Amidst the population boom of the early 20th century and all the excess young men with little inheritance… the military and militia life was a major vehicle for social mobility and aspiration and forming social connections… So what changed? Why is it almost completely the opposite in early 21st century America?
DEMOCRAT PARTY MARXIST PLAYBOOK: CHILDREN ARE THE TARGET OF THE DARKNESS AFFECTING OUR NATION
Downey Jr.: Reality Check: Let’s Talk About Those ‘496 Anti-LGBT’ Bills Throughout the U.S.
Leftists love nothing more than rolling around like a pig in a thick puddle of victimy goodness, and those good-for-nothing Bolshie tricksters from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) are happy to help them achieve scapegoat nirvana. The mega-pinkos at the ACLU have compiled a list of “496 anti-LGBT bills” up for consideration in the 2023 legislative session, some of which have already passed into law but most of which have been defeated. The ACLU apparatchiks refer to these as “bills targeting LGBTQ rights,” but as you’re about to see, this isn’t even in the neighborhood of reality — unless you think the LGBT’s angry Gaystapo has a right to groom your kid, beat your daughter to a pulp in a martial arts match, or keep you from knowing what your children are learning at school. […] What can happen when schools hide a kid’s anguish? Child trafficking. […] So let’s take a look at some of the states with the most bills targeting “LGBT rights.”
Jipping & Aldrich: Massachusetts Pushes Gender Ideology Over Finding Homes for Foster Kids
Religious freedom, Congress said unanimously in 1998, “undergirds the very origin and existence of the United States.” Today, however, an obsession with gender ideology is driving governments to ignore the First Amendment, defy clear Supreme Court precedent, and even violate their own laws and regulations to root out those with the “wrong” religious views about sexuality. This bigotry not only violates fundamental rights, but it also puts vulnerable children at risk. During the 2021-22 fiscal year, more than 9,700 children were placed in the custody of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, which had already acknowledged a serious lack of both foster families and group homes. While DCF does not publish an official number, reports began to emerge that abused and neglected children removed from their homes who had no place to stay ended up sleeping in social workers’ offices, sometimes for nights at a time. Other foster children were forced to stay in hospitals or emergency rooms because no other placements were available.
[…] “The identities of all adults volunteering or working in public school should not be a government secret,” Solas wrote. “And no publicly paid attorney should ever try to suppress the First Amendment rights of the citizens who pay him.” Another high-profile controversy over gender identity and school transparency is brewing in suburban Washington, D.C. Fairfax County Public Schools . . .

Shepherd: These 5 Fall Film Releases Show Inspirational Dramas Are Leveling Up
As moviegoers have come out in force this year to support cause-driven movies, the box-office success of two films has upended conventional Hollywood predictions. Now a handful of inspiring dramas geared to heartland audiences hope to make a splash this fall. It turned heads when religious biopic “Jesus Revolution” raked in over $50 million this spring, then climbed Netflix streaming rankings in recent weeks. And in a run Variety called “unlikely,” anti-trafficking thriller “Sound of Freedom ” currently stands as the year’s No. 10 box-office earner. That means an indie film produced for $14.5 million has bested studio pics made for about $300 million each: Disney’s “Indiana Jones 5” and Paramount’s “Mission Impossible 7.” The rise of faith-conscious entertainment has been decades in the making. OTHER NEWS, COMMENTARY, OPINION
Blankley: Public records, witness info not made public in Paxton impeachment trial
Dozens of exhibits have been admitted as evidence in the ongoing impeachment trial of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, but by the third day of the trial Thursday, none had been published on the state’s Court of Impeachment website. The court has not disclosed what types of records or evidence are included.
Six witnesses were sworn in as a group Wednesday by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, but none stated their names during the process. Patrick also did not state who they were. Their names, and no other witness names, have been listed on the impeachment website. Throughout the course of the trial so far, when attorneys refer to the exhibits, a copy of it displays on the tablet screens on each state senator’s desk, but there is no large screen for the general public or media to view them, nor is any description given to explain what the exhibit refers to. […] The Center Square asked Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s press office and the Secretary of the Senate if and when the information already introduced as a matter of public record will be posted on the Court of Impeachment website and did not receive a response. Patrick is presiding over the trial.

Vespa: Dems in South Side, Chicago Are Getting a Little Racist Over the Illegal Alien Issue
In Chicago, tensions over the migrant crisis boiled over in June, and they haven’t subsided. Based on the liberal media’s reporting and other narratives constructed by the Left on this issue, it would seem South Side Chicago’s residents are getting a little racist over the illegal alien invasion. And by racist, I mean voicing well-reasoned and mainstream concerns about people who shouldn’t be here being dumped into this part of the city. “We are at war, people,” said one concerned citizen while a woman was incensed that people who have never lived here are being overly compensated while their needs in the community have fallen by the wayside. “We need to be taken care of first and foremost before anything else happens here,” she added.

Fenig: Country club hosts a ‘let’s play at being poor’ event for rich bored Chicago housewives
In a simulation that even NBC’s failing SNL would reject as too unbelievable to air, residents of Highland Park, Illinois, an upper middle class, upper wealthy suburb of Chicago, had an opportunity to play “let’s pretend we’re poor” with an “immersive experience” aimed at showing participants what a month in poverty feels like, according to the city’s posting. From a report by NBC Chicago: . . . […] Now, many residents of Highland Park are only a generation or two removed from their ancestors’ poverty. Unsurprisingly, this artificial, virtue-signaling, feel good “poverty simulation” marketed as an “immersive experience” offered the willing participants no backstory as to what factors may have contributed to a poverty lifestyle—e.g., substance abuse, unmarried parenthood, fiscal irresponsibility—instead they were passive victims through no fault of their own and with no power to improve. Sponsored by the usual array of feel-good welfare organizations such as Family Focus and the Alliance for Human Services, these (and similar charities) absorb government and charity dollars to support top heavy “social service” administrative and social work personnel who unconsciously attempt to prolong their clients’ poverty to justify their continued professional existence. Adding to the unreality, . . .

Schemmel: FACT CHECK: Is the Abbott Administration Closing Libraries as Part of Its Houston Public School Revamp?
Claim: Texas Republican governor Greg Abbott’s administration is closing libraries and turning them into disciplinary centers as part of a state intervention into Houston’s chronically underperforming public school system. Who said it: A slew of left-wing media outlets, including the New York Times. In an Aug. 13 piece headlined “Texas Revamps Houston Schools, Closing Libraries and Angering Parents,” the Times wrote that Abbott’s administration fired librarians and “effectively close[d] libraries in some of the city’s poorest schools,” a move the paper suggested would hurt minority students and families.
Why it matters: Houston’s public schools are lagging far behind those in the rest of the state in reading and math scores. The state’s intervention aims to reverse that trend, and if the effort is successful, it will provide a blueprint for struggling schools in Texas and elsewhere. Context: Texas in 2015 passed a law by Rep. Harold Dutton Jr.—a black Democrat who has represented Houston in the State Legislature for nearly four decades—that requires the state’s education agency to intervene in failing school districts. If a public school receives a failing grade on its academic performance for five consecutive years, the Texas Education Agency must appoint a new board of managers for the school district. […] Mike Miles, is tasked with implementing a revamped education plan to improve reading and math scores in the 28 elementary and middle schools that feed into Wheatley High School and other struggling schools.
Analysis: Central to Miles’s plan to improve academic performance are so-called team centers, which the superintendent describes as spaces “for an individual learning environment.” At “team centers”—located in libraries and large classrooms not used for traditional class instruction—students receive . . .

Krayden: Canada puts its prize political Freedom Trucker dissidents on trial for peacefully protesting Trudeau’s Covid mandates
Freedom Convoy leaders Tamara Lich and Chris Barber are charged with mischief, counseling others to commit mischief, intimidation and obstructing police as leaders of the Freedom Convoy that polarized residents of Ottawa in February 2022 and arguably began to rollback COVID-19 mandates. It was ironic on this first day of the proceedings that there was a group of university students outside of the Ontario Provincial courthouse seeking donations for a charity associated with the Shriners. The kids were encouraging the drivers of the cars passing by to honk their horns and voice their support for the cause. It was the honking of course that caused some in Ottawa to apparently go mad during the late January to mid February protest of 2022. People claimed the truckers who came to town and parked their rigs on Wellington St. in front of Parliament Hill were honking all night long. As someone who stayed all night long for the protest in the sub-zero temperatures of an Ottawa winter, I can tell you that the truckers did not continue to blast their horns way past midnight. They went to sleep. We heard the usual drivel on Tuesday from the Crown prosecutor, one Tim Radcliffe who had the gall to suggest this trial had nothing at all to do with the political opinions of Lich and Barber but had everything to do with their allegedly dangerous “means.” He claimed their protest was “anything but peaceful.” Well, let’s just stop there for a minute for a realty check.

“Some states have enacted laws and policies that may affect 2SLGBTQI+ persons,” the Canadian government is advising. These 2SLGBTQI+ persons “could face certain barriers and risks when you travel outside Canada,” particularly in the USA.
“2S” means “Two-Spirit,” a term that “reflects complex Indigenous understandings of gender roles, spirituality, and the long history of sexual and gender diversity in Indigenous cultures.” According to the Canadian government, 2SLGBTQI+ “recognizes Two-Spirit people as the first 2SLGBTQI+ communities.”
LGBTQ are, respectively, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer. “I” means “intersex” and “considers sex characteristics beyond sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, and + is “inclusive of people who identify as part of sexual and gender diverse communities, who use additional terminologies.” This ever-increasing aggregation of letters, numbers and symbols comes billed as an acronym. It is actually a construct, in a special kind of way. […] “Trans violent militancy is the current focus of #Antifa,” contends journalist Andy Ngo. “They believe that critics of trans ideology should be silenced, maimed or murdered. Some call for sexual violence against females in particular, as revenge.” A travel advisory would be better suited for places where transifa terror is likely to strike, not places that recognize biological reality. At this point in history, Canada isn’t one of those.
